  1. I think Woodhead will be a great addition, IF, the Ravens dont put the entire weight of the running game on him. Injuries and performance level are always the risk with signing over 30 players. He is a great playmaker, however the Ravens need a "multi down running back" A threat to bang out 6 consecutive running plays, this is what will open up Woodhead, Wallace, TE and WR's. Get Latavius Murray and put him with Woodhead and West. This is really what they need!! Dixon is young he can be the back of the future, he is more like Woodhead than Murray, however the suspension is not promising. West can stay and be a great second back. Once Dixon comes back, see where we are, It will only be a good thing to have all 4 of them. Woodhead is like having a Fullback.
  2. Here are my 2 choices at FA and I'm sticking to them; WR- Corrdelle Patterson- (2.5 mil) could be a good pick up, return game, receiver depth and he also would like to play Running back.(hmmm). Campinaro may be better suited to strictly WR and an occasional return. RB- Latavius Murry- (4-6 mil) Ravens need a downhill runner, now especially more than ever with losing DIxon for 4 weeks. Dixon may become the starter, however West was the yard leader last year. Murray brings the BIG back to the scene, strong, single set ability and to find holes out of it. He would be a great 3 yr signing. Young enough and affordable. Dixon may learn from him as well. West will need to show me a lot more, I just don't see a solid first down back in him ( just the truth). let Zuttah go saving 6 mil paying for Murray. get a CB and Center #1 and #2, (both will be there with confidence however if a #1 Edge, Pass Rush OLB , RB is there At #1 then option them and move the position down the list) that leaves 3-7 for Pass rush, OL/RT, LB and a couple of added deeper S and WR. Get a decent affordable RT/OL in FA for depth and strength.(2 mil) Add that to what the Ravens have done so far and I see huge possibilities.
  3. I agree, with everything except I think the Ravens should get a top Center, probably at #2 if they wait they may miss out and there are 2 great Centers in Potic and Elflein that would soilidify the Ravens strength. 2 big reasons why, first I just dont see Zuttah as the future and 6 MIllion is alot o f money to commit to a player that cant provide absolute satisfaction. Second, having Yanda as a teacher and leader on the line is invaluable in my opinion, He could be the difference in a young player becoming the best in the NFL. Add that to Stanley and Lewis raw abilities, it is a recipe for greatness. Zuttah, in my opinion, is not going to change. A RT is still going to be an issue no matter what
  4. Good points- lets figure the Ravens listen about picking a #1 CB draft and a Center at #2. for discussion sake. I particularly like the Patterson and Latavius Murray choices. Both very affordable and both could contribute quite a lot for the value. If they were to pick up these 4 guys then they can really look at affordable Pass Rush- LB- and LT guys in Free Agency with what ever money they can manage and the remaining 5 Draft choices Hightower is worth his weight in gold but can the Ravens cut enough to afford him. Brown and Minter both could help, just need to be at the right money. OLB - expensive lot, not sure any of these guys are great moves. I think another draft pick for a LB is the more affordable reasonable choice considering the depth on the team. would that satisfy most needs, I think it would be a great way to begin camp.
  5. CB yes, probably 1st round pick C - I think they should go young and pick the top C in the draft at #2. This will allow the Front line to start fresh and get the reps needed in camp. Elflein or Potic Having Yanda teamed up with a rookie Center, asap, is probably the biggest asset, waiting only cuts that time down. It is also cost effective. Edge- absolutely as best player presents himself, however WR,S, OL, LB all need to be looked at for each draft position. OL or WR- probably gonna find a decent player at #99. As far as free agency, Get a #1 Running Back rather than a high paid receiver. The Ravens have receiving weapons with Wallace, Perriman, Moore, Woodhead, Waller, (Pitta if he takes the cut) Boyle, Gilmore, Dixon and West. Mangold only if he makes himself affordable. Prior is un-affordable go with a #2/3 receiver if at all Signings- Williams, Wallace, Mallet, Jefferson and Woodhead are good moves! So far I like what I see. Cutting -Doom, Webb, Wright and Lewis all good Not re-signing- Wagner and Juice best move for the money. Dixon is a Dufus
  6. Crazy, but maybe like a fox. Hurst is a solid LT and OL back-up and 2nd line player. He is not the starting RT that the Ravens will need, however Nembot could be. With Wagner on the move, I still think the Ravens should cut ties with Zuttah. A stronger Center will help this team tremendously. Get the best Rookie Center available in the draft, ( Elflien) sandwich him between Yanda and Lewis with the 2 big guys Stanley and Nembot on the outside I think the Ravens have a great O-line. If the Rookie has trouble you have Jensen and Urschel who need to be ready to step in and take the job. This is a very affordable and reasonable way to make this Offense young and competent. Spend the money on a solid running back to take the pressure off of the passing game. 1. Hurst is definitely not a solid LT. He's one of the worst backup LTs in the league, and frankly, I'm not even sure if he's on the roster as a LT anymore, given that last year the Ravens chose to play Lewis (a rookie) at LT when Stanley was hurt, instead of Hurst. I think he's competing as a backup RT at this point, and its a complete coin flip as to whether or not he makes the roster at all. I suppose if we bring in literally nobody, he could compete for the starting RT gig, but I think he gets beat out by just about any mid-round draft pick at this point, which I suspect is the route we are going to go. 2. We're not signing a veteran RB. We have youth and depth at RB, and we like the guys we have. Most expect Dixon to take over the feature back role this season, with West as the complement. We MIGHT consider drafting somebody, depending on how the board shakes out, but I see no reason on Earth to sign a veteran RB in FA. I don't see what value they'd bring to the team. Hurst is a solid Tackle back up, I didn't say great. Yes he struggled 2 years ago trying to fill LT however he improved in play last year on the right side and has a year under his belt. Like I said he is not a starter. Guess you were wrong about the RB, Now with Dixon's bone head move its that more important but you will disagree with me even more now when I say go get Latavius Murray. The Ravens need a downhill RB, not 2 projects. West is not a #1. Draft may be a wise decision however, only as PS reserve and to learn the system.
  7. I would rather have a big downhill running back than another WR.
  8. If Wallace, Perriman and Moore can all achieve to their potential then the Ravens dont really need another WR. Using Waller as a Slot TE/gunner similar to the way the Patriots used Gronk could prove to be very productive. Waller is big and talented, he needs to be put into the play book more to see what he can do from the TE position, that or just list him as a WR and use him in the slot.
  9. What a Dufus, this was just stupid.
  10. Definitely a great signing in Jefferson. Webby may be all but gone, we really could use the cap space. He is very expensive to sit on the bench.
  11. not sure about the Woodhead deal being enough to improve the running game. The Ravens need a downhill running back, it just didn't look like Dixon or West were that 3 down back that will get the team a first down. My feelings are, let Tallifero and Allen go, go pick up Latavius Murray for 6 mil. He is a downhill runner who has proven skills. Once Dixon is back then the Ravens can decide what to do with 4 backs just like last year.
  13. I figured Garcon would be too expensive for the Ravens, no way he is worth more than 8 mil a year. I expect Wallace to get as many yards as Garcon this year. If the Giants pay Marshal 6 mil a year that is a reasonable price, His past may be just too much for the Ravens. There are still good receivers available to fill the #2-3 veteran spot for the Ravens, B. LaFell, K. Stills, T. Ginn, Kendall Wright to name several reasonable look see. I like all of them as much as Torrey, I just don't know about bringing back the past. We need a position receiver not competition for Perriman and Wallace.
  14. Expected, so that's Elam- Lewis and Wright so far. I would say Powers and Arrington are gone as well. The Ravens have the 4 they want in Weddle, Webb, Smith and Young. They need to put a support group in place.
  15. williams needs to re-sign, the Ravens fit him and he fits the Ravens. Make him an offer he cant refuse and get the deal done. Then focus on a WR, March 9. That day, the Ravens will free up 22 million is cap space, which will puts them at about 27 mil total. Let Pitta, Watson and Dumervil go adds another 10 mil. 4 mil for Draft leaves 33 mil, Sign B. Williams- NT (11 mil) B. Marshal- WR ( 4.6) L. Murray RB (5.2) and Vet CB (7 mil) then pay the raises as needed.(5.2)
  16. Sign Marshal, he is a good replacement for Steve Smith Sr. I think he will fit well with the Ravens. His temperament seems to have settled down some. Heck he certainly goes for the ball and his on the field play is what the Ravens need now! Sport trac has his market value at $4.7mil which seems accurate and perfect for the budget. They do a nice job with comparisons and close margin values. considering his size, age and strengths he would compliment Perriman, Wallace and Moore quite well. Also he would allow the Ravens to move away from 5 TE's. Even to the point of letting Watson and Pitta go (unless Pitta signs a reduction agreement) keep Waller, Boye and Crockett - let Williams play his way back on the team or even try to trade a young TE. Never know might get a young QB for one of them. I also think the Ravens should pick up Latavius Murray, he is affordable too! At about the same $4.6- 5.2 mil he could prove to be that big downhill runner the RAVENS need. Allowing Dixon to compliment with his versatility. Also draft a RB with potential without using up an early pick.
  17. lets face it, If Williams, Wagner and Aiken all go in free agency the Ravens will absolutely need some Veteran help. Hopefully they keep Williams. WR- Garcon, Marshall, Britt Wagner and Zuttah can go and my opinion is pick up a Center and Guard.
  18. Taco still looks good but with the showing at the combine, the class looks deep. I think the Ravens will have a shot at a top CB and they should take one if at all possible. Then I think they should take Elflein C from Ohio at #48 (2nd) and solidify the O line! With two picks in the 3rd round I think a good Pass rusher is very possible. We are talking within the first 100 draftees, with the talent spread across the positions there will be talent at the DE-OLB position.
  19. My opinion is there are only 2 corners that should remain from last year- Jimmy Smith and Tavon Young. Start over to find the other 3 CB needed for the 52 man roster. Draft the best CB possible at #16, FA should provide at least one decent addition and then look for good bargain youth!
  20. Another point, The Ravens should get a great player for #2 at 48- The All American Center from Ohio State - Elflein
  21. Im not sure if you know something that the Ravens don't, but The first thing that comes to mind why Cooks when so many free agents are available. I guess what you are saying is Draft picks are less important than the cash/cap. Its a always a big risk to give up multi-players for 1 player. Just think if there is an injury, it increases the choice to 200% wrong. I like Cooks, and dont get me wrong anytime you can make a good deal to the benefit of the team then its worth looking at. But trades involve making it work for 2 teams and the Ravens are in need of multiple position coverage, even in the depth chart with as many FA going through the door this year. Lastly the value of the player must be equal to the trade. I think that with Steve Smith leaving, cash can be transferred to a WR. It just a way to look at it. Its my opinion that there are certain amounts of dollars assigned by the Ravens for each position need and player choice. Even at Draft, remember draft picks cost much less to employ on your team for the first 3 years, (except the top 32 picks which are usually paid better than the average) So with that being said, my vote would be don't trade Draft picks. The Ravens should get the best deal on a strong FA slot receiver that they can. I like Prior at 8.7 mil ( that is the value number NFL draft assigned) Garcon, Britt, Brandon LaFell, Kendall Wright all could fit the mold in my opinion.
  22. very true. He is also getting paid, and in a league where QB's often find the street if they are not starting caliber, he could get another year under his belt with a solid organization. Ryan very well might find himself starting on a team if he shows just enough as a quality back-up on a playoff Ravens team.
  23. Interesting that it is most probably for the Ravens to go with Defense, and early, however I firmly believe that the Ravens should consider Elflein C from Ohio State At #2 (48th) pick and fully solidify the front line early when they can with a 4 year All American. It is obvious from the tape that Dallas got it right and the Ravens have a big weak spot. As far as Defense - sure if one of the top 2 corners is not available at 16, then default to a top 2 DE, OLB or Safety. Its a mathematical fact that only 15 players can go before then so there is going to be a high ranked player- top 2 within one of the primary positions, and the Ravens will get them ! A great position for them to be in this year without posting a complete bust. I see a WR or RB as a deep pick unless a surprise player were to slide down the player pool.
  24. on "5 bold predictions" by Lericos- 1. The Ravens will re-sign offensive tackle Rick Wagner- I don't agree, Wagner will get a higher offer and be paid more than what just a RT is worth. 2. Mike Wallace, Dennis Pitta and Lardarius Webb will all be playing for the Ravens next season- “The Ravens will jettison Elvis Dumervil, Shareece Wright, Jeremy Zuttah, Ben Watson, Kyle Arrington and Kendrick Lewis, creating $18 million in newfound salary cap space. However, several veterans with borderline contracts will be retained." I can agree with this EXACTLY. 3. The Ravens will sign one big-name receiver this offseason: I agree, Marshal, Garcon, Cruz, any veteran, decent, WR that is affordable can be a help. 4. The first-round pick will be a pass rusher- Dont Agree at all. Ravens will retain Williams and utilize the young talent on the team. Maybe a late rounder. CB- Sidney Jones is most probable, DT -Taco Charlton another probability, RB- Dalvin Cook could really help the Ravens. one of these guys will be there! 5. The team will miss out on a top-ranked cornerback in the draft once again- Not a Chance !! so 2 out of 5 is all can agree on...sorry Charlie
  25. it will be interesting to see what players will be available at 16, 48, 80 and 99. A good chance the Ravens pick up a CB and Pass Rush with two of those, and the early CB class will put pressure on them to consider it at 16. Top RB's Cook and Fournette and Top WR Williams and Davis will most probably be gone by 16. The board will dictate, they simply cannot drop down to get a WR if better players fit the needs when "on the clock". Eflein (C) looks to be the clear #2 for the Ravens at 48, in my opinion. With Safety and DE looking to dominate interest at #3, I would really like to see Desmond Cook (S) or Chris Wormley (DE) be there for the Ravens WR pick could and most probably will fall to the second #3 (99 ) for the Ravens. At 99 (3b) and the 115 (4th) is where I see the Ravens pick up WR, OLB, or the missed DE ,S help.
