  1. If my math is right cutting Webb would result in 6 million of dead money. I hate to say it but once they restructured and he took a pay cut last year, he may survive another season with us. The only way he doesn't is if he gets seriously hurt, but his play has not been that bad this year. Canty is definitely gone and Daryl Smith is a good possibility. If SSS and Pitta retire I believe we wills till owe them a little money also. Our cap situation should be pretty good with all the dead money coming back and a Flacco extension though
  2. Its reasonable to assume a few of those guys will play Sunday. I am wondering why we still hang on to Canty. I imagine Urban will take his spot at the earliest possible time. Id expect Webb, Brooks, Taliaferro, Forsett, Dumervil, Yanda and Givens to play. But that's just me
  3. Sorry I did not intend for it to sound like that. I was trying to say I would like it more if they went and got a good young corner in free agency and addressed the free safety position in the draft, using Ramsey as the choice because he is most likely a top 15 pick. I agree we should not build our offseason that way, it will be interesting to see which direction we go in Free Agency because we should have some flexibility. If we end up getting Weddle and Hargreaves in the draft, well then Id be pretty excited and thrilled about that just as much as I would be signing Hayward or Jenkins and getting Ramsey in the draft
  4. Webb, Brooks, Forsett, Taliaferro, Canty, Yanda, Givens, Waller, Perriman and Dumervil all are not practicing today. I really hope a lot of these guys return to practice tomorrow. Thankfully SSS and Gilmore returned today though
  5. I guess it will all depend who becomes available and what type of money they are commanding. Obviously a big factor is also where we wind up picking in the draft. Personally I would rather sign a younger corner like Jenkins or Hayward in free agency and go and try and get Jalen Ramsey in the first round to be our FS. Its way to early to tell, but I really hope we are more aggressive in free agency and if we land Eric Weddle then Ill be excited nonetheless
  6. Id love Eric Weddle, but he will be 31 years old by the start of next season and will command a big contract. Typically those are not the guys we go out and spend big on. Terrence Brooks should get more time as the season goes on, so hopefully he turns into our starting FS. We could target a corner in free agency though, maybe someone like Janoris Jenkins or Casey Hayward instead. Then spend our first round pick on a pass rusher, wide receiver or maybe even cornerback
  7. Freeney was signed by the Cardinals today. One guy I thought we would look at would be Steven Means. I guess he was not at all what Ozzie and Harbaugh led us to believe this offseason
  8. I am still a believer that we will get this team turned around that they finish he season and are respectable. The offense will benefit getting SSS and Gilmore back soon and hopefully Perriman and Pitta later on. The defense has some fresh bodies at cornerback and hopefully Urban is able to add to our pass rush. Some way or another the defense will step up, atleast I hope they do
  9. I don't think we lose to the Browns twice in a season, but anything can happen. If Perriman, Pitta and Urban can all come back after the bye week I think we have a good shot at 8-8 or 9-7. Urban's pass rush ability alone will help this defense out a lot
  10. Maybe they know that his injury is not serious and that he will play on Sunday
  11. All it may take is one big play, one guy to make a game changing type play and our team's confidence and season could turn around. I would not lose any hope until we are mathematically out of the playoff race. Ross, James, Jackson and Wright are all desperate for a chance to prove themselves, maybe they will all play well and help turn this around
  12. I am assuming Melvin will be on the practice squad if no one else picks him up. He struggled badly against Cincy so hopefully no one picks him up
  13. He is still very productive and should be for a few more seasons. No way we move him unless someone gives up a 1st or 2nd round pick
  14. I like Monachino as well for an in-season replacement. Chris Hewitt being inexperienced is a huge problem in my eyes with our DB's. I know it was mentioned before, but it would be cool if they looked into bringing Ed Reed on as the defensive backs coach or defensive consultant. Injuries did hurt us all year but a change may be necessary, if for nothing else then to see if Monachino, Brooks or Martinadale could be our future D-coordinator.
  15. Not that I want to look ahead to the offseason, but two guys who I think could really help our team that we should target are Marvin Jones and Sean Spence. Both guys are from division rivals and SHOULD be in our price range. Jones is big and uses his body well, he also possesses good speed to get downfield. Spence is fast and the Steelers use him in coverage a lot. He could slot in next to Mosley next year and be the best coverage linebacker on our roster
  16. I agree 100%, unfortunately it looks like Pees being fired is going to have to come from Steve or Ozzie. Harbaugh is very loyal and for some reason still believes in Pees, atleast that what he made me believe at his press conference yesterday
  17. I see us going pass rusher, corner or wide receiver in the first round. Obviously anything can happen until then but our #1 priority should be to get a dominant pass rusher, preferably from that OLB spot. There will be good corners available in rounds 2-4. The only two wide receivers I would consider right now drafting high are Treadwell and Thomas. I would be shocked if we didn't draft defense in the first 2 rounds with how badly we are lacking playmakers on that side of the ball
  18. I think we have playmakers, they are just all hurt at the moment. If we had good depth we could mask some of those injuries, but having Babin and Upshaw fill in for Dumervil and Suggs is a joke. SSS is awesome, but when he is hurt we have no one else. Monroe went down and we had to rely on an undrafted rookie at Left Tackle. Potentially picking high in the draft this year will be good for our team, they can finally add playmakers who either will start or provide great depth.
  19. I agree. It still baffles me how guys can line up off-sides on defense when they are right at the ball. I will never understand how someone can do that, complete lack of concentration and focus That seems a bit drastic with Ozzie stepping down. We have the ability to have a quick turnaround similar to last year after our dismal 2013 season. Pieces are there and with a potential top 10 pick we should be able to restock fairly quickly, plus we will have cap room for the first time in a few seasons. Let go of Pees and bring in some new defensive talent and we will be much improved
  20. Two guys who I have watched this year and will be high picks that fit your description are Jaylon Smith and Leonard Floyd. Both guys are aggressive and play fast for their position. I would be ecstatic if we somehow landed Smith. He is smart (Notre Dame), great football IQ, is fast and very physical. Watch his highlights and its easy to imagine him fitting in as a Raven really well.
  21. Trading up is a good idea sometimes and sometimes its not. If we traded away a majority of our mid round picks for 1 impact guy then we would be stuck with the same problem we have now, we have no quality depth. We have drafted fairly well over the last few years considering we are always picking late in the rounds. I would not consider Perriman a bust until he plays games and we see what he is made of. Elam is still young and could turn into a decent backup for us, obviously not what you want from a first round pick but its something. Our team stinks right now but we have to try and find the positives, because there is a lot of good we can build on moving forward and hopefully have a quick turnaround for next season
  22. Its certainly possible. Any chance Harbaugh announces that Pees is fired today at his 4pm press conference? Harbaugh did not seem happy yesterday after the game
  23. Arrington apparently suffered a concussion yesterday also, don't know the severity of it but head injuries are always tricky to say when they will be healthy. We may be starting Tray Walker next week
  24. On top of that you wont hear Flacco complain one time or make excuses. He is an absolute professional and great QB who goes to battle everyday no matter who is there or not. In his press conferences it would be easy for him to use injuries or lack of talent around him as an excuse but he just goes out and competes each week
  25. Very unfortunate for him, he was given a chance here and seemed to be playing quite well. He is young, talented and still on his rookie deal. He will almost certainly be back next year and will be a valuable piece. Get well soon Will Davis!
