This article is so full it, it's hard to take seriously. I don't think the Ravens have improved much at all from 2015. They still have the same issues they had the prior year: blowing leads, no running game, questionable coaching, very boring to watch, just to name a few.
very boring to watch, just to name a few.? That was one of the best games ever Sunday. It was compelling and came done to the last minute. We didn't win but that doesn't make it boring.
It will be tough working around Joe's salary cap number. The highest salary of any NFL QB when averaged over the life of the contract (per the Cheat sheet)... for the 25th rated QB per PFF. If they can navigate that obstacle then Ozzie will have earned his money.
Hope they can renegotiate with Joe to free up some money, he has been treated very well and needs to think about strengthening the team!
If you won the lottery are you gonna give some of the money back?
Well Ray and Ed and others were here when we were had losing seasons before Harbaugh got here. And as soon as he took the reins we were in the playoffs for many years in a row. How do you explain THAT!
One word "quarterback" 13-3 with mcnair 5-11 the next without him....rookie d2 qb and rookie special teams coach was carried (dominant run game, ferocious defense) to the afc championship game
McNair didn't start all the games he was hurt a lot, Kyle Boller was 2 and 6 in half of the 2007 season. Harbaugh benefited from players being healthy and Draft Picks stepping up and starting in 2008.
Totally disagree on saying this team didnt underachieve, Eisenberg.
Any time you miss the playoffs you under achieve if your the Ravens organization, any time you dont make any kind of playoff run its a bad season.
Last year was a fluke because 20plus injuries, this year was 2 fold season long lack of commitment to running the football, which eventually would catch up to this team and Jimmy Smith being injured in the biggesr games.(Nyg,Steelers,Cowboys,Pats) all probably very different outcomes if Jimmy could stay healtier throughout his career.
Finally Steve B put the hammer down on demanding pass rush last year, yet they passed over local stud Yannik Nkaqwe, Noah Spence and many others for bums and nice guys like Correa and Koufusis.
We are done with nice guys. How many times does Mike Preston have to say it, fans, hosts on 1057 the fan, we need the edgy, nasty players back.
They better draft 1-2 15 sack dpoy von miller, sizzle in his prime type edge rushers this year, and another elite cb since jimmy is always hurt
My wish would be
Ravens are currently sitting at 16
Rnd 1 pk 16
Olbr/de charles Harris Mizzou, Barnett Tenn, Smoot Illinois
Rnd 2 Cb Tredavious White Lsu, Jordin Lewis Mich, Cordea Tankersley Clem,
Rnd 3 Amarah Darboh Wr, Dede Westbrook Wr,
Rnd 3 comp for KO Budda Baker S/CB, Eddie Jackson S
Rnd 4 OG /NT Mason Cole mich, Vanderdoes ucla,
Rnd 5 NT/OG
and nice guys like Correa and Koufusis.? Do you mean Bronson Kaufusi? He broke his leg in training camp what does that have to do with being nice?
Ravens have been 31-32 since the Super Bowl and need to realize that for 3 years, that their pass rush and DBs have simply not been good enough. We can't give 15 yard cushions and expect to stop anyone -- Wright?
As we look towards 2017, things will, unfortunately, get worse before they get better. We have to hope that Alex Lewis can replace Rick Wagner at right tackle and that we can find a reliable G and decide if we have a center to replace Zuttah -- who was rated as the worst center twice in the past 4 years.
But a first positive step would be to stop drafting players with huge flaws. We drafted Perriman and the knock on him -- he drops passes. Two years later, he runs bad routes and still drops passes.
By the way, for all of the Flacco haters, he once again showed that in a big game he can be counted on. He drove the field repeatedly and gave us the chance to win that our overrated defense gave away.
Flacco did have a great last drive and took a lot of time off of the clock, Just not enough.
We've heard this "close to being great" stuff all season. In a game where three 4th qtr touchdowns are scored against you, it didn't come down to "1 play". Once they scored the 1st and even 2nd TDs it was time to change the defensive playcalling - adjustments on the fly just aren't a strong suit for the Ravens - whether on offense or defense.
Defense problems nobody talks about that. Since the Patriot game every team is running over the defense, we were number 1 but might drop out of the top 10 this week. Also, the defense was only on the field 25 minutes, they shouldn't be tired?
Harbaugh is still one of the better head coaches in the league. Our play calling is what has been absolutely killing us. Norv Turner at OC and Rex Ryan at DC?
Oh God, no Rex Ryan. I want nothing to do with either one of the Ryans. And besides, he'd never come back anyway....
Amen!
This season has been a disappointment...last year injuries cost the team the year before that we were contenders....When you achieve none of your goals from the start of the season it's a disappointing one
Glass Half empty Glass Half Full. The Month of October sucked but overall it was compelling football games and great entertainment what would you rather be doing Raking leaves?
Harbaugh is still one of the better head coaches in the league. Our play calling is what has been absolutely killing us. Norv Turner at OC and Rex Ryan at DC?
No Rex Ryan Ever. He is too Much of a distraction.
Brees with 623 attemps has - 4858 yds and 35 TDs with 14 INTs. Flacco 4050 with 20 TDs and 14 INTs. Nothing to write home about in my honest opinion. Flacco played poorly and inconsistently all year with a couple of decent games. Candy coating this doesn't serve us well and he needs to be held accountable for his poor outing and not lauded for his first 4000 yd season. Sorry I am a Flacco believer and fan, but the truth is the truth.
Can't blame it all on Flacco. The system was not set up well from the start. No consistent run game and when you expect a 37 year old, Mike Wallace a burner, and Breshad Perriman another burner to play in a dink and dunk system catching hitches all the time it won't turn out well. The team needs to go back to the deep passing game.
Totally agree. But we need to get better in protection. Roethlisberger barely broke a sweat and didn't get sacked once. West and Juszczyk missed blocks and gave up easy sacks. Also, until the other Team knows the Ravens are dedicated to the Run they are gonna play Zone to take away the deep ball.
Chicken Little Baltimore fans. Still rearin' their loser heads: "Fire Harbs. Joe blows. Can't watch this team anymore. Yadda yadda yadda."
Sack up, son. You look pathetic.Harbs should be Fired He is horrible clock management ,Horrible game time adjustments ,doesn't use personnel correct ,does not know when to run or when to pass, when I sit on my couch and call the plays im pretty sure other coaches also know and last but not least Missed Playoffs 3 out of Last 4 Years where else can you work and Stink 3 out of 4 years and still have a Job
8 and 8, 10 and 6 and maybe 9 and 7 isn't stinking up the joint. If somebody said last year that we would go 6 and 2 at home and maybe 5 and 1 in the AFC North this year, I would of been Psyched. The 4 game losing streak in October was too much to overcome.
Juice is one of the most consistent players in the NFL. He's a underdog MVP. You can always count on him. As well as Tucker.
I'm glad they used Juice well yesterday, but it took almost 4 years to do it. I hope we resign him Before March 1st.
What IFs? if we're playing this game let's go back earlier in the season when our head coach kept going for it on 4th down, early in games instead of using the #1 kicker in the league - that's at minimum 2 games just this year. Last I checked the record is a reflection of the head coach... except in Baltimore. IF the MO plays out as in the past ~ a coordinator gets fired.
Don't forget the fake field goal with Tucker throwing in the wind.
Is it just me or did the Non-existence of ravens defense and the Non calls on pitt (holding) make it look like this game was scripted?
Scripted? I thought so. The announcers kept talking about the Steeler's like they were winning and never Mentioned they sucked in the 2nd and 3rd quarter. I Guess the NFL network had their agenda and 2 football shows afterwards on Former Steelers to keep people around for. Also, a former Steeler in the Booth what a nice touch.
"Ravens need more playmakers" - More like Ravens need to utilize playmakers. This coaching staff is something man. Every week Dixon outplays West, yet West gets more reps. Every week we talk about running the football and proceed to throw 70% of the time. How do we not take shots with Wallace deep? Or allow Perriman to win jump balls in the redzone? Using Pitta past 5 yards. Feeding SSR and allowing him to get yards after the catch.
The "high completion" short passing game was our offensive identity this year (along with many 3 & Outs). Flacco finally gets to 4000 yards but we all know that isn't the recipe for success.
Pees usually does a great job against Pittsburgh but that soft prevent that allowed Steelers WR's to stop the clock (every time) on the final drive was terrible. After Juice picked up that first down, I wanted him to knee it at the 1. Run more clock and score. Sucks to suck John.
How do we not take shots with Wallace deep? Poor Blocking, West and KJ got Flacco blown up by missed blocks. We need a new Center , Left tackle and maybe a Right Guard if we lose Wagner to free Agency. Hopefully Joes Knee will be better next year, because he has to run or make the appearance of running to keep the defenses honest
Harbaugh hasn't even used the Veto Power yet and they want him to stop? He needs to get in Marty's ear and tell him to run at certain moments. Early in the game to keep the play action in use, and late in the game to milk the clock. Kubiak was great at that with Forsett.
Oh heavens no... You mean to tell me Flacco wasn't selected? I wonder why? LoL!!!!
Did you happen to see the verbal exchange on the NFL channel with Ray Lewis and they were announcing the QB’s? Even other NFL players were making fun of "Ray's Guy" Joe. Joe better pay attention or history will show he was just lucky and his contract was unwarranted.
Quick...Pick one. A QB who puts up numbers and wins NOTHING (Example-Rivers and Ryan) or a QB who is good and has the ability to lead his team to playoff wins and a SB Victory.
Matt Ryan is having a great year because of his coordinator Kyle Shanahan, we could of had him but the Ravens don't wanna take a chance on someone who could become a Head Coach, like Caldwell or Kubiak.
All deserving players. Weddle is a snub for sure. As a side note, what other G made AFC roster besides Yanda? Thats right.. K.O. Now I know its hard to pay 2 Gs but Ravens had 2 HOF Gs, they should have kept them both.
Now were going to get a 3rd round comp for ko but our interior line woukdve been set for next 5 years with Yanda&Ko best Gs in nfl.
Now ko will protect Carr in a high powered offense and go to pro bowl every year barring injury along with Yanda, and Ravens had him. Smh.
2 HOF Gs? Way to soon, this is K.O's first pro bowl, Yanda has 6.
I am so happy we got Weddle. He's the closest thing to Ed Reed in the league. I hope we are able to keep him around till he no longer wants to play. Go Ravens!
I like Weddle, He is the best we have had since Ed Reed, but lets not get carried away. He couldn't carry Ed Reed's shoes when Ed was in his prime. No one threw deep on the Ravens when Reed was back there. Several teams have not only thrown deep on us, but have connected for touchdowns and their guys were so wide open you had to wonder if there were even safeties on the field.
That has more to do with Jimmy Smith being injured and not going to a Zone defense until last week against the Eagles.
To even have a shot on Sunday, our defense needs to perform like it did for the most part of the first 14 games. We must completely shut out Bell, force Ben to look for Brown and pray we can limit their aerial assault w/o Jimmy in the lineup.
Otherwise it might not matter if we were to rush for 200 yards and Flacco threw for another 300. We would still probably be out performed offensively.
My point is, we can't allow it to become a shootout. Even if we could keep up with the Steelers in that style of game, it would come down to who can score more TDs. And I haven't been exactly filled with confidence when watching our offense go at it in the red zone.
I think the run defense suffers from not having Jimmy Smith in their. They have to allocate resources to cover for Shareece Wrights liabilities. It felt like they were playing Zone defense instead of Man to man. Without Jimmy Smith you can't shut down Bell and Brown, you can only hope to contain them.
23 minutes ago, AirforceOne79 said:The usual lip service that's been going on all season. Team just isn't any good and I wouldn't be surprise if they lose to the Eagles. To be completely honest, the Ravens don't need to be in the playoffs, because they are a one and done team.
There are 4 one and done teams every year. Since Harbaugh has been here they Have won all of Their First games, So I wouldn't discount them.
We've been working on "fixing things" since September. When will they actually get fixed?
We've been working on penalties since we were complaining about Michael Oher getting 4 a game 8 years ago. Seems the problem stems from exactly where the coach has repeatedly said it stems from, coaching. Discipline is solely the responsibility of the head coach and for 8 years he hasn't figured out how to teach his offensive lineman how to not commit a false start. 8 freaking years.
I was a little hard on Joe after the Patriots game but after re-watching the first half I have to agree with respecttheraven, our receivers dropped more passes than they caught. Wallace cost an interception and just straight out dropped a TD. Perriman was caught in la la land out on the edge when a ball smacked him in the chest when he wasnt looking. How can you blame Joe? Between penalties and receivers who have grease on their hands, as much as we get frustrated with Joe as the game winds down, had those who needed to take care of their own business earlier in the game had done so, it wouldn't have ended up that Flacco had to hurry us down the field.
Let's hope they get it together before these last three games however, I am not holding out much hope but the silver lining is we had a great draft, if we can follow that up with another one, lock up B Williams and a few others and we will do far better next season.
Perriman its either Feast or Famine. Brandon Williams should be Franchised at least. Draft and free agency we need 3 DB"s , 3 offensive lineman, and another pass rusher. Might be losing Wagner. I can't figure out the false starts on Offense, but the penalties on special teams are worse. They put the offense up against the Goal line. Well at least Hester is gone.
need to make cb the priority in the offseason because brittle jimmy will always miss games every season at the worst time. tavon will continue to improve but he is suited for the slot or against smaller receivers. im disappointed with the front office for not making it a priority after that debacle in ne 2 years ago
Draft and Free Agency we need to pick up 3 new CB's.
When I saw Brady showing that high emotion and fire on the sideline, I couldn't help but say "I wish Flacco was like that". I knew at that point in the 1st quarter that the game was over. Flacco cannot match the competitiveness of Brady. Only Ray Lewis was capable of pushing this team over that edge.
Which is why I was upset at people who criticized Ray for criticizing Flacco. I do not know what goes through some peoples mind, but when a legend like Ray Lewis gives out criticism, especially to a player that is playing for the team he fought for, you just shut up and listen. I'd take Ray Lewis over flacco any day...point blank. Flacco should have been thankful to get those words from Ray. he only said it because he truly cares about this organization. Unfortunately there are people in this Ravens organization that never gave as much as Ray did, but they feel like they are in a position to downplay his words.
Ray Didn't throw 11 touchdowns in the 2012 Playoff run.I really don't care what Ray says he is retired, move on.

I agree on not hiring Gase, but Kyle Shanahan would of been a nice hire after leaving Cleveland in 2014, he is doing great in Atlanta.
