  1. The initial question asked why is Flacco inconsistent - I think the initial response has merit. The rest of the commentary was a result of letting Ray, talk and talk and talk. Flacco is inconsistent - why does Ray think he's inconsistent? Ignoring the rest of Ray's diatribe - I accept what he says about Joes passion and drive. Sighting Joe rehabbing his knee doesn't speak to passion for me, finishing the game after blowing up his knee isn't passion - that's toughness. What seperates great from good and this is exactly what Ray initially refers to. Everybody in the NFL is talented but to be truly great and consistently head and shoulders above your competition requires another level of passion, drive, work. This is what Ray is referring to. Joe and any of his supporters brush it off as his personality but he truly strikes me as just a meh kind of person - if he wins, it's all good, if he loses its not the end of the world. He doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who after a loss, will be studying tape, putting in extra work, won't stop until he literally can't do anymore and then he wakes up and gets back to it again until it's better or you physically can't do anymore - guys like Smith, Lewis, Brady do and those guys will be going to the HOF lot of talented people but to be at that next level takes something else and I don't think Joe has 'IT' Ray was just saying it, the rest of his comments whatever weve seen what Joe can do in the perfect situation but we've also seen that he can't elevate mediocre talent and he needs guys around him to elevate the offence is what it is - he's our QB, wish he just found another level of drive and passion - a locked in 120% over drive Flacco could be dangerous
  2. Admittedly their offense is rolling over everybody. They are riding a 8 game streak - doubt they're too worried about little Ol Baltimore. That's how we like it - u worrying about next week when we come in and smack you in the teeth!!
  3. i hope the team and coaching staff is as keyed in on this game as we are, this game has a playoff feel for mine, huge implications in the next 2 games could be the difference between no playoffs 3 of 4 season(if we lose the next 2) or being on the fringe of superbowl contention(if we play cowboys tough/ win, beat cinci) - other than the patriots, who we have shown to play tough - I think we'd back ourselves in against - Texans, Chiefs, Broncos, Raiders thinking we could sneak in under the cowboys radar - they're sitting pretty in the NFC - could drop a couple games and still be #1 seed if we come to play, with the kind of execution we showed at NE in the playoffs a couple years back, coming in with the extra rest fingers crossed january joe, playoff ravens show up
  4. Watched the Cowboys v packers and bengals - zeke has a lot of nice runs bouncing to the outside, we're stout up the middle - with pierce n Williams - going to need to set the edge well - send him to help inside. Also need to be prepared to contain Prescott, making a lot of plays rolling out of the pocket and scrambling, they also use a lot of misdirection, run some sweeps, screens for Beasley Really going to have our hands full
  5. Hopefully you're right and our anaemic offence can have some success against them
  6. no doubt the offence helps, giving the defence a breather and generally good field position but I think it's pretty ignorant to just say their defence is good because of the offence. Watched Cowboys v bengals earlier and watching v packers now - their defence seems very similar to ours - stuffing the run and good coverage from the corners, not a lot from the pass rush, coming up with turnovers We need to play all 3 phases well and hopefully we have more points on the board at the end of the day
  7. Geez just watching Cowboys put 3tds to nothing on cinci in the first half their defense is solid And dak is making all the throws going to be a tough game
  8. I'm hoping on defense Pees gets aggressive and we dial up some blitzes I think we're underestimating Dak if we think he'll eventually turn it over if we just contain, I'm more inclined to think they'll eventually pick us apart or methodically move down the field on us with their run game. Their offense is putting points on the board week in and out. While their defense is ranked 4th for pts per game, were 6th The DB blitzes we've sent have been successful or at least I recall a few successful ones - Powers has a sack against Pitt, Webb had one last night Id like to see us come out, we know we can contain the run, hopefully put them in some 3rd n long situations and be aggressive and send guys at the QB, given their line and our pass rush - Dak will have too much time and he's also making plays with his legs - lets not give him the option to sit back n think - lets blitz. I think we have some confidence in our corners to hold up individually - I'd rather dial up that pressure and live with the results than get beaten playing bend don't break what will it be Mr Pees - we've got 10 days to plan for the boys
  9. I wonder if his role up around the line is permanent or if they will look to move him back to FS next season if it ain't broke don't fix it, but I wouldn't mind a look at Elam at SS with Weddle sliding out the back
  10. Waiting til we play cinci and the pats before we claim teams can't pass on us the jets, Giants, raiders were successful against us, although if we'd had our current secondary jimmy, tavon, powers in those games - we may be looking at a healthier record
  11. Good to see powers starting to click, bout time one of the free agent secondary signings made a positive impact, other than weddle
  12. The bad - Pittas blocking, poor to non existent
  13. Ummmm rethinking, rethinking and yeah - I'm going to stick to my original statement - not going to jump to conclusions, would like to see what our defense does against a winning side, in their building. And I'll reserve judgement on an offense that looked poo for a half I'm optimistic but I'd liked to see how we perform against the Cowboys run game, a suddenly winning Dolphins side with a solid defensive front, a solid defense in the Bengals, and the Patriots offense ill happily claim how awesome we are if we get some wins through the next part of the schedule - just tempering expectations after these 2 wins good job by the coaching staff and the boys - did what we needed to do to right the ship - now we see if we can hang with the top sides - starting next week
  14. Think everybody's getting a bit excited about beating the worst team in the league
  15. All good, can always talk up our cases either way. See what we do against the Cowboys Kessler (rookie QB) dropped a dime on our defense in the first half, they were leading us going into the break. No idea why they benched him. If the Browns were going to get a win eeking out a 10-9, 13-9 kind of game would have been one of the more likely scenarios- it wasn't like our offense was setting the world on fire. anybow I digress - if we stifle the Cowboys I'll start buying into the top 3 defense
  16. I'm going to reserve judgement on our defense, we got smoked by the raiders and Giants And Fitzpatrick had some success against us too - other than that - were beating up on the winless Browns, Jags, Redskins, Ben coming off surgery. Lets see what we do against the Cowboys & Bengals
  17. Thought Perriman was lucky to have that upheld, needs to grab that cleanly, he's already cost us one game with poor red zone form
  18. Still no idea why the Browns changed QB - that helped
  19. if our second half offense shows up from the start, our def can get after a young rookie qb and hopefully our greatest strength nullifies their greatest strength - were in this
  20. ive never seen anything about dv - failed drug test, arrested being in another students room, poor academics, Sources Tell Us "I'm not sure he's a bad kid, but I know he hates school. He's really tough -- typical south Florida kid. You know what you get. thats what nfl scouting says - not everybody's built to say yes sir no sir, long as hes not a complete head case - sometimes i want some dogs like that, get their head right and point them in the right direction, channel their energy - good things can happen, bad things can happen too but i know did dumb Crap when i was young and wasnt a huge fan of school either
  21. Robinson goes a couple picks after Henry in the 4th - coulda, shoulda, woulda from the small sample size, what's people preference young in the slot or outside?? do we look to bring in an outside corner and bump young inside or do we look to bring in another guy to play inside or are we happy with smith, young, powers inside? hoping that he continues to hold down his current role and CB isn't a huge hole come draft time offseason
  22. Why I specifically asked the question - how much are we on the hook for with them. obviously it's nice to have depth but at what cost 80/20 rule and all that
  23. hopefully he settles into the role, keeps it up and we don't need to do too much in the draft or free agency how much are we on the hook for wright & powers - is Arrington still on the roster? im thinking they're all gone this offseason jimmy, tavon, slot? Canady, price backups - draft another slot guy
  24. Thoroughly enjoyed, although I must admit - watching the game I was a bit intrigued by the Steelers play calling - did seem to play right into our strengths. need to watch the coaches film, we may have had good coverage across the field and they were forced to run, or they may not have wanted Ben sitting in the pocket waiting for plays to unfold
  25. I was quite surprised they kept trying to run on us, particularly after the Giants gashed us. Maybe the change up in the secondary has paid off and their receivers weren't getting separation or maybe they didn't really want Ben sitting in the pocket be hard to gauge against the Browns, but looking forward to playing the Cowboys - to see where our defense is at getting Mosley back was big
