NOW, it drives us ALL UP A WALL AT THE FACT THAT FLACCO AND THE OFFENSE NEVER SEEM to be able to put it together during the regular season....it seems like they have a separate playbook for the playoffs, the coaches must be getting together and saying "man these plays work, let's not use them up during the regular season and catch everybody by surprise"
the offense does not seem to be playing to Flacco's or the WR's strength and it completely leaves me confused. It makes absolutely NO sense how effective Flacco is in the playoffs where the games are harder to the regular season. In my opinion, the plays they call are monotonous. There isn't any umfff, there's no "hey Flacco is really good at this one thing so let's take advantage of it" he's a pocket guy who isn't going to light it up with his legs. Where are the PA's passes and routes that allow him to take advantage of his big arm? everything seems to be a floater to a guy running a straight line up the field
if you include the sb run, that's 21 TD's and 3ints, Joe's QBR has not dipped below 90 in the last 4 playoff runs we had...you would have to go as far back as 09 and 08 when he first appeared
49 minutes ago, Sami84 said:Here is some context for you. Based on his form outside of the 2012 post season, i can safely conclude that flaccos post-season run in 2012 was an aberration that will never happen again and it is more likely that due to this flukey 2012 post season we wont be making the playoffs until flacco is off the books.
This is completely incorrect. I did you the favor and pulled up the stats of Joe the year BEFORE the SB run and the 2 years after with Kubiak (we missed the playoffs after the SB)
176 yards 2TDs, 306 yards 2TDs Int <-----that was the heartbreaking loss to the Pats and the Cundiff missed FG
Kubiak offense
259 yards 2TD's and 292 yards 4 TD's 2ints
that's a total of 1,033 yards in 4 PLAYOFF games 10TD's and 3ints without including his SB run.....this proves that something is off with him and the offense during the regular season, HOWEVER it is not up for debate as to what he can do in the playoffs. So no, you are wrong to say it was an aberration, the difference was TJ Whosyourmomma was not there to drop a ball put in his chest and Lee Evans did not drop the TD......
I am watching closely, it seems that teams have some sort of game plan that allows WR's an opportunity to get WIDE OPEN.....for some odd reason all of Joes throws are Heavily contested by 1 defender our WR's can't seem to break loose from with the exception of Pitta.
do we really feel like the Ravens are drafting the best player available?
38 minutes ago, JoeyFlex5 said:I agree on most of your points but it is reasonably speculated that Carl Davis actually went to the "phantom ir" because he played horrible in the preseason. He was facing guys who will never sniff a regular season snap and was totally invisible. Considering his reputation of laziness and lack of desire to improve its a bad sign that he showed flashes as a rookie and then regressed so badly in year 2 that he did literally nothing against the soon-to-be stockbrokers and insurance salesmen of the preseason 4th quarters.
36 minutes ago, The Raven said:Yeah, I'm agreeing with this.
Carl Davis could have borderline Ndamakong Suh potential if he actually gave a damn. He's got size, natural strength, athleticism, and natural talent, but he's letting it all slip. He has all of the tools and he does nothing with it.
I am still hoping he is who he showed us last year against starting NFL players and hope the pre-season was a mistake on his part. If he pans out to be who he was projected/showed he was our defense would be on a different level in my opinion
7 hours ago, JoeyFlex5 said:camp fell because of his lengthy injury history, we took him hoping he could shake the injury bug but he didnt, that wasnt bad luck.
carl davis was a first round talent who fell to the 3rd due to maddening inconsistency and rumored laziness and bad conditioning, well guess what happened to carl davis...
elam was a bust long before the injuries, he was known as a high risk pick because hes a guy who lays his undersized body on the line to make big hits with no regard for proper tackling form and no awareness, look what he struggled with in the NFL..
weve had bad luck for sure, but this isnt bad luck, its like i said with keenan reynolds, if you go against the grain and the player proves doubters wrong then you look like a genius, but if you take a player with known red flags and they fail because of those red flags then it was a stupid pick. now i liked a lot of these picks because of the possible value and them being mid to low range picks, but we also shouldnt be hanging the hopes of our team on late draft picks either. most of our bad luck has come from free agents and re-signing players, our drafting hasnt been much bad luck, its been mostly dumb and bad picks.
to be fair, when Carl stepped in he played better than Timmy J who was dealing with a few minor injuries. He looked great out there and is now on IR. He would have helped our team defensively much more than an Urban would have. In fact, based on that small sample I would go as far to say that he may be our future DE at some point.
I still feel that a lot of the picks we have made just have not been on the field to matter
I never liked the Reynolds pick, not for what we need.
Elam played well his first year, as to what happened year 2 will always be a mystery to all of us. That being said, apparently his confidence was back and he was playing well enough to have the coaches talk him up. However, an injury kept him out...I believe it was a torn bicep?
5 minutes ago, usmccharles said:You do realized, I mentioned injuries, right?
I only touched on the comment about players not performing, I am leaning mostly on injuries because in my opinion it begins and ends with health for us. I know you mentioned it before, I am just emphasizing on injuries more

I think the main problem is just players not performin
the answer is simple, we have not been healthy for years. Camp looked all the bit of a big steal at WR but he at this point just can not stay on the field. Maxx Williams showed a bunch of promise but he went down as well. We lost a full year of Perrimans time, combine that with the fact that Boyle has also been suspended. Carl Davis? Injury. Matt Elam? Injury....regardless of how we felt about him, he still has not been on the field enough to know what he can do.....

That team flat out dominated every team they played at the start, than poof horrible embarrassing losses. Sound familiar? If we get the line healthy, and get rid of Webb at FS than we have a better team and shot than the majority of the league. We're still only a 9-7 team but the way it's looking that's gonna be better than the majority of the league. Just like every year. This is the NFL
I seriously do not think Webb is an issue. We have a top ranked defense, they are the least of our worries whether we get sacks or not. The real issue is how often they get on the field because of our offense

Will Roethlisberger and Suggs play?
Hopefully the Ravens return to their winning ways starting against the Steelers.
Please keep this to the pre-game, Go Ravens!

Cam C isn't in the league anymore, Jim C was a stand in for Cam, Kubiak left, and now we have Marc T....are you sure it's Flacco?
50 minutes ago, The Raven said:If we trade a 2nd to a division rival for a 32 year old LT on the downswing I'll join the plebs calling for Ozzie to be fired.
I think we made the right choice, stayed and picked up Stanley who CLEARLY after a short injury stint is ALL WORTH THAT 6th pick
Will Hill was such a disappointment

excuses or not, our issues on offense does not rest solely on the shoulders on Joe Flacco (pun intended). When was the last time we ever saw a WR make a catch down the middle and he was wide open for a big gain? Most of the big plays we have seen so far have been contested catches MUCH to the credit of Perriman making ridiculous adjustments mid air.
Does Flacco deserve the heat? Hell yea, and it's not because he gets paid all that money either. Flacco has shown a bit more patience this year then I've seen and has gone for stretches where he completes 10 plus passes in a row. The issue I see, Flacco is not throwing the ball with velocity (stepping into throws), the route running whether it be because of play calling or a miscommunication SUCKS, I've reviewed some plays where I am scratching my head. Where are the bunch formations, cross routes, plays designed to get our young legs running with a head of steam across the middle? PA passing?
I am sick and tired of watching a 2nd and long be a short 5 yard completion to Mike Wallace.......what are the Ravens doing to take advantage of the players and abilities THEY have? Nothing....and to make matters worse Flacco has no confidence in himself it looks like..his footwork....
Suggs is still the best pass rusher on our squad, he was well on his way to double digit sacks before the injury. I would not count him out even though I was a bit critical of him early in the forums
I wish we would not go away from the run as quick as we do. Also, we need to figure out what is wrong with the route running, there was a replay of a 3rd down we failed to convert and it showed all 3 of our WR's going deep in a straight line...Am I the only one who has a an issue with that play calling? Where are the bunch formations? cross routes? play action passing? where is all the things we use to do?
I feel like a better play calling scheme to help adjust the fact Flacco has to throw the ball quicker and sticking to the run would go a long way. Open the playbook up...
Nothing we can really say about the defense, they are doing a great job in my opinion. Any fumble recovery or INT just drop straight down just in case lol
Somebody who plays with an attitude please
nothing for the offense?
I am sort of losing faith in John...slowly
come to think of it, I have grown use to watching Flacco be in a 2 and 20 over the last couple of games, dump it off 4-6 yards out for a no gain.....what is going on with this offense? Flacco is missing throws, he's constantly back peddling from the pocket because they can not protect him, and CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHY ON A 3rd and 9 I BELIEVE EVERYBODY WENT DEEP? HOW IS IT POSSIBLE THAT NONE OF OUR GUYS GET OPEN???
55 minutes ago, jazz1988 said:Man we need Jim Zorn back lol. I don't know what's wrong with Joe Flacco and I expected him to look so much better this season . Maybe he just needs this bye week to think through things and figure it all out.
why did we let him go to begin with?
injuries have plagued us since the SB run...I do not know what is going on
