  1. I agree in that we need to give Taliaferro and Allen chances to develop. Allen has been bad this preseason but he is a rookie and needs time to get acclimated to the NFL. Jackson would probably cost more then the vet minimum and would take up reps that should go to Allen. To be honest, I would rather have Magee take a few carries early on instead of Jackson until Taliaferro comes back.
  2. Good observation. I am hoping that is all it is and it makes sense why they want him to avoid contact. I was excited for Means but it looks like he will be an IR move tomorrow at this rate. Jensen had a vicious looking head injury trying to make a block, he may be out a few weeks. Did anyone see if Guy or Tyson's injuries were serious?
  3. The bright side about Williams is that he atleast still out there getting reps and creating chemistry with Flacco. Its not smart to assume with injuries, but if he is out there (albeit with a red non-contact jersey) then he should be fine and they are taking a cautious approach with him. I agree that Webb and Campanaro need the reps, I would be more inclined to put Webb out there Thursday then Campanaro though. Campanaro played well this training camp/preseason when he was healthy, Webb has missed all the preseason so he needs it more.
  4. Webb, Campanaro, Monroe and Osemele all returned to practice today. Great news for their availability for week 1 in Denver. Melvin sat out as well as Jernigan. Did anyone see on Saturday if Melvin got injured? Maybe it is rest since he had a hamstring issue last week.
  5. Hopefully Webb can return and become a serviceable #2 corner for us this year. Thankfully early reporting on Jernigan is he did not suffer any serious damage to his knee, so that is good news. Guy and Tyson look like they should be alright too. Chris Greenwood's injury looked the most serious out of everyone, but he was probably going to be part of the first roster cuts tomorrow anyways. I am kind of hoping Ozzie attempts to sign Tim Jennings who was just cut by the Bears, does anyone else feel this way?
  6. A couple guys who I will be looking closely at tomorrow and how they play: 1.) Darren Waller- With Perriman and Campanaro both not playing this week, I hope to see Waller run with the first team quite often. 2.) Arthur Brown- He should have opportunities this week to make plays and show the coaches he can be reliable on special teams. I still think we only keep 4 ILB's this year due to other needs so Brown is clearly on the bubble. 3.) Rashaan Melvin- Returning to practice yesterday puts him on track to play, although he may not play a lot. I want to see how well he performs starting opposite of Smith. We could see that lineup week 1 in Denver. 4.) James Hurst- With Monroe out Hurst has a chance to play a ton at Left Tackle. With Monroe struggling and dealing with injuries last year and this preseason, it is not out of the question to think Hurst could be a LT option next year. 5,) Kapron Lewis-Moore- Terrible luck with injuries the past two years, but this is it in regards to him either making our team or being cut/PS. If he shows well tomorrow and moves around well I think the coaches could opt to keep him over someone like Tyson, if not then he is probably destined for the practice squad. Who does everyone else want to see tomorrow?
  7. Thanks for the clarification! You are right the, Tuesday should provide a lot of clarity on who it might be used on. I had high hopes for Urban this offseason so that's why I am leaning towards him. Plus I do not trust Canty, Tyson or KLM to provide the type of pass rush that Urban can from that end spot.
  8. It all depends on how the rest of the preseason shapes up. Its still about 10 days from final cutdowns and I think if you IR someone and don't want to expose them to waivers, you have to wait until September 5th or 6th to do that. Therefore, if no more injuries happen I think Urban should be the guy. I do like the idea of keeping him active though if he is progressing well and wont be out more then 4-5 weeks. I don't want to be a pessimist or anything, but maybe the coaches will look into using it on Perriman if he cannot get right. I hope I am wrong on that though and he is active for week 1.
  9. As of now I would want to use it on Urban. Its really only between Elam and Urban and if Brooks would not have come back as soon as he did I probably would have leaned towards using it on Elam. Urban was playing extremely well before he got hurt earlier in camp and if he can come back and give a mid season pass rush boost then I am all for it. When Urban went down they said a 8-12 week injury and it has already been about 3? This all is based on the assumption we use by week 1 and don't save it for in season.
  10. Heard Hurst, Jensen, Jacobs and Melvin all practiced today. That is good news in regards to Saturday. Should see an Oline of Hurst, Jensen, Zuttah, Yanda and Wagner. Melvin practicing is also an encouraging sign as I think he will be our starting outside corner opposite Smith come week 1 in Denver.
  11. I agree that McClellan should be the guy out. If they get reassurance from the doctors that Taliaferro will only miss week 1 or 2 then I think 2 running backs is enough, but it would still be risky because injuries can happen anytime. Magee definitely deserves a shot to be on the 53 or PS, so I agree there. I guess the real problem lies within the OLB/DL group. I see us keeping Canty, Williams, Jernigan, Davis, Guy and either KLM/Tyson for a total of 6. OLB being Suggs, Doom, Upshaw, Smith and Means. If Means gets healthy I think he sticks and if you keep 7 corners then I think we would lose Means. The question for me becomes, is Jackson better or more valuable then guys like Means, Jensen, McClellan or Trawick? Those are guys who are fighting for those last spots and I am not sure if I would take Jackson over any of them.
  12. If you keep 7 CBs then wide receiver or our defensive line depth may take a hit. Its concerning right now because of all the players who have been injured or nursing minor injuries. Keeping 2 rb's even if it is for only a game or two is very risky and I am not sure Harbaugh would do that. Facing the facts right now, our team is very beat up and if it continues to be that way then our FO/Harbaugh will have a very hard time picking this team. I think the one spot we could drop someone to make room for a 7th corner would be ILB. McClellan or Brown could be cut and we only keep 4
  13. Not necessarily but at this point we cannot afford to give a roster spot to someone who could not contribute on offense or defense. Jackson IMO has had more then his fair share of chances with us and he has not stayed healthy or played particularly well. Campanaro is a good receiver and would be our best punt returner option, but like you said his health is in question. For punt return I would honestly have a rotation of Camp, SSS, Vaughn or whoever else can do it because with injuries questioning our depth, I would rather have someone fair catch every punt and be able to contribute on offense/defense then trust Jackson to stay healthy and play well. My point is I am tired of Jackson taking up a spot, if injuries haunt us like last year I would feel better having Vaughn out there at corner then Jackson
  14. If the 53 man roster had to be set today, I do not think Jackson makes it. With Taliaferro's injury it becomes likely that we keep Magee on until he gets healthy. Harbaugh said Magee would get chances at kick returner, so maybe Saturday he does. Jackson gets hurt almost as frequently as Campanaro so really I wouldn't want either to be a returner. With that said I think Vaughn and Walker have both played better at corner then Jackson and if we keep 6 corners I really don't see Jackson making it. It is important, but I think a lot of people are putting to much emphasis on kick returner. In today's NFL our kick returner might return 1 kick a game or so and that's not even a guarantee with all the touchbacks.
  15. I agree it is a no brainer that you take the corner who is playing well over a guy like Jackson who is always injured and is not a very good corner when he is out there. Webb's inability to stay healthy is really concerning and I think it is time for us Ravens fans to accept the fact that he will never be a big time player again. Regardless if he is ready for week 1, I want to see Smith, Melvin and Arrington as our starting 3 corners. Walker, Webb and Vaughn should be backing them up. Vaughn is a veteran and has had starting experience so I expect him to edge out someone like Jackson. Plus I would not mind seeing Magee get reps at kick returner, especially if we decide to keep him until Taliaferro gets healthy
  16. That is true, but it is looking like most of our offensive line should be back except for KO. Yanda and Zuttah are fine and Wagner returned to practice yesterday. KO is the only injury on the line that is worth being concerned about at the moment, but I think with rest the next 3 weeks he should be ready for Denver. After our awful showing on Saturday, I want to see Flacco and our defense rebound.
  17. I really want to see a few guys run with the first team against the Redskins. They Are 1. Darren Waller: Campanaro probably wont play so more opportunities should be there for Waller to show his stuff with Flacco and the first team. 2. Rashaan Melvin: Webb will most likely be held out so Melvin should get the first crack at outside CB opposite of Smith 3. Z'darius Smith: Suggs is the last guy on the team that needs to play in this game. I would like to see Smith get snaps in Suggs place behind the first team defensive line. 4. Tray Walker: Smith should not have to play that much in this game (maybe 1 quarter), I would like to see Walker take his spot opposite of Melvin for a few snaps. 5. Nick Boyle/Maxx Williams: Both of these guys should see a lot of snaps with Flacco against the Redskins and I think they will perform well. 6. Arthur Brown: I know everyone will blast me for this one, but I really want to see what Brown can do with a fair amount of snaps with the first team. Daryl Smith does not need to play to much in this game so Brown should be able to see a lot of snaps next to Mosley. We have to find out what he has
  18. As long as Webb is injured I think Melvin deserves the shot to start outside opposite of Smith. There was talk of us using Arrington in a hybrid defensive back role since he took snaps at safety this preseason. Webb would be great in the slot if he can get healthy and Arrington can sub in and out with Webb and possibly Lewis? Lewis is an upgrade from Stewart/Miles last year, but he is no where near a top level safety so he could ultimately see his snaps reduced depending on how well Brooks plays and Arrington.
  19. I like the idea of putting Webb in the slot, as long as whoever is outside opposite of Smith can handle it. I really liked the way Walker and Vaughn played on Saturday. Our corner depth should be much better then last season, as long as Webb can get back to atleast 2013 Webb. Does anyone else feel good about Walker's potential? I am not expert or scout, but he seems to have good instincts and tackling ability for a rookie out of a small school. I believe he could actually see some time this year if Webb struggles. From everyone I have found he was held out as a precautionary measure. Hopefully it was nothing to do with his hamstring because apart from Smith Sr. Campanaro has been our only consistent weapon in camp/preseason
  20. Since training camp is officially ending today I figured I would release my ideal and hopefully correct 53-man roster projection. September 1st 15 guys have to go. QB: Flacco, Schaub (2) RB: Forsett, Taliaferro, Allen, Juice (4) WR: Smith Sr., Aiken, Perriman, Campanaro, Waller, Brown (6) TE: Gilmore, Williams, Boyle (3) OT: Monroe, Wagner, Hurst, Reid (4) OG/C: Yanda, Osemele, Zuttah, Urschel, Jensen (5) ST: Tucker, Koch, Cox (3) DL: Canty, Williams, Jernigan, Davis, Guy, KLM (6) OLB: Suggs, Dumervil, Upshaw, Smith, Means (5) ILB: Smith, Mosley, Orr, Brown (4) CB: Smith, Webb, Arrington, Melvin, Walker, Pointer (6) FS: Lewis, Brooks, Trawick (3) SS: Hill, Levine (2) Offensive Analysis: I think we try to squeeze Butler and Nelson on the practice squad. They either find a way to IR Myers or he takes Jensen's spot. Defensive Analysis: If Means gets healthy and keeps going I think we keep him over a guy like Tyson. McClellan gets beat out by Brown, but this could easily flip flop. My only semi surprise player to make it is Quinton Pointer over Jackson. We have given Jackson too many chances and he has not done much with any of them. KLM could be gone if he doesn't pick it up, then Tyson could work his way onto the roster. Either way, I think we IR-DFR Urban so whoever is the last lineman gets cut once Urban is healthy.
  21. I was excited about the Brown pick to, he has great speed for a ILB but seems to really struggle with instincts since he has arrived in the NFL. In 2014 I really wanted Beckham or Evans if they were to fall, but they didn't. My third choice would have been Haha Clinton-Dix, which wouldn't have been bad considering he had a good rookie year. In hindsight I am beyond thrilled we went BPA and got Mosley because if we had to rely on Brown or McClellan to start with Smith I am not sure we even make the playoffs last year. Mosley was that important to our defense last year, especially with all the injuries.
  22. I cant say I hate the guy but he is definitely frustrating to have on our team. I really am pulling for him to make this team, mainly because I am tired of McClellan. Brown needs to carve out a special teams role this year and improve, If not we will have to cut/trade him because I don't see us carrying 5 ILB this year with Means and Smith joining the OLB's.
  23. http://www.rotoworld.com/playernews/nfl/football/ It is on Rotoworld off of the PFT website. Jamison Hensley reported it on Twitter apparently. Nonetheless, it seems like it is inline with their "bone bruise/sprain" diagnosis from a little while ago. It just seems odd if it is true why Harbs said his MRI came back normal. He seems to be making progress so if he gets out there next week it wont matter anyways.
  24. Sorry my part is the bottom, my bad. Profootballtalk is now reporting that Perriman has a sprained PCL. If this is true then he may miss the entire preseason. I don't know what to believe anymore, everywhere reports something different and Harbs does not provide much on updates I am not sure of their depth chart at safety, but I do not think its good. Melvin White could be a potential target if it were to happen. Good size and has playing experience, albeit his play has not been great up to this point.
  25. It is worth considering for Ozzie. Waller has been impressing lately and so has Butler and Camp. I don't see how we can keep 7 receivers this year and Waller will absolutely get claimed if cut. I would look to trade either Butler or Brown for a late round pick, most likely Brown because he has proven himself to be a good #3 option.
