I wasn't aware offensive coordinaters declared for the draft nowadays ![]()

That being said, I think I would prefer the first one - but maybe taking Sterling Shepard instead of Miller. Do you think Braxton will pan out as a legitimate threat at WR?
On 31/1/2016 at 6:49 PM, balfan23 said:I agree with this. I just don't understand the notion that a player who is dynamic, athletic and highly skilled is, at age 21/22 locked into a style of play that cannot be changed. Sure, there are limits to what you can do, as you can't jam a square peg into a round hole, but some of these differences feel like mere adjustments that can be made. You can't pass on a freak talent, because of the scheme he was placed into in college doesn't match your pro team.
Good point, athleticism especially will help in adating to different positional placements on the field.
Bosa or Ramsey at #6 imo, otherwise trade back a handful of spots and and draft Alexander or Spence... something like that.
1 hour ago, JoeyFlex5 said:i think spence will be on ozzie radar for the first pick, realistically we probably wont take him unless we trade back in the first, but i can almost assure you if hes there in the 2nd then hes the pick lol
You're right. After I did my two "preffered" scenarios I realized that I really wouldn't mind ANY combination of those players (one at each position).
If Ozzie addresses those position groups in the first three rounds I'm good - the draft is too far away.
Rush, secondary and receiver arguably are the biggest needs (fingers crossed KO stays), and should be adressed during the first three rounds.
1st round: Joey Bosa/Jalen Ramsey/Laquon Treadwell
2nd round: Noah Spence/Kendall Fuller/Tyler Boyd
3rd round: Yannick Ngakoue/Will Redmond/Sterling Shepard
I think I would prefer either Bosa/Fuller/Shepard or Ramsey/Boyd/Ngakoue.
Well Webb oughta be thankful we are considering him at Safety because otherwise as a corner he
is bye bye, in other words cut along with Arrington and Lewis
Totally agree.
I remember being excited/optimistic about Kendrick and Kyle last offseason
---> --->
, moving on!
In his post game interview he acknowledged that he was moving to free safety but didn't seem too happy about it...
My thoughts exactly, the vibe was very weird. The bad season could also have been on his mind a bit... who knows, I hope he starts picking people off left and right and by doing so gets stoked about his position switch.
have you seen our pass rush though? improving that area, will pay huge dividends for our secondary and our team as a whole.
and as much as we would like to see a sexy pick and have the high upside guy turn out to be everything we wanted... a blown 6th overall pick would all but bury this team and would be the beginning of the end for harbs and ozzie i think.
You're right, I think I'm just craving a sexy INT-making machine - but with Webb changing and Lewis out (hopefully) I feel a little better.
Let's see how Z. Smith and Guy get freed up when/if Suggs returns. But like you said, we definitely need some new rushing forces - I was just thinking about taking care of that in the second (Ngakoue perhaps).
So, if Oz passes on Bosa/VH3/Ramsey then they trade back to the middle of the round and get Buckner, Ogbah, Nkemdiche or perhaps Mackensie Alexander?
well would you rather have a safe pick or a complete bust? We need somebody to come in and contribute immediately yes- but that doesn't mean we risk taking a guy who has an incredible ceiling but big bust potential. I'd much rather play it safe as well, and that doesn't mean that player won't turn out to be gold. If you pick smart you can find impact players in any and every round. I'm sure you know this
That's true and now it seems official that Webb will be switching to FS. That will hopefully sideline Lewis and Elam, if they're even here next season.
We just finished a bad 5-11 season guys, it doesn't seem like a safe pick will do the trick at turning the ship around. Much less at the d-line where we're crowded as it is. In order to become relevant again (besides avoiding injuries) we clearly need a playmaker in the secondary.
I think DB should be first priority in the first round, especially if the secondary is not adressed through FA.
people just want somebody they can assign blame to and point fingers at. If they actually took the time to look at the statistics and to consider the circumstances they would actually realize he's done quite well. I bet you that a few days ago almost nobody on these boards could have told you that we have the number 1 pass defense since week 7- too busy bashing pees to even see it.
Wow, really... that's pretty cray?
It just hasn't generally looked that way to me. Webb is slow to the ball, Jimmy gets burned (too much for his new contract) and K. Lewis aka. Magnum P.I. never turns around to locate the ball. Oh, and Kyle... Arrington is it?
Wright has acclimated quite well lately though imo.
I can't wait for offseason re-tooling, it's always an exciting time of the year.
So what is our best bet for a ballhawking centerfielder? Ignorant as I am I was of the impression that Ramsey was a FS.
Elam, Hill and Lewis are not suited back there, maybe Brooks or Webb?
What are the chances of Webb Making that shift?
Right. Only six out of seven full seasons he brings us to the playoffs.
Sure, that's all Joe. No one else contributed to those playoff berths.
Besides the epic SB run and phenomenal games here and there - Joe arguably is a high priced game manager.
Let's see what happens during training camp with Joe coming off surgery and all.
Mallett is a much cheaper game manager - that's all I'm saying.
Getting a bit carried away here, playoff Flacco has Mallett beat big time
But regular season Flacco doesn't automatically guarantee a playoff berth...
Hopefully Ryan will provide Joe with some much needed competition at the position.
I have to agree with the OP. I love Chris, Givens, D Brown and Camp.
Clay might make Camp expendable though.
With Camp it's all about health - we'll see if he can escape his fragile past, otherwise I think he gets cut after next year's training camp.
UM NO , Just NO!! Flacco is far from perfect or great but is far and away better than Clausen or any of the other flunkies on the team. The only way Flacco doesnt is if he isnt ready to go on the field. But there is a possibility that Flacco on one leg is better than Schaub Clausen Mallett
To quote the great Ron Burgundy: "Well, agree to disagree".
I know Jimmy Clausen isn't better than Joe (... at this point), and I don't believe I wrote that in any way, shape or form.
However, I am getting tired of Joe's knack for throwing picks. He's 8-9 seasons in, gets paid a gazellion dollars yet he regularly finds opposing team's DB's. Joe threw picks in 9 out of 11 games this season - including 4 multiple-pick contests. He has been an iron man so far, but will that be different after his first major injury now? Also, there's no denying he turns it up in January (but the thing is you need to qualify via the regular season).
Jimmy has played but 3 games here so far, shows good mobility and is able to put some zip on it - I'm looking forward to see how he develops.
Jimmy might push Joe in next year's camp, coming off injury and all. This is the first time I'm seeing our backup QB having a clue + physical tools.
Hopefully Joe comes back hungry and decides to finally take his (regular season) game to the next level.
EXACTLY. What does it say about Lewis that a 2nd year guy that didnt even finish his rookie season due to injury and a 6th(?) year vet MAKE THE SAME MISTAKES.
Let Brooks make and learn from his mistakes. He has got the speed to make plays.
It just seems SO basic for a FS not to let a guy go past him, what in the world are these PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL PLAYERS thinking about when they're out there on the field? smh
We saw the same stuff from Elam when he was the center fielder. Really need a change of scenery on the defensive coaching front and the best FS in the draft!
I do not think they we playing unmotivated football last night. I saw effort all night. We simply lack the quality players that other teams have. Everytime we complete a pass it is contended with no separation, while our opponents receivers seem to have aat least 5 yards of buffer on each reception. Jimmy Smith is not good - perhaps his foot is just not better yet. Webby is done - stick a fork in him. I think Harbs does a fantastic job and this year he is trying to use subpar NFL players against a very difficult schedule. We have been on the wrong end of some very bad officiating at key times in games as well. Just a tough year and a TON of work to do in the off-season.
Harbs it totally safe.
It's really sad with Jimmy, he looked so good last year before the injury. Hopefully he can bounce back, otherwise the FO has paid yet another (misguided) huge deal to a CB coming off injury.
are just going to find a reason to bash every player on our roster?
Except Morgan Cox, what a specimen (in every aspect possible)!

Roger, sorry 'bout that.
Urban returned before Perriman...
Dez Bryant returned before Perriman...
We get it already. The fact of the matter is you cannot compare injuries like that. If Perriman was ready to go he would be out there, he's not out there - ergo, concordantly, vis à vis... he's not ready. Let's see if we can move on.Big Ben returned before Perriman...
Maybe switch Marlon for Daniel, one Brown for another.Nobody.
SSS is going to be IR'd.
Now they might cut someone to add another WR for depth, maybe Daniel Brown.
Not sure if it's been mentioned earlier in the thread, but Joe seemed to put more zip on the balls than he usually does imo. More low-arching laser shots and less balloon floaters that are 'easily' intercepted.
Nice to see Joe play an INT-free game for a change.
In a medicore draft, yes, yes we do need the overall #1 pick. Plus consider Suggs is almost done, we need Bosa.
I have heard him being mentioned a tad overrated, either way he might still be available top 3-5.
i think we have seen the last snap of steve smiths career, very sad.
that said, flacco seems to play just fine without him, he is more willing to spread the ball around, he seems less int-prone, he doesnt have the same tunnel vision, we love to have him on the field and it is extremely sad to see him go down, but i think joe can handle things without a crutch of a WR to lean on. hes better spreading it around.
aiken is so hot and cold, sometimes i wonder if he actually is who he was being hyped up as in the offseason...
urschel needs to work on his snap game.
we desperately need a LT because monroe is worthless if hurst is playing in his place all the time.
we still desperately need a safety
if perriman lives up to first round status when he returns, then we may be ok at WR, aiken and givens are both catching fire and it would be nice to see them build upon that as 2 and 3.
So true, Joe needs to go through his progessions and spread it around.
I'm sad for Smitty, I thought "achilles" to myself as soon as he pulled up. Looked like he hyperextended his foot into dorsi flexion a couple steps before the tackle.
Too bad we couldn't give him that ring last season.
Alot of their injuries were on offense and their corners were still there so, yes Aiken did step up.
Aiken has been playing under the radar all season imo, he deserves a bigger role.
Marlon and Waller have been underwhelming, Camp was flashy and brittle as always, need to see more from Givens and Ross.
Next years WR corps (imo):
Vet FA (Garcon, VJAX...)
High'ish draft pick (first three rounds or so)
Perriman
Aiken
2 of Givens, Ross, Camp and Waller
in 2016 NFL Draft

Maybe I just haven't been paying attention close enough, but I feel like Timmy was very quiet this past season. Or did he just do a lot of 'bread and butter stuff' (hmm) that didn't show up in the stat sheet?
Like others have said I also feel like we should address defense in the first round. Depending on how the chips fall we should be able to pick one of Buckner, Bosa, Jack, Ramsey, Spence or Jaylon. All great talents I would welcome with open arms.
I think I might even stay up late here in Europe and watch our pick live, since we're on the clock so early this year.
Can't wait, go Ravens!
