  1. FORMER pro bowler that was beat out by a rookie last year that also had never taken an nfl snap. Look how that turned out. Once a qbs confidence is shot that bad it's hard to get it back. It seems that Schaub could throw a pick 6 with 6 defenders on the feild. I was actually happy we signed him as a backup- but to hear about the poor performances and interceptions in OTA's is a little concerning.
  2. funny bc what could be our biggest weakness could potentially be our biggest strength.
  3. true but say flacco just goes down for a game or two and we need somebody to step in just to get us over the hump? I don't like hearin about Schaub throwing all these picks in practice. Seems to me his confidence is still shot. Crazy to say but We may be better off with lovelocke or rynner at the healm. I know we still have a long way to go and guys aren't even wearing pads yet but it's not a good sign.
  4. I actually meant to say inside linebacker. But even still- one injury to any of those guys and we may have a little trouble. Suggs and doom are definitely not over the hill but they aren't getting any younger either. However like I said also- that is if I HAD to pick one- our entire linebacker group is definitely nothing to sneeze at regardless. If cj mosely can continue to improve and upshaw can take that next step and put up some sacks we will be in good shape. Hears to hoping that zadarius turns out to be a hit as well.
  5. not worthy or just not affordable ? I'm sure he was worthy enough to be a raven if he would have excepted a lower offer. Some players are released for a variety of reasons- they might not fit a new scheme the team is implementing, the team may want to get younger etc. doesn't mean they are deemed unworthy. I don't need to hear your definitions. Who knows? Maybe trestman just wanted a fresh start with a young guy that he could mold to his liking. I think it was time for Torrey to move on- however saying he was unworthy is just a bit of a stretch. And yes I know- Nothing is ever up for debate with you because you are "all knowing". Not a good look. "Unworthy of being retained at the value the player determined" is a lot different than just "unworthy ". Dez Bryant is threatening to sit out if he isn't given a new contract... If they decide not to give him 1 , is he unworthy of being a Dallas cowboy? Just bc a player has unreasonable expectations of money doesn't mean the organization thinks they are unworthy of being on the team, or else he would have been cut. Being cut and disagreeing over a contract is 2 different things in my book.
  6. they play well over 100 in baseball and one of the main reasons for a series is bc they have a rotation of pitchers.
  7. I agree with almost everything you said other than safety being our weakest position. I actually think kendrick and willl hill will be huge for us this year. Id also probably say linebacker is more of an unknown. But to be honest that position doesn't look bad either. Barring injury if say this is the most all around roster Atleast at this point in a long time. If we lock down the returner position with somebody reliable we will be set and good to go.
  8. I don't think I've ever heard harbaugh say straight up that he didn't want a player back. ESP not a guy like Torrey who was so involved in the community. Would have been stupid for him to do so. However I also don't think he was deemed unworthy. Both sides couldn't reach an agreement. Simple as that. It's not that deep.
  9. yessir !! I also think that trestman is exactly the type of o.c that joe needs. Kubiak planted to seed but trest is going to make that thing sprout! I couldn't stand it when we would get in the redzone and drives would stall. I just wanted to see joe sling the ball into the endzone. But part of the problem like you said was receivers not being aggressive enough as well. Well what did we do? We went out and got joe some of his favorite big bodies that are going to snatch the ball out the air and pummel defenders. If we stay healthy and everybody starts clicking early and getting on the same page, watch out. This year we might see things we have never seen. That's all I'ma say.
  10. I'm gonna go against the grain and say I think Darren Waller will turn out to have the best career. He was definitely a sleeper pick and will turn out to be the biggest surprise. I think him and perriman wil be our WR duo of the future. I also think nick Boyle is going to surprise. It's funny though bc going down the list of our picks I literally would not be surprised if any of them turn out to be big time players.
  11. When you are running a franchise you have to do what you have to do. Unfortunately sometimes being "classy" gets in the way of being successful. Fortunately the ravens are an organization that atleast attempt to balance the two.
  12. this can't be said enough. When athletes get comfortable with one position their entire lives perfecting their craft and techniques and then you ask them to switch it's an extremely awkward feeling. Some people think a lineman is a lineman but it's not that simple. I played short stop my entire life and got a scholarship to JMU. When we began practicing the coach moved me to 2nd base. It took me almost the entire season to adjust and even then it just wasn't the same. Different sport I know- but same principle. People like sticking with what they know bc it becomes second nature, and any little change can throw you off of your game.
  13. is that including the times he fumbled out of bounds or just the fumbles that were turnovers?
  14. Would be nice to have him to rotate with k.o or yanda to keep them fresh down the stretch. Or incase one of them goes down with an injury. That would be in a perfect world- reality is it's extremely unlikely he will become a raven. If this was 2016- maybe. But like jacket said- even then he will be 33-34 years old.
  15. Didn't see this thread until now. Kind of funny to see people walking their statements back when they realize Ryan actually reads what they're saying. Don't understand how people can be so rude to such a stand up guy. I'm all for constructive criticism but some people take it too far. Don't sweat the small stuff, were all on the same team.
  16. I'm no expert here.. But I would think a tenth of a second could be a difference of simply which runner comes out of his stance better. Plus you have to consider how they run with pads on. Some players are good at running track- and others are fast on the football feild.
  17. once again- I just think your looking too deep into things. We don't need to hear the definition of a sacrifice. All teams make sacrifices every year. And I don't think we thought we were sacrificing a reasonable chance at a Super Bowl, esp with the return of flacco who just came off of an immaculate postseason performance. I don't think the injuries are relevant either- but I do think it matters how close we came that year. You think we went into that game against Cinci thinkin we were going to lose? You might not believe in the "once your in anything can happen" mantra - but I can guarentee you all 32 nfl teams do. Esp when you have a qb who performs in the postseason as well as flacco does. A lot of fans DO understand this because it's a fact. Doesn't matter how often it happens or if it's happened recently- the fact is, if you get in the postseason you have a shot. Therefore- if you think you have a playoff caliber team- you can potentially have a Super Bowl team. Like it was stated previously- sometimes the F.O may not be as confident with the roster as they were in other years or with other teams- but unless things drastically change in the near future , if you are part of the ravens organization you always are going to have the win now attitude.
  18. I completely understand what your sayin however I completely disagree. It's easy to look back on the 2013 season now and say we didn't expect to make it to the Super Bowl just bc we happened to miss the playoffs. (By one game mind you) I guarentee you if you were to ask harbaugh or flacco or anybody in the organization at the beginning of that year if they believed they could make it to the Super Bowl that they would say yes. And I wholeheartedly believe that would be their honest opinion. They might realize that it was a bit less likely to happen, but ofcourse they believed they could make it to the playoffs... And once your in anything can happen. Yes some teams aren't as fortunate as ours and realize they have to rebuild for years before they can contend - but The ravens are one of the few teams that can go through a rebuilding year and still have that win now mentality regardless due to excellent scouting, coaching, and then there's this guy named Ozzie in the front office. Yes we are that good.
  19. JB at the number 1 or number 2 spot? You must be trippin bro- he would have to come a lonnnng way to even get to the #4 spot on this depth chart with some of the guys we have in the mix this year.
  20. He may end up like a kid that got his candy stolen if he doesn't make the final cut. That being said he has a legitimate shot.
  21. . Yes ma'am!! Straight and to the point.
  22. yes we have chosen to get younger as of late, but that doesn't mean that we don't have a win now mentality regardless. Yes even in 2013. The ravens are a team thats organization is so strong all around that even in a so called "down year" the mantra is still superbowl or bust. Not everything needs to be dissected- Sometimes it's just not that deep.
  23. As durable as he has been I wouldn't doubt it. But we"ll see how he holds up when he gets up there to 35+ Keeping a strong offensive line will go a long way to help. Will be interesting to see how long Big Ben lasts. He has taken a lot of nasty hits over the years. From us in particular.
  24. yeah I got you. Things often get misinterpreted through text. You really said all there is to say. Not gonna act like I've always known all the ins and outs of the franchise tag so your post was pretty informative.
  25. my opinion has also changed a bit- liking him more and more as OTAs go on.
