  1. Will Terrance Brooks even be able to practice before the season begins? His injury looked ugly.

I doubt it, but when he was on the field he made plays. Remember the Colts game and the hit against the Titans?

    Both FSU picks were SOLID

  2. I disagree with the bold.  His rookie year, to me, wasn't promising.  All I recall was talk about him having to play out of his natural position as a reason why he looked so bad and was beaten left and right.  Then he got moved to SS and managed to actually get worse.  How does a player actually get moved to his natural position and get worse???

Some people compare it to Jimmy and say "well, J.Smith didn't look as promising until his 3rd season also" but there's a huge difference to me.  Outside of battling injuries and that Chargers game in 2011, Jimmy actually looked promising.  He was never flat out beat our out of position, he just had one huge flaw in his game which was turning his head to locate the ball.  His coverage was always very good and that's what you ask of a CB to start.  Elam's tackling was his only saving grace in 2013 and he managed to get immensely worse in that aspect in 2013.

I will admit bias as I never liked the Elam pick from day one.  I wanted Jonathan Cyprien although I haven't followed him at all to see if he's been better but I can't imagine he hasn't been.  Until proven otherwise, Elam is a bust to me

That's fair, he was by no means a popular pick for any of us. He was suppose to be, above all, a good tackler. Did not see that as much as I'd like to.

  3. No, last year was horrible for him. Let's give it some more time before we label him a bust. His rookie year looked promising, I however can't pinpoint what happened to him last year.

Let's watch this year now that the backfield is crowded with Hill, Lewis, and Brooks who LOOKS the part of the next safety for us

  4. What a career, the man is a legend here in South Florida. Thank you for everything your brought to the University of Miami and continuing that with Baltimore.

    Thanks Ed!!!!

  5. According to Stephen A, Floyd told him via text that he would fight Manny once again after he heals from surgery.

This of course coming out after it was revealed that Manny and his camp hid the fact the boxer was hurt during training sessions some 2.5 weeks ago.

Manny may even face discipline for apparently lying to the boxing committee.

Floyd said he would be willing to wait for Manny to heal up so that they could fight again

    Thoughts?

  6. Manny was successful early on.  Flloyd seemed ready to fight it out up until that 3rd round (or was it 4th) hit to the face that stumbled him.  After that, Mayweather did things his way.

I fully disagree with the many people that say Floyd ran all much.  In actuality, he played Pacquiao from early on.  Taunted him into punches (like when he kept saying "nope" after 3 consecutively blocked barrages).  Mayweather backed himself into the ropes a few times to to let Manny wear himself out only to use the same swing and slide move to get out the ropes.  Floyd dominated that fight.  Fighters struggle against Boxers

Yep, the real issue here is how emotionally invested alot of the people were in this fight. People don't like Floyd and will try their best to discredit Floyd in anyway they can.

"Oh he ran the whole fight" really? I'm pretty sure Floyd threw more punches and LANDED more punches.

Once again, the villian won the fight, that entire arena wanted Manny to win.

Manny was NO DIFFERENT than any of the fighters before him, and that's what hurts people the most. This was their chance to finally get to Floyd and it failed

  7. I think I saw someone mention that Bobby Engram was talking about Perriman being the "X" from day one, which would make him the number one receiver right off the bat.

Never the less, it's going to be an exciting year.

I'm alot more concerned about our defense than I am about our offense.

    Is this the Ravens? lol

  8. I called it out to everyone I was watching the fight with, Manny isn't hitting Floyd.

Everyone thought Manny was going to force Floyd to fight differently, the contrast in styles etc etc.

It was boring to alot of people because Floyd was dominating as the fight went on and most people just don't like his defensive style.

Defense wins championships....see what I did there?

  9. I just don't see Steve Smith being the one anymore or having nearly the same production.

If Perriman is as good as we the Ravens think he is, and with Marlon and Aiken/ Maxx then Steve doesn't have to be the man like he was last year.

It'll keep him fresh, remember how he started last year? I think we relied on him too much towards the end, mostly due to injuries to Pitta and Camp.

A fresh Steve as our slot guy? Oh yea

  10. Yes it's a great chance imo. Even before Marc came aboard as the OC, Harbs was talking about reducing Smith Sr's role in the offense and not asking so much of him to keep him fresh. However losing Torrey put Smitty back in a position where the offense will have to rely on him a lot(at least early) until hopefully these young guys can step up on a consistent bases.

That's when I expect to see Smitty taking that lesser role, once you have guys like Brown, Aiken, Perriman, Williams and even Juice proving that they can be relied upon. Won't list Pitta for obvious reasons.

But I don't think his role will be reduced because Trestman wants tall WR, because I think Marc likes physical WRs more then just tall guys and nobody is more physical then Smitty. But if the likes of Brown and Perriman can step up early, then it will appear that Smitty is taking a backseat to the taller WRs, but really it'll just be taking a backseat to younger WRs

I wouldn't see it as a backseat because I believe Smith in the slot will only make it that much easier on Smith. If Perriman can command the best CB on the field, I can Smith having a better YAC than last year. I think at this point in his career and based on what we saw last year as to what he can do, the slot and the middle of the field may be the best way to utilize him as a weapon.

I'm pumped for this year lol

  11. I might try a stab at this later, but something to consider when you all are making your depth charts is that Ozzie and Harbaugh hinted at a reduced role for Steve Smith Sr. this season and with the arrival of Maxx Williams and Breshad Perriman, that's probably going to be even more true. Add in the fact that Trestman really seems to value the mismatches of big players and Steve could be in for career lows, or at least far less impactful numbers this season.

He's going to the slot where he can really do damage

  12. that's what makes the draft so great imo. Because you never know which players will hit and which will miss. I'm sure the Ravens brass was just as excited to land Elam as they were to land Mosley, but until you get these guys on the field you just never know what you got.

Regardless of how much college football we watch as fans, in most cases we are just at the mercy of big names and highlight reels. We don't break down film for a living and most don't have that eye for talent like scouts do and even they get it wrong most times. So when it comes to either later round picks or just the difference between a guy who you don't really know much about as opposed to a guy who you actually know from college football, we want the guy we know about.

I would love to be inside the draft room, not on draft day but on the days when the final draft broad is put together because I know in many cases the scouts and personnel staff are just like us fans in terms of pounding the table for a certain guy but others just not agreeing with what you see.

I am much more excited to land Perriman than I was for Elam. I live in South Florida and saw a couple games that he played in college and I wasn't too crazy about him. That being said, his rookie year I think he played well, he just regressed badly his 2nd year and I can't figure out why. I thought he was a a great help in the run support or at lease that's what I thought he should have been.

Mosley? By far one of my favorite picks, I was pumped during the Colts game when I saw him run around 3 blockers to make a one arm tackle. That was epic lol

So far, aside from Elam Ozzie and the team have picked very productive players in the first round for us over the years.

  13. We just got real tall at WR with this pick. Can't say I know much of this guy, I don't watch college as much as I should.

That being said, I saw some of his highlights and I liked what I saw.

It's going to be a wait and see, just like CJ. Reference my avi so you can see how I felt about that pick lol.

Bleacher Report is trashing the pick and giving it a D

    Let them hate lol
