  1. If cutting ties with Webb is considered as an option then Jefferson should be high consideration.
  2. the dollar comparison is not quite accurate, because Pitta carries dead money the actual difference for the Ravens is less than 1 million, unless there is something I don't know about Watsons deal. Pitta has had successful tears for the Ravens, he seemed a bit slower this past year however the injury and recovery may have been a factor. If he proves that his speed has recovered a bit, I don't see the Ravens letting Pitta go to keep Watson. They might as well release both.
  3. Deep class, 4 picks in the top 100, I just don't see a trade except giving up the 2- 3's or 3 and 4 but the best you are going to do is move up in the 3rd. No way the Ravens have enough trade power to make an impact in Round 1 or 2 Unless they want to give up the caliber of a Perriman, Young or Dixon.
  4. This pick is pretty huge, it allows the Ravens much more flexibility in the 2 and 3rd picks, then get this extra 3rd. 4 picks in the top 100 match last year and in this years draft could prove to be even more valuable. So many possibilities, Its still possible the Ravens look to add another pick by trade, however I doubt they try to move position on any of the top 4 picks. Now i really see the possibilities of a top Center picked at #2. Round 3 is going to have plenty of players that the Ravens can utilize pretty much any position can be helped. DE, LB, O line + WR, RB or S are all in play.
  5. Ah ok, i get what your saying Fran, i thought that sounded a little off. I definitely dont like the idea for drafting by position only, of course some of the BPA available has to do with position, but lets say we retained Torrey Smith, I highly doubt we go with BP because imo our need at the position forced us to take someone to replace Torrey. Now obviously i dont know the FO's big board, nor do any of us, i just find it hard to believe that he was the BPA when a guy like Byron Jones or Malcom Brown is on the board, but to be honest i havent followed Jones career to see how he has done. Maybe im in the minority with those opinions, wouldnt be the first time. lets look at it adding another way, including , Draft player ranking. At #16 The Ravens will be looking at a 5.9 to a 6.5 player rank. There will be multiple players at multiple positions available very closely ranked. So the idea of the Ravens taking a 1st round LT is nil because they have Stanley, yet there may be a LT at a 6.2 ranking. The Ravens may opt to take a CB with a 6.1 ranking, or even a Pass rusher at 6.0 ranking. The Ravens just like all NFL teams put position need almost at the highest priority when competitive ranking is close. Now drop to the 48th pick (#2) the Ravens will have more choices with competitive ranking, If there is a Center who is ranked 5.8 and is the #1 or #2 Center in the draft he is normally a better choice than a 5.9 or even a 6.0 Ranked RB or WR that is #4 or #5 for their position in the draft. It can be about scouting and playmaking position being ranked vs Team chart and the need for non-ball handling positions. So with that said, if there were 3 Safeties with 6.8, 6.6, and 6.2 rankings yet the next player is a LT with a 6.0 ranking. you tell me what player would you take being the Ravens selection.
  6. Agree, Going in with set position(s) for each round is asking for a bad draft. You have to look at the value on the board. I would love to see a CB early, but if there is great value for another position (WR, Oline, S, Pass rusher, etc), you have to trust the Ravens brass to get the best playmaker on the board that can help the team. Maybe all our top guys at CB come off the board before us and another position high on our board is surprisingly available.. You can't be pigeon-holed into taking a certain position in a certain round. Granted, position and need obviously come into play with how your board is stacked up...but you can't pass on a player that is way higher on your board to "fill" a specific position. happens all the time
  7. Aiken had his best year when the Ravens did not have Wallace, Smith Sr. and Perriman were hurt and not playing. All 3 of them are better receivers, its just the facts.
  8. well you managed to change the subject because there just isnt enough to write about Aiken. Except you missed the 12 dropped passes. I think Joe should give back his money when the Receivers give back their money for missing passes, RB give back their money for zero yards and failed first downs, and o-line men give back money for missed blocks. Lets start looking at the team instead of your fall back position. Aiken isnt going to help this team, he competes with Perriman and Wallace. His slot play was below average, that is why the Ravens will not renew his contract.
  9. Romo had the biggest failure. Matt Ryan had the second biggest failure, and what happened to Aaron Rodgers and Alex Smith wow they really blew it. So Joe had little available to throw to, this stat does not take out the "dropped passes" which if were added up I would not be surprised if the Ravens receivers didn't lead the NFL in that stat. Stats mean nothing of your team doesn't win football games. The Ravens blew 4 games last year by penalties, poor running and poor defense. If you didn't see that you are turning a blind eye to the real problems. Joe Flacco has had 2 bad years, we all know it. Its 2017 and he needs to come back strong. However someone better catch the ball!
  10. 3 safeties in a row? No thanks. Besides, going in drafting for position is how you end up reaching and making a bad cut. no charlie, it says #3 , #4 and #5 take the best Safety, CB or pass rusher available. So if the best player on the board at the #3 pick is a Pass Rush DB or LB the Ravens should take them, If it is a Safety or even another CB then the Ravens should consider. . However not take the same three times in a row. That would be kind of ridiculous for you to think. As far as drafting for position as part of the equation, its what most NFL teams do. With the exception of the top 5 picks. However some teams have traded out of the top 5 because they did NOT have the need for the top players in the position. Some agree with them some don't.
  11. No chance we would give Williams $11 million a year. I also wouldn't advice letting go of Wagner then cutting Zuttah too. His cap savings isn't enough for his experience. Last thing we need is a rookie at center and RT. who is you Rookie RT? Its not about Zuttah and Wagner, each position is separate. This is why you cannot compare DT to NT, your analogy would have the Ravens do nothing, which isnt possible. its keep Wagner or Williams. you choose Wagner I choose Williams. The Ravens have RT and RG that can play that are not rookies. Just like we can say they have NT and DT that can play that are not rookies. As far as Zuttah, get a top Center in the draft. He is not as good as a top College Center.
  12. If the Ravens could manage to pick twice in the 3rd round, that would be a great opportunity to add one even two of these guys. Maybe a comp pick that might be utilized in some fashion. I think the Ravens need a Center and to get the best one I feel the Ravens will need to use the #2 pick. Looks to me that the #3 will be the real tough pick for the Ravens this year. So many important areas may be left to fill after the first 2 are drawn. I would try to trade Dumervil for a draft pick and his salary.
  13. #1- take the best available CB, #2- take the top Center, #3, #4 and #5 Take the best Safety, CB or Pass Rush available, #6 WR or O-Line.
  14. no way the Ravens use 9 mil on Barwin and NOT pay Williams 11 mil. Crazy!
  15. Take the best CB available at 16. Certainly expect that one or more of these guys will be available. They have got to be better than Sharice Wright or Powers played last year. Take the top Center at #2, take a Safety or Pass Rusher at 3/4 and then a WR, Guard and DL to finish out.
  16. Garcon would be a good addition, the question is will he take less than 8 mil and be satisfied with less than 60 passes? Most would say the Ravens passed the ball too much last year. The Running game needs to improve and take on a balanced show. I dont think that plays well into Garcon's thinking, especially with Wallace and Perriman. Now if Wallace is let loose, then Garcon makes better sense, the problem is it costs the Ravens more money for almost the same result. Cruz is actually more attractive because he poses no threat to Wallace or Perriman. He is strictly a slot receiver and could be paid to do so. lol, isnt it ridiculous that the highest cap QB in the league didnt even play last year. Yet there are complaints about Joe who played all season recovering from injury, passed for more yards in his career, had his #1 receiver hurt, had 3 of his offensive linemen hurt, used a Rookie RB and a comeback RB after the team fired the #1 Running back and Led his team back to an 8-8 season. (which should have easily been 10-6 no fault to Flacco) I find it laughable that anyone can use the name Romo in the same league, let alone to earn cap at the same amount of money. however, as I always say- The high paid players must play to high level. I would point out quite a few more Ravens than Joe, but Joe is included in the category. i expect to see a better year from Joe in 2017, admittedly there is room for improvement. PS, wait until Matt Ryan and Andrew Luck contracts get negotiated.
  17. Its interesting, most would not approve of going into a season with so much inexperience yet many on this site seem to think it would be ok. I would rather see the Ravens make Williams a decent offer at 4yrs /44mil. Keep Guy for a reasonable 3yrs 10- 12 and Juice for a renewable 3 yr 8-10 mil. I think they would all stay. Wagner is the one I would take the chance on and go with the Rookies. Knowing that Yanda/Stanley/Lewis all are in shape to come in without injury to start camp. I would also let Zuttah go and pick up a top center in the 2nd round. but its not my decision, maybe thats a good thing.
  18. Zuttah is the week link I disagree 100% that Zuttah is the weak link. He may have been a late addition to the Pro Bowl roster, but even that is pretty clear evidence that the guy is above average. We're in a much better position at Center than most NFL teams. Unfortunately, the guy we have taking snaps is worse than most other NFL teams. I would give up Zuttah before Webb. Zuttah is just as replaceable with a top Center draft. I wouldn't be so sure about Webb being replaced but hey go for it, get the Safety, Center and CB 1, 2, and 3. Your QB opinion has little factual basis, unless Flacco has 3 more bad years. I don't see that coming, but hey he wouldn't be the first NFL QB to fall flat.
  19. Brandon La Fell worth a second glance
  20. only if the price is right I mean what games did some of you guys watch for Christ sake this guy is good But NOT Great and should make nowhere close to 10 mill a year and with we overpay him we will be set back again I would rather have a top CB or Receiver I watched every game, no one played as well as Willams. Sure The Ravens young guys did a good job, however big guys cannot play all the downs no matter who they are. So your point is you would rather give up first downs, control of the ball and possibly multiple scores. No one is arguing getting a CB, It can be done but lets stay in contention. Williams shut down run games, he has the capability of playing some pass however its not his best suit. The Ravens have no veteran DL if Williams goes. I believe he is an anchor of the team. He is a leader on and off the field. I would give up Zuttah and Dumervil for Williams any day of the week. I would risk a Rookie Center or developing a replacement, than a weakened DL. The LB crew will be fine without Doom. As far as a WR, the Ravens can afford one with the loss of SSr. I argue that the Ravens have the space to keep Williams. If you are saying you don't want him, that is just something that we disagree on. I agree 100%. And getting a "top CB or WR" means $12 million+. Garcon wants $9 million & Brandon Marshall (if cut) wants $12 million. That's a lot of cash to pay for an old WR. CB Stephon Gilmore wants $14 million. Cutting Dumervil, Shareece Wright & Kyle Arrington gets you the money to sign Williams ($10 million+). You're going to replace Wright with a CB in the draft anyway. Same with Arrington. Cutting Watson & Kendrick Lewis gets you most of the money to resign Wagner. All 5 of those guys have in house replacements. And more importantly, your entire O-line stays intact (Ravens were 4-0 last year when they all started together). If you didn't cut anyone else, you'd still have about $9 million to go out and get a veteran WR/CB/ILB. Add in at least 1 maybe 2 top CB in the draft and this defense looks infinitely better - BWill, Pierce, Suggs, Judon, Mosley, Peanut, Weddle, Webb, Jimmy, Tavon, Draft CB, Draft CB, Draft S. Still have Kaufusi, KC, Davis, Henry, ZaDarius, Canady waiting in the wings.....That's a Top 5 defense. I think your cuts are reasonable, I would not pay Garcon or Marshal the big money. I would only pick them up for low cash deals with maybe a trade. Otherwise I would put the 9 mil out for L Murray or Lacy boost our Running Backs to the Super Bowl level and take a vet WR for a lower price like Cruz or B LaFell. That would be the only difference considering that I just don't think the Ravens will retain Wagner. Keep Williams (up to 11 mil., 4/$44 should do it ) I agree with the LB corp, adding a 4/5 draft pick will be fine. CB #1 Ravens will need to pick up a Center at #2. WR/S #3 or #4 LB- Pass Rush #5 O-line Guard #6 Neither of those running backs would be a huge upgrade from what we have. Eddie Lacey cant keep his hands out of the cookie jar. He has not played well for the last two years. And someone is going to overpay Murray Im missing your points, both backs have eclipsed 1000 yd seasons and are proven playmakers. I think you are rendering your opinion without factual statistics. The Ravens must improve in the running game. Pro Bowl playmakers, competition and veteran players are proven ways to achieve that in the NFL. If you don't think the Ravens can utilize a veteran 1000 yd RB that is your opinion however West could have played his best year of his career this past year, we don't know, he certainly did not have 1000 yds in the past 5 seasons and Cleveland seemed to notice a similar pattern. A sophomore RB who struggled his first year to take on the starter role is not a guaranteed situation either. I see more promise in Dixon than that of West or Allen, both of whom have had multiple years to show what they have, or don't have. I just don't see taking a chance on the same three running backs again while knowing that the Ravens rely on an above average running game to put them in playoff contention.
  21. i would have to agree, not that Im not concerned but we cant have pro bowlers at every position, the big guys are just going to have to step up and fill the space with good talent and effort. Its time they play to NFL level. Fill the Center spot with a "top" 2nd rounder, high percentage pick and go for it. Stanley, Yanda, Lewis, 2nd round #1 Center and one of our top Staff linemen should be a very good, if not great O line. Ravens must concentrate on Williams, a CB and work on offensive playmakers,
  22. only if the price is right I mean what games did some of you guys watch for Christ sake this guy is good But NOT Great and should make nowhere close to 10 mill a year and with we overpay him we will be set back again I would rather have a top CB or Receiver I watched every game, no one played as well as Willams. 23. Keep Williams, Juice, Levine and Guy The Rest will have to be replaced. Wagner will price himself right off the team. Aiken possesses the skills that are better served by Perriman or Wallace. I just don't see the Ravens keeping Aiken and letting Wallace go. I'd rather have Cruz as the #3 in the slot alternating with Waller and a 2 TE set. Elam may have to walk-on in camp RFA- Keep West and Jensen- take a compensatory deal on any of the others if its there, otherwise sign them for a team average price. ERFA- keep Beyer, Onwausor, Wesley and Renolds.
  24. totally overlooking a top Center. The Ravens need to fill this position and I expect they will use a #2 or #3 on it. I would be surprised to see them pass on a #1 Center to get a #3 or #4 CB, S or Pass Rusher.
