What holes does it look like we're actually trying to fill?
LT (Signed Monroe)
C (Mack was the backup plan, but I guess he's history now?)
WR#2 (Edelman(I don't like this one) Steve Smith (Love it) Where's Hakeem Nicks?
TE#2 (Pettigrew (Love it if he can stay healthy and we can use him right) Owen Daniels (Maybe)
ILB (Rolando McClain might be coming back so they don't plan on breaking the bank for Daryl Smith)
What does this tell me so far?
I believe the Ravens organization are very deep into turning our offense around completely. I believe their goal is to have the #1 Offense next year, unlikely and crazy to think about, but that's what the goal is supposed to be. After signing a mastermind at OC in Kubiak, bringing in a new QBs Coach (Dennison(Flacco always does better with a QBs coach and it makes it better that Dennison and Kubiak are best friends), a new RBs Coach in Hammock, a new WRs coach in Engram, a new TEs coach in Pariani, and keeping the same offensive line blocking scheme and coach in Castillo. Controversial or not, keeping a little continuity at OL will be good for our players, examples are Monroe and Castillo. Signing Pitta and Monroe to cap friendly deals and creating all that extra cap space make it so we can make a play for good WRs, TEs, and the OL.
I don't want us to forget though that having a run stopping ILB and DL can help pass rushers Terrell Suggs and Elvis Dumervil do their exciting part of the job and therefore help the offense by never making them catch up from behind. I think we should focus on the offense, I do, but please go and get some marquee players on defense as well!
Players I like for defense in free agency are Henry Melton and if Rolando McClain isn't an option bring back ILB Smith. If they wanted to shore up the defense even better they'd sign Melton and Jarius Byrd.
