One reason to see whats wrong with this team is look at the payroll. Second you have a 60 year old picking players and 67 year old running defense in today's NFL.
I agree the Payroll is out of whack, but a persons age Doesn't mean anything.
Stop it. IF Jimmy did play the results would have been the same. This team is just not good enough. To many roster fillers drafted over the last eight years have killed us along with the majority of the early picks being MIA.
Did You watch the Game against the NY Giants, when Smith Shut down Odell Beckham in the first half. He had to leave and in the second half Manning and Beckham played pitch and catch to about 200 yards. The Game would of totally been different Yesterday if Jimmy smith was playing.
At this late point in a season, each team deals with injuries. Yes, Jimmy was out and Wright/Powers/Young gave up plays (Wright's covergae in the PI play was so bad, I doubt his ability to play in this league), but in my view, the passing game was opened up in the second half by Witten over the middle especially. There was bad alignment between webb/wedlle and Mosley/Orr in my view. AND: we did not have enough push on the edge at DL giving Prescott so much time in the second half, I hardly could not believe it. Even with Jimmy, how to cover TE and WRs of every team with that much time in the pocket?
What me concerns offensively is the play of TE group and Zuttah. Even though he played most games in this patchwork o-line, he is the worst one. He makes mistakes in pass and run blocking and commits key penalities week over week. Also, the center sets the tone of the o-line. I think we never replaced anything close to Birk after SB- his retirement is constantly overlooked as major setback for the offense since then! Pitta plays bad over the last weeks as well. He struggles to get open (maybe it is also wrong play calls as we are not using it much, only WR crossing/slants routes) and his blocking skills markably dropped. I see no effort in blocking. TE group was considered a really promising one, but injuries and bad play piled up. This takes felxibility away from the passing and running game.
Apart from that, we are still having chances to make the playoffs. 8-8 is realistic and may suffice. Key is to win the home games and cross fingers Cincy beats the Steelers in a couple of weeks.
Agree and Agree. 2013 with Gino Gradkowski was tough to watch. AJ Green might be out for the year which helps our games but makes the Pittsburgh/ Cincy game in the Steelers favor
The truly sad thing is, that like Flacco said, the Cowboys were completely beatable for us. But at one point it was as if our guys lost the will to win (outside of SSS ofcourse). It's not unheard of that a team loses momentum and players lose focus a bit, but that's when team leaders must step up. Players like Lewis and Reed would have never let the defense get sloppy like that. I remember times when Birk was pumping up O-line on the side. At the moment, this team does not have leaders like that. And that's why I prefer vocal leaders. Not stoic ones like Flacco.
I woulddn't call Flacco a leader in any way. He's play QB is the only reason why some people have to refer to him as that
A Leader can't make an Offensive Line not Commit Over 100 Yards in Penalties. He can't Play Cornerback when Jimmy Smith is out. He Can't make Dennis Pitta Learn How to Block. He Can't make the Referees call Pass Interference when it Happened though out the game.

Lewis and Reed are Hall Of Famers with their Talent. Reed would take away half the field away from a quarterback, that says more than yelling which Reed did very little of.
I'm not blaming defense for this loss. They have at least played at high level. No the total blame goes to the ineptitude of the offense and more specifically Joe Flacco who has dubious honor of the worst Quarterback in the NFL 2016.
Then you weren't watching the game. Joe was fine. Far from perfect but was fine. Penalties killed at least three drives. The officials screwed us and injuries finished us off.
Nice Hear a Person with Reason instead of someone with a misplaced Vendetta.
We need another big corner and a center. Why did we abandon the run? Oh well, the Cowboys ARE pretty good.
I agree we need a Center, someone like Maurkice Pouncey. In a way the Cowboys Defensive line was better than our Offensive line which kept committing penalties, except for the Zuttah hit on the sideline which was terrible.
WOW, one guy goes down and you can't win? That says your organization is built on shaky ground.
Not the Organization, but they one 1st round Corner drafted next year would be uplifting to the defense and the whole team, one big ripple effect.
Come next year only Weddel and Young would be the only players I would keep. J Smith is just another Webb.
Please, Smith is still in his prime, Webb can't play corner anymore. smith is of high value. When he was out in the second half against the Giants the defense fell apart, we need him bad, very bad.
Who loses their job first Joe Flacco or John Harbaugh for sticking with him? Will be interesting. Flacco 2 - Offensive Coordinators 0.
John Unitas, Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers couldn't do anything if this Offensive line keeps committing penalties.

Shortsighted Joe Didn't get the ball Hardly at all in the Second half and when they did the Offensive line committed killer penalties.
I agree with points 1,2 and 3 but we did run the ball. Dallas just started clamping down on it at some point. We need a consistent o-line and some damn corners bad! CB and S should be # 1 and 2 on our draft board in my opinion.
We started off running it well, 6 carries 71 yards in first Quarter, 6 runs 15 yards in 2nd quarter ( 86 yards in the first half ) then second half completely gave up on it only 3 carries 15 yards including a Flacco scramble and that was midway through the 3rd quarter.
That first touchdown drive was filled with power runs behind Yanda and Stanley with Juice in for 3 of those 4 runs.
1. 13 yd Wallace
2. - 0 West
3. - 4 Dixon
4. - 20 Dixon
5. - 16 west
6. - 18 west
First quarter ends 6 carries 71 yds
7. - (-2)Dixon
8. - 4 Dixon
9. - 5 west
10. - 0 west
11. - (-3 )west
12. - 5 Dixon
13. - 6 west
Second Qtr ends 6 carries 15 yds
14. - 0 west
15. - 6 Flacco
16. - 9 Dixon ( last run of the game at 6:27 left in 3rd Quarter score 17-10 Dallas. Also the Unnecessary Roughess on Zuttah play. )
3rd quarter 3 carries 15 yds rushingPut it in perspective Zeke only had 6 carries 26 yards in the first half and finished with 25 carries for 97 yards. So they kept running it regardless of lack of early success and despite them having exploited our secondary completing 17 out of 18 at one point.
Their was a lot of more Penalties to add in. Zuttah's Holding penalties, and Stanley's penalties put the Ravens in 1st and 20. 2nd and 25 or 3rd and long. Also, they didn't get the ball that much in the Second Half. The defense played off not to give up big plays and Dallas took short yardage at will. I wanted more running too but as Harbaugh said they were forced to throw.
OH, and maybe we should draft some more wide receivers again next year. Obviously the great Oz thinks that is where our problems are. Good grief.
We need to Draft Some Tight Ends. Dennis Pitta whiffed on 2 Blocks, he does not belong on the Line, He Has Zero Blocking Ability. We need a Big TE like Witten or like we had With Todd Heap.

Defense didn't play well. This is clearly on Ozzie. He got his cheap CBs Wright and Powers. Enjoy that money saved . Thank you.
It appears that the offense never clicks. Left too many points on the field especially early when they had chances to increase the lead. Are they really practicing enough? It just seems that other offenses are executing better.
The cowboys should of been called twice for Interference in the first half. One Db was holding Steve Smith"s arm with both his hands. Even the announcers said they got away with a lot. Too may penalties by Zuttah. The offense Ran the ball 3 times in the 2nd half and were playing like they were down by 4 TD's, Bad Coaching.
Maybe he should have test drove one before buying one but, to drop over 10 grand on 5, sight unseen is pretty asinine. Should have given one to each of his starting Oline.
I don't think 330 pound lineman could fit in their either.

Then Webb and ASA will fight it out for the return spot. Sunday will be Hester's last game in a ravens uniform - I can almost guarantee it. If ASA doesn't pan out by then Campanaro will be back up to speed and he will get promoted to the 53 in his place. Campanaro provides his skillset in the slot as well- while Hester is basically taking up a roster spot strictly just to continually give us bad feild position. ASA contributes in other areas as well-so a lot depends on if any other injuries occur at CB or WR- that may force their hand. I'm hoping that ASA cleaned up his ball security issues BC that kid can fly.
I agree the next roster move I see coming is Boyle to the 53man roster and Hester cut. I still think Campanaro will be brought on as well at some point...The question to me is WHEN will Camp be added and WHO is off the 53 man. Right now I really have no clue who the odd man out would be.
Thinking the same thing, They are pretty deep at running back and Taliaferro hasn't played since the Jets game, it might be him. They sure could use Campanaro.
I doubt Asa Jackson will be returning punts. As for tight Ends we need to get Nick Boyle Back next week. We need a Blocking TE Bad, Pitta looked Horrible against the Browns and we can't have him doing the same against the Bengals, Eagles or Patriots.
I would not be surprised if they "IR" Gillmore to activate Boyle next week.
Your Probably right, he hasn't played or practiced in a long time.

Nice to see that the defense is going in the right direction! Now think about how good they could be if the O is able to keep the ball moving and put up more points to pressure other teams!
Think How good the 2000 team was when the team didn't score a touchdown in 6 games.
I like Asa Jackson on Special Teams, but not as a returner. He also got some bonehead penalty's last year before he was cut the 2nd time. I want to know when is Campanaro coming back?
6 hours ago, Fastynart said:O baloney. The four game losing streak has nothing to do with the offensive line. That is not to say it has done its job, but the last awful showing, against a Jet team whose quarterback was so bad they benched him, yet he lit up the Ravens like the reincarnation of Johnny Unitas. Flacco has been on a downward spiral since the Super Bowl win. He was just awful in the Jets game. The offensive line gave him time and he couldn't even hit his receivers when he had it. Still throwing off his back foot. Still short arming passes into the ground. Still throwing over the heads of receivers. He should have been pulled from the game.
The Offensive Offensive line Couldn't get no running game started. 11 Rushing yards that is awful. The Jets defense was just sitting back waiting for the passes. I knew their was going to be interceptions before they happened. Yes Joe is playing bad he has been hit too many times. Hopefully Yanda and Stanley can right the Ship.
Whoa, Yanda has not hit the wall yet. He is just trying to do too much and is playing next to a weak center. In 2013 he got a lot of penalties playing next to Gino Gradkowski, and he is a sub for Carolina
If we can ever find a QB that can put 35-40 points on the board, the next day all you Flacco lovers will be saying " Joe Who "
haha - this is true. It's a "loyalist" thing. They feel that overlooking Flacco's massive flaws is what being a true fan is, and that calling him out on his poor play is being seditious. Loyal to a fault.
Being Loyal isn't a Fault. Loyalty is earned. No Quarterback could of put up 35 to 40 points with that offensive line.
Then again once you win the Super bowl and get MVP in the nfl what can you really care about football?
He cared enough to get a major knee operation thanks to Hurst. Go thru Months of Rehab, win 3 games behind an average line and lose 4 games behind the worst offensive line in Ravens history and ready to come back and beat the Steelers.

I thought the same thing until I factored in the Penalties. The Offensive Line Just couldn't hold up, but they could hold onto the other team for penalties.
