About Me

Well, I always find these 'about me' sections a tad awkward. Just kinda strange talking about 'yourself'. That being said, I bleed purple and black, LOVE my Ravens . I 'USED' to bleed orange & black, too. But, with Peter 'the antichrist of MLB' Angelos destroying our team, I'm rather ashamed to even mention 'em. I'm still bitter about the BALTIMORE Colts ordeal, but who isn't?!  When you grow up in Baltimore, in a sports oriented family, the Colts were a way of life. My dad was by far,THEE biggest Colts fan on the planet. He even had a tryout with the Colts when he got outta high school. He also had tryouts with the Jets and Steelers, too. But, bad knees held my dad back on the field, and ended his chances at the pros.

My dad sold sporting goods in Baltimore for years. He sold uniforms and equipment to a lot of the Colts and Orioles players, back in the early to mid '70's. My dad actually sold Jim O' Brien the cleats he wore in Superbowl V, to kick the winning field goal against Dallas. Jim's cleats had to be special ordered, due to the different cleat size he wore on each foot. My dad was the only salesman in the area, who could get the cleats special ordered in time for the game. After selling sporting goods, my dad was a semi-pro football head coach for a few teams in the Baltimore and Pennsylvania areas. As a young kid, I remember being on the sidelines doing the chains etc....and looking up at all these huge monsters. I knew from then on, football would always be in my blood. I only wish my dad were still here to enjoy Ravens football. I was fortunate enough to be there with my dad for the first Ravens game they ever played against Oakland, at Memorial Stadium.

I'm also a pretty big into music...Rush and Metallica are my favorite bands, by far. I love the '80's rock scene, to only be able to go back in time. Damn, I miss the '80's!  I played drums in a few garage bands back in the day. Still dabble on my kit when I get some free time. I won the grand prize from a 98 Rock radio contest back in '87...I was a 'roadie for the day' at a Rush concert held at the old Cap Centre in Landover. I got to meet and eat dinner with Rush, it was freakin' AWESOME!!! Still have my concert shirt/SIGNED ticket/tour book and backstage pass. The guys were super cool, no phony act there at all. They treat their fans with the utmost respect. The opening band, MSG were super cool, too. It was definitely a day/night I'll cherish forever.

When the Orioles had a traveling basketball team during the offseason back in the late '70's-early '80's, they played at a local high school directly across the street from my house, at the time. It was a cold/snowy February night, so I went with a friend who lived up the street. Well, growing up, my hero was Eddie Murray. And, just as luck would have it, he was playing in the game that night. Long story short, after the game ended my friend and I were down by the locker room getting a drink of water out of the fountain. When, to my complete surprise, who's standing only a few feet away from me?  Eddie freakin' Murray!!!  I brought a baseball with me that night, just in case I got to meet some players. Not only did I get Eddie's autograph, but he actually took time out to talk to me. He asked me, if I knew where the bathrooms were. LOL  There was nobody left in the place, just Eddie and the late great Orioles' trainer, Ralph Salvon. Needless to say, they both signed my baseball, and were really super nice guys. I still have that baseball, too! Say what you will about Eddie's dislike for the media. (I mean, can you really blame him?!)  He was one of the greatest switch hitters to EVER play the game. And, a true gentleman off the field. EDDIE EDDIE EDDIE!!!

Well, that's about it for 'me'!  Oh, my grandmother once dated 'Curly' from the Three Stooges. How's that for cool?!  I could've been related to a 'Stooge'!   :)

Quick side note...What's the deal with certain 'people' on these forums, thinking they rule/run the damn thing?!  I mean, reading their comments is absolutely hysterical. I swear, they truly must think/believe, the front office will see their comments, and offer them a gig right on the spot. These internet wannabe GM's are too funny!  In conclusion, the REAL front office, truly [profanity deleted] up when they let Boldin go!
