If we take all playoff and other other implications of the game away, it was actually a pretty good showing - especially compared to how the team fared most of the season. Shame it all came to nothing.
A "fun" fact: as much as the O has been (mostly rightfully) scrutinized all along the season while the D has been (equally rightfully) lauded for being a top D of the league, I cannot help noticing and noting that last night marked the third time this season that all the D should have done was to stop the opponent's O one last time - and they failed. We had the lead on the Raiders, the Giants and the steelers with no more than a two-minute drive - or even less - left from the game - and yet our heralded D allowed them to march down the field and score. And then we didn't even mention the pats game where we didn't have the lead, but were within sight to at least tie the game... If anyone's still wondering if this D is to be compared to the legendary 2000 D - this isn't what truly great D's do.
So, the season is practically over for us - who cares about the Cincinatti game now, honestly... But this might actually be a blessing in disguise. I know I'm probably nowhere near reality, but I sooooo hope this was the last season we had to endure Harbaugh at helm. It was a great run, he led the Ravens to a Super Bowl victory, and had in general a really successful stint - but apparently it's over, he's flamed out. Blatant playcall, time management and other decision-related blunders, his obvious inability to address the problems at OC... and an apparent neglect of the O side of the game altoghether... I do believe his time in Baltimore should be up. It would be the best for both parties to move on. He'd surely have a new job in 5 minutes (the Rams or the 49ers would probably scoop him up right away), and he would be great once again - something I don't think he can be in Baltimore anymore. And the Ravens could have a fresh start. I'm sure there are coaches out there who would at least bring the promise of something this team was sorely missing the past 3-4 saeasons: to play to the roster's strengths. Of course I'm nowhere near the position to make justified suggestions, but coaches like the young Shanahan guy, with Norv Turner at OC (though I believe he'll land a HC job...)... or other coaches we don't even know about... Honestly, how many of us knew John Harbaugh even existed before he was appointed HC? Who knew the ST coach of the Eagles? Not many of us, I'm sure. And he worked out big time. I'm sure there are a handful of such coaches, hitherto nameless and unknown to most of us fans, who could work out just as well as Harbaugh has.
I know I'm being a dreamer here about his firing. His overall figures are still impressive, this season's not gonna be a losing one... it's only the tendency that's worrying. His first non-playoff season could be explained away by the exodus of leadership after the SB win. His second non-playoff season could be explained by the massive wave of injuries. But this time, there's no explanation. I firmly believe that this is at least a playoff-caliber roster, and this time even the injury bug was merciful on us. Nope, this time it was entirely on the coaching stuff - and the buck must stop at the main guy: Harbaugh. Unfortunatrely, it probably won't. It took a massively losing season to fire Billick, when it was bloody obvious for seasons that he had been depleted. I fear Harbaugh will get a third and then a fourth chance to ruin a perfectly good opportunity. The fact that we've missed the playoffs could be used to our advantage: we could start looking for a new HC ASAP, not with a month handicap when most of the best possible candidates are already taken...
If Steve does decide to pull the plug on Harbaugh, I'll happily take missing the playoffs as the price. This team needs a new HC - and NOW. And I'd wish Harbaugh all the best and success with his next HC gig - preferably not in Cincinatti...
I couldn't agree with you any better! I will say that I've always liked arbs and think he is a good coach but at the same time I've noticed that he doesn't seem to have that same fire as before we won the SB or even the two years after where we played competitively...he has clearly lost his touch but he also shouldn't take full blame, the Entire Coaching Staff has been Horrid! it's much like when a team loses more than not the blame gets set on the QB (he's the head guy) just like The Head Coach gets most of the blame so I see your points and Do Agree, I just don't think the fault is his and only his...remember our motto is The Team, The Team, The Team. #RavensFlock #BeatCincy #9-7
Frist thing first, I a no way, shape, or form scared of the Steelers! I know we can beat them! plus Big Ben played like garbage...(he got me 2 fantasy points, its the playoffs) we proved we an shut the run down! We aren't the #1 defense in the NFL for nothing!! We can easily go 4-0 down this stretch, but I see more like 3-1. btw anyone else surprised at how damn fast the NFL season went by?! Geez!
whats a guy like Butler gotta do to make this squad? With Perriman still pretty much untested, SSS questionable if he'll make it back as good as he was before, and all the injuries we had last year to our WR's, I don't understand cutting Butler.
Apparently get injured and be a bust like Elam lmao Ozzie has lost his touch ever sense we won the Super Bowl back in 2012....The Front Office Just Hasnt been the same Decision Making Wise....
How in the World Did We Let Forsett Go?!? & Butler But Kept Elam!!! What Is The Front Office Thinking.....It's moves like this that make me question the front offices decisions some times...really?But seriously forsett Shouldn't have been cut at all...
The Baltimore Ravens are the BEST Team In The AFC North! We Have a better team overall on paper alone than the Steelers or the Bengals, and the Browns are always the Browns so yeah, I said it here first, We WILL Win The Division This Year!! We will More than likely win at least 11 games, (I'm thinking more like 12 or 13 at most) The Ravens Are in the Hunt! Winter is Coming! and These Ravens are Hungry!!! #GoRavens #RavensNation
Check this out...we have a better offensive line than Pittsburgh, We have a faster trio of running backs than Pittsburgh. We have 4 TEs that are better than any of the Steeler TEs. And we have a group of 5 receivers ( Perriman, Smith, Aiken, Wallace and TBD-Waller, Butler, Moore) that will embarrass the Steeler secondary.
Add this scenario to the fact that we have a far superior defense to Pittsburgh, especially in the secondary.
This bodes well for us to go 2-0 against them and make it 6-1 over the last 3 years. That makes me smile.
The Fact that we have own them these past few years just Proves we're the Superior team! We have Owned The Squeelers Since like 2013 ha ha I still remember that game Flacco had against them back in the 2014-15 wild card, then he had a solid game against the Pats before Torrey just gave the game away...I Just Have a feeling deep inside me that this is the year we win the division or come very close... we are SI's "Dark Horse" Pick anyway. That has a nice ring to it, don't you thing?

That makes me smile too! I love rubbing it in Pittsburgh Fans facies around me when they Try & Talk Sugar Honey Ice Tea about Our Team, & they constantly bring up there 7 rings so I just bring up the fact that we swept them last year * the fact that we Won 7 of the Last 11 meetings!! Looking more like we'll sweep them again but I honestly see us dropping at least one this year! But I would love nothing more than To Trash Them Steelers on Christmas Day in Pittsburgh!!! Go Ravens!!
Does any body care what Joe accomplishes in preseason? He's a 7 year vet. The only thing that matters in preseason is that none of our best players get hurt. Play the scrubs.
In case no one noticed, this is an unbelievable offense. The line is top 5 and maybe top 2....Lewis and Stanley are monsters to go with Wagner and Yanda. Great draft by Ozzie.
When we put Perriman, Wallace, Smith, Gilmore and Pitta on the field the mismatches will be everywhere. Flacco should be in heaven. The speed of our backs with Forsett, Dixon and West is scary. This has the look of a top 5 offense and should put 30-40 points up a game. The quality of our backups is incredible. Aiken, Moore, Butler , Wiliams, Watson, Allen and Waller will perform at a high level. Plus having Hurshel, Jensen and Hurst gives us a really deep line. If Perriman stays healthy this is a lethal offense.
Our defense should be top 10. If Pees takes of the gloves and lets them play aggressive man to man then we will be a really tough team to beat.
9 year vet to be exact
Really Happy & excited to hear about Perriman being back & doing well, hope he stays healthy & Puts Up some numbers for Us! Go Ravens!!
I Love The Baltimore Ravens!!! Thinking about getting a Baltimore Ravens Tattoo When I get the Funds...this is the idea I have...something along these lines but with the SB Trophies behind the 2x instead of the rings being there. I also would like the 2x to be a little smaller & the Ravens Head To Be Bigger.
Excited to hear that Perriman is back on the field, Let's Hope He STAYS There this time lol Anyway that's some great new to me especially with everything going on in my personal life. Also I Love the pick Of SI calling us the "Dark Horse" pick to win the AFC North. I'd also like to add this note ( yes it's only Preseason) but We are the Only afc north team that's Undefeated so far.. 2-0 Pittsburgh is 0-2 (always good news to me, anytime of year) Browns are 0-2 and Cinchy is 1-1. Lets hope this carries over to the regular season.
The Closer we get to week 1 the more I get worried about our team, I will wait till 3rd preseason game when most starters on both sides play more to analyze any further but right now Me as well as other Ravens Nation attendee's are probably sweating a little bit. I know it's Only Preseason but still something got to give, yah know? Also What's with all this comments from some people stating we going all the way THIS IS OUR YEAR & SUBER BOWL, in August? Lmao I mean Come On! We aren't even close to being a Complete team and Fans Calling US Best Ever & SB champs lol Reel in the Reins a little more why don't yah. This team is looking more & more like a 9-7 team or 10-6 team but even that's pushing it. I wouldn't be surprised at all if we went 8-8 or 7-9. Which would be a HUGE disappointment, with the talent we have we could become a 11-5 team to 13-3, we just need to put the Puzzle pieces Together! Man I miss the days when we where the Top Dogs in the AFC North & Teams we scared of us & Scared to come to M&T Bank....No they Mock Us...At least we have had the Steelers Number as of Late, But even that probably won't happen again this year something just tell me that they sweep Us this year. All in All if the chips fall right we should be the second best team in our division when all is said n done. Squealers win the division but We come in second place putting Cinchy in 3rd.
Who mocks us? After one losing season in the past 8 years? Dont know who you're hanging around - but youre missing out on some pretty obvious come backs for any fan base that mocks the Ravens.
And people are excited and saying SB bound bc thats what its all about. Right now, the season hasnt started and everyone has an equal shot of winning it all.
Btw - we didnt just look like a 9-7, 10-6 team in 2012... we actually were and won the SB. Its all about getting hot at the right time, and having guys that can do it.
We have that. No reason not to be optimistic until proven otherwise.
I see what you mean I'm just being bit of a realist I guess. I see your point though & it's a good one to boot. people who mock us I meant the Nation al media, Steelers fans, Patriots, Any Fan Base That isn't the Ravens (But is a Relevant one). We are always being mocked & Put down as a Organization & a Fan Base...I'm Sick Of it.

As sad as it is and the day is coming, there are some guys that we would want to stay around that are going to be playing in a different colored jersey this year.
Butler may be the first. With Perriman off PUP, and unless Pitta goes on it, there isn't much hold out that Butler will be here. He's good enough to play, and when Camp or Perriman get injured we are going to wish we kept 7 WRs but right now, the numbers game got him.
I am not sure at this point if Buck Allen is going to make the team. Little to no production in the preseason, he really is doing nothing special to stand out above West and Dixon and that roster spot is precious. I think he makes it but to me he is really pushing it.
Elam is a foregone conclusion. Too many good players to waste a spot on the 53 for someone out for two months, if we put Pitta on the IR designated to return then Elam can't be on it, I say he plays somewhere else.
Jeremy Zuttah is not a name often heard of good or bad but based on what I have seen in preseason, after returning from an injury, Urschel beats him hands down as a center. Zuttah is getting manhandled, snaps are all over, he just doesn't look to me like a guy we need to keep with his salary and his production when Urschel has proven he can do it, and do it well.
Kyle Arrington. With his injuries and his play, along with some good young talent at CB this experiment has run its course. He may not even catch on somewhere else so he may not even be in another uniform this year.
Kendrick Lewis. This is where I am stumped. I spend a lot of time re-watching games on the NFL game pass app I have and he was just plain horrible last year. From what I have seen so far, he isn't any better. I don't know why he is, where he is on the depth chart. At the end of last year I couldn't even imagine he would be here for training camp, yet he is slated to make the roster. If anyone has seen anything Kendrick Lewis has done, please let me know because I have been watching and watching and I can find nothing.
Sorry for the length...
I agree with you from every aspect except I believe that Butler will make this team. We need the depth & he has proven he can play, something we have yet to see from perriman. I just don't have Faith in Perriman anymore, I don't see him panning out well fro this team, then if he does i'll eat my words. As for all other points in your post I agree wholeheartedly 100%
Well if anything the preseason is the best time to make mistakes so you can learn from and correct any issues for the regular season. Might have to bring back the team laps for everyone except the person responsible for committing the stupid penalties. This always seemed to work wonders as most players do not want to piss off the entire team like that.
The turnovers or rather lack of turnovers is a bit concerning but again they are not anything you can control that much. Being in the right position and keeping your head up and alert consistently will lead to turnovers eventually. Hopefully they are just waiting until the games count for real to break out the game changing plays.
I kinda blame Flacco for Pitta's latest injury. I mean Joe was pretty relentless teasing Pitta about being soft with the first finger injury. Plus now Pitta can't take the elevator because his finger isn't strong enough to push the button. Least he'll be in great shape taking the stairs for the next while...
He could just use the other hand....lol I think you where trying to poke fun but it was a horrible attempt lmao
This is JMO But I really feel like we need to just get rid of Perriman, I really feel like he will Become another Mark Clayton when he does play, IF he Ever Plays....Trying real hard not to call him a bust &/or Support him when for two years now he gets hurt & has yet to take the field....we just suck at drafting WRs in the draft...again JMO
you wanna let go of a first rounder that we only drafted last year? who by all accounts looked great in both offseasons before he got injured? you're not even curious to see if he can play at all - you just wanna get rid? Nobody said cut KLM or cut Urban and they were gone much longer than perriman. The team didnt even cut Elam after playing awfully his second year and then getting injured.
Anyone Can LOOK Great in Shorts & No Pads Lol

Dude Could BE Nice....If He Just Stayed On The Field!!! Get & Stay Healthy Camp!!
Great News For Sizzle!!! GO Ravens!!
I'm so shocked to hear that this family lives in Charles Town, WV Because I'm From There! It would be Wonderful to meet More Ravens Fans like these!! I am living in Charleston, WV which is like 7 hrs away but wow just to know they live so close to me is Crazy! RIP to Tom & Go Ravens!!!
Flacco as a tier 2 QB I can live with and is fair IMHO. He does have the ability to push into tier 1 territory when it matters the most though. I'd argue his ranking within teir 2 is a bit off, but then again they probably are looking straight at the numbers instead of W's and L's. All good, let the nay sayers you know..
Personally, I think Campanaro will need to play in all the preseason games to secure a roster spot. At this stage coaches know what he brings and can do on the field. He has to prove he can be on the field consistently week in and out. This is my choice for hardest potential roster cut this year, especially if Butler continues to makes plays/impress and stays healthy.
I see Ravens keeping 4 RB's this year. West looks ready to take on a bigger role and workload. It has been too long since the Ravens last had a bruising type back and West fits the mold. The only way they keep only 3 RB's is IF any show ball security issues.
I think Carl Davis is going to need a strong showing in the preseason to secure his roster spot as well. He has played well, but not yet shown much sizzle or flash and will need to take that next step forward to separate himself. KLM and Henry are going to be pushing him hard for a roster position. I don't see anyone having a clear advantage at this point.
Great Points & I Agree Whole-Heartedly! Great Comment!
"He is unbelievably physically gifted," an NFL coordinator told Sando. "He makes some throws that are unbelievable. But I don't think he processes things enough mentally to become a 1. I don't think he can lead a team or carry a team. He can take what is there, and if you give him help, he can be pretty good."
"Flacco has a little better arm and is a little more accurate than a Jameis Winston, but Jameis is not afraid of anything," an anonymous GM added. "Jameis is competitive and will stand in and deliver, where I think Flacco will see ghosts and get nervous and lose confidence. They have a lot of similar negative traits where they don't always go to the right spot, and lack some mobility."- So I guess when he went 11-0 in the 2012 playoffs he didn't CARRY the Team?! Flacco Can & Has Carried this team and his stats may not always show it but I'd agree that he definitely deserves to be Ranked over Manning & Romo who both haven't done SQUAT as of late!In all fairness, the #2 tier says that he can carry the team, but not consistently. I think we have all been witnesses to Flacco's inconsistency over the years, and this should surprise no one. Tier 2 is right for him. But I'm all for seeing him move up a tier, if he can with this dinged up receiving corps. Really need SSS and Perriman to come out healthy.
I agree with your points and you make sense in your argument. I'd agree with what you replied with just that I feel he should be ranked higher than 12.
Cam Newton Without a Doubt in my mind is a Tier One QB, Hands Down! I'd even Put Him Above Rapistburger & Rogers who had WAY more Talent and help on the offensive side of the ball, outside of the Defense..Cam Newton IS the Panthers. JMO
I've been sympathetic to Monroe, but hearing that he chose not to play a playoff game after having been cleared makes my blood boil. That could have made the difference between winning and losing that game - which essentially is the difference between getting to the Super Bowl and getting knocked out of the playoffs.
Re the Le Clos/Phelps picture, that is really out of line. I'm glad Phelps won and hated Le Clos' pre-race antics, but the guy simply breathes to his side. Nothing "loser" or "focused on winners" about that, though I recognize the picture can be fun to be taken out of context in the manner that it has been.
I agree with what you say about Monroe to me finding out that he decided against playing in that New England Game "which we should have won" is IMO marking him up as Soft! I don't even understand why we even traded for him....What a BUM! Stanley will prove to be a MAJOR Upgrade IMO..

I really despise these What this team said after whooping the Ravens articles....rubbing salt in the wound Ravens Writers....
