  1. Just did another FanSpeak mock and came out with this (much different than I would have predicted going in) VIEW EACH TEAM'S DRAFT 16: R1P16 WR MIKE WILLIAMS CLEMSON 47: R2P15 OT GARETT BOLLES UTAH 78: R3P14 C PAT ELFLEIN OHIO STATE 102: R3P38 CB DAMONTAE KAZEE SAN DIEGO STATE 121: R4P16 CB KEVIN KING WASHINGTON 160: R5P15 EDGE TYUS BOWSER HOUSTON 199: R6P14 EDGE BRYAN COX JR. FLORIDA 237: R7P16 RB DEVINE REDDING INDIANA
  2. I agree. A lot of fans on here seem to be ignoring all of the comments from the Ravens. I originally guessed that he would be the Ravens preferred option at RT as well, but that is not what the Ravens are saying. It sounds most likely that he will be our LG for years to come. Of course, RT is always a possibility if they determine he is the best fit (like you said in an emergency), but I look for them to fill the RT void with someone else, assuming Wagner leaves....I have no clue who that "someone else" might be, but I fully expect to see Lewis as our starting LG next year.
  3. Wow! How many ways can the Patriots cheat? And the sad part is, the NFL is helping cover it up!
  4. I agree that Watson is the TE I would let go. Too many questions marks for that old of a TE coming off of an Achilles injury. I love the POTENTIAL of all 3 of our young TEs--Maxx, Crockett, Boyle, and Waller...all have their question marks, but anyone of them could step up and be big playmakers. I say try to bring back Pitta on a more team-friendly deal and let these guys compete. Wallace in my opinion is a tough call for the Ravens. He is our most proven WR, but showed signs of decline towards the end of the season and $8 million cap hit this year is pretty big (save $5.75 million if we cut him) However, I'm not sure I'd extend him for 3-4 years because I think it is very possible his play starts to decline and we would be stuck with another bad contract or facing a lot of dead money with cut, etc...I think we pay him this year or sign him to a modest 1 year extension. If we had someone more reliable behind him, I think he might be a cap casualty, but we don't.
  5. Out of curiosity, where are you getting this list? Also--Didn't Desmond King say he talked with the Ravens and he thought the Ravens would be a good fit for him????
  6. I think this is a bit harsh. Have we had some big misses? (Elam, Brown, etc) YES....MOST experts say we had an EXCELLENT draft last year. Stanley, Young, Dixon, Lewis, and Judon were all key contributors. Jury is still out on guys like Correa, Kaufusi, Moore, Henry, etc.
  7. I am the biggest King fan around (I am a HUGE Iowa Hawkeyes fan), but this is just delusional. Don't get me wrong. I will be EXTREMELY excited if King is on our team next year, but no way he is the next Darrelle Revis.
  8. Interesting...on the Colts page on ESPN, there is no mention of DeCosta when discussing GM candidates: http://www.espn.com/nfl/team/_/name/ind/indianapolis-colts Mike Wells ESPN Staff Writer Here's the list of names that has been reported that the Colts have requested permission to interview or plan to interview for their general manager position: Colts vice president of football operations Jimmy Raye III, Green Bay director of football operations Eliot Wolf, Kansas City director of player personnel Chris Ballard, Seattle co-directors of pro personnel Scott Fitterer and Trent Kirchner and Minnesota assistant general manager George Paton. Mike Wells ESPN Staff Writer The Colts announce six candidates will interview for the vacant GM job. 9. Joe just turned 32. His birthday is January 16, 1985 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Flacco
  10. I think the average yardage per pass includes incompletions and completions. Avg. yardage per RECEPTION only counts completed passes.
  11. My dream scenario is snagging one of the top corners in the first (lattimore, jones, wilson, etc.), then King falling to our 2nd round pick. (I am very biased on King because I am a huge Hawkeyes fan) Talk about a boost to our secondary! Jimmy and first round pick on the outside, Tavon in the slot. Then, King would either replace Webb (if we cut him, which I am hopeful we can retain him on a more team-friendly deal) or be very quality backup at CB and S. I know we have other needs, but secondary has been the area that has let this team down the most over the last few years. I think this is the draft to go hard and address that area.
  12. OK, I need to stop playing with this site...here's my latest: Your score is: 9476 (GRADE: B-) Your Picks: Round 2 Pick 6 (LAC): Corey Davis, WR, Western Michigan (A+) Round 2 Pick 8 (CAR): Gareon Conley, CB, Ohio State (A) Round 2 Pick 9 (CINN): Desmond King, FS/CB, Iowa (A-) Round 2 Pick 14 (MINN): T.J. 13. Wow this site is unrealistic! Here's what I just came up with: Your score is: 10344 (GRADE: B+) Your Picks: Round 2 Pick 6 (LAC): Gareon Conley, CB, Ohio State (A-) Round 2 Pick 19 (DEN): Quincy Wilson, CB, Florida (A) Round 2 Pick 23 (NYG): Cordrea Tankersley, CB, Clemson (A+) Round 2 Pick 24 (OAK): JuJu Smith-Schuster, WR, Southern California (A+) Round 2 Pick 25 (HOU): Dan Feeney, OG, Indiana (A+) Round 3 Pick 14: Jordan Leggett, TE, Clemson (A+) Round 3 Pick 23 (NYG): Anthony Walker Jr., ILB, Northwestern (B) Round 3 Pick 24 (OAK): Elijah Lee, OLB, Kansas State (B+) Round 4 Pick 16: Chad Wheeler, OT, Southern California (B+) Round 4 Pick 21 (DET): Dawuane Smoot, DE, Illinois (B+) Round 5 Pick 15: Hunter Dimick, DE, Utah (A+) Round 7 Pick 16: Amba Etta-Tawo, WR, Syracuse (A-) Your Future Picks: 2018 Round 1 Pick 2019 Round 1 Pick
  14. I agree with you. I really want us to focus on the secondary. Yes, a good pass rush is very helpful, but we saw the difference in our D with and without Jimmy. In my ideal world, we get 1 of the top-notch corners (Lattimore, Wilson, Jones, etc...haven't analyzed them to know who I prefer), then Desmond King slips to our second pick (I suspect his combine numbers will not blow anybody away, but love his playmaking ability) I think King could play either CB or FS (could be a replacement for Webb down the line or this year if the FO is ready to move on...but I hope they keep Webb) Secondary is the number one thing that has been holding this defense back the last several years, and I think this might be the draft to "double-down" on secondary.
  15. This is my dream scenario for the first 2 rounds..top corner in round 1....Wilson, Lattimore, Jones, etc. then Desmond King slips to Rd. 2 for us...I think he could possibly be a quality corner and potentially an all-pro free safety (granted, I am extremely biased since I am a huge Hawkeyes fan because I grew up in Iowa) 16: R1P16 CB QUINCY WILSON FLORIDA 47: R2P15 S DESMOND KING IOWA 78: R3P14 WR JUJU SMITH-SCHUSTER USC 102: R3P38 C KYLE FULLER BAYLOR 121: R4P16 OT FORREST LAMP WESTERN KENTUCKY 160: R5P15 EDGE EJUAN PRICE PITTSBURGH 199: R6P14 EDGE JOE MATHIS WASHINGTON 237: R7P16 RB DEVINE REDDING INDIANA
  16. Who in their right mind negged these 2 posts!? (I boosted them back up with a positive)
  17. Wow! That is heartbreaking for Orr. UDFA finally had his breakthrough season, and now this happens! Best wishes to him and his family moving forward!
  18. Thanks for the insight. I honestly couldn't remember KO's play as a rookie. I don't have the time or football knowledge to accurately dissect individual play, so I enjoy coming on here and getting people's insight into these things. Regardless of comparisons to KO, I am very excited for Lewis' potential. I am really hopeful that Stanley and Lewis become an above average to dominant left side of the line for us for years to come. Obviously, I am jumping the gun here--not saying that WILL happen, but am hopeful that it will happen.
  19. Took my shot on FanSpeak---I would be ecstatic if these were our first 2 picks. Also-if I could have done trades--TJ Watt went late second round and I would have been doing everything I could to snag him. VIEW EACH TEAM'S DRAFT 16: R1P16 CB QUINCY WILSON FLORIDA 47: R2P15 S DESMOND KING IOWA 78: R3P14 C ETHAN POCIC LSU 102: R3P38 WR AMARA DARBOH MICHIGAN 121: R4P16 EDGE DEVONTE FIELDS LOUISVILLE 160: R5P15 DL DEANGELO BROWN LOUISVILLE 199: R6P14 EDGE JOE MATHIS WASHINGTON 237: R7P16 RB DEVINE REDDING INDIANA
  20. I would love this scenario! First, I will say I am completely biased on King because I am a HUGE Iowa Hawkeyes fan! (I grew up in Iowa) I agree that he does not have the best measurements, but he is a PLAYMAKER. I would love it if he slipped down the board and we were able to get him late second round. I probably am in the minority here, but I would be stoked if we got a premier corner in the 1st (Jones, Wilson, Lattimore, etc.--I haven't done enough research to know who I would like there), then King was still around in the 2nd (either at our 2nd or trading back into later in the second round). What a boost for our secondary that would be. I know our pass rush struggled, but bottom line, our defense was pretty darn good when we had Jimmy and Tavon. Imagine Jimmy, (Jones/Wilson/Lattimore) on the outside, with Tavon Young in the slot, add in King for depth at CB/FS. We keep saying you can never have enough secondary players and I think this draft may be our chance to put our money where our mouth is and go and get a couple quality secondary players!
  21. While I agree with you that we miss KO and Lewis wasn't as good as KO, I think we are not giving Lewis enough credit. He was a 4th round pick in his rookie year. I haven't went back and compared, but if we compared KO year 1 vs. Lewis year 1, my guess is that they would be pretty comparable (anyone feel free to chime in here if they have actually reviewed tape to compare). I am hopeful that Lewis turns into a KO-type player, but that is yet to be seen. I was happy with what I saw from him (Lewis) and hope he continues to progress next year. We have him on a rookie contract and if he continues to progress, we are going to have one heck of a value at LG for a few years!
  22. It's definitely a tough debate about which is more important: pass rush or secondary. In reality, it is impossible to separate the 2 because they rely on each other. Personally, I would rather invest in another good CB over pass rusher. I think we have a pretty good sample about what our team looks like with 2 quality outside corners vs. 1 (even with our inconsistent pass rush) Unless our pass rush drastically improves (which I am not sure would happen by the addition of just 1 player), I feel upgrading CB is a much safer route to go with us. I feel if we had 1 more quality outside CB, we would be in the playoffs and ready to give NE/Pitt/anybody else one heck of a game.
  23. I respectfully disagree with this statement after seeing the Ravens with Jimmy and without Jimmy. Obviously pass rush helps the secondary, but when we had Jimmy and Tavon out there as our corners, we were pretty darn good. Imagine Jimmy and another good corner on the outside with Tavon sliding to his natural nickelback position...then if Jimmy or the other CB gets hurt, we know Tavon can slide up to outside corner. This year when Jimmy was out, we had nobody we could rely on on the outside opposite of Tavon.
  24. If Webb was smart, he'd renegotiate a more cap-friendly deal to help both sides. If Perriman and Moore were smart, they'd spend a LOT of times on the JUGS machine and workng out with Flacco to get their timing If Flacco was smart, he would spend time gaining chemistry with receivers and focusing on his fundamentals; footwork, etc. If Lewis was smart, he'd watch a lot of tape of Yanda and learn how to become a dominant guard. If West and Dixon were smart, they'd work their butts off this offseason to prove they deserve more carries (since it's pretty much been said that we want to bring in another running back) If Reynolds was smart, he should spend a lot of time fielding punts and kickoffs to show he is ready to be a returner next year. IF Waller was smart, he'd work on his blocking and watching tape of premier TEs to learn intricacies of running better routes, etc.
  25. I for the most part agree with you; although I might try to re-negotiate a deal/seek a paycut with Pitta before outright releasing him due to his chemistry with Flacco--but, we can't afford him back in my opinion on his current deal--so if he doesn't do that, then he's gone--much like Webb I believe. My gut has always been to move Lewis to RT too, but it seems like the Ravens are not interested in that--there have been many comments by Harbaugh and others that they see Lewis as a guard. I still think you can't overpay Wagner, so that means probably looking for a quality RT in the draft. I definitely think we need another WR as well and I would be happy with any of those 3 names-Jackson, Woods, or Britt--depending on price. I think those are the realistic things I would like to see in free agency--of course if a C, CB, S, or pass rusher suddenly come avaiable at the right price (not likely) I would love to upgrade there.
