  1. Only Boyle and Wagner are day 3 picks that are currently contributing.

Also I'm pretty sure Walker is terrible because they played Wright before him.

It doesn't matter where they were picked or how they got here, what matters is we have young guys who have talent and are contributing.  Buck Allen is contributing and Darren Waller is one of our best special teams players.  Z-Smith is getting a lot of snaps due to Suggs being out, but he is contributing and getting better.  Walker has not shown anything, but he has great measurable and athleticism so hopefully with some coaching and development he can become a contributor down the road

  2. I don't think there is much talent to develop

I disagree.  Guys like Buck Allen, Maxx Williams, Nick Boyle and Darren Waller on offense need more time and could become big time contributors for us in the near future.  On defense we have youngsters like Jernigan, Guy, Williams (already a stud but could improve), Mosley, Art Brown, Z-Smith, Walker and Brooks.  All of these guys were drafted or brought in here within the last 3 years and all of them have roles on this team as we speak except Brown and Walker.  I think we have talent, but we definitely need to add more this offseason and hopefully these guys continue to get better

  3. Guy wanted to retire to spend time with his kids, I'm ok with him doing that.

If he retires so be it, he has earned it and deserves all the praise and respect he gets.  If he does decide to come back though, I will be very excited and appreciative of his sacrifice for this team.  He would almost certainly be used in a lesser role next year and would probably be given a lot of days off during the offseason (especially for his wife's birthday).  Nonetheless I watch each game with the understanding that this will be his last year.

  4. Jamison Hensley is reporting that he thinks Steve Smith is reconsidering his retirement plans.  This is all speculation on Hensley's part, but nonetheless this would be great for our team if he returned next year.  If he indeed does return, I still think we go out and get a free agent and draft a receiver high in the draft (Rounds 1-3).  Its a pipedream at this point, but the fact Hensley even reported it gives the idea hope.

  5. I wouldn't want to invest too much in him either. It's sad that he has to get into so many stupid incidents. He's only 26 years old and just 2 years ago was looked at as a top 5 pass rusher in the league. Now we're saying he's not worth more than the minimum. If I were Ozzie/Harbaugh,I'd almost be willing to go as high 1 year/$2M just to see if we could bring back 2011/2012 Aldon. That would be monstrous with Suggs,Doom,Jernigan and maybe Bosa(I think we're that bad and I'm rooting for that top pick).

As great as Aldon Smith was I can not see a scenario where we even look at him.  Once his court hearings are finished there is a real possibility that he is suspended for all of 2016 if not longer.  The dude is like Gordon, they have to much talent but continue to waste it away on stupid mistakes.  I do not think there is room for someone like him on our team, I would expect us to grab 2 pass rushers in this years draft.  We should have around 11-12 picks total in the draft so we should have a lot of assets to move around the draft.

  6. Who would you like to see come in and rebuild this defense? Herm Edwards,Pagano, a Shottenheimer, is Nolan still around?

Nolan would be a choice, but there are pretty good options that may become available this offseason.  Pagano, Pettine and Bradley could all be fired this offseason, they would be good options.  Ray Horton is an option, he is currently Tennessee's defensive coordinator.  Jim Schwartz is also a viable candidate, he has predominately run a 4-3 defense but that is not a deal breaker as every candidate should be considered.  As a fan I would want Pagano or Horton first before we consider anyone else

  7. The only play I can really think of that didn't make sense by Pees was when there was no safety help to watch out for Torrey Smith but other than that it's hard to really blame The 49ers game on him.

I can think of a few others.  Bruce Miller continually rolled out and was uncovered numerous times for big gains.  Judging by the alignment and who blitzed and who didn't it looked like Pees did not account for Miller in his play call amongst other blunders

    1

  8. Id really like to know who made the call to blitz Kaepernick with Shareece Wright having one-on-one coverage with Torrey and no safety help. Either there was some mis-communication, or that was a terrible play call in general.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw both safeties were up at the line of scrimmage.  Hill and Lewis looked like linebackers they were that close to the line

  9. Honestly, I've been thinking and I'd almost be willing to see if we can get Jernigan to slim down like McPhee and try to be an OLB. He's been inconsistent at DT and may be better just going after the ball as a pass rusher and set the edge.

I don't think that is something we should consider.  Jernigan is an asset on our defensive line and has already slimmed down to roughly 300 lbs.  How much more do you want to ask him to drop?  To fix our problem we need to draft someone that fits the position.  Floyd, Jenkins, Lawson and others in this years draft would be much better options.

  10.

    Things that need to happen:

    • Play Arthur Brown
    • Play Tray Walker
    • Play Charles James
    • Play Terrance Brooks
    • Continue playing Gillmore, Boyle, and Williams.
    • Find out if Perriman is still "blessed"

Agree with all that.  Id also like to see KLM, Waller and Givens get more time.  The coaching staff continues to walk on the line of insanity by trotting Marlon Brown out there in 3-wide sets.  I wouldn't bench Smith and Mosley necessarily, but give them breathers with Brown and allow him to come in and rush the passer from time to time.  He has to be better at that then Upshaw or McClellan, doesn't he?

  11. Honestly, who is Dean Pees inspiring to do better. The players are playing worse now than last year. They know its a flawed scheme, and flawed leadership....throw your players under the bus Dean

If Pees still has a job here after the bye week (assuming we continue to spiral downwards defensively) then I will be utterly shocked.  Miami came out inspired against Tennessee with their new coaching staff and blew them out.  Not saying that was because of the firing of Philbin and Coyle, but it certainly didn't hurt the team in that game.  Lucky for us it looks like Pagano is coaching himself right back to being a defensive coordinator or position coach.  Pees may last the season, but if someone like Pagano, Pettine or Horton are available this offseason then Pees should be given his walking papers.

  12. Why did Ozzie draft Tray Walker. I hated that pick from the get go. Tray can't see the field in our terrible terrible terrible secondary because he sucks

I am about done with the "small school" prospects.  Brandon Williams has worked out great for us recently from a small school, but Tray Walker and Robert Myers to me were two completely wasted picks last year.  I don't know how we passed on bigger known prospects like Diggs, Jarrett or Quandre Diggs to draft two guys who the FO seems like they knew they would not see the field this year.  Sometimes I feel like the FO overthinks players or almost outsmarts themselves with some of these selections.  I love Ozzie and this whole organization but in 2016 I would like to see some impact players taken in positions that we need them

  13. ANOTHER admission from Flacco today. why am I not surprised?

(Since Making a Flacco thread is considered spamming right now I'll just leave this here)

Ask yourself honestly, has Flacco improved AT ALL from his 2010 form? Ask yourself honestly,When the team struggles is he on the sideline talking to his WR's? Looking at the playbook? Nope. He's just sitting alone or laughing. I use to not worry about it but his NON CHALANT attitude in the last minute of the niners game was just awful.(walking). He's not a competitor like Wilson, rivers, Manning, Brady or even lower teir QB's like Dalton.

I use to be a Flacco defender but let's not sugar coat it. He has sucked. Throws off the back foot too much, manages to over throw and under throw WR's to no end, And STUPID picks are becoming his staple. And I don't care how our WR's are, the throws Flacco has thrown this season and MOST of the throws against the niners were just embarrassing. With his contract in need of restructuring and his agent being a professional jerk there's no doubt this will be a drawn out affair. If we pay him what he deserves(nowhere near what he's getting NOW) Joe and the agent won't accept it; leaving a MASSIVE cap hit. If this plays out that way I honestly have NO issue with trading him away.

if you look from the outside its obvious that Flacco stopped improving after 2010 and has been making dumber and dumber mistakes to the point where it looks like he's a rookie. He just isn't a good regular season QB and if you aren't good for 16 games you should probably be replaced. Am I just exgaggerating or what?

I think you are exaggerating a little bit, but not that much.  Flacco has improved over the years I believe, but there is no doubt he needs talent around him to succeed.  I think the idea of him making players better has sailed and we need to get him better talent on the offensive side.  I may be in the minority but I love Flacco's attitude and demeanor, because you know when the games are tough and on the line he usually comes through.  This year is an anomaly and a lot of things are going bad that usually wont, but Flacco should be our starting QB for the next 5-7 years, if not for the fact it is unbelievably hard to find a competent one.  Id cut Flacco some slack, because when he has talent around him like last postseason, I would not want any other QB

  14. Good: SSS, Forsett, Gilmore, O-line (except for jogging on the final drive), Jeremy Ross and the run defense

Bad: Flacco having to press in order to keep up.  Kamar Aiken and the pass rush

Ugly:  Dean Pees play calling and gameplan, MARLON BROWN (how has Butler not replaced him yet?), SHAREECE WRIGHT and the entire pass defense, Courtney Upshaw on pass rushing and most importantly the teams desire and passion

  15. ehh I'm not giving up on jimmy yet, he's coming off a lisfranc which nearly always leads to a down season, and Gipson would not provide the same presence as Ramsey could, the difference between a good FS and a truly elite FS is huge, it tea your whole defense together and makes qbs and wr's scared, it allows corners to play aggressive, it keeps the qb second guessing allowing pass rush to work, it is just such a huge advantage having a truly elite guy back there, rather than a guy who just won't give up a deep ball

I am not giving up on Jimmy, but him paired with Hargreaves would be a top 5 cornerback duo in the league in due time.  Ramsey would be an excellent pick and has the potential to be an excellent player, but I would prefer Hargreaves over him.  It doesn't mean much though, probably just personal preference.  Either way, we need defensive help badly and if Ramsey is the pick then I will fully support him and be thrilled he Is a Raven.

  16. FS is still a bigger weakness than corner and Ramsey is a generational talent. And yea jaylon smith is a great player but a bad fit in my eyes, we can't afford to spend such a high pick on something like that. We can immediately fix most of our secondary woes with Ramsey, we can immediately fix our pass rush with nkemdiche or bosa, but drafting jaylon smith does what? just convinces offenses to continue throwing deep against us.

I agree Ramsey is the real deal, but truthfully I like Hargreaves better as a fit for our team.  I would not at all be upset if we got Ramsey, I would actually be ecstatic, but finding a shut down corner is necessary in today's NFL.  Also, I am hoping and praying that we sign Gipson as our free safety and then go Hargreaves in the first.  No guarantee it would work out that way but we definitely do need a Free Safety as well as a starting corner anyway you slice it

  17. he couldn't play OLB for us, and we don't do well with converting 4-3 OLBs to 3-4 ILBs, our ILBs can't be undersized and jaylon smith is, plus he is gonna be a top 10 pick and selecting an ILB who may struggle in our system would be stagnating in our defense when considering how bad the back end and the pass rush looks. Passing up on superior talents at many of our weak spots for an ILB would be a straight up blown pick.

I agree with that, although I love Smith's covering ability.  That is something our linebackers have struggled with this year.  I think there are only 3 positions we should really go and that's corner, rusher and wide receiver in that order IMO

    0

  18. After watching yesterday's game, If Hargreaves or Ramsey are available I highly doubt we pass on either of those guys.  Hargreaves has the ability to be a shut down corner for us and could be our #1 guy. Ramsey would mostly be used as a FS who can cover and make plays.

What do you guys think of Jaylon Smith for us?  I think he could play ILB or OLB for us and possibly replace Daryl Smith if we picked him

  19. There is no scheme on this planet that doesn't require MLBs in a 3-4 defense to cover RBs or TEs. Not one.

Changing the coordinator will not in any way change that.

I understand that, but last year no one was complaining about how he covered guys.  He can cover, he had a good pass breakup on Boldin yesterday.  He has to be put into positions to cover guys, not have to sprint across the entire formation to cover one of the fastest guys in the 2015 draft.  No linebacker in the league could have covered that play from the Browns game, I agree he needs to improve but Mosley is no where near the top of our list of problems.

  20. At some point, people need to stop questioning the coaching decisions and begin to question the perceived talent, on this team. Because we have guys that either played way over their head, in the past or are just not doing very well this year.

Wagner, Forsett, Flacco, Osemele, Jernigan, Dumervil, Upshaw, D. Smith, Mosley, J Smith have all seemed to of regressed. It doesn't help when almost every guy the FO has brought in has been a complete disaster. Losing Kendrick Lewis isn't that big of a deal because he literally did nothing to deserve his starting position to begin with.

I am not defending everyone, but Forsett is playing well this year even against stacked boxes.  Mosley is being asked to cover speed running backs like Duke Johnson and people wonder why he is getting burned.  In Jimmy and Dumveril's case, they both are good and playing well but they don't have anyone opposite of them to help them.  Dumveril is our ONLY pass rusher, teams just double him and leave Upshaw on the other side standing there.  This team Is not very good, but there is a ton of talent on this team and until Pees is fired and the replacement stinks I will not believe anything different.

  21. We agree on Brown.  Im all for bringing in Butler, thats why i was asking about him.  Ive been preaching the vet WR for some time now, im sticking with my gut in Vjax, Garcon, R.White

Out of those 3 I would prefer Garcon, he knows how to get open and can line up anywhere on the field.  Its a dream at this point but a wide receiver depth chart next year of Garcon, Perriman, High Draft Pick, Campanaro, Waller and Givens/Aiken or Draft Pick would be much better then what we have now.

    1

  22. We need to get the young Wrs in there and see what they can do.  I know a lot of people on here think Aiken is in our future, Im not a fan but hes on pace for 720 yards and 5TDs, i guess thats ok #2 stats.

I think MBrown should be gone, i just see nothing from a guy that is 6'5, one year wonder?

I like Ross a lot, i want to see him get more in the return game for sure

    Where is Jermey Butler?

Camp- I think the FO gives him one more year

Marlon Brown is awful and should be cut now in favor of Jeremy Butler.  What has Brown done so far that Butler could not do?  Aiken should be our 5th or 6th wideout, not our #2.  Next year I expect them to bring in a veteran and atleast 1 high draft pick if not 2 at wide receiver.  Campanaro is good and its unfortunate he has gotten hurt a lot, I think he deserves one more year.

  23. I'm going to keep saying this....I think Art Brown and on a lesser note Matt Elam are a victim of pees. Elam never should have been a first round pick but damn he's not a slot corner pees. I understand the injuries that year but in no way shape or form that our strong safety should have been covering wr you're asking for too much. Elam should have been a box safety primarily used to sniff out screens and blitz. They really asked too much of the kid....

Art brown I seriously am dumbfounded how we can't at least use him as a rusher. We have this ultra athletic LB and we can't do anything with him? Not even rush the passer? A real DC would've taken advantage of his speed and use him Where he can play, he's a 2nd round pick and was dominate in college. I just refuse to believe he lost all of that talent to where he can't get into a game in his career no way.

Brooks is another speed guy we can't seem to do anything with. Another talent in college. All of a sudden bad in baltimore.. All of this falls on peas IMO. I don't want to make this about pees but he has to go in order to kickstart the youth movement. I have a feeling these players wouldn't look half as bad in a new scheme

I want to see Arthur Brown on the field more this season, at 1-5 getting him valuable game reps could not hurt.  Pees would rather go with McClellan as a rusher then Brown?  Brooks was inactive yesterday, but I think moving forward they will give him more reps especially with Lewis going down yesterday.  Harbaugh touched on it yesterday that our coaches are not putting players in position to make plays and I believe that was a direct shot to Pees.
