Put the time in to develop your football iq and perform. People don't care about the story, they want to see the result. After all it is just a ball game..
31 minutes ago, Fastynart said:I usually don't agree with these writers, but, in this case, it is true. The Ravens do not finish off anyone, nor do they score enough TDs when given the opportunities. They are terrible on short yardage situations and Flacco is too inconsistent to lead a sustained drive to the end zone. Harbaugh is a terrible clock manager, constantly blowing needless time outs, and Flacco is no better. Three times last Sunday the Ravens were either penalized for Delay of Game or a time out had to be called to prevent it. The Ravens have one more chance to actually win a game before the break and before the competition gets a lot more difficult. They have blown three opportunities for breathing room and let downs. Now, they once again have their backs to the wall and it is no one's fault but theirs.
It is their job to know and do. It is ours to see if they can. If they can't or don't, we stop watching.

Compare that with the offense under Kubiak, where he was under center far more often and was more successful. Not only did it provide the threat of a running game to open up play action and keep pass rushers honest, it allowed the Ravens to roll protection or have Joe bootleg to buy time against a pass rush. It also helped Joe's mechanics, making it less likely that he'd throw flat-footed / off of his back foot.
Against the Giants, he was under center for the first quarter and a half, then went predominantly to the shotgun after that. The results were predictable.Yep, and he was asked to throw it 48 times! There was more running this game, and I know that the play-action passing off of a typical run formation look helped contribute to the imbalance (and I'm OK with that), but we still need to run more. Either that or we needed to keep going to play-action because it was working. The one thing the coaching doesn't seem to do is to adjust to keep throwing what works at the opposing team until they prove they can stop it. MM was a little better than MT, but he still needed to keep at it more. Dean Pees does not seem to adjust well at all, especially when his corners started dropping like flies.
How to play football well, isn't a secret. Make the game simple for yourself, spend the hours, before and after practice. As a career not just something you have to do.

Not true and you know it. Does his best work in post season but you know that as well. Stop the griping and stop blaming the QB for everything wrong. He basically had no training camp and it will take time to get into a rhythm. It may well be 2 or 3 games down the road. At this point I would rather have Flacco at the helm. Some other teams in our division are not exactly killing their opponents either. The Browns just can't win, the Bengals are bungles and the Steelers are up one week and down the next.
You have to get to the post season first. There have been qbs that have done more with less than his ability or personnel. Everyone seems to be making the game more difficult than it needs to be.

Seems most of the league forgot how to play football.
I don't think it is odd the change came at 3-2 because even the three wins were barely wins. Just as we could be 5-0 we could also be 0-5 very easily. I was on twitter screaming for his termination after the Washington game because it seemed like we couldn't stand success. Whenever something was working it was almost like we deliberately did the opposite on offense. Flacco skills werent being utilized, instead he was asked to do those things that didn't suit his style. I think the big thing with Marty is what he said, identify our strengths, identify their weakness and keep them off-balance. I believe Mark had a system in his mind and didn't take into consideration that his style didn't suit the moving pieces he had to work with. There was clearly a level of frustration with the players and when players are frustrated, that shows in their play and to me it was obvious.
I think that we will do better, not because of changing for changings sake, but because I believe Marty better understands the moving pieces and as such will be better able to use their strengths. His experience in the league will help him identify the other teams weaknesses, giving him a much better understanding of what needs to be done. I look for the Ravens to just plain be a better team.
To be determined. Players just need to win most of their 1on1 duels.
LOL! The last two week's articles have been hilarious but I'd rather we get back to winning games!

"Game Plans" At the end of the day it is pitch and catch. People aren't getting open, the ball isn't where it needs to be. Yes, having a competent play caller helps, as a gamer you'd want to have full control. Let Joe call based on what he sees. If he can't do that, then we got the wrong quarterback. Joe and and co. need to get their timing down. Comes down to the players, not the coaches. Coaches are there as a reminder. Not to drastically alter football iq or ability. Things are as complicated as you let them.

you're basically asking him to be the offensive coordinator.
he's a special teams guy.
He made a hire, it didnt work, he replaced the guy.
what do you want?To possibly clarify... As a fan, I was screaming "why did we stop running the ball" during the game. As a head coach, harbs should've walked over and asked trestman wth is he doing
Have to be balanced, obviously. Coaches are put there to hold players accountable, call plays and point things out, not help them learn how to play football all over again. Let flacco call his own plays, see what happens.
beyond dumb.
What a story.. We all know where the ravens could save some money against the salary cap..

How much? Who knows? Osemele will be missed more, but Urschel is good and should get better. Worrying about Perriman, who hasn't even proven he can play in the NFL, is ridiculous. The question is how long do the Ravens keep this guy when he has shown nothing, and can't even get on the field without getting hurt? Elam should be the next to go. He flat out stinks.
While Monroe wasn't an elite LT, he was far from terrible when he played.
Actually Monroe graded out well in pass blocking but throughout his career routinely scored in the bottom of the league in run blocking.
When Monroe was on the field... Stanley's rookie miscues will outweigh Monroe's age, injuries..and contract... Wallace didn't have a quarterback to suit him....But he was still a better player than Torrey Smith is...Only if Boldin were kept..

He's injured. He's not injured...
It was sad to see the relationship devolve like that but I can understand both sides. Personally I find the whole "soft" talk pretty disgusting, it's not like he was ever out of shape he just couldn't stay healthy, injuries are a part of the game he couldn't prevent that and we couldn't predict it.
A real story....! ...Stretch.
Nice to hear.
But I think the "WILL BE FINE FOR 2016 SEASON" is a bit premature at this point... though we all hope it proves to be true.
Non story.
I see Aiken, Wallace and Moore headlining our receiving corps. Smith might make it back sometime, but, after a serious ligament tear you need at least 2 years to recoup in order to play at a top level. This year Steve will be inspirational motivation for the team and us fans ,but, not the physical player of past.
I certainly believe we will be a ground and pound team this season, using a great stable of backs and a top tier Te group.
Official?... Too bad. =\ Good thing we have depth and tight ends.

Can you? He isn't injured. .. If he does.. Nice curse.
Another dumb fluff story....... He was never injured........ Watch he does get hurt now.. and that costs... And everyone turns to this curse..
Taliaferro is likely gone, he has demonstrated no upside over Allen (who all considered similar, will be be given his chance to prove enhancement in his second year) taliaferro is like Marlon Brown last year but with fewer spots to keep him. West and Richardson will compete to be the power back and try to make the Ravens keep four running backs. West looked very good his first year in Cleveland he was at least as good as Crowell but they went to a weird split time system and that hurt both backs mental development. This inept management continued and led to West getting upset and in pettine's dog house. This caused problems leading to his disillusionment and release which didn't have time to instantly resolve in Jacksonville but which are countered by being with his hometown team and closer to his family support system here in Baltimore. All snippets from trusted sources indicate he spent his time training all off season at the castle. West is imho the most interesting back to watch this training camp and preseason. I love the native son storyline wherever but especially when it's my home too. Richardson is the wildcard, it will depend on his return to college form and will to play. Interesting to watch too, I really hope he does well. Dixon would have to play poorly, fumble constantly and have a poor attitude to get cut or not be IR'ed due to an injury that pops up.
Taliaferro.. Has been there 1 offseason... And Javorius " next step to be great " ... Has to get a roster spot first.. lol
No he didn't
someone tries too hard... roster is looking good though.
The Ravens have had good luck with guys like this.
Josh Wilson was an average corner in Seattle that was traded Baltimore, became a quality starter and earned a big contract in Washington.
Cary Williams was signed off of the Titans squad, was a starter for two years and left to get paid a lot of money to play in Philadelphia.
Corey Graham was only considered a special teams player in Chicago, but when Webb got injured Graham took over and he played an important part in the Ravens beating Denver in the playoffs. Then he left to play for Buffalo.
Let's hope Powers is another average corner that can become a star in Baltimore.
On a side note, I can't believe there is no mention of the Ravens releasing Marlon Brown, defensive end Nordly Capi, safety Nick Perry, and defensive back Jermaine Whitehead, to make room for Powers and draft picks Stanley, Kaufusi, and Reynolds. I know a lot of people like Brown, but I think it's time for the team to move on without him. I am actually more surprised the team let go of Perry before the preseason started.
This guy appears to be better than all those guys.
Hahaha, love the Batman Begins sequence. Hilarious as always, Mr. Rosen.

They have been big on drafting 'good people' over good players. When Modell first sat down with John, he said " You win with good people; smart, you can make them smart". That is good if you want a bunch of friendly co-workers, not if you want the best possible roster. They have to be plug and play. All our best drafted players are retired. To be honest, we have never drafted a good wr, bell cow outside JL and qb is to be determined right now. Should talk to the steelers about their WR / RB scouting.
