  1. Agreed. It's hard to tell because he hardly interviews. Plus I can't seem to find anything with him on what he does of the feild. If he volunteers anywhere or what his major even is. I can't get a good grip on the type of person he is because he's so secluded from media Edit: he's a sociology major like 50% of all football players lol
  2. Ya I agree on Williams, he for interview pretty well from what I see. McDowell just seems to avoid interviews and he kinda has an attitude in them I think. He seems very annoyed throughout the very few interviews I've seen of him.
  3. He's one of those guys that you can't watch enough tape. The more you watch the more you like him. Sometimes it's better to laugh at how good he is rather than scouting him. He beats double teams and triple teams like they're high school kids. Best one to watch is his tape vs Notre dame when he destroys 2 potential first round picks in next years draft. Can't remember their names but they play left tackle and left gaurd
  4. Just imagine. We would only need 4 guys on the line at all times lol. 2 OLBs, then Malik McDowell and Brandon Williams inside and let teams decide which one they want to double. If we put 5 guys down I don't think anyone will get 50 yards in a game on us lol
  5. Ya i wouldnt put McDowell at nose either, I think Michigan st did that because they had no one else who could command a double team lol. I think he would be great in our team as a 5tech or 3 tech. He fits our gap responsibility scheme very well. He just knifes through the line whenever he wants.
  6. Well to be fair his character, effort and football iq it does kinda leave a sour taste in your mouth. Like @rossihunter2 was saying in the mock draft from media thread. It is a very fair argument and a main reason why I kinda forgot about him, or made him an afterthought. But all this talk that he might slip out the first round just seems obsurd
  7. Ya I see where your comming from. But how hard is it to learn a defensive line playbook lol. "See ball get ball" that's all I'd want him to do. We want our defensive line to penetrate and disrupt the play behind the line. That's what Malik does best. Besides I'm sure we'll do our due diligence and if we feel he can't do it I don't think we will pick him.
  8. @JoeyFlex5 I'm with you. His tape doesn't lie and I think a big part of his lack of effort has to do with how bad Michigan st was. He was constantly double and triple teamed and he probably got tired of it..i know I would lol. I think there's a point where you have to look past certain character problems and his issues aren't anything major. There's no drug issues and no violence issues. I think our locker room would help him out and Harbaugh and Joe Cullen will light a fire under him. Imagine, with Malik and Bwill; we won't need more than 2 dline man at all times and we'd still stuff the run lol. Sometimes I just have to laugh when I watch Maliks tape because he literally can't be blocked when he's on his game.
  9. I look at Kyle kalis as a possibility. But I agree with what Joey said. I'd prefer wormley in the 3rd if he falls there
  10. I like him. In the second round for sure but I still think we can find better value and wait till the 3rd or 4th round for a dlineman Only first round dline guy I'd consider is McDowell
  11. You nailed it on the head. Couldn't have said it better. Now, the elephant in the room. Maliks character and effort seem to be an issue but should we give him the benefit of the doubt? I mean he played hard on tape until Michigan st was pretty much done. The kid was the only player on his defense that could do anything positive and you can tell it frustrated him. Maybe he was been saving himself for the next level and trying to avoid injury. I mean he played nose tackle half the time and got double and triple teamed all the time. I'd get pretty tired of dealing with all that myself.
  12. I think if I were to re vote on who I "predict" we will pick. I'd go Malik McDowell now.
  13. Ya I get that. But his film.....sheesh...nobody can block him. I'd love to have suggs mentor him. Show him how to be a pro. He made Notre dame's oline look like fcs players lol. And they got a couple first round picks on that line next year I feel like sometimes it's better to look past the off the feild stuff (can't believe in saying that). I mean he really hasn't ever hurt anyone or did anything stupid in any regard. Especially when the kid has top 5 talent which Malik does.
  14. Who saw voch lumbardis video of him saying Malik McDowell is better than Solomon Thomas? It's honestly pretty good and I've been turning on McDowell quite a bit at 16. Voch seems to selling him to me lol
  15. Lol ya Barnett all day in this cenario, the picks from 11-15 look very questionable to say the least
  16. Passive???? I just don't see that on film. He's very physical and aggressive from what I see. Agree to disagree
  17. I just feel like his arms were huge. Like linebacker arms. Maybe style of play, but like I said i can't really find much of a comp to Davis. Let alone I don't like doing comparisons much cause every player is different in their own regard
  18. The biggest smoke screen I think I noticed was the mentioning of John ross and Mike Williams as too receiver prospects and mentioning Corey Davis as just "another guy". He could very well be our top rated reciever, high production, great character and elite level talent @JoeyFlex5 I have a hard time comparing Davis to agholor and TO for that matter. Agholor hardly ever went up for contested and wasn't nearly as physical either. TO was also much bigger I think but it's a solid comp otherwise...i can kinda see it. I just think Davis is his own breed. He's kind of in the new mold of receivers. I honestly was just looking deeper into him today and I like how he fights for the ball in the air.
  19. I hope he goes top 10. Or at least top 15. That would help us out tremendously. Even more so if 3 rbs go top 15. Make a better player fall to us at 16
  20. He really never had to face any complex routes in the pac12 though. I mean all they run are about 5 routes in that conference. Slants, 9s, outs, ins, and curls are all he really had to know. I think he might have a hard time with more complex route trees at the next level. He's bound to be a bit raw considering his extremely short football career. His hips are great and feet are fluid but he's def not polished by any means. I think it just comes very natural to him. He's one of those natural athletes and that shows with all the sports he played in highschool
  21. He seems like a good kid and gives 100% effort every game, that's a big thing to me. This guy has probably the best motor in the draft. I always liked him a lot but I still feel there could be better options at 16 yet that doesn't mean I'd be mad if we picked him.
  22. This is why when looking at a prospect I always look at their hips. When looking at their hips you can see how much room they have to grow into their body. If their hips come out wider than their torso or thighs then they haven't maxed out their body to their full potential. One guy that comes to mind who is maxed out is takk McKinley. The guy is just a freak of nature. He may be a little stiff but he's got good enough flexibility to play in a 3-4 and just needs to be taught some disengaging moves as he has none. Even if it's only one or two for his first year it would help him emensly. I think he's much better than ogbah or Odigizuwa(if I spelt that right). I just see him bend well enough to be successful,he has decent flexibility and a much better first step
  23. @rossihunter2 @Edgar I think Witherspoon is so overlooked because he is so raw. A lot of teams prefer not to have a project with a high draft pick. Awuzie cam come in and contribute right away while im not sure ahkello can do the same. He's very slim, very slim. He has no physicality in the run game and it will take some time for him to develop and fill out his frame, not to mention he only had 1 int when he had his hands on 23 passes, I'm sure some teams will question his ball skills. I love his coverage skills and his character, everything about him says he will be successful, however, I think it will take him some time. You have to remember he didn't play football until his senior year of high school. If you read what I wrote about him above you'll see that he's one of those late bloomer kind of kids. He didn't really grow into his body until later in his life and there's nothing wrong with that, just some teams prefer not to wait
  24. What I will say about Williams is that he's great at using his hands. He doesn't get stalled too often because his hands are so fast and violent. He also had great placement with his hands which throws tackles off balance. Anderson does this well too, I think it's just the Bama coaching to be honest
  25. Those of you who don't know about Ahkello Witherspoon's journey to the NFL. It's quite the story.... @BOLDnPurPnBlacK @rossihunter2 His father, Lucky, was a running back at Nevada. His grandfather, Jimmy, was a blues artist who had a number one hit on the R&B charts in 1949 called "Ain't Nobody's Business". Witherspoon's given first name is actually James, but he goes by Ahkello, the first of two middle names (Elec). The pre-med student went to junior college after high school to play football; he was 5-foot-8 as a high school senior but listed at 6-foot-3 during his one year at Sacramento City Community College Top games as a senior in high school: in a 23-20 win over River City, he had three tackles, with five points scored on kicks (2-3 PAT, 1-2 FG, the latter good from 35 yards); he missed a late field goal try to tie the game but on the next drive, intercepted a pass on defense and returned it 34 yards to the 4-yard line, setting up the winning touchdown with 13 seconds left in the game. He also lettered twice in basketball (point guard), averaging 16 points and seven assists as a senior, and two times in baseball (outfield), owning a .300 batting average with 21 stolen bases his senior season. He also played soccer as a freshman. He is majoring in EBIO (Ecology & Evolutionary Biology) at Colorado. He has aspirations of becoming a doctor after his football career is over. His hobbies include playing basketball and singing (particularly rhythm and blues). Goes to show that everyone grows into their body differently, I think his lack of football experience and the fact that he was so small in high school explains his lack of physicality in the run game. In an NFL weight room he will get bigger and stronger. I'm sure of it. I'll be rooting for this kid for sure
