I'm honestly not worried about the defense. i'm worried about this 50/50 offense. The fans deserve to know more about these lackluster check down passes Flacco and our offense keeps doing. It's like watching a pre mature offense sometimes. Flacco will throw it to the FB who's only about 2 yards ahead knowing he's about to get lit up by the defender shadowing him. I do not understand why this offense is still running these plays.

What is it?!?!? Are the receivers not getting open fast enough?? If so why haven't they made adjustments or audibles to counter the blitz?

Are they not putting in the effort during practice to be a more consistent/dangerous offense? We had that one great game against the Dolphins but we should not settle for that.
The fans deserve an honest answer from this organization on these check down passes Flacco is throwing over and over again, because it's happening in every game that we lose/

They need to run the ball, and run, and run. 52 passes to 15 runs is Terrible. You can't have Play Action if the Defense Knows you are going to throw it all the time. When Kubiak was Coordinator he kept running and Forset got most of his yards late in the game. The Patriots had a zone dense and rushed 3 players alot, and we didn't run? The OC needs to get on the ball and say "Run".

  2. here's the thing we saw last night:
1- Pats good coaches vs our lame coaches, if they have the WRs we have, they would be blowing out teams every sunday, our problems with the offense are all on the coaches, they dont adjust to the 3-4 man rush.
2- why we keep abandon the run game? ppl will say we were dowing a couple scores. will they're rushing 3-4 man pass rushes, with the way dixon and west running i would take advantage of that. the run game is the ravens bread and butter, the run game opens up the pass game for the ravens. just look at the pats last TD, guess why weddle got sucked by the fake playaction.
3- hester should've been cut like 8 wks ago, just saying, a lot of screw ups with him. just cut him and promote camp, can't do any worse.
4- elam is a bust, again cut him and let lewis harris or someone to take his spot, can't do any worse.

Great Post, a lot of thinking and not going for the easy quip of bashing Flacco.

  3. 1. NE was the more desperate team. NE had to throw the kitchen sink at us to win. First use of no huddle by NE outside 2 minutes with Brady this year, trick plays, brand new defensive game plan, and ST tricks. We couldn’t handle it this time, if we make it in and play NE again, they will wish they held something back because we will end them.

    2. What did West do to get in the doghouse? Dixon is not ready to be the feature back despite second half running. Dropping passes and taking the safety in the first half was terrible. Whoever decided to move away from West –this year- should be fired. Nothing more needs to be said, Dixon may be OK down the road, but not this year, and he is no power rusher, great after contact, but not a power back like West.

    3. Hester is afraid. Despite the blocked FG, ST for the Ravens is still excellent. The “score not being as close as it was” is a false narrative, the first was a fluke yes, but our ST caused the second fumble, there was no garbage time scoring. This is the worst reasoning and shows poor ability to break the game down, just lazy commenting. If people make this claim, they are deluding themselves and may as well say the Ravens let the Patriots into it in the first place and then hang around because of Devin Hester alone. If teams can cover Hester immediately, he is worse than a liability, if he has room to move, he is still an OK returner.

    4. Harbs and crew are protecting Elam for some reason.

    5. Receivers didn’t help Joe out, and neither did Mornearwig with the game plan and adaptions. Wallace’s complete whiff on the interception is intolerable and the announcers should have pointed it out.

Extra Credit – Belichick blames Harbaugh for deflategate and they are no longer friends. The end game ”handshake” said it all. Belichick hates Harbaugh.

Number 3 I totally disagree. Hester is afraid and is letting the ball drop and not catching it , but when he does get room like you say they commit a Penalty. Even on Fair Catches I've seen them flagged. I would rather have Webb or Chris Moore back their and Fair Catch and tell the other players stop holding and blocking in the back.

  4. Pass rush...without it, it will be just like the last time the two teams met in the playoffs. Suggs, Elvis, and Pees hold the key to beating the Pats.

Our Secondary is way better than last time. We had Elam, Hill, Stewart, Rashaan Melvin, and Webb at Cornerback. I think Tavon Young against Julian Edelman will be the key to the game. If he can stop him Brady is gonna freak out.

  5. I'm surprised that Taliaferro hasn't went to IR.  He wasn't a key contributor, even when he was healthy.  I would have thought they would have IR'd him and called up Campanaro to the active roster.  That way, if Hester struggled or got injured, you'd have another option at punt returner.  Also, Chris Moore hasn't done much, so you could activate Campanaro and inactivate Moore, and give him a small look at a few snaps on offense.

Lewis not being IR'd doesn't surprise me since we aren't desperate for that roster spot.  He is our best backup option at tackle if he is healthy.  The Ravens don't want to IR him, then have a tackle go down and have to start Hurst (in a possible playoff run)

Gillmore, I'm a bit surprised but we haven't gotten consistency out of TE, especially from a blocking perspective.  Again, not desperate for a roster spot, so no harm holding on to him in hopes he can get healthy and make an impact.

Totally agree on Taliaferro for Campanaro. Chris Moore is very Good on special teams and has 2 touchdowns, and Harbaugh Loves special teams players. We need to draft more offensive lineman next year, need better backups then Hurst.

Instead of criticizing the fun kicking rule, or beating up on players and calling them busts, I think I will talk about something relevant like our run defense, who by the chart is tremendous so I would like to mention 2 things.

    1. Sign Brandon Williams. Just do it, no excuses, I don't care, he is like Ngata in his prime, or better, we need him bad. Other players improve when he is playing beside them. That is a person we need to keep as we have few of them on this team

    2. Lets shut down the Miami run game and make Jay Ajayi useless and then lets go to town getting Tannehill to throw balls to our secondary. Granted, our secondaries not so great on the catching side, but I think we are due for a couple interceptions in this game once we shut down Ajayi. Tannehill is known for poor decision making.

    Let's go Joe... Go Ravens!!!!

    SLIDE!!!!

To be honest, in my opinion Brandon Williams is not as good as "Ngata was in his prime".

Ngata was a Beast and a 5 time Pro bowler. Also, helped Suggs get a Defensive MVP in 2011.

  7. Joe is atrocious, I hate to sound like a broken record but the guys mechanics, footwork, release, etc.. are trash. Remember Trestman said he was going to work with Joe and get him to release it faster and all the good mechanics went to the dump to get him to get it out, supposedly to hit open receivers, who now can't get open. Face it, none of that crap we were fed worked and Marty is trying to piece together a garbage system the whole time we have a QB who can't hit the broad side of a barn and should take a pay cut to put those pieces around him he knows he needs to win. If Flacco looks at film and doesn't think he is robbing someone, then he has no morality. I would like to think he's not the I soaked you too bad you made a bad deal guy and will work that deal because it is a horrible deal for the team. He is not a good QB, he's not even a good backup NFL qb. When are we going to do something about getting him to drop his salary to get quality players or when are we getting rid of him. Has to be one or the other because people will be fired because Bisciotti isn't putting up with this for the length of Flacco's contract. Joe was borderline pre-injury (thus the elite, not elite crap) and post-injury he is 5 more years of this trash. Don't think Steves buying that.

I'd like to see you hit the broad side of a barn with 4 people 6 foot 4 and 275 to 330 running at you.

  8. I'm glad we won. But man, this team is still very far from being a threat IF they make the playoffs. Today, I saw some of the worst play calling on the offensive side of the ball. In the first half, Ravens were nearing the red zone, it was 2nd and 1, and they called a FREAKING HB DELAY that got blown up. THEN, they run the off tackle on 3rd and 3, and that too got blown up. It was absolutely atrocious. In the second half, it was another 2nd and short, maybe 3. They're in the gun, defense shows a double A gap blitz. Flacco then audibles, then goes under center, and the run goes RIGHT INTO WHERE THE BLITZ WAS!!! I simply could not believe it. This game should not have been close. But when you have a moron at QB and a moron calling the plays, welp, you either lose, or barely win. Unbelievable. I hope they watch the tape and say: "What the hell was I thinking there?!?!"

Flacco has a College Degree, Wife and Family, lots of money in the bank and a Super bowl Trophy and win = Winner.

  9. After taking a 10-0 lead, the Ravens failed to reach the end zone again and failed to put away a team on the brink, forcing the defense to hold on at the end. “We’re not going to survive” playing that way, Ravens quarterback  Joe Flaccoicon-article-link.gif  said,

Still, no one in the locker room was sugarcoating what happened on that side of the ball. Yet again, the Ravens started fast but pretty much came to a halt. “I mean, you can feel it,” Flacco said of the momentum waning. Indeed, you can. So what happened? Well, the Ravens went 0-for-6 on third downs in the second half. Quite simply, they stopped making the plays they’d made earlier. It’s called inconsistency, an issue the Ravens offense is still battling.

^ The Ravens offense was atrocious today...as usual!  They went 0-6 on 3rd downs in the second half.  Just disappeared...again!  Trash!  But, this was suppose to be their "breakout" game huh?  Smh.....

They were 5 of 16, what game were you watching?

Everybody is so quick to just blame everything on Joe. What about Terrance West only getting 8 carries the ENTIRE GAME!!! and Dixon only getting 6 for a total of 14 RUNNING PLAYS!!! THE ENTIRE GAME!!! Are we going to blame Flacco for the 136 penalty yards too? Don't think Flacco was flagged all game!! Should we blame Flacco for Zuttah's personal foul that negated Dixon's 9 yard run that would of had us 2nd and 1 but instead put us 1st and 25 and an eventual stalled drive?? What about the missed block from Pitta that led to Flacco's sack that ended a drive?? Are we going to blame Flacco for the poor coverage and tackling by the secondary and allowing a rookie QB to throw 3 td's and pick them apart?? Are we going to blame Flacco for the lack of pressure on the rookie QB after the first defensive series?? Should we blame Flacco for the defense allowing the Cowboys to score a TD on a drive that they started out 1st and 30??? Maybe we should just have Flacco, snap it to himself, block for himself and then run out and catch a pass himself - that way when we blame him for everything it might actually be his fault.

You people are the same ones that if you were to get pulled over for DUI blame the cop for pulling you over never once thinking it's your fault for drinking and driving in the first place.

And for those who want to blame Flacco's salary - just think we are paying Webb $9mill this year....is he worth it????

It is not the responsibility of the QB to get the team fired up to go out and do their damn job that they are getting paid hundreds of thousands of dollars and even millions to do. Anyone that puts that on Flacco is an idiot.
