How would Miami project higher than Pittsburgh if Miami won their head-to-head matchup?

If just Pitt and Miami are tied, Miami wins head to head. But, if 3 team tie (Pitt Miami and Denver) it goes by conference record, which I believe Pitt wins because 2 of their losses are to NFC teams (Eagles and Cowboys)

I don't know if we can stick a fork in the Dolphins. They get the Jets next week and the Jets seem to have thrown in the towel. Then they get the Bills, who did not appear to be prepared to play vs. PIT and got worked over ... and that was when they had hope of making the post season. Will they show up in week 16? Maybe, maybe not. Sure MIA will probably lose to NE, but that's possibly their only loss, which would put them at 10-6.

Who knows what Moore will bring. It is not as if Tannehill was lighting things up. Their success has been their D and Ajaya more than anything.

It would have been nice if ARZ would have not shot themselves in the foot 10 times to start that game. We sure could have used MIA dropping that one.

And there's no guarantee about the NE game either.  It depends if NE is still fighting for homefield or if they already have that wrapped up.

But, here's the bright side....We beat Pitt (and 2 of other 3) and win our division at 10-6.  Miami sneaks in at 10-6 (need Denver to fall to 9-7 because Pitt wins a 3-way tie) as a very weak 6th seed and we beat them down again in the first round of playoffs!

I agree, in fact I believe we hold the tie breaker over Denver and Tennesse at the moment, win this one and the next 2 of 3 and you're in. Drop this one and you're forced to win in Pitt.

I honestly have this as a must win.

Win this and all you have to do is beat Pitt, simple.

Not guaranteed, but pretty darn close.  Need 1 loss by Miami (@Jets, @Bills, vs.. Patriots) and 1 loss by Denver. (Patriots, @ Chiefs, Raiders)

Technically, we could still lose this one, the beat Eagles, Steelers, and Bengals and we would still win the division (but would have no margin for error).

What are you even doin here? Shouldve known you wouldnt honor your bet. According to you we weren't going to win more than 6 games so your already off there.

If I'm being completely honest I think our best shot is at a wildcard. I think we finish 9-7  and end up with a tie against Miami and Denver. Miami is now down tannehill and Denver has the toughest remaining schedule in the league. If we win tonight then all bets  are off and we just might win out- if not I think we beat Philly and Cincinnati. Question.. Doesn't a three way tie throw out the head to head win over Miami or is that only a three way tie within the division? I know its one or the other..

Either way if we finish at or above .500 I am very proud of this team after the 5 win season last year. It's gonna hurt like hell if we don't make it in but im gonna try to not even think about that right now. I just keep envisioning perriman foot coming down in bounds; tucker booting a 67 yard feild goal- and tavon knocking down that ball to OBJ.  We'd be sittin real pretty right now. Oh well. I've got faith in our boys. Let's get it.

I believe it does, but we are still set with all tiebreakers due to our conference record. (3 of our losses are to NFC teams-Redskins, Giants, and Cowboys)  I have ran the scenarios through nflplayoffpredictor.com and http://www.nfl.com/playoffs/playoff-picture/predictor(I have given up on ESPN's playoff machine because there were a ton of errors) and the Ravens win every conceivable tiebreak vs. other teams (unless somehow we end up tied alone with the Raiders of course)

This game is, in a sense, a freebie. The result changes very little about the complexion of the season - we have nothing to lose mathematically from this game really so I hope it gives the players the liberation to go on and win in foxboro

I respectfully disagree.  Win this and we have an excellent shot at the wildcard if we lose to pitt (we could then beat Eagles and Cincy to move to 10-6)  All we would need to happen then is for Miami to lose 1 more (@Jets, @Bills, vs. Patriots) and Denver to lose 1 (Patriots, @ Chiefs, Raiders) to get the final wildard (small shot even if we lose 1 other and go to 9-7 if Miamii and Denver both lose 2.  Obviously, I would prefer we beat the Steelers and win the division, but a win tonight gives us another path or 2 to the playoffs.

This is perhaps the most important game of the season. After Pittsburgh took care of Buffalo, the Ravens find themselves a game back. Losing to the Patriots would mean that they would have to run the table, beating the Steelers in Pittsburgh, in order to make the playoffs. Losing to the hapless Jets, and almost equally bad Redskins has cost the Ravens any cushion. Now, it is put up or shut up time. No lame excuses.

a 1/2 game back.  A game back in the standings is equal to 1 win by you and 1 loss by your opponent.  But, I agree with your premise.  I think the Ravens need to go 10-6 to make the playoffs (and must beat Steelers to win division)  I know there is a chance the Ravens could sneak in at 9-7, but I am definitely not counting on that!

  7. Looms like we have 2 paths to playoffs since i don't see Pitt losing to. Inch or Clev.

    1) Win 3 of next 4 (and beat Pitt) to win division

    2) Beat NE, Philly, and Cincy but lose to Pitt--Miami and Denver lose 1 more each--we get wildcard (and most likely a rematch in for first round of playoffs)

    Lol. Sorry.

Watched a few of their games this year and they're relying heavily on their run game. Add in their usual rubs and swings to get guys the ball in space and uncontested, something we've been screaming about wondering why we don't do the same, however that plays right into our hands. It's gonna be cold and snowy. If we can have a effective run game along with attacking them down the seams like we did Miami than this shouldn't be much of a struggle. We'll see.

Also known as illegal pick plays or offensive pass interference...well at least for the other 31 teams in the league

Maybe, hard to say how the 2017 board is going to fall but most pundits see more overall talent on the defensive side. I don't think we need much on offense.

    QB -set

    RB- pretty much set

WR- We draft horribly at this position but nothing before the 4th round

TE- Unless we cut Pitta I think we are good here.

OL- Could see Guard and Center as spots to bulk up

I think we could use a tackle as well for depth in the middle rounds, especially if we lose Wagner. I think we all agree that would like to have a better backup option than Hurst. If we retain Wagner, this is less of a need because Lewis is an OK backup tackle.

A huge number of our members don't get to SEE the games.

Excellent point. I enjoy these articles because I often do miss segments of our games.  Typically I see the first half or so in whole because my 2 young children are down for nap, but often see bits and pieces of the 2nd half.  Not every fan can watch every second of every game. These articles and this message board are a great way to keep me up to date on everything that happened/is happening with the Ravens.

I think this is a good idea. Because people go to church on sunday mornings. I say attend to your church around 9AM and then after that you get dressed and drive down to stadium. The NFL used to start at 3PM back in the old days before the mid 60s then they started at 1PM. You can watch most games on TV including the west coast game at same time. and then Sunday night football starts at 8PM and Monday night at 8;30 PM

I don't think this will ever happen because it takes away a TV timeslot each Sunday.  The NFL (and networks) make big money by having games at 1:00 and 4:00 (plus the night games)
