No need to sign someone new, we've got our starters set in Lewis and Hill. Levine is quality depth at safety with really good cover skills and Brooks will probably be coming back mid season. Trawick now has a spot for ST if a young guy doesn't step up, don't sleep on Nick Perry btw. It's too bad for Elam, looked like he was ready to step up this year, looks like he'll have to wait until next season to prove himself, off to IR he will go for the season.
Reid at RT instead of Urschel wth? I know he has the wing span but Urschel is legit
Urschel is a legit Guard/Center, he doesn't play tackle. I don't like Reid either but come on, Urschel doesn't play tackle, if Urschel is playing then we'd be doing what we did in the playoffs and I'm sure the FO, not to mention Yanda himself, doesn't want Yanda to play RT.
If thats true than Perriman was a wasted pick because we drafted him FOR speed. His speed is the reaso we looke past his routes and inconsistent hands. If Perriman was average speed we wouldn't of drafted him.
at what point did i say he was slow or wasn't fast? Its nothing ground breaking that Perriman doesn't play at 4.2 speed, everybody knows or should know that by now. And no, we did not draft him solely because he's fast.
He ran a 4.6 though.... Don't know how he'll do outside, if he can perfect his routes he might be a good slot receiver. 4.6 for a a receiver nowadays is s little suspect.
don't even start with the 40 talk, the 40 literally means nothing, the 40 is a practiced skill, most receivers don't play anywhere near their 40 speed, Perriman is a perfect example of that...
Doubt the FO will let him go with Suggs and Doom both nearing retirement. He's been in development for years and was a relatively high pick. Ozzie will get it done
He's young and has time to get better. He had a terrible day in Foxboro but, like i said, he's young and is entitled to a bad game considering he was a practice squader before being thrust into a starting role here and played admirably up until that particular game. I'd happily argue that he was the reason we even made it to Foxboro, not because he was amazing but because he stabilized the secondary enough to allow our rushers to rush and take some burden off the hampered secondary. His snaps will clearly go down but he'll get plenty of playing time in a relief role and as our probably #1 backup on the outside (as everyone knows Arrington should not be put outside).
What other team has the luxury of switching out lineman during a game? Seems like every other team has to ride the starters from start to finish. It'll be pretty amazing if we can give our starting olineman a rest during a game.
We'll see what kind of rusher he is in the preseason, right now we really don't know yet. We just have so many guys impressing right now its hard to say who exactly will emerge and make the team.
Dameshek is a joke, don't take anything he says to heart. Do we have the best "triplet?" no but 17 is laughable, all 3 are proven. If you look at his list he has a few teams above us with one mediocre piece with two good players (i.e. the Lions with Joique Bell) and some with second year guys that are hardly proven (i.e. Saints with Brandin Cooks). We should at least be 10. His rankings don't take into account balance.
Is it so hard to sign a player specifically to be a return specialist?
considering there is a limited number of roster spots....yes, no need to waste a roster spot when we have plenty of capable guys
Letting SSS handle the returns is an interesting idea, I don't think he's been a return specialist since really early in his career. With all the receiving talent we have it's actually a viable option but, personally, I think we should go elsewhere considering SSS is our only real vet receiver with actual starting experience. I like Asa as the punt returner and Carter is an interesting guy for kick returner, I'm sure we'll see him return a few in the preseason.
could have kept Tyrod for that matter and probably saved about $1M.
I doubt we "could" have kept Tyrod, the whole thing with him is that he wanted out so he could have a chance to start. I think if we could have kept him Ozzie would have made it happen, Ozzie knows better than anyone that its almost always better to keep the guy familiar with the system and receivers
We'll see...a lot of fans have already jumped ship and disregarded the 3 year rule. Lets hope Elam proves them all to be fools...
All this talk about Welker but I think signing him would not be a good move. It's already going to be really hard deciding who to keep at WR and Welker doesn't seem to have much to anything left in the tank. I just don't see a Welker move anytime soon.
It'll be a tough battle at safety, especially if Brooks is ready to take a roster spot. If he is ready then I don't think there's room for Trawick, even if we carry 5 I would take Levine over him because of his versatility.
Never count Ozzie out, I won't be surprised if both Yanda and Osemele are re-signed. Couple years back we thought we couldn't keep Monroe and Pitta but Ozzie pulled it off. Not to mention we'll have lots of cap next offseason when all this dead cap is gone.
we will without a doubt keep 4 unless Pitta suffers a setback or makes a decision to take some more time.
Exactly, Pitta is safe from being cut, the dead cap would simply not be worth it. Ozzie doesn't cut rookie draft picks and Gilmore has proven to be worthy of spot. Nobody is in jeopardy of being cut in that group.
The Ravens have only carried 4 TE, once in the last 15 years and no team in the NFL has carried 4 TE since the Packers in 2011
we usually carry 3, its not an insane stetch of the imagination that we'd carry one more. Sure we've carried 4 once but every single other year we carried 3 but god forbid we keep one more.
No way in Gods green earth is Campanaro going to sit on our practice squad. If we could convince him to go on PUP or IR we can protect him, but there is no way teams who need receivers are going to forget Camp going up and as Brandon Williams said "pulled a Randy" by going up and snatching the ball in the TB game. He wont be on practice squad for one day. My call is Smith, Aiken, Brown, Camp, Perriman and Waller with Carter as a Return Specialist and Butler, Worthy and the rest go to the practice squad or somehow get on the PUP or IR lists.
There's lots of ways on God's green Earth that he could make it through the season on the PS. We're talking about an undersized WR with god awful injury issues, and it doesn't help that we don't really need his return skills anymore.
In order to go on the PUP list, a player has to miss the entire training camp and pre-season. If he practices with the team one time, he is not eligible. My guess is that Camp will start on the Pre-season PUP and if he doesn't improve or re-injures then he will go to the Regular Season PUP. More than likely, injuries are going to happen and will settle this (Robinson already injured and the pads haven't went on yet). But I agree that Camp is probably not going anywhere. Carter is an easy stash on the practice squad.
The bigger position battle to me is at TE. If Pitta is healthy, who do you cut (as the Ravens won't keep 4 TE on the roster)?
1) There is no TE battle...we'll carry 4, its not like that an unusual thing to do
2) As much talking up we've been doing regarding Carter it is far from an easy stash, especially if he backs it up in the pre-season
3) Camp already got injured as well, that goes some way towards settling it too
It's not out of the realm of possibility that we'll keep 7 receivers because there is just so much talent. Smith Sr., Perriman, Brown, and Aiken are locks, most likely Waller will be kept around because of that height. So that leaves up to 2 spots available. If Camp gets injured again when he gets back then I just can't see him making it, I think he could stay on PS without getting picked up, if he stays healthy on the PS then he can give it another go next year. Butler has been seriously impressing and Carter has been getting lots of buzz, Worthy has the tools...it'll be a tough battle and the one that can establish themself on ST will probably get the last spot. I think Butler and Carter will snag the last two spots.
Can't wait to see him and KLM play in the preseason
I don't think it's really a "competition" between Elam and Hill, Hill will be the starter but both will definitely get playing time, maybe some 3 safety sets?
As far as the Welker tweet at the end...not gonna happen, we already have a tough group of receivers and Welker isn't needed right now. He should retire.
I read that during today's OTAs, Aiken caught a TD pass over Elam and Hill.
Two thoughts:
1, not surprised Elam was burned.
2. Why wasn't Kendrick Lewis in there with Hill?
I'm sure Pees is just shuffling around the safeties because its just OTAs, get everyone some time back there. And I'm sure we'll probably do the same during the season, Lewis, Hill, Elam and Levine should all get time and give each other a rest

you can go ahead and drop the "little to" part, 0 chance he would get cut.
