I think the difference in calculations when it comes down to SOS is based on whether you use the SOS of the 14 games so far, or if you include the SOS of the 2 teams we are yet to play
I'm not paying any attention to how we rank against the other 4 win teams based on SOS right now as it can and will change.
IMO best way to took at it is..... assuming we don't win another game, absolute lowest we will be picking is 6.
I'm not sure how respected Matt Miller is when it comes to scouting/ draft etc but last night he tweeted that the talk among scouts is that Hargreaves is actually closer to 5'9'' than the 5'11'' he is listed at
Obviously that doesn't change his last 3 years film, and perhaps it shouldn't affect his draft stock, but we all know measureables are more of a factor than they probably should be.
If he truly does measure 5'9'' at the combine (no way of falsifying it when you're standing there in your boxers) then surely he would fall down a few boards?
Might sound a bit strange, but the thing that excited me most about a top 3 or 4 pick was the potential to get a first round talent in the second.
If you're smart, more often than not you will pick up a starter in the first round. However with a high 2nd round pick you have a chance of getting another due to other teams reaching in the 1st.
Hargreaves/ Ramsey in the 1st and a decent pass rusher in the high 2nd could make the world of difference to this defense.
Are we really in that good of a shape come 2016?
I keep reading this, however according to overthecap.com (http://overthecap.com/salary-cap/baltimore-ravens then click the 2016 tab) we are already committed to $136m. Remove Steve Smith and that is $133m
The current 2015 cap is $142m (don't think that includes Zuttah restructure and Wright/Mostert signings) so we are only $9m better off, and that's before Yanda/ Tucker/ Osemele (probably gone) are factored in
The Flacco increase from $14.5 to $28.5 pretty much accounts for the dead money that comes off the books.
If Flacco doesn't extend/ restructure or the cap doesn't go up by a significant amount then I don't see us having much room to do anything in the FA market.
Is this the case or am I misreading the numbers?
Is it worth considering trading anyone that we don't expect to be here next year?
Most seem to agree that Yanda and Tucker will be the 2 that we prioritise to resign
What could we realistically get for Osemele? Would anyone give a 3rd? A 4th maybe?
Can't imagine we could get more than a 7th for Upshaw for a potential 11 game rental , but surely there would be a market for KO? Possible negative i suppose could be that having KO as an alternative gives us some leverage with the Yanda negotiations
Not sure of any other vets we would consider putting on the block?
It's looking like next years draft will be huge for this franchise, and we could have our highest picks for years, any extra picks to get more young talent would be helpful
I wasn't really impressed with his burst off the line. He has pass rush moves, but I think he's more of a Sam LB like Upshaw than a dynamic pass-rusher like McPhee, not that becoming another Upshaw is a bad thing.
Just watched the above, which is every snap from both Smith and Bud Dupree from from Kentucky v Mississippi State.
It also struck me how he isn't very explosive off the snap....however there are a few occasions when he is 1 on 1 vs the left tackle and he tears him a new one ......although i have no idea if the Mississippi LT is actually supposed to be any good.....

I'm not sure how likely it is but I think this is an absolutely perfect scenario for us:
49ers and another/ multiple teams are in love with the same QB.
For example 49ers and Rams both want Goff and he is available when we are on the clock. If Rams make us an offer for our spot to jump above 49ers, we then ask the 49ers to match or better that offer just to make sure the Rams don't jump above them
So essentially 49ers would be 'overpaying' to jump one spot but in real terms it is worth it for them if they believe Goff is their guy and they believe Rams want him also
In that situation we would come away with extra picks (whatever they may be, I'm not sure), and we have only swapped with the team one below us, and since they are taking the QB, we have the exact same players available to us when we pick 10 mins later
A bit of a long shot but that would essentially be the perfect scenario- extra picks for free
