  1. All of them have a legitimate shot at stepping up this week. It's just up till now none of these guy have. To be fair Givens just got here and Waller has not been on the field that much.

Aiken has made plays IMO. I hope to see a deep connection to Givens, it would be nice to get him a good start.

  2. Agreed. The whole line has underperformed this year. Yanda included.

And everyone is assuming Urschel will just slot in to replace him. Ok then who's the backup? Our line depth is one of our biggest strengths.

Plus, I like Urschel replacing Zuttah a lot better than replacing KO.

It's not a foregone conclusion that we can't keep both KO and Yanda. The oline is the key to success. I think the FO is going to place a premium on keeping this group together as long as possible.

Resigning KO prob wouldn't cost much capwise until 2018. 1st and 2nd year on 5 year deals are almost always friendly. And since Yanda's older you can afford to front load his a bit more and have the flexibility to move on in 2-3 years if he declines.

Freeing a lot of dead money next offseason should help facilitate this process.

How about Marqise Lee?? He is falling out of favor due to various reasons. Mostly the other young WRs have better chemistry with Bortles and minor Injuries. The jags are high on rookie Greene as well. They could trade Marqise for a 3. Word has it his chemistry has not grown with Bortles as fast as the other WRs and he is so fast in his breaks Bortles has had problems timing him. But elite talent remains. Oz has to give up significant compensation for a quality WR at some point. His raw talent is comparable to Odell Beckham. Golden Gate does not compare. Lee has legit #1 WR talent

I was high on Marquise coming out, I would appreciate it if he joined up with Buck in Bmore!

  3. And i think that would be a mistake if you mean by a first rounder again.  We would have zero veteran prefernce at wr unless you want to count Aiken, a league journymen.  Granted, we dont know what we have in BP yet but i think we will get an idea late this year.  Im sticking to my predictions for next that we aquire Vincent Jackson, Pierre Garcon, or Roddy White, with White be the least attractive to myself, just something i have been saying for a bit.  I dont think we can take another first wround WR, we will either go pass rusher or cb imo

Let's get Pierre, he's the youngest of that bunch.

Conditional 7th rounder for rights to Josh Gordon?

Is he allowed to play this year?

  4. Technically with Pitta injured we're actually missing our two top TEs as well.  What other QB has to play a game without his top 2 WRs, top 2 TEs, and without his LT?  That's a lot of key pieces of the puzzle missing.

It could also be mentioned that we had to cut our star RB last season, a situation that still lingers with a ton of dead money restricting us from stocking up. Then there's the whole Ngata affair - dead money and lost D-line star power.

Go Ravens, prove the doubters wrong and get the SB (for SSS)!

  5. 10-6 might not do it for us. RIGHT NOW, I see the wild cards coming out of the AFC West and East. Losing twice to the AFC West so far is gonna bite us.

Tough luck if that turns out to be the case. Then we'll be left just outside playoff contention, in a lukewarm draft position...

  6. Why would I root for anyone but Baltimore...? I don't understand this article. The best control we have over where we end up is winning our games. Let's do that some more and not have to rely on 'which team needs to lose,'

Sure, that's a noble mindset and all... but have you watched the Ravens play lately? It's not the team I fell in love with back in 2010. At this point they're pretty much dependent on other teams. Their performance against Pittsburgh, didn't provide me with a whole lotta confidence.

We'll see, let's start by demolishing Cleveland at home.

    2

  7. If, we can take care of Cleveland at home (there are no gimmee games) we might be able to right this season

I want to see them go 4-4 into the bye, then there's something to build on. Although it seems 10-6 might be needed for a wild card - 11-5 (which I predicted before the season) is out of the picture at this point.

  8. the key is to see how well they restructure joe flacco's contract. Heck maybe take a paycut. if we can do a good job there, we could be looking at 34 million plus in cap space before resignings

I like Joe but I honestly hope he wants to take a pay cut himself. We can't pay him Rodgers/Brady with his performance as it is at the moment - he's being out played by the likes of Dalton, Carr and maybe even Tyrod. I know people will say, "he's got no weapons" and all that jazz, but that doesn't always explain his (mental/concentration) errors.

Take a slight cut Joe, so they can maintain a strong O-line for you and supply you with weapons... or make me eat crow and start playing like you did during the SB run - then I'm all for paying him the big bucks.

  9. Rams really did virtually give this guy away and many of their fans have said he's just another victim of their inability to utilize WR's properly (see Tavon Austin).

Bold Prediction: In a few weeks Givens is basically Torrey-lite. He doesn't catch a high volume of passes but he takes the top off the defense and can be that 20+ yd threat that also draws a few big PI's. I honestly like his chances of re-upping with us this offseason as we cut the dead weight at WR. Would love to see a 2016 group consisting of:

    1. Perriman

    2. (Draft Pick)

    3. Givens

    4. Aiken

    5. Waller

    6. Campanaro

Not to mention the disappearance of a lot of dead money.

If would have to be another high WR draft pick, if that player is to assume the WR2 position. I think Ozzie might focus on pass rush and secondary in the top of next year's draft.

  10. I like Givens and think he will excel here.

And it's a shame about SSS, hope he can get back soon, but I don't think it's a season ruiner. I think Joe actually played better when he went out of the Pitt game.

It forced him to actually go through his progressions and to trust other guys to make plays. With SSS on the field he's locked in on him way too much and forced way too many balls in there, a few of which have been picked off and turned games.

If he's out for say 2 games I think it'll do more good in the long run, forcing Joe to throw to other targets and build some chemistry/trust. Then throw him back in the mix and we'll be much better for it.

We can win these next 2 without him. Givens is going to be a play maker right away, and Aiken will build on his performance Thursday.

I feel it. This season is going to turn around, an we'll get healthy just in time to be the hottest team in the league going into the playoffs with SSS, Perriman, possibly Pitta, and Urban all coming back.

    - Good point, the picks vs. DEN + PIT were targeted at Smitty.

    - Maybe. Let's see him incorporate the TE's a lot more including RB dump offs.

How does Givens compare to Torrey? Both are 6 ft, 200'ish lbs with 4.4 speed.

    - I hope you're right, it's all about coming into the playoffs with momentum as opposed to just being a good regular season team (*cough* Andy Dalton/Bengals...).

  11. I'm just disappointed that we didn't improve in this game. We REALLY looked awful in this game. Would rather lose a game clean than win with luck, the opponents best player out, and their kicker missing 5 field goals straight. Just saying, we didn't prove anything.

That's exactly how I feel. Winning with a bad taste in your mouth is just not the same.

The Ravens were never gonna go winless for the season, and so they luck'ed out in Pittsburgh last night.

However, their performance didn't (shouldn't) instill any confidence that they're on the up and up.

  12. This is one of the dumbest things that I've ever heard!  Lol!

Agree to disagree I guess. Wanker really. Being in a 0-2 hole, I was expecting the guys to ball out and play with urgency. Except for Smitty and a few others, I (myself personally) saw a pretty flat football team. Expecially the D, just giving up chunk after chunk of yardage. Also, I wrote 'maybe' - I'm not saying I have all the answers, to me it just looks like things need to get shaken up.

More importantly how does being a humble fan help the team at all? Doesn't matter if we are arrogant or humble. Not like they get losses for our arrogance and wins for our humbleness.

Not really referring to the fans here, don't really see the relevance - much like you mention. I want to see the team more humble AND hungry, I thought being down 0-2 would do that for them. Maybe being down 0-3 will push them to play ALL out. They've looked pretty flat so far IMHO.

  13. 2013 Elam was the ONLY new cog. Diggs had been here.

Arrington & Lewis played well for other teams and now they're garbage? Stewart was one of the players that all the Pees supporters said what was he supposed to do with that in coverage? He was garbage and look at him now.

Not buying it. These guys were all in camp together. They've had plenty of time to get their communication down. I have not seen ANY other team EVER have these issues season after season after season no matter the turnover. That is coaching.

This 0-3 (possibly 0-4) start might be what this team needs, to get things shaken up a bit. Like others have mentioned, Ravens fans have been spoiled for a long time with consecutive winning seasons and playoff appearances.

We might need a season or two to get humble and hungry, build with high(er) draft picks, do some coaching changes and come back new and refreshed....

    Either way, go Ravens!

  14. yea it is but really ravens fans I'm annoyed to see so much giving up comments from some of you guys, if u a die hard ravens fans then you would keep your hopes alive and keep cheering on the ravens. To me, Joe sigh kill me later but I believe Joe can be a H.O.F when he put them up  yes i know he threw picks in the clutch twice but I'm sure cool joe will come out and for the first time in years we will actually see january joe come out in the regular season. Go ravens

Sometimes when you're really invested in a team (or pretty much anything), you (at least myself) can't help but become extremelly frustrated when dropping close games like they've done the past 2 weeks. That doesn't mean I don't HOPE and PRAY for the boys to turn it around!

My heart has been racing during the final quarter of these last couple of games, and I've been walking back and forth in front of the TV - loudly cheering for the guys when they make plays! Emotional reactions usually aren't logical, and I find it difficult to let go of dissapointing losses.

However, once kickoff commences I cheer back up... until things start to go downhill - can't help it. I think the negative fans might just be very invested emotionally.

With this talk on feelings done, let's just get a W Sunday!!

    Go Ravens!!

  15. Don't like this logic because every opponent and scenario is different. Game plans will be altered significantly when facing those types of offenses. Plus we know Ben & Brady much more than Carr.

I certainly agree we need a better pass rush but I also think executing is just as important. I believe we have very good personnel in place. Let's give em more time to gel together. It's still way too early for me to panic. The next 2 games and 4 that follow will give us a better look of this years team. I just hope if it's not working we can fix it in time.

I'm just struggling to understand how this 'very good personnel' could deliver such different performances in the span of 7 days.

I'd love for the D vs. DEN to join the O vs. OAK, that would be a sight to behold! We need a win Sunday - go Ravens!

Smith can't catch in the end zone period. Put him on the sideline inside the 20.

He hasn't delivered in the redzone lately, but the same can be said for our O in general imo. Seem to get stuck there from time to time.

  16. I'm not coming close to buying this yet.

    1. The Raiders are a terrible secondary, and in particular, terrible linebacking core in coverage. Crockett tears up the first half when their defense let him prance through the meadow like he was a little girl they didn't want to hit.

    2. Second half, different game. They start jamming him, he actually has to work to get open, and he doesn't perform nearly as well.

Expect a lot of #2 on Sunday, particularly against a Bengals linebacking core that's pretty decent in coverage. I'm predicting a rather large decline in production on Sunday for Crockett.

Sure, those are good points which is why I said '-esque'. Also, I was more referring to his physical ability to drag 2-3 defenders into the endzone. I'm not saying he's got the speed and route ability of Gronk.

  17. we lack playmakers.  Both of these guys can create something out of nothing.  not like we have many other options

I think Senior showed plenty, Forsett also displayed nice patience.

But we should definitely feed the hot hands and Crock was ballin' vs. Oakland.
