  1. 1964? Packers were leading 13-0 final 2 minutes 4th. quarter. Unitas threw a 48 yd. touchdown pass to Willie Richardson between the goalposts. We recovered the offside kick and Unitas hit Richardson same play same yardage between the goalposts. Lombardi went into a knee jerking spasm. We won 14-13. I will always love you, Willie. Rest in peace.
  2. Cross your fingers for another late contract dispute between Von Miller, his agent and the Denver Broncos; a phone call from Dumervil to seal the deal.
  3. It's fun in the sun. Like the old days when Otto Graham coached the college all stars. Nobody gets hurt. It's only supported by the Honolulu Chamber of Congress and the restaurant hotel syns. It's a complete waste of time.
  4. Marchibroda was a "nice guy coach" who was gracious, gentle and all that stuff. Both Ewbank and Shula weren't gentle nor nice when I saw them coach the Colts. They were tough as nails and would go for your jugular. Marchibroda wasn't those guys and will never enter the Coaches NFL Hall of Fame.
  5. After the zebras pocket their earnings, don't expect them to read the rule book.
  6. Younger fans can even ask their grandparents how it felt. I remember watching Sammy Baugh shove it down our throats (1952). I was 15. Even their marching band playing "Hail to the Chief" was better than our marching band. Over the past years, I've been getting the last laugh and loving it.
  7. Italians have, like Bisciotti, a sense of goodness. We make love not war. We live by Verdi opera. The only thing on earth where the heroine dies singing.
  8. Watch this guy closely. He will give Perriman a run for the money come training camp for number one. Unless the FO drafts another speedster. No one wants players on IR but it opened the door for Matthews and now that he showed his talent, it's more playing time. He will take Marlon Brown's place on the receiving corps maybe Campanaro.
  9. No matter how great Pitta's desire to play, sit him. He fell down untouched. Can it happen again? You say "no" only if you're an ostrich. Pitta is past tense. It's Williams, Boyd and Gilmore next year. Why is the FO, coaches tugging on our heart strings. This is starting to read like a Tele Novela. Drop the curtain.
  10. This was a season plagued by injuries. Do great teams survive them? I think so. We didn't have the depth to compete. It showed up all of preseason. We wound up wandering through the marketplace searching for washouts early on. Going into a NFL game with Clausen or Schaub as your starter was painful. Next season we rebuild and keep Osemele and hopefully Upshaw. If the Ravens lose their good players, repeat performance and back to the open market. Not a great team next season but in contention. Maybe the playoffs.
  11. Always the win, John. I agree with you.
  12. If the front office allows Osemele to go elsewhere, I, as one fan, will curse the day. He can play anywhere on the line. Not since Jim Parker have we been so blessed. There is always money to be had. It is a matter of loosening the purse strings or pass the collection plate.
  13. I was born "Old School". And a damn good Happy New Year to you Stampedehero.
  14. Just don't start that Packer crap of jumping up and having the end zone fans get their money's worth.
  15. I sort of remember ( oh yea!) this guy, George Blanda, Detroit Lions. He came to every game with a hang over and loved it. He also kicked winning field goals. Old school perspective: it doesn't matter the night before as long as your stomach doesn't get in the way of the football, and it was Atkins, rest in peace bro, who broke Unitas's nose. He was a monster.
  16. First time since '68. I still swallow that bitter pill ...go Jets!
  17. For feeding thought or fought. Flacco had a "once upon a midnight dreary" season. I never had, all mounting injuries combined, confidence in his reaching the receivers. He hit the other team once to often. Mallet, one game, I saw, pretty much, direct hits. The pass to Matthews was a gem you expect from Brady, Manning of old or that Packer guy. Sunday will cause a stir if Mallet comes up good. Stir the pot, baby. It's the business of pro football.
  18. Trestman is still in the hands of the jury. He's fighting to retain OC for '16. It's the players that make him look good. You have the four horseman...don't forget the seven mules with or without a coach.
  19. Since I live in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, flexing really doesn't matter. There are four Mexican TV stations that carry NFL football every Sunday besides Cable. I catch the Ravens seven, eight times a year. For a reason, The Baltimore Ravens are fan favorites south of the border. My Raven pull over is a wanted commodity. I guard it with my life.
  20. I don't care who throws the ball this Sunday. Just bring this agonizing season closer to an end. Start with Mallet finish with Clausen or visa versa. Then bring out the street cleaners to broom up the black feathers from the playing field. Following Sunday the same. Then shroud the coffin in black bunting for the funeral procession has reached the graveyard.
  21. Your arm will be A O.K. for playing NFL football. It's playing with your kids that has be shuddering.
  22. Four meaningless preseason games will always cause major injuries. Teams should meet the first time in regular season. Preseason ticket sales come first. Greedy NFL and the betting houses won't allow it. So live with some season ending injuries before Sept.
  23. Preston is one of the few Baltimore sports writers who writes it like it is. No, He's not John Steadman nor maybe Bob Maisel sports beat writer of the 60's 70's, but Preston is old school, voices his own opinion give a damn. He takes a lot of heat. Unlike our renowned bloggers, he doesn't ride the rail nor tat lace. Keep it up Big Mikey.
  24. Not really a losing season. If you visualize the challenges that have been dealt with: Harbaugh deserves a medal for standing tall and moving forward. Not just the overwhelming injuries but more important, keeping that winning "Play Like a Raven" attitude in the locker room and on the field. Harbaugh's pretty damn good.
  25. Nice analogy, John. Though, instead of Clarence getting his wings, Joe gets back up on his feet.
