  1. Havent any you all learned by now that PFF is pretty much a joke. They dont know what they are talking about and they just want to fleece individuals for money that are dumb enough to think they do.

Well we obviously don't have to pay for them because they post them on here every week.  I would really like to hear more about why you think they are a joke.  Read this .. https://www.profootballfocus.com/about/how-we-grade/and tell me how grading every single play that a player plays throughout the whole season is a joke.  When you look at peoples PFF grades at the end of the year it is an accurate assessment of each players skills.  The people that don't understand PFF are the people that diss it, especially when they think a player that they like should get a higher grade. The only thing that PFF can't grade is effort and character.

  2. I did not say htat it was "because"...  For the little amount of time he as in...  single digit snaps before going down, doesn't warrant that grade.

Well somebody took the time to look at each of those plays and watched only what Crockett was doing on each one, and gave him a grade on his performance.  Then another person that was also fixated on Crockett, watched all of his plays and gave him a grade.  They then came together, looked at each others notes and gave him the final grade for the game.  It doesn't mean Crockett is a bad player, it just means that for those seven plays where he was on the field (mostly were blocking plays) he made more mistakes than he had positive plays.  But i see what you are saying.  When you have such a small sample size it is difficult to pass judgement on a player based solely on a handful of plays.  I mean if he finished the game, the grade would be totally different (probably in the plus category) because it would be taking into consideration a larger amount of plays.  I wouldn't discount PFF as a tool to measure a players success though.  Really the best barometer of a players success is given at the end of the year.  This number totals up all of the game grades and gives the player a grade for the season.  The larger sample size and all of the data that is contained in this final number is one of the best ways to evaluate a players success.

  3. That was my point...  He made a great play... got injured making the play, and then went out and didn't come back in.  1st quarter.

Sure but his PFF grade wasn't based soley on that play.  It was based on all of the plays (not very many) where he was in the game before he went out.  Even the plays where he was just blocking or running decoy routes.

  4. Lets draft hargreaves in the 1st round we need this kid true shutdown corner back to go across j. smith and 2nd round we need to get a wr like tyler boyd or mike williams or Will fuller. 3rd round get a pass rusher and we need to trade a couple 4th round comp picks to move down to 3rd round and get a oline man.

Do you like Hargraves over Ramsey?  I think they're both going to be shut down corners and at this point I don't know who iI would pick.  Does anyone else have some insight on this?

  5. OK.... the PFF Grades.... now I can actually say that I can discount them as being somewhat of a non-factor for me... Giving Crockett a -2 when he goes down in the first quarter with an injury wouldn't necessarily constitute a negative grade in my book. Just sayin guys.

He didn't get a bad PFF grade because he went out with an injury.  He got a bad PFF grade because when he was on the field he didn't do well.  "Didn't do well" can be missing a block, or running a bad rout, or even dropping the ball.  PFF dedicates two employees to grade every single snap that a player takes in a game.  Each snap is graded on a scale from -2 to 2.  These numbers are added up after the game, and the total is the PFF grade for that game.  Its a pretty good system to evaluate players because every snap is looked at. I didn't do a great job explaining it but this link pretty much sums up everything.     https://www.profootballfocus.com/about/how-we-grade/

  6. With everything going wrong this year that cannot be helped, this is something that is inexcusable...... These players know the rules, and trying to bend or get around them, or just ignoring them really hurts the other players..... It is really hard for me as a fan to forget about this with a player as well, going forward........

i doubt he did this on purpose.  a lot of things that test positive for peds are things you could''t imagine your not supposed to take

  7. Here we go again with the Daniel Brown haters smh.

What do you have against players coming from a lower level college? Webb came from a "lower level college" as you like to call them. I like to call them "small schools"

So you can go ahead and take your Matt Elam big college players, i'll keep my eyes on the real players we have, whether they are small school or large school...........cant believe you judge players based on how big their college is bro smh.

Jerry Rice an Walter Payton both came from small colleges.

Other notable players from small schools...

    1. Joe Flacco - Delaware

    2. jared Allen - Idaho State

    3. Marques Colston - Hofstra

    4. London Fletcher - John Carrol

    5. Adam Vinatieri - SD State

relax there buddy, i was just saying DB was raw coming out a small school thats all.  And that it took some time for him to develop his rout running.  no reason to get hostile.  i like dan brown .i just think its going to be tough for him to make the team next year.  hopefully he will.  you can't start saying he's a superstar with only one nil game under his belt.  lets be realistic .  looks like i touched a nerve, sorry

  8. Bro I said that back during pre season, soo many guys on here would quote me saying "its only preseason" and "if he was really that good the coaches would have him out there" smh.

Unfortunate that some of our fellow fan members are satisfied with the bone that they are thrown from the coaches. I see past it, and also can tell when someone makes an error. D.Brown should have been in our lineup since day 1, but Harbaugh has his head stuck in the dirt.

It really wouldn't have made sense to put him on the active roster day one.  The guy came from a lower level college so he probably needed to refine is technique.  He really only got brought up  because of injuries to other players.  I hope he turns into something special but the odds are against him.

  9. I would love to sign Mallet and see if his cannon of a arm works with this offense.....Nothing to lose, lets start auditioning certain position players....And i will say West is going to give TF a run for his money next year, Harbs loves how violently he runs, and so do i.....Would love to see KO get reps at LT at some point...Just a lot of experimenting the coaching staff can do now...

I don't know if it make sense to bring in a QB right now.  He would barely have anytime to understand the playbook.  KO should stay at guard for multiple reasons.  His natural position is at guard.  This is because he doesn't have the athleticism to block speed rushers off the edge.  Right tackle is more feasible, but it really wouldn't make sense to switch him their either.  Its also very hard for a player to switch positions in the middle of the season.  The casual NFL fan doesn't quite understand this  (which is why this keeps getting brought up), but LG foot work is drastically different from LT footwork.  Another reason not to move him is because signing him next year will be that much harder if he receives an LT salary.

  10. The one thing that I can honestly criticize Ozzie for is not keeping the important staff guys we've had throughout the years that made this team what it was. Whether it is our scouts or coaches, a lot of them have left. If you check our scouts, a lot of them are in their 1st and 2nd years, which is a topic worth a discussion (article)

Its really not Ozzies fault..  It is directly related to our success. Personnel on successful teams get cherry picked by unsuccessful teams.

  11. LOL the fact that you think that you have to take the best player on the board shows how much you know. You think when the raiders drafted darrious heyward bey in the first round of the 2009 draft anyone besides them thought that he was better than Michael crabtree who was still available? Nope but they still picked him. So much for your best available theory huh? LOL your funny

Not all teams take the best player available.   Soo how well did it work for the Raiders when they did NOT take the best player available?  Hayward Bey = BUST.  They have a history of terrible draft practices.  The fact that you would use that as an example is laughable.

  12. Jernigan and T brooks are both bust, if you cant stay healthy then what good are you in this league? and Really, you really dont think upshaws a bust? how long has he been on this team and hasnt improved in the least bit. Hes a waste of a roster spot and most likely wont be on the team next season. I remember that draft vividly to because I was praying for us to draft rueben randle who eventually went to the giants. We couldve taken any number of WRs in the draft but nope classic ozzie goes defense and Alabama like he always does. Ozzies washed up

Jernigan starts. has he missed a few starts? sure, but not enough to consider him a bust.  And Upshaw, you really must not know the Ravens very well.  He has started almost every single game since he was drafted.  He replaced Jarret Johnson as OLB run stuffer.

  13. I would draft a franchise corner in the first round. Because we dont have one. Hopefully one of those corners out of flordia come out. Ive lost all faith in webby hes washed up and jimmy walked into that big contract he got because he was injured most of his rookie contract and he fooled everyone by showing flashes, but its clear to see now hes not that guy we can rely on. hes not a number one corner

It doesn't work that way.  And the fact that you think it does shows just how much you know about the draft.  You have to take the best player on the board.

  14. ozzie needs to draft better players. This season is a reflection on the lack of talent on the team hes put together. All the practice squad and under the radar small school guys he trys to find lighting in a bottle with isnt working. Hes failed us as fans. We might need a new gm

This is truly a ridiculous statement.  Oz is one of the best in the game.  If he got fired plenty of teams would want to hire him.

  15. the refs fault again, right?  at some point people need to look past the bad calls and realize that this team has had so many chances to win but THEY didn't pull through.  you're lying to yourself if you are solely blaming the referees. Aaaaaand let the negging commence.  sometimes the truth is too hard to hear.

  16. One year does not make a good football player. Just look M Brown who had all those touchdowns and now many on here call to get rid of him. The whole problem with the Ravens is CONSTIENCY. Look at Jimmy Smith, Webb, and Monrow. Are they today worth the money? Heck give Williams the BIG contract for one year performance.

You continue to go off on tangents.  First you compared Haloti and Brenndans entire career.  Now you're talking about giving Williams a contract.  The argument is simple and you are trying to make it complicated.  Here it is....  Williams is playing better than Haloti this year.  It is that simple.  We are not comparing careers or talking about contracts.  And I will say it again to make sure you get it.  What i said was THIS year Williams is playing BETTER than Haloti.

  17. Monroe is doubtful even when he plays.

There is a misconception on this forum that Monroe is a poor player.  It is not true (everyone likes to whip the whipping boy).  If he plays, (i know thats a big if) he has earned a positive PPF grade.  He is our bests option at LT because Hurst is one of the worst tackles in the league according to PFF. Its hard to believe that when he does play that the "Monroe Haters" are even watching him play.  Who focuses on the left tackle the whole game besides PFF.  I think people are just frustrated that he is not playing, so hating on him has become the popular thing to do.

  18. Brandon Williams is good but Ngata's stats put him way above Brandon. Just look at their first three years in the league. Nice to bring Ngata back and Suggs, Brandon, and Doomerville. Now that would be awesome. Brady would never stop crying.

Past stats have no relevance.  Brandon Williams NOW, is better then Haloti Ngata is NOW.

  19. if monroe is hurt or injured than throw him on ir with the other 20 guys we have on there and keep letting these young kids get the experience. give osemele a shot at LT the rest of the season

Why does everyone keep saying, "put Osemele at left tackle".  It is a ridiculous idea.  His natural position is at guard.  He does not have the athletic ability to stick with speed rushers off of the left side.  The casual fan may think that its no big deal to switch positions in the middle of the year, but it is very difficult.  The footwork is totally different.  He is currently playing gaurd where he could be a pro bowl player.  To switch him to a position  that he has never played in the nfl is laughable.  Although I doubt that we will be able to keep him next year, it would make it even tougher to keep him if we had to pay him a LT salary.  Can we please put the kibosh on this whole moving to LT thing.   It is possible we could play him at RT but it really doesn't make any sense to move him there either.  SWITCHING POSITIONS ON THE OFFENSIVE LINE IS NOT SO EASY ask Michael Oher.

  20. Another good article. Regarding the road trip following Monday's game, to be fair, the League did grant the team's request for back-to-back west coast games both times. Not that that worked out for us, but they did grant the request. Can't have everything, I suppose.

the Ravens asked to play Oakland and Sanfran in back to back weeks and the league didn't grant them that.
