  1. Sure Torrey might have better accelaration, although I always felt he was kinda slow out of his stance as well. Still, the 40 yard dash measures how fast a player covers 40 yards north to south in a straight line. Waller with 4.46 is just behind Torrey at 4.43. This number van be manipulated by the defense by jamming receivers of course, but if I recall right Torrey wasn't exactly a beast off the line either. He still produced as a deep threat here. Guess we'll have to wait and see, Sunday can't come fast enough!
  2. It has probably been mentioned already, but could Waller function as the interim deep threat until Breshad returns? His 40 was almost equal to that of Torrey, but people have said he struggles getting off the line. He has jump ball ability and a big catch radius. How is he not able to overpower most CB with sheer physicality?
  3. Let's not forget about Nick Boyle, he seems to have good potential receiving as well as blocking. I would love to have Dennis back, he just gets open like Camp does. However, MAYBE he should retire while he still has his health. That hip of his has to be a concern at this point and it might loom in the back of his mind everytime he (possibly) runs a route, catches a pass or braces for a tackle. We'll see what the future brings, first off let's dominate on Sunday. I'll do my utmost to send supportive vibes across the Atlantic. Go Ravens!
  4. When will the Patriots organization be brought to justice? They seem to be able to get away with just about anything, can't stand that team! I hope we demolish them in the playoffs! Go Ravens.
  5. NOTE TO SELF, START USING MULTI QUOTE MORE OFTEN. Also, don't forget this is Smitty's last ride. This should (hopefully) provide an extra measure of urgency for everyone on the team, especially Steve who always seems fired up. Imagine if he turns it up another notch this year, compared to his first 14 seasons in the league. Lord have mercy.
  6. Not only KO, Ricky and Eugene have also been a little knicked up lately - but like you said, our starting O-line is beastly. Fingers crossed.
  7. According to sources Aqib Talib has been icing up for the past week, and it doesn't look like he's about to stop anytime soon. GO RAVENS!
  8. The "Almighty" Wizard stood firm in his diagnosis of OBJ last year labeling him a big, fat bust... but then he somehow changed his mind as the season progressed... I would assume. Ignorance is bliss. Just rewatched Perriman's pro day forty, what a smooth gait - he didn't strain himself one bit. He's obviously a special athlete; if he can combine that with solid (not necessarily ELITE) football technique and IQ along with durability I'll be one happy camper. Get well soon Breshad!
  9. Good point and it also seems he's bettered himself on ST. Anyone know what his weight is up to these days?
  10. As lovely a play as it was, it was a short comeback that he broke of when the corner missed the tackle. Imo a true deep threat is a 50+ yard bomb from Flacco's hand to the WR's gloves, sprinkled with a little extra YAC if possible. Smith did have plenty of plays like that last season though, Tampa and opening vs. Cinci comes to mind. God I love Smitty, let's get him that ring!
  11. I remember Leach catching some nice passes, he also caught one in the SB no? I loved watching him catch and tumble along like a big bear. Anyways, I get what you're saying - Arthur needs to develop into a more complete player. Waste of a roster spot if all he does (well) is the occasional blitz. He's shown some flashes this pre season, let's hope that has given him some confidence that he can apply to his regular season snaps.
  12. Definitely, I'm always eager for football to begin but pre season just ins't the same. It's pretty boring sometimes imo, as nothing's on the line. If the o-line and secondary stays healthy we will do very good this year, I bet some hard earned money on Ravens winning it all (fingers crossed).
  13. Exactly, not many teams could make it as far as we did last season with such a devastated secondary, and still we had the chance to send Bellicheat and Crybrady home at the end of that game. It was kind of an achievement in itself! Let's go on a rampage this season and get Smitty that ring!
  14. I'm with you on Vaughn over Asa for defensive duties, he also flashed on "defensive" ST. But who'll return for us when/if Asa is cut? I would prefer the majority of Camp's (limited) snaps to be used on offense and not (punt) returns.
  15. I enjoyed reading that but I'm also a biased Ravens fan Can't wait for the regular season when vanilla is out and chocolate is back! Go Ravens!
  16. Brooks has potential but he has yet to show it - his only highlight so far would be the hit on Delanie imo. That was an awesome hit though, I was fortunate to attend that game. I hope Terrence develops nicely despite his recent setback. Hill and Brooks could form a solid back end.
  17. Week 1 at Denver will be a loss Week 2 at Oakland will be a win. Week 3 Home Opener with Cincinnati will be a win Week 4 At Pittsburgh will be a loss Week 5 Cleveland at home will be a win. Week 6 At Niners will be a win Week 7 at Phoenix will be a loss Week 8 San Diego at home will be a win Week 9 Bye Week 10 Jacksonville at home will be a win. Week 11 St. Louis at home will be a win. Week 12 at Cleveland will be a win Week 13 at Miami will be a win Week 14 Seattle at home will be a loss Week 15 Kansas City at home will be a win Week 16 Pittsburgh at home will be a win. Week 17 at Cincinnati will be a loss 11-5. Maybe the momentum from the 'supposed' victory vs Pitt could carry us to a win @ Cinci, thus resulting a 12-4 in my scenario. This should be good for the crown of the north. Like others have mentioned, the Ravens aren't the only team who's 'struggled' in PRE-SEASON. Also, they're not the only team with depth issues and injury concerns (goes for the entire league).
  18. The kick return had me excited, but I think his cb play was hot and cold. Like you said, he had the play where it bounced to the skins for a TD. That's bad luck, but he also whiffed on go ahead tackles. At another point he made a good break up in the end zone, only to give up an easy TD on the very next play. He really needs to play more consistently, but his return ability might be what separates him from Vaughn and Pointer.
  19. Yep, we HAVE to get this man a ring!
  20. Oh my god, for the millionth time. YES, Perriman is eligible for the PUP.
  21. I guess I'm just speaking from my own experience with a bum knee. I struggled mightily to regain strength and stability in my joint, but of course I'm FAR from being a pro athlete. On top of that I don't have access to all the treatment Breshad has. I would just rather they ease him in and let him fully recover and regain his strength before fielding him. Especially if the injury is more serious than we've been let to believe. Then again there's also the 'business' aspect, we need him to round off our WR corps. Kind of a double edged sword, we really want to see him play but we also wan't him healthy for the season/playoffs/future. I wouldn't mind waiting until week 4 if that meant he was 110%. Thanks for the heated debate Joey and go Ravens!
  22. Wow this sucks, I usually like your posts. However, I think you're evading/ignoring my arguments. I'm not sure if you're into athletic performance, anatomy, physiology etc. but I've been digging into it for quite some time. Neither of us know what Perriman is able to do with his knee at this point. Like I said earlier, I'm guessing he might only be doing light rehab stuff - that has been the premise of my posts the whole time. Then you seemingly mention the use of cardio machines, as a way for Perriman to maintain his pre-injury shape. IF cardio machines have been his only physical activity since he went down, then (imo) he will not be in pre-injury shape at this point - or when and if he gets cleared during the next two weeks or so. When I say cleared, I mean the doctors saying: "Your bruise/strain has now healed sufficiently for you to start gaining back what you lost in the weight room and running/cutting on the field." Obviously (imo) you wouldn't have BP doing 400 lbs squats right at that point, IF all he's done for 4-6 weeks is light rehab and cycling. Also, you're not gonna have him do all out sprints and full speed route running the next day. You've got to ease him back into it. Regaining lost strength, joint stability, "sprint" conditioning, explosiveness etc. is easily a 4 week process (imo). He has healed very slowly, and needs to be slowly reintroduced to the physical elements of football. Again, this is my opinion which seems to displease you for some reason. Sorry for the rant, never meant to attack you personally.
  23. Are you saying that the exercise bike is a substitute for heavy strength training, sprinting, cutting and jumping? I'm hypothesizing that he hasn't been able to do much (if any) activity with his knee because of his constantly delayed return. No one seems to know what's happening behind the doors, is he training in the gym everyday or relegated to stretching and other rehab work? So far he's missed a month, he might miss another 2 weeks for all we know. You keep bringing up cardio machines, I just don't see how they relate to football conditioning. The exercise bike is nothing like sprinting, so while it may keep his heart rate up it'll do nothing for his sprint conditioning and it won't tax his knees. Sparing you joints, which you're forced to do during rehab, will detract from his on field sprinting performance. The wear and tear of sprinting and cutting is something he needs to build back up to once he's cleared for field activity. Another factor is strength which quickly decreases during inactivty: http://healthyaging.ku.dk/news/inactivity-reduces-peoples-muscle-strength/ (This article specifically states that cycling isn't sufficient in making up for lost strength) That strength will have to be regained before he can subject his knee to the pounding of football again. If all of the above mentioned is the case, I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't see him until about mid season. That's a lot of "if's" I know, but currently we don't have much to go on.
  24. That cardio isn't really specific to the game of football though. Sure, it get's the heart rate going but it neglects the muscles, joints and movement patterns BP needs to play the game. If his knee isn't cleared for any real exercise then his strength, speed, explosiveness, mobility and stability could decrease a fair bit during 4-6 weeks of inactivity. If that's the case he'll probably need about an equal amount of time (as his period of inactivity) to regain all those physical skills, before he can work up to full sprints and hard cutting. At that point they would likely ease him back into team drills and contact. He would probably need a couple weeks of this before being cleared for actual game action. If this is the case we might not see him until mid october - start november.
  25. Sure, I get what you're saying. It's just that I once had a knee injury that pretty much kept me from all physical activity. All the trainers in the world won't do any good, if Perriman's knee is uncooperative. I guess there are no reports on his rehab protocol so far. Wonder why it's being kept secret like that.
