  1. The above reads like a chummy, pals in buckskin, class reunion. Signed by the Chargers. Cut by the 49er's. I can't find anything, except he trains with Smith during the off season. Downing, give us some stats on this guy. Like what's he done over the last 5 years.
  2. Our Front Office is grasping at straws. You don't bring in an aging discard and expect wonders to happen or even a younger player to instantly be the game changer. Let's try to be patient. This horrible season ( 4-12?) will eventually end and it will become last year's conversation. The team will rebuild over the next few years and we will be in the thick of it again. Although, IMO, heads have to roll for this to happen. We restore our confidence in watching the rebuilding process. We have a nucleus. Young players will develop under the tutelage of a better coaching staff.
  3. I don't want to hear, ever again this year the Crown Royal radio commercial "as the Ravens bring home another victory". It ticks me off.
  4. "Not considering" means the question was mulled over. After the 49ers or the Cardinals kick the crap out of us on the road, maybe the FO will figure out that we don't have the men for the job. It's too late to save the season, but at least, we can re-right the ship with new offensive and defensive coaches in preparation for next year.
  5. We can criticize the players and gnash our teeth over the injuries. We can do that with certain justification. but The reason our team has fallen on its butt is the fault of the Front Office. This problem wasn't solved after the 2nd. half of the SB. It showed mightedly during last years playoff game against The Patriots and still treated like no real concern. Ozzie and his crew went to sleep. Don't blame the team for not having the heart to win. It starts in the castle. Before Cameron was fired, some of us fans were charging through the woods with pitchforks and torches. Where did I leave my whetstone and matches?
  6. Vick saved us from the 0-5. We saw this coming during the preseason. So why so shocked. We have no backups covering for the 1st. team: Mostly rookies and waning veterans on their last legs. This nightmare will raise it's ugly head for the remainder of the season. So why be shocked. Our FO threw out Boldin. That raised eye brows; and then Torry and Jacoby. Now our illustrious FO has to go into the marketplace to pickup rejects and retreads. Every team deals with injuries. You're right, John. We are not a playoff-caliber team right now. hopefully in a few years after major changes. Not just retooling, but a major overhaul.
  7. Cleveland will play us tough as always. They may even have an early lead. Our running game will produce points, not just exasperating field goals in the red zone. To win this game, with the Brown's lousy defensive line, our offense has to dominate the red zone and pound the ball into the EZ.
  8. Jack Youngblood, member of LA Rams "Fearless Foursome". There was also Deacon Jones, Marlon Olson and who was that fourth guy?
  9. We lost the Colts. The team went away but their heart and soul stayed with us. To say that their presence is not felt today means you weren't there on 33rd Street to see the greatest Quarterback of all time leading a great team. You who think that the Ravens got here on their own are too young to have lived through it. When the Ravens came to town, it took me half a season to stop saying "Colts".
  10. I agree, johnmike72. I don't ever want to read, ever again, that these guys were associated with Indianapolis; unless Mink is trying to make me puke. Then again what does he know about our legendary history. I saw them play every year from the get go. I can still see Gino chasing down Tarkenton. Lenny running six yds. backwards into the end zone and Raymond dragging his toes inside the out of bounds mark. Precious memories never to be forgotten.
  11. After reading through the above article, the ground game better not have a let down. Forsett, Taliaferro and Allen have to move the chains. I understand that the Browns have a weak defensive line. I hope it shows.
  12. I relish in the moment of a great win and sit back tomorrow, hoping that KC beats The Bengals. If defeating the Steelers injected the inspiration needed for going to the playoffs, well and done. The Ravens shouldn't lose to the Brown's after that "blood and guts" game. Who knows? I agree with the majority that our team hasn't lived up to high expectations so far.
  13. Eisenberg, you're alluding to childish phraseology trying to distract us from the obivious. The "schedule monster", really! Sounds like a character out of Sesame Street. Write it like it is. This is serious stuff. Our team is no good this year. It's not the schedule that's killing us. It's the lack of good players from bad drafts and pick ups off the street that have brought us down. Our secondary will continue to be shredded. Both offense and defense are stagnant. No, it's not the schedule. It's our inept coaches and a front office that pulled the castle shades and went for a very long sleep.
  14. Note to our new Offensive Coach: Somewhere out there in this great land of ours there lies a law firm that is in need of a barrister, a lawyer or solicitor of the lower courts. Go for it, Mark. You may be the next Clarence Darrow. Coaching football is not the vocation you want to truly persue.
  15. I saw this coming, as did other observing fans, through the preseason games. Even though our bloggers and in house sportwriters were giving us a green light to the SB. So are we really surprised. We played sloppy with no 2nd 3rd string backups. Outside of SSS, our WR's are below average. We gave up on Torry Smith, and Boldin is long gone and look at us now. Our running game is nowhere. When Flacco has to throw 49 times it shows. Sit back and brace for a long, sad season.
  16. This shows how many times we couldn't score a touchdown in the red zone. I'm programmed understanding that it will be three and out inside the ten and here comes Tucker. I'm thinking he will add four to his record tomorrow.
  17. The writers who write these blogs work for the org. They are probably told that criticizing a coach is a no no, and a boot out the door. Who tells the corners to play ten yds. off the receiver. Our red zone offense struggles. If "no phase of the unit is immune from scrutiny" does this include the coaches. Maybe its time to pick on them too rather then find excuses always on the playing field.
  18. No, we don't want to duplicate the mistake we just made. I hope that the baseball Giants and Diamond Backs have their own stadiums, so I won't have to wonder if Joe is completing a pass to third base or if Justin found a hole between shortstop and second. I mean really, watching dust bowl football from the 50'ties doesn't cut it. The Raiders and the A's play in the same hole???
  19. Not till Thursday night. We were planning to play Cinncy without Breshard so let's follow through on it. I think it's still too soon to go up against NFL opponents who would hit him hard just to say "welcome to the NFL rookie". I wouldn't want him out for another long time. Sunday is a must win, but not worth injuring our no.1 pick.
  20. Earl Weaver said that "when you lose a game you have to win two to make up for it". I don't want to be sweating it out come November knowing we have to win out to maybe make the playoffs as a wildcard. The Ravens have to win Sunday. Every game is a must win in our division, Sarah. We can't play catch up in the AFC North. The question is can we beat the other teams in our division? Come Sunday, we'll get a feeling for it.
  21. Our defense disintegrated, yesterday. No pass rush that allowed a 2nd.yr.QB to stand back there and carve us up at leisure. He's no Big Ben nor Dalton. The corners play so far off they should be given spyglasses. This season could be over rather quickly. Repeat performances the next two weeks and we're 0-4. I bought into the preseason hype and believed we could go to the SB. Now, I think the window could close on a winning season.
  22. Why even keep mentioning each week that Perriman is out. We all know that. Mink, you don't have to make it sound like great expectations coming sometime in October or whenever. When he hits the field, surprise us.
  23. The Ravens cut a promising up and coming young QB for a guy who's dossier reads like a coast to coast railroad conductor. Eight cities in seven years. Wow, well traveled. I'll miss Renner and maybe so will the Ravens. I'm scratching my head on this one, as like Torrey Smith.
  24. First game, I'm willing to overlook the offensive fiasco in Denver. Offensive line will get it together. The question is when? That's Castillo's job. It's obvious that we have a glaring problem at WR. We lost our speedster and everything else is set in slow motion. Torrey didn't catch every ball thrown to him, but he got out there. So did Jacoby. Damm, I miss those guys. If we don't explode in Oakland, I will come down on Trestman. I don't want him explaining that smoke got in their eyes from the wildfires.
  25. forliferaven: do you remember JO pounding this guy into the grass or spreading his arms to drown Freeny's swim moves. This guy played for Indy. Irsay's team. He wore our uniforms even the horseshoes. I go back to 1952 so don't tell me we need somebody from that Freakin' city. Go Ravens..
