I'm a little shocked about Hill's tender but I think F.O got something up their sleeve.
Speaking of which, Sizzle restructured...
Hey, there is always the prospect of the "Miraculous Reversion". That's where a truly rotten player suddenly and inexplicably becomes a star...even an all pro. I see no reason why a Miraculous Reversion cannot occur with Mr. Elam, but for one thing. He never was that good as a collegian.
Now this is a player with a legitimate chance for a "Miraculous Reversion". If we could pick up Johnson and have him revert to his form 5 years ago that would be the steal of all steals. You know the Johnson I'm talking about, the one that never use to drop the ball and was pretty fast to boot!
Yeah, but our secondary is not that great of a concern when we have Gunslinger Joe and his cast of Miraculously Reverting Old Receivers!
Well, maybe not...at least Mr Elam has proven there's no difference after playing both positions.
This is in regard to Cecil Shorts and truth be told kindalikehim..............but he's not gonna stretch the field like Torrey did....or even Jacoby. Do we still have that speedy WR from Florida? Even if he can't catch we need someone to move their safeties back.
I know, I just don't feel that Pollard would upgrade Elam as much.
He was the #2 ranked safety in 2013 as well.
Yeah he's a straight beast, I really hope we keep him.
Janikowski was a first round pick for Oakland. I mena it is Oakland but...
It's Oakland...But then again they were real during those days, but now....it's just Oakland....
If Hill gets an offer elsewhere, I wouldn't mind bringing Pollard back. Bringing him and Cary back would inject some attitude into this defense that was missed last year. Brooks at FS, Pollard back at SS and drafting a SS to groom behind Pollard would really improve our secondary.
I think it would just be better to have Elam at SS than Pollard. Save more money and at least we can fulfill what Oz said when he challenged him to play like a first rounder. Also, with how Pollard has been playing recently, I doubt he'd be that high of an upgrade over Elam.
I actually thought we'd give the 2nd round tender to Hill, I'd be worried about losing him. If someone swoops him and offers him a contract he's easily gone, and teams know our cap situation, they know we can't bid much and with the safety position becoming increasingly valued, it's a risky opposition, at least with a 2nd, we'd gladly let him go. Hill was one of the bright-spots, I feel that with a full season, he could be one of the top ranked safeties.
Anyone else concerned by Tucker only getting a 2nd round tender? I would give up a 2nd round pick for him in a heartbeat.
I highly doubt anyone would. We talk about the RB position being devalued, no position in the NFL has been more devalued than place kicker, as much as I love Tucker, getting a 2nd would make me do flips.
With a 2nd, we could use it as trade bait and get into the low teens, getting us either Parker, White or Cooper or better yet keep it, which may be the better option, 2nd may not be worth it.
But 2nd round pick would be huge for us.
Will Hill was said to be the 14th best ranked Safety according to PFF. I don't resort to PFF, but that tells me that keeping him would be in our best interest at least from other teams. Dude was also coming off a suspension, he could be serious with a full season.
We need to keep Will Hill at almost any cost, guy is a stud and he was just getting started last year after his suspension.. incredible value for money even if we have to match another teams offer on him, as long as the offer isn't ridiculous he will be worth every penny.
Would be insane if we pulled AJ somehow and then got a wr in the 1st round
Devin Smith would be a guy I'd like if we did something like that.
I don't think DGB is necessarily off our board and I think some of us are making much of what Ozzie said and adding words. Ozzie said, and I quote:
"The one area we will definitely take a hard look – and it will be tough for us to bring a player to Baltimore – is someone who has domestic abuse in their background,” Newsome said at the season-review press conference Tuesday. “Other than that, we’ll exhaust every character aspect of the player, but we believe in allowing the information to lead us to a decision when we deal with that.”
That implies that it'll be tough but not necessarily impossible or improbable.
That's what I imagine which is why I say unlikely but not impossible.
Michael Crabtree, Percy Harvin and Hakeem Nicks are still out there. So would anyone be ok with adding any of them??
I wouldnt mind Nicks. I Remember we wanted Nicks when he was a rookie, but Giants took him. I seem to remember a lot of people mocking us to draft him.
I wouldn't mind Michael Crabtree. Good player but his asking price could drive up. Knicks, I don't know. I was a fan of his, especially during the Giants SB run where he took over and went in during that playoff run.
Harvin, I wouldn't take that risk due to his contract and there will be suitors lining up that could pay more than us as well.
Jeremy Maclin signing with the Chiefs is good news for us, knowing they won't draft a WR now.
It would be nice to get some cap room and work on the contracts of the players that are going to expire next year. Then we might be in better shape next season during this time of year.
The only guy I think we'll work on is Yanda. Makes the most sense out of all candidates.
I love Suh's game, but that's too much money on one player that's not a QB. There's a bevy of Pro Bowl players you can designate that cap towards.
If we can't make a play on Moore, D'Norris Searcy is a guy I like.
I don't see how Bowe would be an upgrade over Torrey. I question if he's a #2. People say it could be because of Alex Smith or what ever but who ever did he had better before Smith? Not many great QBs before Alex Smith, I think it was more than that.
Don't know if Detroit will resign Suh. They have Calvin with a $100M contract, and Mathew Stafford getting paid like a 100M man as well. That's two +100M guys. Adding Suh could make it three, that's insane.
The problem with that is McPhee is a guy we would shift inside on pass rushing downs. I don't know if we could do the same thing for Cole or not
That is true but as an pass rusher he'd still be good. He wouldn't replace McPhee, he would add more to the pass rush that we'll miss from McPhee, I don't expect him to do the same thing McPhee did.
Trent Cole is a guy I'd like. He would be a good filler for McPhee late in his career, he may not be an upgrade over McPhee, but our pass rush would take a limited hit with Cole.
Cary is a guy I'd be fine with, he wasn't good or bad with us he was ok but in the playoffs he turned it on. Though I'm deadset, as a nickle he'd be okay. I'd call this year a down year for him, he ranked 49th or something out of all CBs last year so he'd be an ok addition. Rest of the Eagles secondary was atrocious so they had Cary handle the big assignments and high priorities.
Id rather have Marshall over Johnson but the Marshall rumors are all over the place.
If we don't get Marshall or AJ in FA, I'd rather have them go to WR needy teams.
I'd love to have McCourty, but I'm not so sure if we have a chance, too much value, when he hits the open market, you're going to have teams like Jacksonville and Oak lining up with Cash, seems unlikely though I'd love to have him.
If we didn't have to deal with Rice's cap hit we'd be ok but 9.5M is devastating.
Steve Johnson would be a good addition, not a #1 but he'd be a good fit as a #2.
I wouldn't mind Dockett, may have taken a step back but he'd be an effective player at his age. We're kinda young at the position already. With cutting Canty we'll be having Urban and KLM take the reins who F.O are very high on. They're pretty young with limited starting experience, also add Jigg who was battling injuries from time to time. I'd say as far as youth goes, we're pretty fine right now. Getting guys with experience would be more beneficial.
BTW what does everybody think bout Lyerla and or Justin Blackmon. They wouldn't cost much $$ or in Justin Blackmon case a high draft pick. Justin Blackmon is my favorite WR. He has Dez Bryant athleticism and ball skills but is a smoother slightly more sudden route runner. Come on guys let's give them both a shot, what do u say??
Blackmon has to prove he's squeaky clean and even then It's more safer to go WR Round 1.

Do we get the comp pick, I don't know if we get one since Hill was undrafted.
