I personally love the draft "On Paper" because it looks like they addressed every need and "Playmakers" need..
But If this draft fails in 3 years.. Im in the group of Fans who are in the "Harbaugh PowerTrip has ruined this franchise" because ever since hes been in power as head coach..we dont take Alpha males who might challenge him.. who might be the next Ray lewis,Ed Reed.. we take "Good little soldier/Character guys with lower ceilings like Elam, etc..
    Thats HARBAUGH..

Ozzie picked HOFrs before Harbaugh showed up..he didnt forget how to draft.. Harbaughs power trip ruined our player selection proccess...
Instead of taking a Ray Lewis,Ed Reed..the Ravens woukd now rather take a "YES MAN" Bum player

So. you love the draft and in 3 years, if all goes well, you can tell everyone how you loved the draft, in spite of many others questioning it

... and if in 3 years the draft fails, you can tell everyone how this draft was ruined because our picks were driven by Harbs forcing the FO in selecting subservient players.

Sounds like a rigged deck to me.

I agree, we don't pick alpha males no more.

I have to agree with you 100 percent. IMO Bisciotti became very embarrassed when Rice was tied to the domestic violence charge but mostly it was that shocking video. I think he laid down the law that now the FO has to deal with. I think the fact they traded out with Spence there was proof. Well, Steve, the NFL isn't a temp personnel company and these guys are type A, virile guys who are on the spectrum for violent behavior based on their training both psychological and physical. They are living on the edge of fame and bust, being millionaires or having to shovel mud for a living. They are part of a very violent sport. The Ravens have to stop drafting the Boy Scouts, crossing guards and teachers pets. Today's players are no different than past players, the stories are documented, but in today's social media world, surveillance cameras and big brother, they are under incredible scrutiny. Bisciotti needs to stop tying the hands of these guys because this was not an Ozzie draft. History shows Ozzie didn't shy from these guys, in fact, he was drawn to them and Modell gave him the reins. Bisciotti needs to give Ozzie the reins back or get out of the hot seat if he can't steer the ship.

I'm of the opinion that Steve should be respected for maintaining a consistent contender while also trying to assemble a team of quality people. I think this was a priority prior to the RR thing, and it has became THE priority since.

As mentioned before, in the end it's his money and he can spend it the way he likes.

Hey Tank I agree with you on this one.

  3. The Ravens will be forever tied to the Dallas Cowboys denying a trade up for Jalen Ramsey as well as passing up on Myles Jack in the second round. We'll see how everything plays out. It was a safe draft, nothing too risky, nothing flashy. I am intrigued with the direction this team has taken since their inception. They used to grab tough physical guys with less emphasis on conduct or character. The NFL image has changed and I suppose so have the Ravens. It's not just about talent, the injury bugs over the past several seasons and off the field issues linked to our team has definitely traumatized us, and this draft full of safe draft full of durable and fairly decent character guys (with one or two exceptions) was proof of that

I agree with your assessment too. I was a little disappointed to start off with, but I kind of tempered my tone as the draft went along.

Alot of narrow visioned fans are wetting their panties, but Ozzie has been nailing everything so far.

We've had 3 consecutive years of secondaries that have gotten shredded, years by the way in which, on aggregate, we have a losing record. In those years we've had no serious 2nd starting calibre CB and have stuck an undersized coverted safety with 2 torn acls as our 2nd corner in Webby.

I wouldn't consider this "nailing everything so far."

We haven't drafted this high in over a decade and what's the first inkling? Draft a LT and trade back twice to stockpile mediocre players.

( personal attack removed) qWhen I said nailing everything, I was talking about the draft so far. Not the IR lists of the past two years.

But since you want to bring that up, the reason we've had problems with our secondary for the past two years is because almost the entire secondary has been out injured during that time. We've been sourcing DBs from local high school JV squads the past couple years, just so we could have enough warm bodies on the field to avoid a forfeit. I'm as irritated by the injuries as anyone, and I want the organization to get to the bottom of it. But what do you propose? We already have 7 CBs on the roster, and I believe 5 safeties. You want us to use early picks to draft even more!?! I realize that your knowledge of football is on par with your expertise in rocket sciences so let me clue you in....there's a maximum limit of 53 roster spots. We can't use 25 of them on DBs. Between Smith, Webb, and Weddle, and an assortment of decent B-list players, we're actually pretty well off in that department. We just have to keep them healthy.

Our biggest weakness the past couple years has been the offensive line. Even two years ago, when we had 10th stringers plugged in as starters, we STILL did a pretty good job of shutting down even the Patriots in the playoffs. Or don't you remember that they had to pull out trick play after trick play in order to win that game?

If we're going to have a $22 million QB, then we HAVE to have a line that can protect him. And since we couldn't afford to keep KO, getting Stanley was really the only acceptable option.

not speaking for him but my interpretation is
we have never had a problem drafting linemen in the later rounds
certain position the FO really draft well
I agree the FO could have gone a different direction
all of our pics being good but none standing out,
our players drafted was safe angelic choices
if you want a team to get over the hump
then you need certain players with certain traits
I agree with the gentleman, for me
I do not like the picks
but only because of the character traits,
killer instincts is desperately needed here
we have no killer instincts on this team

I agree we need players with that killer/junk yard dog instinct.

  5. I don't feel like the team we have right now is any better than the team last year. Ravens needed impact, game changing players. What OZ decided was more picks, more "guys". We needed a star. Sad to see other teams get it. Taking risk to get blue chip players while we move back to pick 4th and 5th round guys hoping to find a diamond in the rough instead picking up the diamond in front of you. Spence and Buckner will tear up league.

I agree with you on this.

  6. Here's hoping Aiken stays at the right price. He showed value and vast improvement last year, just need to continue with consistency. If for some reason Aiken leaves, I fully expect Ozzie to draft a replacement with the #2 pick received in exchange, otherwise for once I will be upset with Ozzie's decision making ability. It really should not have been too difficult to work out a favorable contract with Aiken. He has had some success trending in the right direction, make a contract that rewards him fairly for production and does not hinder the team if there is regression with a way out. 1 yr deal with option to extend for up to 3 yrs. This would also ensure that he remains competitive.

    I agree.

I saw Zach Orr and Mosley cover last year and they couldn't cover my little sister. All teams will have to do is send their receivers downfield and throw to their tight ends and backs who will have 3 steps on the defender. + So here we go making cap room because we overpaid Flacco again. Yes teams want quarterbacks but if we released Flacco do you think anyone else would pay him $120 million after his production the last 3 years, and if they did, there is a team we can beat. And yes, people will blame the fact that Joe didn't have the talent around him but catch-22, can't afford support players when you overpay your qb. If Flacco has a horrible year again this year, people will be booing him off the field, demanding money back, and calling for Ozzie's head, like they have been the last 2 years (mostly because of Flacco). Why couldn't we do more with incentives for Flacco and tied it to production instead of just giving him the keys to the bank and let him choose. I don't think losing Flacco would have been as bad as people pretend. If you concentrate on defense, like we have always done and get a good young qb, like we did with Flacco, we would be fine. What decided the last super bowl, defense or offense? It was clearly defense.

The Ravens tried focusing on defense without a good qb, and we went 7 years without winning a playoff game. That was with Ed Reed and Ray Lewis in their primes. With Flacco, we have been SB contenders 6 of 8 years and won more playoff games than anyone. The last time he had a reasonably healthy offense around him, he was once again the best qb in the playoffs, and he put us in a position to knock off the SB champs. The reason for our recent struggles has been the flukish amount of injuries, not Flacco.

    I agree.
