All were gone in the top 10. That's not our fault

I am more bothered by the fail comment.  The Ravens defense was great with only a few problems the biggest of which has been addressed and even areas where the Ravens were strong on defense are now stronger.

It wouldn't hurt to have a safety learn behind them.

Weddle will probably still be starting until around the last year of Hookers rookie deal, maybe the 3rd year if we drafted him he could take his spot.  That is way too much waiting for the 16th pick when real day 1 starters are GOING to be on the board.

I hate siding with sami but this post is just hot air. Ozzie was by far and away the best gm up until probably the past 5 or 6 years. Other teams have caught up and probably exceeded him.

No team has a historic track record like the ravens.

Many teams have a better current track record than the ravens.

That's simple facts. Out recent drafts have been poor which is why we have been floundering since 3 potential future hall of hamers left.

The young talent hasnt been up to scratch and when it was we didn't have cap space to keep em

It's amazing how once the Ravens started being a perennial playoff team the drafts started getting worse.  It's almost like drafting later reduces the chances of getting the best player in the, draft.

I don't know who Skura is but unless he is experienced at center he is not going to help this year. The learning curve is too great. JJ Watt is going to eat this offenses lines lunch.

They decided to get rid of Zuttah on their own.  That means, that they must think they have an upgrade already on the roster which  means Center does not need a new starter.  This basically means the Ravens are looking for a new RT a possession receiver and a new OLB.  Those are the only true holes on the roster at the moment and everything else is just nice to have.

I love your optimism and would like to share it but reality keeps beating me up!

im seeing it more as pessimism in that reality says there are not 8 games you should be picking against the Ravens.  Obviously they will lose some games they should win and win some games they should lose but on paper he pretty much has it right. I would say Ravens are favored in about 10 of those games easily and I am probably giving the rest of the AFCN more credit than it deserves this year.

Oaklands offense (on paper) is going to be scary if Carr comes back healthy. The have a solid Oline, one of the best WR in the game and Marshawn running the ball (amusing he can get back into pro bowl form after the year off). Their defense looks scary too, but I would have said the same thing about their D last off season and they had a disappointing season.

The big question for that game is how close is Carr to 100% by week 5.  If it were week 7 or 8 I would say 100% a loss but early in the year the Ravens have a solid shot to pull an upset in that one.  Even without it though this is a pretty nice 10-11 win schedule with only 2 or 3 games that I would say they have little chance to win and even then they get rest before 2 of them.

Alot of our success against the steelers has been because weve been able to contain Bell.Hes the most important piece in that offense IMO.Even more important than Brown.Just look at how their offense looked in the championship game when he went down or how it looked when he was out of that playoff game we played them in a few years ago.Im bringing up Bells importance because we just lost both of our stud DEs and our stud ILB this off season.I want to wait and see how that impacts our run defense before I get confident that we can continue beating them. Then theres our pass rush.We got no where near Ben with Timmy,Doom and Guy and it kind of was what lost us that game.We should wait and see what we have there too before we get over confident about how we match up with teams.

That is why the Ravens signed Williams.  Its why having Jimmy is so important to the Ravens and its why now having a number 2 CB who actually belongs in the NFL (whatever you think of Carr remember the cowboys tried to find someone better for years and couldnt) means that once again they do not match up well.  The Ravens built there team to beat the Steelers and I suspect Williams got his bit contract in no small part due to the fact that they want him for the Steelers games to shut down Bell.

They have difference makers. Eifort, AJ Green, Bernard, Atkins on that Dline. A stud can erase faults on your team. The Bengals have playmakers

So why didn't they last year?  Their team is right now all of those "playmakers" but with even LESS talent around them then when they stunk it up this year.
