  1. Thanks for the break down Joey, very informative. So in other words he just needs to sell his routes better: bait the DB and keep him guessing. Hopefully he'll take well to coaching, if so Engram and Smitty are the guys for the job. Man, I can't wait for video updates from camp!! How about his weight, am I the only one who'd like for him to get to a neat 220lbs as long as it doesn't affect his athleticism and agility.
  2. How much weight, if any, do you think Breshad will add in the NFL?
  3. Is there any footage of his drops that I can check out? All the tape I've seen so far shows a natural hands catcher. In fact, the only drop I remember seeing was the over-the-shoulder against ECU I believe. It sounds like quite a few people on here expect him to drop 80% of his targets. Until proven otherwise I say his hands are pretty much a non-issue, what I'm more eager to see is the development of his route running. It certainly would be nice to have a possible future 80-100 rec/1300-1500 yards/10-15 TD receiver in our flock.
  4. As many have said, Perriman will be able to do what Torrey did: So even if he doesn't turn into an absolute beast and produces 50-60 rec/800-1000 yard seasons, I still wouldn't consider that a total bust for a late first rounder. I believe this to be his floor, the dude is 21 years old and in a couple of years I think we have a "stallion" on our hands like DeCosta referred to him as.
  5. Just saw his "intro" with Garreth Downing, what a cool, mature kid at 20 years of age! Very exited with this pick, also he looks a little like Corey Taylor from Slipknot #FYI #GORAVENS
  6. A couple newbie questions for you: You say he runs the full route tree, still he is supposedly a very raw route runner/bad route runner according to various sources. Is it just that his routes need to be tighter, smoother? And another thing I've been puzzling over. How come an athlete who's been playing football for most his life wouldn't be able to run the full route tree? (E.g. Are some receivers unable to turn left like Derek Zoolander )
  7. Why would they do that? The easiest, least risky decision for them would be to just trade out of the first round and call it a day. This draft pick to me, says that they have confidence in Perriman. They have revealed he was 14/15 on their board and they draft a WR in the first round despite poor track record doing so. If Oz, DeCosta and Co. weren't confident in this pick, they would not have made it imo. Simple as that. This 21 year old kid will start out at Torrey's level and go up from there. He had garbage throwing his way in college, Joe will have a field day with this kid.
  8. It's not much to go by, but @ 0:26 he really seems to sink his hips nicely and transition out of his break smoothly before plucking the ball nicely. Does anyone have more recent footage of his pro day etc.?
  9. If that's what he intended, then I think he hurt his stock instead of boosting it. I asked earlier if you think Breshad would add a little weight during his first couple of seasons in the league. I wouldn't mind seeing him at a neat 6'2 220lbs, so long as his athletic gifts don't suffer of course. That would make him similar to Dez size wise, only faster
  10. That's flippin' awesome, god I love Smith Sr. Let's groom this 21 year old pup into a straight up beast!! He definitely has a chance to break Ravens rookie WR records. How do you think his stats will pan out at the end of the year?
  11. What's the deal with ALL OF THESE HORRIFIC DROPS? On all the tape I've seen (Draft breakdown + highlights) he plucks the ball beatifully out of the air, and never let's it into his body. Most of the drops seems to be due to poorly placed throws and perhaps mis-timing between him an the QB. Where is the tape showing him being wide open, ball on the mark and him making a head scratching drop? I'd be really interested to see that. I think he needs some work on selling his routes along with more suddeness out of his breaks. If he takes care of that (with the help of Engram, SSS, Trestman... and oh yeah his father who played in the league for a decade) I think Flacco will supply the ball on the numbers so he doesn't have to contort in order to get near it. I was iffy and uncertain at first, but I'm actually becoming quite stoked. I hope he develops nicely. Speaking of developing, do you think he'll add weight due to nfl weight training and all that. I like 6'2 220lbs better on paper, just looks more neat than 212
  12. Ozzie knows what's up, he's been slingin' as the leagues best GM for ages. Calm down people! I could understand your worry if we were Browns fans, but we're not. Wenning is likely incompetent, and I would rather trust Oz and in-house personel than internet GM's "praising" Keith. Give the man some credit.
  13. Please explain this to me, I've always wondered about this. It is beyond me how a 6'5 250 lbs man is unable to block. Is it that his technique is rubbish, is his heart not there, is he soft? I imagine being labeled "unable to block" as a big TE, would be emasculating and a blow to the ego. So why doesn't he fix his blocking?
  14. Alright, but is he worth spending 40 million on? Big bucks that would likely have made a lot of the recent signings impossible. I think the team is much better off resigning our guys and turning the page on Torrey Smith as our "#1" WR. I hope Ozzie takes a WR in the first round and knocks it out of the park.
  15. Also if you could have Moore for the vet minimum compared to 8 million a year for Torrey? Besides, Moore has dealt with awful QB's his entire career. Who's to say he wouldn't become an effective deep threat in Baltimore (no flac, I'm legitimately interested)?
  16. I gathered as much, although you kinda included all currently available FA's right? Imo Torrey is not superior to Jennings or Denarius Moore (similar type of wr). Torrey clearly got overpaid in FA and I'm happy for him. He is a good dude and is now financially set for life. I think Denarius Moore would be able to replicate a similar role to Torrey. And at the fraction of the money Torrey received (Devin Smith, Dorsett etc. might also be capable). As for Daniels, I would assume a young, receiving TE such as Housler would be able to replicate Owen's 2014 stats (48 rec, 527 yds, 4 TD). Those aren't mindblowing stats, and he produced similar catches and yards in 2012 and 2013. Pirate88 could probably chime in here. Then there's the fact that we have a new OC this year who maybe doesn't rely as much on TE's, as Kubiak is renowned for. I don't know, I'm still new to this game (been following Ravens since 2010). I just think Ozzie knows what's up, he has proven so on more occasions than not. Come to think of it, Ozzie is a superior GM imo.
  17. So now Torrey and Daniels are superior players? Not seeing that. Had Daniels caught that ball that hit him in the hands in the end zone we might have been drafting at 32 this year. Same goes for the last play to Torrey, catch or break up. Those two plays were anything but superior. There's no way for us, "internet GM's", to realistically assess these situations imo. That said, I would love Denarius and Housler and then Parker/Strong in the first. Would be fun to watch. Ozzie knows what he's doing. He remains calm and collected, while lots of other GM's lose their cool and desperately overpay whoever is available on the market (e.g. Browns, Dolphins, Jags....)
  18. I see where you're going with this, and I think the Ravens already have an "aura" of "thugness". Partly attributed to Ray Lewis and Ray Rice I would imagine, perhaps the general image of the city of Baltimore has also rubbed off. I actually don't mind us being a hard nosed, bad boys - BUT I hope the Ravens' image never become similar to that of the Patriots. Rings or not - they cheat, whine (Brady), bend rules, get away with penalties, have rules "made to accomodate them" etc. Most unsympathetic team in sports imo, good time but I absolutely cannot stand them! The Ravens might have some baggage, but at least they conduct themselves honorably on the field. I really hope the AFC east grows stronger this year, and Brady starts frowning a whole lot more. Nothing makes me happier than watching him on the sideline with his head in his hands
  19. Let's get Denarius, and then move up for Parker in the first.
  20. Make all us doubters eat crow Matt, please! And then kick us when we're lying down.
  21. Highlights obviously don't tell the whole story, but these aren't too shabby! Pair that with a burner in the second round (Dorsett, Lockett, Agholor perhaps), and I think we're good with the rest of the WR corp. That would allow us to go DB/Pass rush/BPA in the first round.
  22. -Get Stills; a 4th or 5th rounder, what do you reckon? -Get Housler/Chandler -Get Parker/Strong in the first round I would be satisfied with that receiving core.
  23. What would a realistic deal with Bowe/Britt look like? 4 years 15-16 mill?
  24. AJ is off the market, heading to Indy. Are Bowe and Britt our most realistic options now?
  25. Copenhagen, Denmark - where the Ravens also are unappreciated underdogs. Seems to be a universal theme. Just witnessed my first two live football games this past season. One of them TEN@BAL, it was a fantastic experience! Definately not that last time I visit M&T and Baltimore, hopefully I can catch a Belicheat/CryBrady loss on our turf before he/they retire(s)!
