With this defense even if Joe were to get hurt I fully expect Mallet would be able to atleast get us to the playoffs. If the Texans can do what they did with Brock last year then there's no reason why we couldn't do even better. Shoot we won a Superbowl with Dilfer. I think people are sleeping on Mallet. He's a very serviceable QB and that was probably one of our most underrated signings thus far this offseason. Great insurance policy.
Honestly I feel like the steelers had one of the strongest drafts out of all 32 teams. Hurts to say that but I can't lie. Esp for where they were choosing.

How so ? Tak went right about where I said he would. Williams fell even farther than we expected but we picked him... Dawkins went right at the very end of the 2nd.. Witherspoon went in the third...and the rest is yet to play out. Only thing I was wrong about was Rasul lasting that long and Golladay ( which nobody really expected him to go that soon)
So while I wasn't correct about many of our actual picks ( none of us really were) I'm just curious how it wasn't realistic AT ALL? Nearly every pick was right in the ballpark of where they ended up going..

Not sure about barnidge but certainly the other 3.

Yes sir!

Pshh #1 or bust. If we were #1 the majority of last year with shareece wrong and no pass rush imagine what this year will be like.
1 hour ago, jar2260 said:The defense better be ready to score some points, Joe will be running for his life, and the run game will be non existent!
we pay Joe $20 some million, and don't protect him, WHY?
The OL will be addressed. Several players in FA left as previous poster mentioned- King Dunlap and Mangold still sitting out there, and they are seasoned vets as opposed to grooming more young guys beside Stanley and lewis. Imagine a line of Stanley- Lewis- Mangold- Yanda - Dunlap. We also are very high on on Deondre Wesley and Nembot. So we will have good depth as well. Remain calm and let Ozzie work.
Look out for Josh Reynolds, King, Kazee, and Donnel Pumphrey.
Alot of people are praising them but I think the browns are absolutely foolish for not taking Watson at 12.
So is cooper kupp not considered a second round talent anymore? Seems like he's slid a bit and is looked at as more of a third round guy..
11 hours ago, LosT_in_TranSlatioN said:Then Take OJ Howard, or David Njoku. Or something along the lines of it! There was better value on the board! We need playmakers.
I'm more pissed off than anything that we YET AGAIN Neglect the offensive side of the ball. Joe isn't superman. He needs help. Mainly on the oline.
What do you mean YET AGAIN ? didn't we specifically draft a franchise left tackle last year at #6 overall? Didn't we address wide receiver with our first the year before that? Ozzie literally can't win. Damned if he does and damned if he don't. If we would've taken somebody else and jimmy went down in the thick of the playoff hunt again or Carr didn't pan out everybody would've been calling him a fool for passing on Humphrey too. As I said- ravens fans are NEVER satisfied.
In the first scenario I think we'd go with Davis although Ozzie would be gritting his teeth wanting Howard. Probably reminds him of himself.
2nd scenario simply won't happen- but just for kicks I'd say we'd take Barnett. A year ago I would've said we'd be absolutely nuts to pass up on Fournette but I don't think he's going to transition into the NFL like people think he will and I don't think he's the type of back we're looking for. I feel crazy saying that and maybe I'm dead wrong- I just see him as a big boom or bust guy.
Gonna make this quick and straight to the point. No explanations needed. Most of us know all the prospects and what they will bring to our team.
DRAFT A:
We will trade back from 16 around 6-10 spots acquiring an extra third and fifth.
1) Tak McKinley OLB
2) Tim Williams OLB ( word is Peppers will slip to the 2nd- don't think he'll make it to our pick but I believe we'd definitely take him in round 2 if he did.)
3) Dion Dawkins OL
3) Ahkello Witherspoon CB
3) Malachi Dupre WR
4) Samaje Perine RB
5) Ryan Glasgow DT
5) Rasul Douglas CB ( Kazee as an alternative option)
6) Kenny Golladay WR
DRAFT B
1) Haasan Reddick LB/DE
2) Sidney Jones CB (if he doesn't make it here I have us taking Quincy Wilson)
3) Tarell Basham DE
3) Antonio Garcia OL
4)( tradeback for extra 6th) Josh Reynolds WR
5) Cameron Sutton CB ( Elder as alternative option)
6) Grover Stewart DT
6) Tarik Cohen RB
DRAFT C
1) Corey Davis WR
2) Taco Charlton DE ( might not fall this far- if not Charles Harris or Carl Lawson?)
3) Teez Tabor CB
3) Ethan Pocic OL
4) Carroll Phillips OLB
5) Donnell Pumphrey RB
6) Robert Davis WR

His interview on ESPN the other day did rub me the wrong way. struck me as a guy who is hiding some things and once he gets signed he just won't give a damn anymore. Could be totally off base- he just didn't pass the smell test for me and something was off with the attitude.
Were gonna come away with atleast 3 to 4 BIG TIME players when all is said and done. One day away fellas. Bitter sweet though knowing that it also means the board is about to close for good. Will be a major buzzkill after an awesome draft.
9 hours ago, lgcs27288 said:I think its more of a Ravens are shying away from drafting a wr in the first because of their experience of doing it in the past hasnt been that great.
I think that's what he meant by the statement too- but thats absolute Malarkey. Ozzie and decosta would not and never will be scared or hesitant to pull the trigger on a player simply based on past results. Every situation is circumstantial and a new opportunity. If anything we're due to finally land one that becomes a pro bowl caliber receiver.
2 hours ago, BmoreBird22 said:I think one really tough thing for teams is that a player like Dalvin Cook is the model teammate and a great person on field... he's just dumb off the field. How do you weigh that?
I think if he goes to Tampa, it'll be trouble since he'll be so close to home.
I think Tampa is probably the best bet for him too. That's right around the range he'll go- keep him close to home- and you know Jamies would love it as he is a big fan of him.

I just wish it was bong instead so he could drop into our laps... but sexual assault simply erases him from our board.... even the allegation of it I think given Steve's clear stance on this issue.
My thoughts exactly. If it ends up being Lattimore and was just a silly bong video we could have been in prime position to reap the benefits...sexual assault stuff? Nope.
Back to the topic at hand please..
Very solid and realistic. Would be pretty satisfied. Iffy on the Taywan pick but that's about it.
46 minutes ago, Edgar said:I see it as more likely Barnett is on the board than Corey Davis.
It will surprise me to see Tim Williams available mid two.
Round six I like a lot.
I disagree on both fronts.
Orgasmic. I'm salivating over here.
How much thought do you think we put into taking Davis over Foster if they're both there like you suggested? I imagine that would be a tough call. I'd probably go Davis too in the end but I'd feel uneasy about it.
21 hours ago, JoeyFlex5 said:Would love this draft and it's pretty realistic. Hits all the needs, good value, good players, hopefully something along these lines happens. What do you think of basham over bowser?
Thanks bro. Honestly not too familiar with Basham I'll have to check him out. How bout those names though? Bowser and Basham. Savage as hell lol
21 hours ago, Drew P said:Q in the second doesn't sound plausible. No RT? No ILB? No DE to fill the voids from the departure of Timmy and Guy?
See bottom of my post. Obviously we won't be content with just 7 picks so atleast 1 or 2 will be added which may address a few of those positions. Regardless though like a previous poster stated -I think we are content with a lot of the guys we already have on the roster- esp at ILB. My guess is Patrick Onswaur will surprisingly get the nod when all is said and done. As far as RT- we have a few options there as well - ( albeit unproven) but if Pocic doesn't win the center job he can play anywhere on the line. I realize many don't like him too much but you have to value the versatility. And lastly- we still got a few waves of FA and cuts after the draft. Additions will obviously be made. King Dunlap is still out there along with Some other possibilities. We have a lot of guys that are able to move around and we'll just have to see how things shake out.
18 hours ago, BOLDnPurPnBlacK said:I disagree with those saying its optimistic that Wilson will be there in the 2nd.... id actually be surprised if he goes before that.
Bowser is shooting up boards apparently. im not a huge fan and would prefer to address pass rusher with one of our top 2 picks. And while I think Bowser has more upside as a pure edge rusher than Ryan Anderson, id probably prefer Anderson there if available. I see him as a much safer bet to become a legit 3 down player at OLB for us.... bringing enough pass rush to stay on the field on the money downs.
If it were me, and theres someone like Tim Williams, Charles Harris, Carl Lawson, Jordan Willis or TJ Watt there in the 2nd - i take the pass rusher there and wait til the 3rd for CB when hopefully some combination of Witherspoon, Sidney Jones, Fabian Moreau, Teez Tabor, Chidobe Awuzie, Howard Wilson should still be there.
But thats just personal preference and not really an issue.
My main issue is Pocic. While i think he can be a good player in the NFL, i dont see him doing so for us. Just doesnt fit the profile of what the FO and coaching staff has said they want on the OL. Hes much more Jeremy Zuttah, Rick Wagner, John Urschel than he is Yanda, KO, Jensen. And theyve said they want the latter.
And 4th round and beyond is largely a crap shoot. Your best guess is as good as mine in terms of who will be there, who is value and who will pan out.
Yeah Wilson has been falling as of late- there's just so much cb depth in this draft its hard to say who will go where. A lot of them are pretty even in potential so it will come down to who the individual teams like more from the interviews etc. But yeah I think there's a very good chance he will be there- along with a few other guys that unexpectedly fall which will be nothing new.
Im with you id prefer to draft pass rusher sooner too- I just don't think it will play out that way if we don't take one in the first. My hope is Barnett will fall to us at 16- or Watt will fall to our 2nd.. Unfortunately I don't see it happening. But that first 3rd pick is the absolute latest I see us taking one for sure. Funny you mention Anderson BC I actually debated between those two in my mind for a few minutes. Would definitely be satisfied with either. If any of those guys you mentioned ( Williams ,Harris, Lawson, Willis, Watt) make it to our second pick- absolutely id rather take any of them and wait until the third and take a Witherspoon , Douglas ( my personal fav) or even Kazee. However I just don't see those guys making it to us. I think there will be a strong run on pass rushers in the early 2nd... if one starts to slip the question is do we offer up one of our thirds to jump up and take them? For Watt or Tim Williams I'd absolutely consider it. Willis I'm not so sure about..if he makes it all the way to our 2nd then yeah I'd probably take him- maybe I'm crazy but for some reason I see him as an early third round guy though. But hey if we like him we like him and might as well pull the trigger.
28 minutes ago, rossihunter2 said:I mean even before the other incidents the video one instantly made him undraftable for the Ravens - the others just make him less draftable for other teams
Esp playing the same damn position as RR..That just has media crapstorm written all over it.
1) Corey Davis ( WR)- flacco and Co. Are playing it off like they don't need another receiver. Seems like your classic smokescreen to me. Williams will be gone and Ross won't even be a consideration. The closer the draft approaches the more and more I get the hunch Davis will be our guy. He's just gonna be right in that range where it will only make sense.. And he also just looks like a player Ozzie would covet- physically and personality wise.
2) Quincy Wilson (CB)- this draft has so much depth at corner your guess is as good as mine. However I think this first round talent slips to the 2nd and we take him.
3) Tyrus Bowser (OLB)- his stock has been improving as of late ..and he also just visited with us. We won't wait any longer than this pick to take a pass rusher- and he will be the best available at the time.
3) Ethan Pocic (OL)- Some people think that we have our starting center already on the team. Some have suggested Urschel will get the starting job- others have even speculated that Alex Lewis could move there. Yeah I'm not buying it. We draft our future starting center whether he starts this year or not. He can literally play anywhere on the line- and we love players with the flexibility to move around when others may get injured. If he makes it this far I think its a no brainer.
4) Cameron Sutton ( CB)- double dipping at corner for obvious reasons. Will better the chances of us landing that future shutdown corner. Questionable how he'll transition to the NFL but worth the risk and is pretty good value here in the fourth.
5) Vincent Taylor (NT)- hard to say if he'll make it here but if he does I think we grab him. Interior pass rush is needed for obvious reasons.
6) Samaje Perine (RB)- honestly I don't think he'll make it here. I didnt want to include trades in this mock but I'm sure we'll tradeback at some point to acquire an extra 4th or 5th- which is where we might take him. Big physical bruiser- which is kind of what we're looking for. Had to split carries with Mixon and still put up respectable numbers. Had a huge freshman year. Had one game where he went for over 420 yards and 5 TDs. Doesn't catch many passes- but with Woodhead on the team that's not really what we need him to do. Has gotten somewhat overshadowed by all the Mixon hype- but he could end up being a great back himself. Everybody knows I like Donnell Pumphrey- but once again I just wanted to shake things up. De'veon Smith from Michigan is also a strong option here.
Like I said- didn't wanna include trades in this mock- but no way do I think we'll be content with 7 picks with all the spots we need to fill. A tradeback or maybe even a few is to be expected- in which case we will probably double dip at pass rusher and maybe add another Tackle.
1 hour ago, rmcjacket23 said:Problem is I haven't seen either of those guys really use their size to their advantage. I've seen Steve Smith play bigger and taller than Waller.
I think we as fans get caught up in size too much and think that everybody who is big knows how to use that attribute.
Good point but we haven't really seen them even get that many opportunities to know if they do or not...plus the only way to get better is to get those opportunities ( esp in-game opps). I mean I guess that's done in practice..and maybe they've failed to do so well- hence the lack of opportunities.. But honestly I'm not so sure given the large amount of questionable play calling by the OCs and/or bad throwing decisions by Joe.
Crock is a guy i do think needs to learn to use his size a little better- He has more in-game experience than those other 2. He has the potential to be a beast if so.
If somehow Sidney Jones slid to the third would you take him? I'm sure you would...I only say that BC I'm not sure about the butt pick.I know it shouldn't matter how many tight ends we have if he's the BPA anyway- but I still have faith in atleast 3 of our tight ends who are still on rookie deals- plus I think we could get a better corner with that 2nd pick in the third...or maybe double dip elsewhere...
Anyway everything else I'm ecstatic about and I still like the butt pick..just something to think about.

Not really saying its the same situation- and while it's true they were in a less talented division they still won some tough games outside of the division and put up a decent fight against the pats in the playoffs with a crappy QB. I might be in the minority here but I think Mallet is better than Brock. Not only that but I think our defense will be stronger than the Texans was last year ( and they were great) , so yes , god forbid Joe goes down but I think regardless we'd have a pretty good shot at atleast a wildcard slot.
