  1. There's still several moves we can make to clear much more room if need be . off the top of my head you got Arrington , Zuttah, and Watson. That's quite a bit of room right there. Arrington should be a sure fire cut- not so sure about the other two...it makes perfect sense to get rid of an old Watson coming off of a serious injury who has a pretty big cap hit while we're also stacked at the position- however I haven't heard anything at all about him being a cut candidate. Kinda strange. Zuttah is someone they might hold onto until after the draft and maybe even until preseason just to see how things pan out. If we sign mangold I would expect him to be released- if not I think we draft a center and we go through camp and see how the rookie does and determine whether or not he's ready to take over the reigns- then zuttah will likely be cut when they trim the roster down to 53. I can't see us keeping him for depth although its possible. Maybe if he takes a large paycut. So funny that he made the pro bowl. I can't wait till we find his replacement..in my mind he was the one weak link on our o line last season.
  2. He could by back in purple- but not with us. The vikings are showing interest. I would love to have him back at a discount- he would be great depth..but after already taking paycuts and then getting released would he be willing to take less AGAIN to stay here at home? We know he loves it here- I guess it all depends on what the vikes offer obviously. Can't see him taking less to sit the bench though...I think that goodbye message was a permanent goodbye. We will see. He's def always been a team player.
  3. No thanks. Would much rather select our own corner with how deep this class is and hope to land a stud for the next 4-5 years on a rookie deal. The patriots say they aren't- but I've still got a hunch they will trade garropolo to get that first round pick back. Not only did they land Cooks- they will likely move up to pick 12 or so in the first. That will be too much for them to refuse for a backup qb who might leave anyway before Brady's done. Makes too much sense.
  4. We will still address corner early. We'll just be stacked at the position incase we get plagued with injury at the position like 2014. That is one reunion I could get behind. Nobody would expect him to be the #1 or put up huge numbers- just a reliable chain mover. He's still got juice left- caught more TDs last year than Wallace and Smith combined. King Dunlap would also be a great pickup. If we end up with any 2 out of him, mangold, Claiborne and Boldin I'll be very excited. Hell we'll take all the old chargers castoffs lol
  5. Just curious how tall is Chidobe and Ford?
  6. Yeah I could definitely get down with this. Very solid.
  7. Mangold and Ryan Clady that's about it. Mangold would be a definite upgrade over Zuttah but has injury concerns. Good thing about him though is he wouldn't cost us a compensatory pick. Ryan Clady is traditionally an LT but I'm sure he could switch over to replace the void left by Wagner. I'm hoping we come away with atleast one of the two and then draft another O lineman on top of that- maybe even double dip. Then we'll be in good shape. The first 4 picks we have in the top 3 rounds really need to be : Pass rusher; Corner ; O-line; WR And not necessarily in that order.
  8. I'm salivating over this possibility.
  9. Agreed for sure.
  10. Mangold or flowers wouldn't cost us a compensatory pick. I think they are our best bet and would be great additions. I just can't wait to get the notification asayin zuttah has been released lol
  11. Too bad the forum won't be here after the draft..so you'll have to arrange another meeting site. Not that it matters BC Kelly would never be linked to us- ESP now that we resigned mallet.
  12. Figures... We had a real shot at him at 16 too.. He probably had one of the best shots at bein a raven. Feel bad for the kid, don't get much more unlucky than that. He could probably be put on the pup list and make it back by seasons end for whatever team takes a shot on him- but it won't be us. Not at 16 anyway. Maybe if he falls significantly into the 2nd but I still doubt it. Pass rusher is lookin like a sure bet for our first pick- either that or Quincy Wilson or Dan Feeney.
  13. If we pick up nick mangold Id say Id be very satisfied with this years FA..a receiver would be nice but its slim pickings now...
  14. Or maybe we already knew about the situation before it hit the media and that's why we made the move in the first place.. Remember when everybody was wondering why we released Will Hill?
  15. I think our only chance of taking a safety now is Desmond king if he makes it to the third round. Peppers is now out of the equation. We won't be wasting a high pick on a S with the signing of Jefferson ...but with king he will not only be good depth but he can line up and play other positions in the secondary.
  16. We've heard that one before.
  17. Exactly. Torreys younger and will cost about half. Wallace tapered off in the second half of last year and Torrey obviously only struggled BC of piss poor qb play. Why not save 4 mill in cap space, get basically the same player who also happens to have a rapport with joe- and use those savings to make another signing.
  18. Im hoping for mangold now.
  19. Agreed. And I'm sure we all would rather have juice- but not for that money. Nobody has even seen the details of the deal. Say we got him near the vet minimum? Is it still a bad signing? Everybody keeps bringing up Dixon like we only need 1 back. Its clear we plan on Dixon being the workhorse- but we need a contingency plan incase of injury, etc. As of now looks like were Rollin with Dixon, west and woodhead but we'll see. Buck might be on the way out.
  20. Similar skill set to Joe's. Underrated move. We could've ended up with somebody from the bottom of the barrel.
  21. Not at 16 but trading back into the mid 20's I say heck yes.
  22. This will be my last mock until right before the draft. Can't get here soon enough. In the first I think Cook will make it to us at 16 - putting us in perfect position to trade back with another team targeting him. If two teams get into a bidding war for him I think best case scenario we come away with a haul of an extra 2nd and 4th by jumping back 5 or 6 spots. My guess is those 2 teams will be the lions and giants - who are both RB needy teams & we either move to 21 or 23 depending on who coughs up the most. 1) JABRILL PEPPERS- I soured on him big time for a while..but he has been growing on me once again and I'm coming back around to the idea of pairing him with weddle. The 3 major reasons I see us going this route are : A. The harbaugh connection- we will have the best in depth knowledge on not only his play but his attitude and character. If Jim signs off on him and thinks he can become something special- you have to imagine john will take his advice. obviously it could go the other way too and jim could say he doesn't have it- in which case we will either take Dan Feeney or John Ross. B. He can also play LB and multiple other positions. Always good to have a versatile player who can move around in a pinch. C. He will solidify our KR/PR position that has been hampering us for years since the decline and departure of JJ. He will provide that playmaking potential that will give our offense a spark by getting us good feild position and also taking a few to the house. Feild position is key- and with a great returner and the best kicker in the league we could come away with atleast 3 points on several drives that would've resulted in punts. 2) TJ WATT - this guy is severely under-rated and I'm not sure why he's not talked about more. Getting some younger pass rushers to backup Suggs is essential. In the future him and Judon will become our new Doom and Suggs. We may have to move up a few spots to get him - in which case I don't think we would hesitate to part ways with our now trade-able 3rd round comp pick. 2) COOPER KUPP - no explanation needed. If he's there we rush to the podium. We need to get younger at WR and find that shifty slot/possesion receiver to move the chains in the absence of SSS. this guy will do that and then some. 3) RASUL DOUGLAS - thought about going Kazee here who's ball skills are top notch but I think we need to get taller on defense..Douglas is 6'2 and he also is no slouch when it comes to ball skills in which he led the nation with 8 interceptions. Pair him with Jimmy and you got 2 towers on the outside with the rookie sensation Tavon young in the slot. Sidney Jones is intriguing in the first- but he may be gone by 16 and getting an extra 2nd round pick is too hard to pass up. We will get much better value by taking Douglas or Kazee here. 3) (comp) ISAAC ASIATA- this guy is strong as hell and he proved at the combine by leading all lineman with 35 bench press reps. He played some tackle in college - but he's best suited at guard. Wagner looks to be on the way out- and I think we may attempt to move Alex Lewis around a bit and potentially fulfilling that void- so Asiata could be our LG. either way he will be great depth. I wanted to take a center early - but I've got a little hunch we go after the former jet and pro bowl center Nick Mangold. *Note- if another one of the top corners is still there at this point such as Kazee or King don't think we won't hesitate to double dip at CB back to back. 4) TAYLOR MOTON - at RT he does everything well - pass blocking and run blocking. Would be a steal in the 5th round. Hopefully he could be a late round gem that becomes a starter- and could be a potential replacement for Wagner- but once again either way he provides great depth as bolstering our o- line this season is essential. Double dipping at OL is very probable. Thought about Damien Mama here but we don't need another guard after Asiata and there are many concerns about his play. 5) CARROLL PHILLIPS- he falls due to character concerns and we take a chance snatching him up and double dipping at pass rusher. 6) DONNEL PUMPHREY - if he falls this far you can bet we won't hesitate to grab him. He's that potential playmaking RB Harbs is looking for and also gives another option for KR. Word is we spent alot of time with him- so don't be surprised if he ends up in purple & black. Tyreek Cohen and Kareem Hunt are 2 other options to keep an eye on. 7) JEROD EVANS - the whole mock process is a real crap shoot but at this point its even more of a guessing game. However if we don't get a deal done with Mallet- a backup QB will be a very under rated need. I like Mallet BC his skillset is similar to Joes- however I think he leaves to search for a starting gig or for more $$$$. We haven't had much luck with veteran backups- and wasting cap space on someone who may not see the feild anyway is not the route I'd like to see us go unless its definitely worth it. Evans is a solid qb who put up good numbers and flashed potential. We had luck with Tyrod from VT ..and I'm also a Virginia kid so I'm biased a bit. I think he'd be a good fit here. Review- JABRILL PEPPERS - S/LB/PR TJ WATT - OLB COOPER KUPP -WR RASUL DOUGLAS - CB ISAAC ASIATA - G TAYLOR MOTON - RT CARROLL PHILLIPS - OLB DONNEL PUMPHREY - RB JEROD EVANS - QB
  23. I agree that peppers is very boom or bust. We may very well go a safer route if the right guy is there... But if the options are thin I think we roll the dice and hope he goes boom. Also forgot we didn't have a 7th round pick. Brain fart. At some point we probably trade back and add one.
