To also add, It's actually good for us to play weak teams first. This offense and defense are still taking their time to gel, build and get their guys back. The offense is still a work in progress and by the time we reach week 6, the Steelers, we'll have an offense that has reached its prime and could be top 10. Same with the defense. I see Za'darius coming along soon, same with Smith and Doom will only make this team better. We're getting adjusted on growing on both sides of the ball against weak teams, by the time we play those good to great teams, we'll have a team that will have reached its peak.

The first time we play the Steelers is Week 9.

Win's a win. I'd take a cake-walk to the postseason like the Pats get every year while happily ignoring everyone crying about SOS and being unproven. Fact is, all you can do is beat the teams you're given. Do it enough times and you'll make the postseason. It's a different sport, but the Spurs just won a championship a couple years ago after beating a bunch of bad teams and losing to the "contenders" during the regular season. Point being, all you need to do is get to the postseason--from there, anything can happen. If getting to the postseason means beating a dozen sub-500 teams while losing to the contenders, so be it.

Amen to that.  This isn't college football where style points matter to get into the postseason.  As Harbaugh has said before, it's all about getting into "the tournament" and playing well when you get there.  Do we look like a serious contender right now?  No, but championships are won in January and February, so we have a while to get better and become contenders.  So, if we look ugly and get W's, you won't see me complaining. Keep playing hard, find ways to get W's to make the tournament, then game on in January and February!  GO RAVENS!

Perriman, Mosley, Dumervil, Zuttah, Za'Darius Smith, Dixon not on practice field this morning.

Hope this isn't serious, after his drop early in the 1Q it looked like Perriman vanished.

Yeah, Perriman is the one out of the list that worries me.  Didn't expect Dumervil or Dixon to be pracitcing.  ZSmith is not a shock as he wasn't 100% coming into the game.  Not sure about Mosley or Zuttah, but both those guys are veterans and might be given the day off if they are dinged up a bit.  Perriman on the other hand still needs all the reps he can get with Flacco.  Hopefully, it's nothing serious with everything he's been through!

So we have to watch a game with all-purple uniforms against all-brown uniforms... great

Actually the Browns are going to be wearing all white because the brown and purple supposedly blend.

"Other teams that will wear white include the Browns -- since their all-brown uniforms would blend with the Ravens' purple -- and the Rams against the Seahawks -- since distinguishing yellow from green would be an issue."

Outside of Dixon and Dumervil, the other 5 inactives are a crap shoot.

So I will say; Moore, Hurst, Henry, Carter, and I think Powers, since he is still hurt.

Dixon, Dumerville, and Powers are all out so they are definites.  Can't see us having 6 CB active, so Canady/Price (my guess is Canady), Carter, Jensen/Hurst (depending if they trust Lewis or Hurst more as a backup LT),. Moore or Henry---probably depending on how comfortable the medical staff feels about extended reps for SSS and Perriman if injuries pop up to other WRs.

With all that in mind, i predict these 7 inactives:

    Doom

    Powers

    Dixon

    Carter

    Canady

    Hurst

    Moore

My heart wants to see Moore on the field, but I just can't see it happening.  Leaves us too short on DLine if Henry is inactive and injuries occur.

Good luck with that. I hope you have meds for depression on Sunday night.

I think any fan (Ravens or Bills) that thinks this is going to be a blowout either way is crazy!  I foresee a close, hard-fought game.   Obviously I am a Ravens fan, but I respect the Bills and think this game will be won by 7 points or less (hopefully by the Ravens). Looking forward to a great competitive game this weekend!  Go Ravens!

I wanted Bosa and I still would like to see him in purple and black. But I am so happy that the drama is not around the Ravens. Would be interesting if the Chargers traded him away. If you are okay with paying him upfront like we did with Stanley then I bet a team jumps on it. Still a risk because of some questionable things he has done recently but his talent is unquestionable.

Bosa can't be traded now.  http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/08/09/window-closes-on-potential-trade-of-joey-bosa-in-2016/

Sorry I forgot he fell that far. 4th rounder. Still that means you are taking the risk of having to draft a player in the 4th or 5th round again when this guy has yet to grow enough for us to see where he is at. We won't get much out of him we have to see him play and have him take a bigger role. Even though at this point out of the 4 running backs he looks the worst he is still a young developing player who proved he could play if called upon last season.

I think if the Ravens were offered a 4th for him, they would definitely take it.  5th I think they would consider it.  First, I think it is unlikely someone offers this, so it is probably a moot point, but our front office seems comfortable finding RBs in this area of the draft (drafted Allen and Dixon in back to back drafts in the 4th)  With our talent at RB and some tough roster decisions to be made, I think the Ravens would jump on this (but I don't think Ozzie's phone is going to be ringing with that offer)

  9. List of Ravens that won't play Sat likely includes Suggs, Dumervil, Perriman, Smith and guys I mentioned earlier as having not practiced

I"m guessing that's what he's going off of.  Although as you can see it clearly says "likely includes" which to me means this is Zrebiec's best guess at the moment.  I haven't heard anything official.  However, I personally would be shocked if Smith played.

  10. "He is America's finest in my view," special-teams coordinator Jerry Rosburg said. "You see him in the meetings, see him on the field. He is doing everything he can to get good at a lot of things, and we are practicing him at a lot of places. He has to find a place, and we have to find a place for him in the games. He is ready to roll.” Source:  ESPN:  Ravens salute Navy's Keenan Reynolds as 'America's finest,' but will he make team?

Pretty strong words from Jerry Rosburg.  I know I had completely written him off as not making the 53 man roster and going to the practice squad if he clears waivers.  I am still skeptical that he makes the 53 man roster, but this definitely opens up the debate a little more.

Our roster seems really tight this year, which I think is really good.  I know other teams will be cutting players as well.  Has then been any discussion of trimming to 52 or 51 to leave a spot open for a cut player from another team?  Or do we cut to 53, then cut a player to make room for someone we pick up?  That seems brutal, but it just how the business goes sometimes.

Also, I'm intrigued by the discussion of cutting Juice.  That seems unfathomable to me, but we have better RBs in West, Dixon and Allen and better TEs.  Cutting Juice could be absorbed by an offensive scheme and would make room for a player we really need somewhere else.  I see a lot of people have Jeremy Butler, Sheldon Price and Terrance Brooks on the bubble.  It would be nice to keep any of them.  Thoughts??

First off, I don't think there is any way we cut down to 51 or 52.  If a player we like more becomes available, then yes we cut the "53rd man" and make room for the new guy.  Definitely some tough decisions to be made with the number of talented guys we have this year (which is a great problem to have)

The Juice discussion is quite interesting because he hasn't played much in the first 2 preseason games, but has always started with the starters.  I somehow think we are going to keep 5 RBs (or 4 RBs and 1 FB) 7 WRs and 4 TEs, but that makes the defensive side a little tight.

I think Books is going to be safe with Elam's injury.  My guess on Elam is we cut him with an injury settlement.  That way he doesn't take up a roster spot and we have the possibility to bring him back if he is healthy and we are not happy with our other options at safety.  To me, I don't see any way Price can make the 53 man roster, barring a major injury to someone ahead of him.  From what I have heard, I think Smith, Wright, Powers, Davis, Young, and Canady would all be ahead of him and I think it is going to be hard to find a spot for Canady.  It might come down to if the team thinks he can clear waivers and make the practice squad.

While these conversations of cutting talented/worthy guys are difficult, it shows great depth and *knock on wood* not as many injuries thus far as previous years.  A lot of guys are going to have to play their hearts and souls out over the next 2 preseason games to earn their spot.  I am anxiously waiting to see how it all pans out.

  12. I am excited for the game too!  FYI for you out of towners like myself who might not be able to get the original broadcast, NFL Network is showing it at 5:00 a.m. Sunday (My DVR is already set!)   Anyone know if this will be the Lions or the Ravens announcers for that broadcast?  I am really hoping it's the Ravens announcers after being stuck with the Colts announcers for the last one!

Question is... does he get on the field the same time as Flacco? Assuming Steve Smith doesn't play, you would think Wallace and Aiken will be running with the first team.

No idea how long Joe stays in the game, but I doubt its for a full half like usual. Maybe a quarter I'd say.

Would really like to see Breshad actually play with Joe, but not sure if we will get much of that on Saturday. Will still be nice to see him out there though.

My guess is IF he plays, the Ravens will throw him out there for a few plays with Flacco just to start to develop the chemistry.  Don't think it will be too many plays since other guys ahead of him on the depth chart need to get some reps with Flacco as well, but I think they give him a few to see what happens in live action.  All of this is of course IF he is given medical clearance.

It's been pretty much made known that Camp is on this team as long as he stays healthy between now and cut day.

I agree.  I don't see anyway Camp doesn't make this team if he is healthy.  He is our only true PR and has looked good with the offense when healthy.  If everyone is healthy, I think the big question with our WR corp is do we keep 7 so Bulter can make the 53 man roster.  I think, barring injury, SSS, Aiken, Wallace, Moore, Perriman, and Camp are locks.  Definitely some tough roster decisions to be made with 4 quality RBs, 7 quality WRs, and 4 quality TEs.  If you keep that many at all those positions, it is a numbers crunch in other places.

Dont be so sure of yourself. If he gets cleared for contact for even 1 practice this week i think he plays. Harbs said if he can play he will, and i believe that.

If they want him ready for week 1 hes going to have to take some snaps. Maybe not extensive but i think he'll get a few in this weekend.

I also recall everyone telling me that theres no way he'd be back this week when i set his return date at today.

I agree.  While obviously it remains to be seen if he will play this weekend, I wouldn't rule it out.  I think it would be great if they could even get a few plays for him with Flacco throwing it to him to see if they can start to form a connection
