  1. If Russell Wilson genuinely wants to be the highest paid player in NFL history then he better prepare to be disappointed. No team will pay that much for a game manager. He isn't the kind of QB that can carry a team to a SB like Manning, his greatest asset is that he doesn't make too many mistakes but put him on a team without an elite defense and he'll crumble, he can't put a team on his back and make them winners, just not the player he is.

Or sometimes an elite defense and running game is better than nothing.

You have to ask a Seahawks fan for the true story.

    4. gtalk12

      gtalk12

Just watching the games I have, vs the Packers in the playoffs he was horrible. They won because that defense shut down Aaron and the run game came alive. Without either he would not be that successful, not to take away from his talent though. He can make dynamic plays

  2. People give Schaub way too much beef. Is he great? no, but he's easily a top tier backup and I am way more comfortable with him coming in if Flacco were to get injured (knock on wood) than whoever else we have (I think the next two on the roster are Renner and Lovelocke...).

the last time garoppolo took a snap, he lost to towson, you cant say hes better than a long established nfl qb like schaub. and no, schaub is not a disaster, ill once again point out, he had injury plagued seasons playing for 2 god awful organizations, and has not gotten even a sliver of a fair chance since kubiak left houston, you are just being way too reactionary here.

    3. JoeyFlex5

      JoeyFlex5

would i want him as the starter? god no, but as a backup for the most durable qb in the nfl, yea ill take it.

    4. Corvus

      Corvus

Schaub has gotten a bad rap I think. We could do a lot worse if God forbid something happened to Flacco and we needed someone for a few games.

  3. Who'd be in favor of an almost complete WR reshuffle this offseason? Of course Perriman is staying on board and Aiken could be a decent rotational piece, definitely not a starter, but who else should stay? Waller will get a chance in camp sure but Brown needs to go, Camp has proven that he can't stay healthy at all, Smith will obviously be gone, too early to tell with Givens and Ross. Why not bring in a piece via FA and couple picks?

      January J

      1) Perriman 2) either SSS for one more year or a mid to upper tier F.A 3) Aiken. 4)camp 5) Waller 6) Ross

    3. Deflated Football

      Deflated Football

Aiken needs to go along with Marlon and Camp. Flacco needs playmakers, not journeymen, injured players or talk WR's that don't use their frame with butterfingers. Sign Alshon and Hankerson. Boom. Extremely significant upgrade to offense.

    4. Deflated Football

      Deflated Football

Alshon - Breshad - Hankerson - Givens - Waller - Ross. You can't tell me Flacco wouldn't salivate over that.

  4. Has Clarence Brooks ever gotten a shot at Defensive Coordinator? Our Dline has been consistently good since he's been here and just look at some of the players that have developed on his watch. Seems like if Pees ever gets let go during this season Brooks should get interim job.

Not sure he is interested tbh. Seems after all these years he was probably offered a chance at some point.

Without Pees it can only get better.

    4. SeaHawk

      SeaHawk

He has been offered a few times, probably even after Pagano left, but he turned the opportunities down. Seems like he is perfectly happy with what he is doing, which is ok by my book.

  5. Some interesting names are already hitting the market. DT Louis Nix was released by the Texans, never really got a shot but was dominant at ND. I always thought Da'Quan Bowers would be better standing up in a 3-4 instead of the 4-3. Who else?

He was traded to the Colts for a sixth round pick

  6. Surprised the Eagles cut Mathis, we're going to see if Kelly is as clever as he clearly thinks he is. Completely dismantled a good team that was just missing their starting QB. Losing Mathis is a big hit to that line.

  7. So...do you think Schaub will get 90 mins in the 4th game or split with Renner? I hope they at least split time but I sure Schaub will get the game which is unfortunate because I think Renner does have some talent. Can he survive a season on the PS?

    1. Show previous comments  1 more
    2. berad

      berad

They'll split and I think Renner is under the radar enough to slip to practice squad

    3. sflegend89

      sflegend89

They don't want to show much more good tape on Renner to get him on the PS. Plus Schaub has played poorly so he needs all the reps he can get. I see Renner only playing the 4th quarter.

    4. EvilWayz

      EvilWayz

I think so. I don't see why not. Renner will most likely get some time in the 4th.

  8. So uh....Reggie Wayne is out there somewhere, Ozzie isn't trading for anyone and we clearly need another reliable target out there

"Well we have next to no money" you say that as if Wayne would be an expensive addition...Who ever said he'd be brought in to stretch the field? he a reliable target and "past his prime" describes SSS too. I never said Wayne would be a pro bowler here, I just called him a reliable target, much more reliable than Aiken was this game.

    3. Sami84

      Sami84

no..no patch up jobs..if this team isn't good enough you aren't going to find any difference makers now. Some bad drafts and crippling contracts are now apparent. For so many years we relied on early-mid 2000's drafts and we haven't come close since. we had special players..think about it..lewis reed woodson suggs etc..those were the guys that made it all work..we don't have that..we need a top 5 pick..all teams need to at some point

    4. ludy51

      ludy51

Uh, he wanted to get cut from the pats so he could retire.......

  9. So the first round of cuts are over...anyone jump out as a good sign?

  10. Are you ready for an unpopular opinion? I like Anthony Zettel better than Bosa taking into consideration pick value at where they'll be taken. IMO Zettel late 1st/early 2nd + picks from trading back > Bosa top 5.

    1. gabrielgrissom

      gabrielgrissom

I like deforest Buckner over both

    2. BmoreBird22

      BmoreBird22

Austin Johnson is the best one on that PSU line.

Buckner just doesn't offer much as a pass rusher, yet.

    3. gabrielgrissom

      gabrielgrissom

And I agree 100% with that comment but we don't have another dominant run stuffer for next year. I mean do you guys really expect Canty to be back nevertheless play at the level he's playing at now? Do you really expect Lawrence guy or carl davis to be a consistent 16 game force? Even if Davis pans out do what happens with Brandon Williams after next year... I'm pretty sure we want to keep will around and he will expect good money.

  11. Two names to look for: Browns cut Shaun Draughn RB/RS, used to be here and fills two needs. Jacoby Ford WR/KR was cut by Tennessee, provides return abilities and is a deep threat that we could use.

    1. Wildabeast88

      Wildabeast88

I think either would be good but once Perriman comes back I don't know if Ford would be needed

    2. cursona pirate

Jacoby Jones is the only Jacoby I want.

    3. dama108

      dama108

i think Jacoby Ford would be great fit for KR/PR, but not much else

  12. Just over checking out the Browns forum and wow, they are treating the Jets as a gimme game and thats a big mistake. Jets aren't great but they have 2 legit receivers, a competent oline, a somewhat competent QB in Fitz (something the browns can't say they have) and a very good defense with the old CB duo being reunited. They could easily lose tomorrow

  13. I really miss those Ed Reed laterals, always so fun to watch unselfish football. Seems like no secondary plays like that anymore.

    2. Corvus

      Corvus

I'm just happy that one of the only two times I was lucky enough to go see Reed play live, it was the game @ Carolina in '10 where his infamous lateral actually worked and payed dividends!

  15. Another guy from the NO game that no one is talking about is KLM. I went back and rewatched the game and notice KLM played fantastic but he needs to do a far better job finishing the play. He was in position to get two sacks but whiffed on the QB both times, just makes me want to pull my hair out.

    1. pechillo

      pechillo

when he gets off the ball he stands straight up and doesn't explode from what i saw and on top of that he needs better footwork like you said he whiffs a couple times and he's gotta shed blocks quicker, he reads the plaits long before he reacts but he's still raw he's got the talent no doubt just a couple little tweaks and he could end up like arthur jones did for us, they are similar

    2. sflegend89

      sflegend89

I didn't think he played well at all. Granted it was his first game in over 2 years I'll cut him some slack but he got stood up a lot and not much in terms of a push. Like pechillo said he does a poor job getting off the ball, he needs to get lower and explode off the ball instead of trying to hand fight his way into the back field.

  16. Some will disagree but I'm really, really pulling for Alexander at 36. The swagger is infectious, he's by no means a finished product and will benefit from sitting behind Wright from the start, but his ceiling is very high if our coaches can refine his technique. Leslie Frazier talking about our secondary being more aggressive this year would be great for Alexander, who if anything is at times too aggressive.

    1. VeiledPsychosis

      VeiledPsychosis

I know people are really pulling for Spence/Dodd though, and I'd of course support whoever we pick.

    2. ALPHA

      ALPHA

Alexander got knocked partly for his size but mostly for his attitude and coach interviews, he's self orientated as opposed to team orientated, self confidence is good but not when it's rubbing your teammates and coaches the wrong way.

  17. I'm not too worried about Perriman still being out, I wasn't expecting him to be a starter anyway honestly. No need to rush him back, we have quite a lot invested in him, let him get his rest and get back to 100% before bringing him back to practice. I hope we get to see him at some point in the preseason but, like i said, no need to rush him back to the field.

    1. gtalk12

      gtalk12

Agreed, let him get ready. Those knee issues kind of worry me, I know he has them from his dad who was able to deal with them the older he got

  18. So with a litany of injuries and an embarrassing loss to the Browns its officially time to call our season dead in the water. Time for the draft section to heat up and please for the love of god get rid of Pees, it's not going to happen but it needs to happen.

    1. polynesian15

      polynesian15

Good start from the offense which stagnated - that wouldn't have been a problem if not for horrific defense. If we can't stop the Raiders and Browns how are we gonna stop... pretty much anyone. Don't know how the wizard called this, but props where props are due.

  19. Good that Yanda was signed, still need Tucker and Osemele but Yanda is a good start. Wonder if we save any money immediately from extending Yanda, after this season we're fine, we'll be rolling in cap without all this dead money.

    1. CapoRocky

      CapoRocky

Tucker is #1 priority now that he's Hollywood cool with his commercials. Let's see if we can draft a top 10 receiver in 2016, too. Meanwhile, we need to get the injured back on the field and play out the schedule with pride and dignity. Yanda is the best guard in the league.

  20. Our secondary could be really good this coming year. With Arrington we have 5 legit players in Jimmy, Webb, Melvin, Asa, and, obviously, Arrington. Throw in Walker as the #6 getting very few snaps as he develops and this group is great. All they need to do is stay healthy and we are good to go at CB.

    1. stampedehero

      stampedehero

Kendrick Lewis ought to be mentioned too.

  21. Is it just me or has Butler seemingly been in every OTA clip...It's quite early on but i gotta say I'm becoming a fan.

      raven22nation

me too man, hes looking really good so far, I would love to see him on Sundays

  22. How shocked/angry would you be if Tunsil fell to #6 but knowing how valuable he is Ozzie trades the pick for a king's ransom? We lose out on a franchise LT but we get a ton from some team. I genuinely wouldn't know how to react...

    1. JimmyBlack

      JimmyBlack

We will take Tunsil because Monroe will be hurt by the 4th or 5th game and Flacco will be a sitting duck again.  Do you really want Mallett as QB for the remainder of the season?

  23. Will the draft be livestreamed free online?

    1. rmcjacket23

      rmcjacket23

ESPN App should have it. Not sure if NFL network will.

  24. Anyone in the Supplemental draft interest you? Personally no one worth a pick for us in particular but i suspect Battle will be picked by some team, maybe Denver.
