I was gonna say the same thing- I think it's more of a compliment to perriman than it is a knock on walker.I hope the fact that Walker has been having trouble staying with Perriman says a lot more about Perriman than it does about Walker.
Definitely fired up about this-
Asa has looked really good in preseason- I think it's him or carter
Is it crazy for me to say that so far boyle is looking better than maxx? From what ive seen, which isnt much , this dude is killin it!
question answered. just what i was waiting to hear too. Just read that cj mosely took even longer to sign last yearIs it normal for a first round player to take a few weeks to sign?
I havent heard anything about waller being injured- im hoping that guy meant to say julian. Thats the one thing we have to avoid and we will be spectacular- INJURIES
100% agree with the entire post- took the words out my mouth.Yes, it seems like it may come down to Carter vs Camp. With the secondary woes of last year, I don't see the Ravens keeping 7 WRs. The 6 to me are - SSS, Perriman, Marlon, Aiken, Waller and then a choice between Camp/Carter with Butler on the outside looking in. Love Camp's heart and toughness but hard to choose that over Carter's speed and quickness.
Â
Also, there's always the pre-season "injury" that puts a guy on IR
It is too early to tell on Waller- I think a lot of ppl are just assuming bc if his size and the type of offense trestman likes to run that he will be a lock. And they very well could be right- but if he can't run the routes effectively it will be somebody else. I have high hopes for him though. If any injuries occur with any of these guys (heaven forbid ) it might work itself out and the decision will be made for them .
Yeah I just asked in another thread if it's normal for first rounders to take a few weeks to sign? I'm assuming it is, I can't remember how long it took our past first rounders.
Is it normal for a first round player to take a few weeks to sign?
I disagree with a lot of you on Aiken - this guy ended up playing a fairly big role for us last season and made some crucial catches . Don't get me wrong - anybody can perform badly in camp or be out of shape and be cut- but I definitely wouldn't say Aiken is on the chopping block. I more so see camp as the wildcard - yes I know almost everybody here is really high on him - and if he stays healthy I think he's got a good shot - esp since he will be in the mix as a kick returner. I just see him having to battle it out with carter. Obviously SSS is a lock- our only returning 1000 yard receiver- and he will be kept for leadership purposes if anything . Might be his last year- and just the fact that harbaugh said he will be used in a more limited role kind of makes me think we might hold on to 7 Wrs , esp. If one if them is used as a kick returner. Perrimans a lock- our first round pick to replace Torrey and stretch the feild . Marlon brown is a tough one- Id like to think he is a lock- my gut tells me he's a lock- but there's just something in the back of my mind that's skeptical. Yeah they said his role last year was decreased bc of SSS coming in, but that's just hard to believe. I don't know what it is, bc it seems like he catches everything that's thrown at him- maybe it's just a seperation issue.
Idk, but I think he could posssssibly be the odd man out. Hate to say it, and i could be dead wrong. Waller is a lock- our 6th round pick, tall and fast, fits our scheme for what trestman wants to do, big redzone target. I don't know much about worthy or butler - but with all these other guys they will really have to shine to make it. So to sum up- 1)perriman. 2) SSS 3) Aiken 4) Waller 5) Brown 6) camp and carter fight it out for possible final spot and the KR/PR position. I guess it's possible we hold on to a 7th - but definitely not likely. Also does anybody think we might actually use somebody like marlon brown or camp for trade bait to shore up another position of need? Hasn't really been mentioned - but given the number of talented receivers somebody's gonna be the odd man out- so we could trade one of our proven commodities and give one of the younger guys a shot. All I know is I would hate to be the coach that had to make the final roster -sure is gonna be tough .
Boyle just looks like a beast. He's definitely gonna be one of our top blockers and will really help us in double tight end sets. Trestmans gonna have a ball creating a play book for this roster.
I don't see brown or Aiken getting cut. I also am pretty high on Waller and don't think our 6th round pick will get cut. That said I do not know a whole lot about carter - so I'm not gonna act like I do. The same with butler. Just from what I've seen from the other guys I just have a hard time seein anybody beating them out- however I am gonna do some homework on carter so I can be a little more objective - bc I have been hearing a lot of positive things.
This guy does look pretty smoothe in the little bit of tape I've seen.
He definitely could stand to get a little quicker- he seems a bit slow off the ball just from the few minutes of tape I've seen so far from camp. Ofcourse like I said earlier they aren't really playing at full speed without pads on and speed isn't one of his known attributes anyway. That said I am still highly optimistic on this guy and he will only get better. Boyle looks pretty beast too
like the F.O said - most of his drops were at the start of the season and decreased as the year progressed - insinuating that it isn't really a technique thing , it was more of an execution thing and that it's something he already has been working on and getting better at himself. After going back - I watched the remaining UCF Games with Bortles. Those 4 remaining games (Not from the ones I included above) were Akron, Louisville, Connecticit, USF.
Overall, these were probably some of the worst games of Perriman's sophomore year, but there were still some fantastic plays made. For a 20 year old WR only a few years into learning the position, I think it's normal to expect a few poor games. Akron is really the only game that would make me "concerned" but it was the first game of his Sophomore season and I'm sure nerves played a big role in the drops.
- VS Akron - this was a pretty terrible game for Perriman, but also for the entire UCF team. I saw Bortles fumble 3 times, and 4 drops overall by his receivers. 2 of those were from Perriman and they were pretty inexcusable. By far his worst collegiate game from what I could tell, and he still had a long touchdown.
- VS Louisville - there must have been an injury or something in this game, because Perriman barely played even when Whorton went out. I saw one "drop" but it was really an overthrow by Bortles - way too much mustard on an out-route and the pass went off the outstretched hands of Perriman. There was also a fantastic back shoulder, turning, sideline grab from Perriman in this game. Go to 4:15 to see this play.
- VS UConn- Average game from Perriman. UCF dominated the entire game and didn't even really need to try going deep, but Perriman still made a few plays.
- VS USF - noticed 1 drop, but also made the game winning Touchdown catch.
I actually just posted the same thing a few minutes ago- if anything he will be kept on as a returner - but Waller more so fits trestmans style- and we already have a handful of other talented receivers so he will really have to be lights out to make the roster. It could be 7 WRs, with Carter on the roster as more of a KR than a WR.
Waller seems to be a coaches' pick, and I think they want to keep him there to develop. It's a Trestman type of guy and he's been working heavily with Engram already.
I just don't see how we will be able to keep deandre carter - or else that means one of the other guys gets cut. So who's it gonna be- we already have SSS , Aiken , brown , perriman , camp , Waller , butler, worthy , carter - obviously there's no way we can carry that many . Would be nice if we could keep him on as a kick returner - I just don't think it's very likely.
I'm aware of that, the question still remains. He went to the Eagles at #20.
had a feelin you were going to say that- I actually accidentally left out the part in the texts from that jets game where the ball attendant dude (McNally?)actually said something along the lines of "Brady was upset about the balls", and then something like " yeah the refs screwed us they checked them afterwards". (Again I'm paraphrasing) - but yeah obviously this means there intention was to play with deflated balls but things didn't go according to plan that day.Even if that were true, the Jets game scenario only basically shows that Brady did NOT cheat during that game. If he's complaining about the pressure of the footballs, that likely means that they weren't deflated to the level he wanted, meaning that they were legally inflated. So in that instance, he wouldn't have even violated any rules.
it's so funny to think thatThis may be the best Receiving group that we've ever seen !!!!
Weeks before the draft ppl were saying the exact opposite. The minority of us kept sayin- just chill- let Ozzie do his thing - the draft is approaching. But no , nothin but panic. Thinkin Ozzie was done after the first couple waves of free agency, pssssh. And he still ain't done. He just saved us so much money and got us extremely younger. Almost time for them cuts and oz will be waiting to pounce. Can't tell much from the little bit of footage so far- but everything is looking good. Maxx Williams looked kind of slow- ofcourse they are not really playing full speed and that's not one of the attributes he's known for anyway. Perriman looking excellent from what I can see - so excited for him to be coached by engram and to be under the wing of SSS. Also have a really good feeling about Waller. This guy just looks like he's ready to ball. Anxious to see more from the defense.
I agree if your just returning kicks. But if your returning kicks and playing wide reciever obviously the more your on the feild - the more tackles your subject to- the higher the chance is for injury. But like you said feild position is extremely important- that's something the coach has to consider.Field position is so important, I think you have to use your best possible for the job. I don't think returners get injured more than anyone else, as long as you keep Trawick away.
I like the analogy but it's a little off base. When you join the nfl you are mandated to do certain things like take drug tests etc. - but turning over your phone isn't one of them . If I was innocent of any wrong doing I wouldn't turn my phone over either.(not saying that he is) , in my opinion that part of it isn't the same thing. But even without the phone records there is still proof that he lied and it does seem like there was an effort of a coverup. So I think that will definitely come into play when a punishment is delivered- I just don't think him not turning over his phone is relevant. Even if it doesn't look very good. 12 games is way too harsh - compare that to the suspension Greg hardy just got and you will have another public outcry ,I could see the headline now - " the nfl places deflated footballs and domestic violence in the same category"For the most part I agree, except with the length of the suspension... I think the initial action dictates a four game suspension, but something more must be done about the lack of cooperation after the action. The situation comes across as a conspiracy to cover up wrong doing. The suspension should be four games for cheating, and twelve games for the cover up. The difference between this and PED's is that there is some definitive proof with PED's so there is less argument and rarely is there a cover-up. I can't recall a single player that adamantly denied using PED's and if they did it didn't matter, they failed the drug test, they were suspended. Tom Brady just attempted to cheat on his "drug test" (the Wells investigation) by refusing to "pee in the cup" (turn over his cell phone) in this case the NFL MUST assume the worse case scenario and MUST deliver a harsh, swift punishment.
. I mentioned this in another post already- but if I'm not mistaken they have texts from earlier on in the year after a jets game on a rainy night in foxborough where Brady was complainin about the pressure of the footballs. It was also said he performed pretty badly that day- not that I think it matters. Not sure exactly where I heard this but I know it was circulating around several media outlets including espn- not sure if it was in the actual wells report. I for one ain't readin that massive thing ! But you can pretty much gather from that it was done more than once. That's not guessing that's actual evidence. Whether you choose to believe the evidence is on you. But common sense tells you they are not going to do something like that for the very first time in the championship game risking being punished right before the superbowl unless they've done it before and thought they could get away with it. Once again- if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck it's a freakin duck. No need to overthink it.In theory, that could work. The problem is... we really only know for certain that Brady used deflated footballs for a single half and nothing more. We can guess and play the "well clearly its not the first time he's done it card", but that's all it will ever be... guessing.
The only other thing we do know is that for the next 6 quarters after that, he used legal footballs. So again, if we compare the two, he was significantly better with legal footballs.

Wallers gonna be a nice asset this year. I can feel it. I think trestman and harbaugh both are really high in this guy and I expect him to be utilized heavily . Just hearin that psl conference where harbaugh was already talkin about linin up Waller in diffrent schemes and what not gives me the impression he's pretty much a lock.
