  1. I don't think Gilmore is refined much. He doesn't know how to beat double teams and some of his routes are a little rusty. He doesn't move all that well either but I think he's definitely got a spot here.
  2. I would, I think we need to hit on a 2nd round pick. I don't think we can afford to miss on it, in our last three drafts we've found little to no contributions from our 2nd round picks. Arthur Brown, Maxx Williams, and Kamalei Correa lack of contributions has hurt this team and they're starting to feel it. Pick someone who might not be able to make an impact his 1st or even 2nd year and that's four guys in the past 5 drafts thats given you near nothing. 2nd round is a place where you can find first round talent and guys who can make an impact, its almost like another 1st round draft pick in some sense. I know this is an opinion of sorts but I've seen this in a lot of places. I would honestly wait for Jones till the 3rd or 4th round, I think he's a good player but I don't think he's a top level talent that we saw from the likes of Jaylon Smith and Myles Jack who saw a hard/undeserving drop and were considered top 10(Even as high as top 5) picks.
  3. To be fair, by the time Joe got injured the Ravens were well out of the playoff picture and he certainly wasn't playing well during that time period. In terms of his knee, I for sure think the knee effected him in a big way this past season and physiologically he wasn't fully recovered, not even close, he threw off his back foot too often, didn't extend plays, and too often used Pitta as a security blanket when there were plays open downfield.
  4. That's what I wanted as well, call me crazy but I would've liked to give the Watson experience another look over keeping Pitta, I feel like his strengths is what we missed so badly from this offense and TE positions. What Watson strives in is exactly where PItta fails.
  5. I definitely think Judon has a role here going forward, not a starter but I think he's definitely going to be a contributor. I honestly wouldn't flinch if Za'darius Smith was cut.
  6. Agreed, I would definitely take him if he falls to us. At this moment I think he's our guy.
  7. I don't think Tom Brady has been doing it all on limited talent. I think Edelman is a really good WR when healthy and they always rebuild with talent around Brady, that OL is surely one of the top of the league, and they have WRs who can contribute, are they the best in the league? No, not by a long shot but they have coaches who are great at what they do who put them in that position, I don't think the Ravens have that type of coaching staff. They also have done a magnificent job of managing the cap and thats on the Ravens, bad contracts have hurt them, I can't argue against the deals given to Webb and Monroe but Pitta's is certainly questionable. Coming off a hip injury and you pay him 7M per year? That was one to shrug at admittedly. Not getting the return value on Webb and Monroe put them where they are I can't blame them to much for that. In terms of Jefferson or Williams, I agree strongly with keeping both. The Ravens are not getting a #1 CB on the roster and why would they even try with Jimmy on the team, might as well go for the next best thing and that's getting a top level safety who will help shut down the deep passing game. In terms of Williams, I made my case about the DLs decline, having a guy like Williams who can take on two interior linemen and shut the run down early is super important. Someone here said it, forgot who but it was on the money, Ray Lewis advocated for Ngata because a guy like him who could take on two interior linemen gave the ILB a free runner at the ball carrier. Even if BW's pass rush isn't felt, the fact that he can take on two blockers proves pivotal to inside blitzes, and a big reason why Mosley/Orr did a great job at getting to the QB. Defense statistically was top 5, but I can recall Biscotti said they were just as responsible for the season ending the way it did. I think the defense in the 1st round has plenty of good defensive talent but overall it hits a hard decline towards the middle and end rounds and the amount of CB talent decreases drastically. I'm fine with going defense if we go offense via draft. On the case of the starters, I think losing Wagner and Juice sucks but Wagner plays a position that isn't highly valued as the other positions on the line, same can be said for Juice who isn't even featured in some offenses. I think the loss of Steve Smith Sr. will be more felt than either. Personally, I think a good WR and TE would heavily offset the losses if we're expecting Stanley and Lewis to step up.
  8. Can't blame them for keeping BWill. The DL hit a rock, they just lost Guy and Jernigan had an awful stretch the end the season. The run defense got torn to shreds and a lot of that had to do with the guys around BWill, lose him and see that run defense decline and you can forget about the additions we made in the secondary because it would have all went to shreds.
  9. I don't know if he would have put up those numbers, I think he would have match Pitta in terms of receiving yards, maybe hit that 800 mark along with 7 TDs but I think he would have been really good here. I know he played in an amazing offense with a top 5 QB ever but Watson did a great job of exposing deep middle coverages and beating Linebackers like a drum. Those are things you credit the player for doing and Watson was spectacular at that. I personally think he would have been a beast here.
  10. He would have been good here IMO. It's sad but it is what it is, I wouldn't mind holding onto him. He could still show that he has plenty left in TC.
  11. Every team is going to have to rely on a young gun to step up. This isn't the first time the team relied upon someone who is defined as "un-proven" to step up. Personally the hole at WR is concerning but I think Perriman is going to take a big step next season and the team anticipates that. I think he could potentially be a 1200+ and 8TD+ player, not saying that's going to happen at all but the potential is there. I think we're in store for big things in reguards to Perriman and I think he's going to shock some people.
  12. I wouldn't be shocked if the Ravens held onto him until T.C. His contract isn't expensive and what Watson had the Ravens lacked. They badly needed a vertical TE who could stretch the middle of the field, and shift coverage safeties consistently. Pitta's inability to separate from LBs allowed for more safeties to play deep coverage and pretty much force our plays to play the short field game more, because they knew in the back of their minds that Wallace and Perriman could burn them deep on any given moment. There were reports of him emerging as the #1 TE through TC and had he stayed healthy he very well would have been it. I personally think the loss of Watson was very underrated for the Ravens.
  13. I wouldn't define Matthews as a move the chains type guy. He's not as physical as his size indicates and seems like a slot guy to me even coming over here. He's also on the last year of his deal so we're going to have to pay up. I don't think I would want him here unless the price is really low. This thread is probably getting locked lol
  14. We lost two players who while were really good, played at a position that isn't valued all that high. The RT position is the lowest paid group on the OL and one that teams feel that they can move around, more attention is typically paid to the inside and LT. Juice was a great player and I'm going to miss him but there are teams out there who don't even involve a FB into their offense, and I don't think its one that the Ravens have struggle with finding talent at either. I think the concern should be placed more on the inside of the OL and with the WRs. I can take losing Juice and Wagner, its not going to hit us nearly as hard as when we lost McPhee or Graham. Those two losses hurt this team so bad and are part of the reasons why the team is in the position they're in today. So bad that I really wish we could have had another shot at keeping either Graham or McPhee.
  15. 7M+ is too much for someone who can't stay on the field. Unless he's elite or at least in that discussion than I want nothing to do with overpaying him.
  16. Like this signing, think we got one low-cost signing left. A cap cut guy makes sense.
  17. It's very possible we take a CB in the 1st. It's a developmental position and Carr isn't what we would define as young at this point in his career. I think the team is very much in play to still pick a CB in the 1st but it just depends on if the right guy is there. This move certainly gives them the flexibility to pick a OLB early.
  18. I very much approve of this signing. Though Carr isn't elite or spectacular, I don't think the Ravens need an elite CB. As long as Jimmy stays healthy and locks down #1 WRs then I think the Ravens can definitely go out and get someone who while isn't elite is a quality player at his position. I think the Ravens are going to put out a very good secondary, now they just need to check off the pass rusher boxes which I expect to be addressed in the 1st round of the draft.
  19. I haven't paid a whole lot of attention to Lamp admittedly, but for me to take a C, he would have to be an elite player at his position. A "C.J Mosley" at C where he's an almost sure-fire bet to succeed over someone like Wilson, Davis, Humphrey, Foster, Williams. It's not about the position, I think C is an important position but its the way the boards are constructed in the draft. Travis Frederick was a highly regarded player but the pick was criticized by many because a lot of people out there felt that Dallas could've had Frederick later. If Lamp is what the Ravens to be an elite C, then I'm more than fine with that choice. I personally think an impact WR would have a bigger effect on this team than an elite C but I would more than welcome an elite C. I feel that we can afford to wait till the 2nd or 3rd round, you got guys like Eifen, Pocic, and Toth who can be really good players.
  20. 16 is too high to take a center.
  21. As it stands right now, Perriman is the #1 WR on the roster, even with Mike Wallace on the team. I stand firm on the idea that Perriman is going to be a beast and personally I think he could be a star next season. He has the raw tools, I just think that he needs to refine his routes and improve his chemistry with Joe, I find those two concerns to be my biggest. I think he's going to come into next season improved on those routes. People forget that Perriman played in a Pro style offense at UCF that asked him to run a variety of routes. It's not like he's unfamiliar with the concept similar to what we've seen from player who come from Baylor or Oregon. Still, I don't anyone being concerned with that, at the same time we still have to rely on the guy whether we like it or not. In terms of a WR, we did trade for AnQuan Boldin back in 2010 so we could trade for someone, though I doubt it will happen. Speaking of Boldin I would love to have him back here, sure he's on the back end of his career but I feel that he still has something left in the tank and could push the guys behind him to play better. I also think his physical brand of play style could push Perriman to play more physical as well.
  22. I'm relieved that this happened. I honestly think the Ravens have a plan and this cut maybe contributed to what they're trying to do. I don't think Zuttah is going to fit in with this OL scheme. They want a big and physical OL, that doesn't match Zuttah and with four of the five roster positions set (They had their eye on keeping Wagner taken into accout) that only meant that Zuttah was the odd-man out. I think Jensen is very well in the cards, he seems to fit the Ravens mold off an OL and has been in the development cycle for long enough. I bid farewell to Zuttah.
  23. That's the whole point, we would have to give up 3 players potentially for the price of 1. That is going backwards as a franchise when we're trying to get as many pro bowlers at each position as possible. Ridiculous, if we made that trade of a 1st for Butler than I would ask for Ozzie's resignation.
  24. Like BMore said I think Claiborne is just surveying the market, ultimately I think he takes the Ravens offer. I think Arrington is a sure cut as well, I think the team is waiting to bring in more guys before they make the cuts. In Zuttah's case I think they're waiting for a capable C before letting him go, even though the Ravens desire of a physical and power-run offense doesn't align with Zuttah's skill set, I firmly believe that they're waiting for the right guy to come around. In Watson's case I think the Ravens are holding off and I wouldn't be upset about that, I think that while it's tough to gauge just how effective he is given the injury at his age, he's a highly athletic TE, he can go vertical, attack the deep middle and sideline of coverages and the Ravens need someone of that caliber at TE badly. I think they could hold onto him going into TC and then decide to cut him. I really think he would've been the #1 TE had he stayed healthy and word is he was certainly emerging as the #1 TE. Sucks that he got hurt because we could have really used him here, I feel like he would have had a good year. Still, I think he's cut but its unfortunate. I didn't like the signing at first but after going back to the tape and looking at the longevity at the TE position, I personally think the signing was brilliant.
  25. I see, I thought that NO just put more value on Cooks than they imagined. At the same time a player on a rookie deal's value is shot up significantly compared to other, Butler is on the tender and wants to be paid like an Unrestricted FA so I don't think a 1st round pick lands Butler.
