  1. seen it mentioned a few times by others that given its preseason and we generally dont scheme too much - hopefully once the real action kicks off - we can send him after the QB from some different looks, allowing us to try and create mismatches for him against tight ends and RB's, we've got 2 guys who can beat up on tackles, hopefully we've added another wrinkle
  2. as PAYING members / supporters of a team - pretty sure we can question or discuss whatever we want - at the end of the day the fans are the people spending their hard earned on tickets, merchandise watching games on tv - so that everybody from front office to players is getting paid. think this is how it works or did i miss something? interesting analogy re brain surgery except we're talking about SPORT, we see it with our owns eyes every sunday and even other days too, some people might have even played a little, some others might even coach - therefore I think people may be able to form decision on what they've SEEN, nobody says its right but it might have merit, clearly people have opinions and like to voice them, how dare they question decisions made by other humans for a football team? its sport mate, you know a game, we play for fun and watch for fun, chat about because we enjoy to talk about it, have a couple cold ones and chill out buddy if you dont want to discuss or as you say question the FO or read about it - dont read the thread - i put it over here with a nice big title - just to give you a little heads up about what it might be about it, also might keep some of the content out of other threads
  3. It's all discussion - any opinions or thoughts on the FO - let em rip, what a forums for. Personally I'm not too concerned or unhappy with the roster cuts, don't think anybody we cut will truly be detrimental to our season - trust the FO to make the right decisions with what we have assembled. A little concerned with what has been assembled in the first instance - ie draft picks and free agents brought in Concerned we haven't addressed the second CB position and frankly after the Arrington move, little sceptical on Powers and I'm reserving judgement on Webbs safety experiment, thought we may have targeted somebody in the draft or free agency nor overly concerned about the KR / PR situation but it just shows a lack of awareness or thought that we could be a week out from the season and we have no clue who'll be returning - if we lose a game due to turnovers in that area - I would place a lot of that blame on the FO & coaching staff for leaving that decision to the last minute and not having somebody who had at least gotten a few solid looks in the preseason Not a huge fan of the top end of this draft thought we could've gone after a corner and safety in 2 and 3 but that's just my opinion - tell will tell looking forward to seeing what moves Oz can make with the cash we've freed up - do like the position we are in, in that regard - should allow us to aggressively address any holes but thats obviously never our style but at least we have some wiggle room
  4. Let's get on the what have you done for me lately train - Boldin, Mason?? Feel we really let the foot off the pedal after the SB. Let's just look at this team over the last 3 years. I'd rather not reach Cleveland levels of futility before we question FO decisions.
  5. Why do you say such things about Pitta? Are you a fan of this team - go wash your mouth out with soap!!
  6. Totally agreed and this works both ways, obviously some people like moves and some don't, some think they will work and others don't. Im not shooting down any of the roster moves made today the end result lets everybody know if we're on the right track or not hopefully we're heading back in the right direction
  7. Dare say, the roster is a direct reflection of the GM's handiwork hence the discussion of said GM
  8. All I'm reading is a lot of good and nice - you need top end talent, a handful to be in the upper echelon. Ray, Suggs, Ngata, Reed, Rice - this level of talent needs to be replenished - it would be near on impossible to replace - I completely get that but you need to be hitting on your top end picks to at least sniff replacing that level of talent - our late round work and the fact we have a top tier QB is keeping us from being cellar dwellers but we keep completely whiffing on picks in the first 3 rounds and or even not turning up pro bowl level talent were going to be mediocre to picking top 5 a whole lot more.
  9. Why the hell didn't we get that done??
  10. Agreeing - our draft record of late hasn't been stellar - interesting to look at our level of players listed in the Top 100 - I know these list are bs most the time but we had 1 player listed - Yanda, were not sending people to the Pro Bowl like we used to - people might argue the merits of it and it's a team game but it's still a reflection of talent - ours seems to be diminishing. No General Manager is perfect but we keep touting in Ozzie We Trust - with blind faith and anybody who speaks out or questions gets negged off the boards. Kendrick Lewis, Arrington, Watson, early but I'll throw Powers in - he may come good - we all pat Ozzie on the back and say shrewd signing - In Ozzie We Trust, when they don't work out - Lewis is a back up most want gone, Arrington on IR do we didn't have to cut him, Watson never played a snap, in the last 3 years the decent signings I can think of were Forsett & Daniels who Kubiak brought in, Zuttah but we had to endure a year of Gino first, Smith but we had to endure having mediocre receivers for a year first - seem to be very reactionary not proactive - classic example we're looking at bringing 33 yr old Devin Hester. Anybody comes back and question those signings, or the recent whiffing on draft picks combined with our recent record and again you get negged off the board. Lot of one sided conversation, think people need to take the purple glasses off sometimes. Im hoping now that we've freed up a bit of salary cap space and hopefully added a few young pieces were moving back in the right direction but if 2 of the last 3 years have been ugly - I think it's fair to question decisions made at the top.
  11. I'm not advocating for Ed Reed to be defensive coordinator - I just think you find a way to get a player ( one of the greatest players to ever wear a Ravens jersey) with his knowledge and instincts involved in your coaching staff, Eds an Assistant DB coach for Rex, he's not the final voice but I would value his knowledge in one on one interactions and in the film rooms. if we kept him - would he have been any worse than what we wheeled out in his absence, also would players like Elam and Brooks have benefited from his knowledge - there's more to just what he brings on the field. 2 safeties picked in the top 3 rounds - one probably out the door, we're hoping the other one sticks not saying having reed there would have made it fantastically work and they'd be pro bowlers by now but what we did for those guys didn't work, maybe it's just them and we whiffed or maybe it was what was around them proofs in the pudding for me - whiff on one yeah but 2 - so high, you have to ask questions i dont have problems with harbaugh but I'm not just going to lap up everything spoon fed to me, I'm happy to look at different aspects and opinions - again I haven't seen the end results last few years so I question the methods don't make 2 out 3 we go 3 out 4??? I look at what may cause that or what I perceive may contribute to it - not saying I'm right, just throwing out an opinion take it for what it's worth Still love my team and just want to see them be successful
  12. No doubt it contributed to his choice and I must say I was not following the Ravens as closely at the time. My personal opinion is you never let him go, talk of conflict between the 2 because he doesn't buy in to Harbaughs system - whose to say Ed was wrong. Since our SB victory we are a pretty ordinary side - under .500 I think - so whatever the coaching staff or FO has done isn't working, yes we had injuries but every team has injuries. I'm not happy with what we've achieved since our Super Bowl - I don't think many people could honestly say we've achieved much or have anything to show for it - we've missed the playoffs in 2 of the last 3 seasons and we haven't even really developed any young players - which was the thinking behind the post SB purge I presume - what young guns have come throw in the last few years?? I think that SB was an accumulation of talent acquired prior to Harbs - with obvious complimentary pieces added under his watch Think Harbaugh n co started to believe their own bs, didn't need senior players to help run the team and help make us better and thought they could coach everything up Wheels had to fall off, we go 5-11 - people probably start thinking 3 years removed from a SB and we do this again we might be looking for new jobs - boom in comes the law firm - Weedle, Wallace and Watson - senior players across the board. All guys who seem like they'll play nice too, nobody that's going to speak out of turn. See how we go this year but I think if we struggle and don't make the playoffs - jobs are on the line 3 out of 4 seasons not making the playoffs isn't going to cut it
  13. Will happily settle for bend don't break in our first defensive outing for the season - no big plays, contain, keep everything in front of us, if we can come up with a couple of turnovers - like we've seen in the preseason (although we weren't lighting up interceptions, encouraged by turnovers in general) - forced fumbles, strip sacks, 1 interception, keep them to fg's - would consider this a solid start for the season on D - not expecting them to light it up - just be happy with no big plays. Joe looked SHARP in that limited game action - he was throwing bullets, think hes going to let it zing this season, just put it on his guys and from what ive seen im pretty confident in the hands we've shown, looking for a continuation of that sharp passing action interested to see what we look like in red zone action, this is where i have ???, will be paying particular attention to this aspect of our game - if we're going to play bend dont break d, we need TD's, whilst restricting the opposition to fg's - otherwise close games all over again.
  14. Agree 100% - lot of talk saying oh we picked up 2 picks for the trade back - that's awesome! Imagine if we'd hit on our 2nd and 3rd pick. cant believe we grabbed a developmental guy with one of the highest second round picks we've had in a long time - when we had soooo many glaring holes in the secondary and then took a DE with our high 3rd pick Going to throw it out there and say I don't expect much from Kaufusi moving on - guy was old to begin with, lost year - not holding my breathe for much from him - sorry Bronson
  15. That is very promising - through 4 games
  16. yep im a bit lost on your original comment. as for reed, come on he's not just a guy - he's possibly one of the greatest safeties to ever play the game - I'm not saying make him the coach of anything and set him up to fail. I'm sorry but I feel you have to bring him in and just make room for him somewhere - he can be some sort of assistant to somebody. Say this is a business and the goal of the business is to make money and this guy has made more money than most people in his industry - I want that persons knowledge in my business. NFL is a business - Ed Reed only had more interceptions than most going around, I need that knowledge in my teaching rooms, on the field, little word here or there (could have been the difference between Elam n Brooks balling out or busting - because they've shown they can play - maybe just needed some guidance, whoever we've got hadn't really provided it, if they're now sighting Weddle's impact) he doesn't have to run things - he clearly wanted to move into coaching, I personally would accomodate him and offer him a position within the organisation but I think it's somebody who has a whole heap of swag, with results to back it up - leads me back to questions about Harbaugh
  17. Did we speak to him about joining us in some capacity? my expectations of the secondary would not change but I'd feel pretty confident that we would see improved play from our safeties knowledge is power, I personally think you don't let instinct and knowledge and talent which ed reed possesses leave your organisation - you harness that and utilise it - who are 2 draft picks we lament their performance and lack of development the last few years - Matt Elam & Terrence Brooks - I believe that having kept Reed around and still drafting those players - they could of developed under his mentorship. Instead Elams about to be waived or has been, Brooks is hanging on for dear life. Yet low and behold we are hearing articles about how both players have really been coming on strong under Weddle's wing - we missed the boat here.
  18. Crazy to thing we can go into the season with soooo many receivers- talk about taking 7 and not have somebody we are comfortable with returning kickoffs/punts At the death, we're working out a guy who is 33 and missed a whole heap of last season - wonder what might happen to him at some stage this year, given that he's one year older, is there a strong chance he may get injured again?? I'm sorry but if this was a public company, people would be fired over this kind of stuff. Lets go into the season and hope that a guy who hasn't been healthy in his 3 seasons miraculously gets healthy and stays healthy - yep ok that sounds like a strong solid, likely to succeed plan - we happy with that - yep ok but just in case, we better get a back up, just in case you know, sure it'll be fine but just in case ok let's draft somebody with no return experience, who was playing as a qb last season, sure he'll be ok at it - yep great, solid backup plan i know clay didn't work out but damn with so many picks in the draft, you think we could have at least sniffed a return guy nope we were relying on a oft injured guy, a rookie whoever never returned and know looking at a 33 yr old who missed bill playing time last season. talk about playing well in all 3 phases - our ST had not filled me with any confidence this season, coverage has been horrible, few dropped punts, haven't looked dangerous returning - had a couple guys you think that was solid we could live with that but nobody you think oh damn he gets some space here - now we don't even know who's going to be the return man - come on get it together, why you get paid the big bucks
  19. Well I kind of felt like a large reason we took such a gamble on a player, who we would be asking to learn a new position and also practice and learn kick punt returns - as if he doesn't have enough on his plate just becoming s WR, was because he was Navy and we got to plaster it all over our site about how much of a fine citizen bla bla bla, really grew tired of it pretty quick and stopped reading any of it after a few articles - the kids a 6th round pick playing out of position- I said to myself - when or if he makes the team - I'll Bother reading this PR fluff. Maybe they should write a nice fluff piece on Alrx Lewis and his time spent in jail, we haven't seen too many articles about him even though looks like that kid is actually going to stick and could even start. Got nothing against Keenan or military just thought it was s bit of a PR play by the team
  20. We better bring both those guys back in some capacity once they retire, the whole letting ed reed go coach somewhere else is a disgrace - I do question Harbaughs character a bit here
  21. Got everything thing to do with him being Navy. only been following the team this closely for a few years - I was pretty surprised at the amount of coverage given to a 6th round pick, who didn't really have a position. We talked up how he was such a fine young man, navy this and navy that - seemed like most of the articles were on a personal note and about his character. Despite the fact we were trying to reinvent the freaking wheel - if you want a return slot guy, just draft one, it's a lot easier. We seem so intent on being this morally upstanding, holier than thou, pillar of the community, ever since the Ray Rice incident half the reason we brought in a guy like Ben Watson imo, he clearly was another Holy roller. im scared once Suggs retires we are going to be a team with no swag, or bite, meanness, got have a bit of dog in the team to be successful - particularly on defense - oh I just wrote all this and realised we'll probably have all our upstanding citizens on Offense and then we can let a few dogs in on the defensive side - ball so hard university!!
  22. And we've still got Steve Smith coming back. Really excited to see everybody healthy and up and running. Going to go out and call it, we could have the best receiving corps in the league this year
  23. damn, watched some of the game - the GOOD, the ohhh sooo good!!! PERRIMAN!!! just snagging a couple darts straight off the bat and making it look like its just a walk in the park, fighting over a corner and looking strong - as far as a little look and some game action going into the season - couldnt have asked for much more - a long ball maybe but damn, man looked like the business - keep it up young buck!!!
  24. Buffalo - win - get it done at home @Cleveland - win - Flacco throwing bombs, high scoring game, defense make a few timely stops @Jacksonville - win - Grind out W over young jags, with a couple of timely plays - not much seperates the sides Oakland - win - high scoring shootout Washington - win - slow start, do enough to get the w @NYG - win - go into NY and torch the giants @NYJ - loss - tough low scoring game - lose a close one Pittsburgh - win - shoot out, but we come away with it Cleveland - win - blow cleveland out the water @Dallas - win - they gash us on the ground, we hit them through the air, make a few timely stops and keep dez quiet Cincy - loss - cant get it going on offense, lose a close one Miami - win - ugly but we get the w @*New England - loss - brady gets a bovine skat penalty called for something and we lose a close onebut we get home to brady and lay some good hits Philly - win - come out bit slow after the big game against NE, get it done late @Pittsburgh - ?? @Cincy - ??
