  1. We scored plenty in foxboro but many times the offense sputtered like Texans/jaguars. Torrey isn't nowhere near a complete WR. He does not play fast other than a straight line. He isn't sharp or sudden in routes and he gears down in breaks and cuts. He has no instincts for zones. Joe is a great deep thrower and led the league in pi calls before torrey even was drafted. The scoring in foxboro was on joe. He was consistently threading needles and making undrafted WRs play to their max as well as helped SS squeeze out another good season after his team didn't want him. Same with the TE Owen Daniels who everybody thought was no longer NFL quality. Ask patsie fans the respect they have for Joe. The Ravens don't really need a Dez or Demaryius although it would be nice!! They just need some more complete better side #2's and a good TE that are good route runners, play fast and snatch or attack the ball. There happens to be some very good WRs in free agency this off season that's undervalued from their sub par and in some cases terrible QBs. Rob Housler came into the NFL raw but very talented. He has learned from Fitzgerald and is a great route runner who plucks and attacks the ball. While he is 6'5 1/2 258lbs He also has WR speed and is great after the catch. Jermaine Gresham is as talented as Gronk but has been held back by sub a sub par QB who holds back AJ Green as well. Vernon Davis is likely a salary cap cut as well. Any one of these guys could rival Gronk as nfls best TE if they are catching from Joe Cool 2.0 and backed up by a dominant OLine like we have. If Monroe returns to form I believe its the best in the NFL that has a top10 LT and 3 players arguably the best at their position and a very solid Center. I dont wanna see Joes arm and a great OLine not maximized by lack of complete and consistent playmakers that run sharp routes and play fast and attack the football while having size. There are WR bargains as well from the same thing, bad QB play. I recently watched some of Crabtrees games especially vs Seattle. I came away surprised at his playspeed!! He is sharp and sudden in his breaks and elusive and physical after the catch. And he has great hands and attacks the ball the great athleticism and body control. He is also ultra competitive. He would have roasted Sherman many times if Kaepernick knew anything about timing or the cerebral side of playing QB. Kenny Britt is flat out awesome. He is mature and focused now and many coaches that play with or against him say he is very similar to Julio Jones in size and talent. He plays fast and runs sharp routes and has good hands and is very athletic and aggressive attacking the ball. He has ankle breaking moves for a big WR he also lays crushing blocks. At this point he just wants to play with a good QB and prove he is a #1WR. My opinion we sign a WR and TE and any of these players would have breakout and career years with Joe in our offense. We may even be able to add Denarius Moore as the second WR addition if he wants a One year $1mil prove himself on a real NFL team deal. Then after set on WR we could focus on a young explosive edge rusher and corners in the draft or more lineman.
  2. I was talking bout Jacoby Jones a June cut. Webb I think gets restructured for less $$ or cut. He has to know his value won't be much if he is cut even though he was good down the stretch. so he should agree to a paycut restructure that pays him more than he would get on the open market if he is flat out cut yet much more cap friendly for us and hopefully he is healthy. I think Suggs last season with the team will be 2015 as we likely draft a young edge rusher early this draft to learn under him. Either that or he takes a pay cut and becomes the #3 rotational edge rusher as he basically starts getting less snaps than the young player and reduced role or he retires. As long as Joe doesn't lose $$ I'm sure he restructures to reduce his cap #. After all he is used to winning. As long as an owner is willing to pay out the $$ then cap figures can be reduced and spread out. Osemele barring injury could be the best LG in the NFL next season and will cost. Yanda at 31-32 won't cost as much. Same with N'gata, at his age I think he restructures and even takes a pay cut at his age. Something like 3-4 years with a decent bonus up front and not much garunteed after that. Then He probably has another 2 years before he retires or has a reduced role. Or he could be cut altogether if Ravens land another good DT in round 2-3. Everybody is thinking WR in this draft but I see edge rusher then corner or edge rusher and DLine . This is an underwhelming Safety draft and That Elam pick is really hurting us!! Good news is we can get talented WRs/TEs at a bargain in FA like Housler Britt and Crabtree or a Vernon Davis once cut and focus on other positions in the draft.
  3. I forgot bout cutting a players before June and still designating it. I would prefer splitting his salary over a couple seasons than taking the whole hit all next season. Especially in a free agent season that's one of the best ever and loaded with value especially elite value talent at WR/TE due to bad QB play for players like Housler Britt Crabtree Gresham Moore and likely Vernon Davis cut. I never liked the Jacoby Jones signing. He got a big contract for a good playoff run and dancing with stars. I believed ha had a nice playoff run but wouldn't stay consistent. He never became anything playing opposite Andre Johnson. I never thought he was a starting WR and signing him hurt our cap space and handcuffed the progress of the passing game cuz they really thought they were fine at WR in 2013 with Torrey and Jacoby. Joe's 2013 season was no surprise with him forcing the ball to one trick subpar WRs. After cutting Boldin they should have aggressively pursued Deandre Hopkins who plays like a fast athletic Boldin. But they had confidence in Jacoby for some reason.
  4. I actually like Wenning. I think he could eventually be a starter in the NFL and not just a game manager. He has a better arm than Andy Daulton or Hoyer. He didn't have any NFL caliber WRs in college but was very accurate. He is at least as good as Andy Daulton. If Ravens upgrade the WRs/TEs in free agency I think Wenning could definitely score some points. I liked Mettenberger better and if he had to play I don't think the offense would have any problems once he got some experience. However I think Wenning could surprise everybody.
  5. I agree Jacoby is just taking up cap space. Any relief cutting him is worth it. They could restructure him as just a Returner then cut him next year so his cap hit isn't all in one year. I never liked signing him as a starting WR. I always thought he just caught lightning in a bottle during the championsip run. He couldn't even do anything opposite Andre Johnson in his prime. The most important player to bring back is Will Hill. Real good complete safety's are tough to find. And with an offseason where he can participate in practices and conditioning he should be even better. He has legit all pro talent at FS or SS. Mcphee I think is just above average, a good player but nothing special. The $6-7mil a year he could cost could be put to better use with some impact WRs\TEs or even corner or safety. I would like to draft a good explosive speed edge rusher to be the guy to learn from Suggs and Dumervil like Beasley or Harold/Dupree. Mcphee isn't an elite edge crusher and resigning him takes up cap space during a great market for very talented WRs/TEs who will be bargains due to bad QBs throwing to them while there is still going to be a need for a dynamic edge rusher as Suggs n Dumervil are over 30. Sign Mcphee and we still need another dynamic edge rusher anyways cuz Mcphee isnt that guy. Better to draft the #3 edge rusher to rotate in who will be far more explosive than Mcphee and be that pro bowl 15 sack player once Suggs gets to old.
  6. . Yep yep I would have!! Just my opinion, Mettenberger was the best QB in that draft and one of best pure arms you will find. Actually a very similar skill set to Joe Flacco. He has an elite arm and throws 25 yards like a laser with accuracy and natural confidence that many QBs show on 10 yard short timing throws. Mettenberger is awesome, I don't know what scouts were looking at in last years draftdraft rating qbs like Bortles or Manziel better than him although they could be great qbs but Mettenberger is a rare talent. He likely could have brought us as much as 2 #1 draft picks or at least a #1. John Urschel has played well but I wouldn't call him a steal for being serviceable. Many serviceable guards and centers come in the middle rounds. Now if he wins the center job and is mentioned as one of the best centers in the league then that is a steal. If he wins the center job and outplays our starter I would call him a great pick but to be a steal he would have to be one of the 10 best centers in the NFL but not just for being a solid starter. He likely would have been available with the Wenning pickpick if we drafted Mettenberger. If not there was still Corey Linsley they could have drafted who has been a very solid center. They gave rookie center award to Stork but I think Linsley is better. Mettenberger in my opinion is going to be compared to Brady eventually as a Round6 pro bowl QB and total steal maybe as early as next year if they get him another good WR. As a matter of fact cuz of Mettenberger I believe that is the team we will be dueling with in the AFCCG in a couple seasons as long as we have a good upcoming draft. The Titans would have to be nuts to not give him a chance as the starter. If a team out there needs a QB and the Titans have any thoughts of drafting another QB they may wanna call Tennessee and ask what they want for Mettenberger!! Rex Ryan should do so. So yeah I would have wanted Mettenberger with that pick in .03 seconds. Then drafted Urschel or Linsley with next pick. Actually last year was an underrated and great draft for QBs!! Many of the Qbs that went in rounds2-6 I would have drafted before any of the 2011 Round1 QBs other than Newton. I like Wennings QB skills better than all of the 2011 class except Newton and maybe Kaepernick. I hear Mariota and Winston are great prospects but haven't watched them yet.
  7. Maybe in production but talent Housler is right there. He had some big games before palmer got injured. Watch his tape the dude is talented. He is over 250 lbs now and plays as fast as many WRs and his run after catch is nuts forfor a 6'5 1/2 258 lb TE. He was raw when drafted but now really plucks the ball nicely. He is also a sharp route runner. He has been hurt by terrible QBs. I do like how Cameron is battle tested and could be a bargain as well due to his injuries. But Housler will be a total steal for what he will do with an elite QB. If I could pick I probably would take Cameron but Cameron is a popular player with QBs and coaches and probably will sign for more $$ than Veron Davis whom Is likely their top fa priority due to his complete skill set toughness and work ethic.
  8. I like Wenning but we should have drafted mettenberger. Dude is going to be great!! No big $$ on backup qbs
  9. I think Fitz isnt the same. And Rob Housler has similar talent to Jordan Cameron but more explosive. A non WR/TE I like is Daquan Bowers. He has elite talent but out of shape and lacks motivation on a terrible team. We could get him on vet minimum deal and get him in shape as he will follow the work ethic of other Ravens players. He will be motivated by Ravens winning atmosphere and lure of a big contract once he is in shape and playing well again. He has immense talent and after the college season was set to be #1 overall player drafted til he showed up at the combine out of shape and knee issues at the time. Once he takes conditioning and nutrition as part of his work ethic he could be a great player and steal.
  10. I totally agree. One strategy to identiy talented coaching candidates is to look at who impresses the big named coaches and experienced elite QBs. When a Peyton Manning who doesn't like coaches meddling with his offense, looks for help, input, ideas and knowledge its evident the guy impresses him. When an elite veteran qb and big name coach looks up to somebody it means a great mind has been impressed. Pretty hard to impress smart peoplepeople, powerful people and geniuses. If Einstein or General MacArthur were impressed by somebody, I would want him on my side. You have to look deep sometimes. Experienced Big name successful coaches are careful not to let anybody know who impresses him.
  11. I like Steve Mariucci a lot. Maybe he would like to come back to coaching and call plays and orchestrate an offense. He and Gruden are 2 of the best offensive schemers I have watched. Shame Jay Gruden is exiled 30 miles south
  12. Thank dude I haven't had chance to catch the news
  13. What's the deal with Kyle Shanahan? Obviously he is the best candidate. If he doesn't want it i think we should interview several dozen candidates familiar with the west coast/spread rythym offenses and find the next great offensive innovator. Interview WR coaches offensive line coaches qb coaches and the most brilliant college offensive coordinators. Just like with players and Hollywood and the corporate circuit there's undiscovered talent out there in coaching/scheming. Let's see this as an opportunity for the offense to put more time in together during their off time and outwork other teams and be in unrivaled sync. Didn't all that advanced strategy and timing start in Baltimore anyways??!! Unitas to Berry!! Flacco to Campanaro and whomever else the ravens sign, trade for or draft. This winter spring and summer Joe and his crew can spend more time together as they acclimate to the new offensive coach. I would like Isaac Bruce or Michael Irvin as WRs coach or even Torrey Holt. Then Kurt Warner or Dilfer as QB coach.
  14. Actually I believe you can protect a couple rookies on the PS. I was thinking same thing when I heard they were impressed. But I think Wenning is protected for a year.
  15. You can watch the dude play and see he won't get much better. A rare questionable pick for Oz n Decosta at the time and he hasn't lived up to first rd status for sure. He would possibly get cut this offseason if he were a Rd. 4 pick. First round safety should be plug n play. Decosta n Oz wanted to replace the end reed luxury so badly they broke the late round1 rule of best player available! The talk is the ravens really liked Johnathan Banks and Kiko Alonso but felt they could get Brown Banks or Alonso in mid RD2. Alonso is future all pro on par with Mosley. Anyways they reached for a safety in a poor safety draft. We really could have used Banks Saturday and Darryl Smith is nearing mid 30s. His play could slow down early as next year. Elam is a bust for a round3 pick much less first. Brooks looks more promising but no garuntees of becoming a good starter. Elam is terrible and not even the hitter he was touted as. After 2 seasons he isis clearly a bust. They lost focus trying to replace a first ballot HOF player and picked a lemon.
  16. Vinci really likes Wennings preseason play. Maybe Wenning for Sanu straight up. Sanu is an upper muddle class mans Dez Bryant. His talent is underappreciated and a best kept secret due to awful QB play. He is strong and attacks the football. He blocks with power and is a good fluid route runner. He is pretty much a faster more athletic Boldin. Cinci may go for it with Marvin Jones returning. Fans in Cinci are down on Sanu and not realizing its their QB. But The dude is awesome! He and Joe Cool would become one of best Combos in the NFL. 1200 yards and 12 TDs is very reasonable catching passes from Flacco in the Raven offense.
  17. Most those guys that never worked out had no talent to begin with but I get the point. Don't forget these guys are young and still have growing up to do. Some people don't grow up as fast. Very talented players often do work out. At least One or more from this bunch of Blackmon,Beckham-Green, Gordon or Lyerla will benefit from strong leadership and make a team and staff look like A Genius. Joe played a terrific game and routinely threw into tight windows to a shabby WR unit against a great secondary. He needs somebody that can make a play on a bad pass and help him outout like Boldin did on several occasions. Like Pitta can do if EVER HEALTHY. Doesn't have to be a Julio Jones but a Deandre Hopkins would be nice. The risk reward bargains just happen to caliber. Somebody whom routinely attacks the football and makes contested grabs. We aren't sure how many 1000 yard seasons Smith Sr has. The free agent WRs hitting the market are uninspiring. Drafting a WR in Round1 is risky. Many WRs with a #2 ceiling are over drafted every year. Better trade up to secure A Dez Bryant than overdraft another Mark Clayton. Maybe Marshal would like to play for a top QB for a change. When we beat the pats we had attack the ball catchers (Boldin Pitta) and won. They had Gronk this time and won. Other than that it was 2 good teams and well coached. I know they had good corners but we need that WR that even good corners need help with and could have made a play on that int. Justin Blackmon or younger Boldin and that pass was likely a TD!
  18. Yes they do but its only marijuana or whatever. Not a tough habit to kick when a $100million contract is bribing them. How many former players said they needed Demerol shots to get out of bed on Mondays. We are not the redskins, we have structure and leadership from coaches and vets alike and a winning atmosphere to help focus young players. Rolando McLain should e a lesson to us. We get the guy straightened out to play for the cowboys. We can have a couple characters on the team cuz we havehave strong coaching and dudes with character to mentor them and focus them on the will to win. Michael Irvin had his probs but WOW did he carry a winning Confident swagger that was contagious. Many other fans hated that we kept Ray Lewis but is there a better player/leader or cared more bout winning and had more of a contagious swagger and confidence. I'm not saying these guys are Irvin but we should at least check.
  19. I can't see resigning Torry although I like him. He is a #2-3 WR and we need at least a top end #2 who borderlines a #1. Blackmon could be a bargain. Browns could be ready to trade Gordon for a low#1 or #2. Beckham Green could be there at #26. Lyerla is another talented gamble. I also can't see signing Mcphee for the $6-7million year he will get. Better to go another $5mil n get Houston a dynamic game changer.
  20. What does everybody think of Justin blackmon? Great difference maker and maybe guys like Steve Smith Pitta and or Daniels can keep him straight and mentor him and be a big brother type. There is no WR we could get in FA or the draft anywhere close to his talent. Dude is a difference maker, a Dez Bryant talent. Beckham-Green is really talented but poses similar situation. However Not quite the talent of Blackmon but still a difference maker with pro bowl talent. Taking a chance on eithereither and trusting coaches and team leaders and veterans to mentor and guide one of them guys is only options for a top talent true#1 WR. Same can be said for Colt Lyerla who has Gronk talent if focused and actually is a smart guy who just made couple young player decisions.
