Was it just speculation that if they moved up to get one of those receivers then it would cost this much, yada yada?? It didn't have anything to do with the FO strategy on draft day.

Well if you mean eventually... Crockett Gilmore is the most likely to leave after this year because his contract is up. I dont see Williams or Boyle being let go before their contracts are up as long as Boyle can stay off the suspension list and they both stay healthy. I wouldn't necessarily use the label "axed" to describe a player not being resigned after his contract is up though. And unfortunately not everyone that makes it to the NFL can be great, but I'm sure that's what their mothers tell them.

No, I don't think upset over Receivers, the top 3 were gone by the time the Ravens picked. Also, 3 Quarterbacks were taken and OJ Howard fell to us. A great TE (Sharpe, Heap) and Running Game is also what the Ravens were known for besides a Great Defense. I mean that's great, but you also have a bunch of young TEs on the roster already, so do we just throw them away? There's what we WERE known for, and there's what we are NOW known for. They don't have to be the same thing. We didn't used to be a team that invested heavily in the QB position. Now we are, and so are all the consistent good teams in this league. Times change. Teams change. We have a bunch of Tight Ends that were on Injured Reserve last year, Ben Watson 37 in December, Williams and Gilmore. One who is more of a blocking tight end who has been suspended 2 times and one more will be out of the league. Pitta who is one of my favorites but he gets no YAC. Tight End is still very important in the NFL and its not one of the Ravens Strengths as so many people beleive. If Pitta stays healthy, he is good. He might not get the YAC but he makes contested catches and moves the chains. I like Boyle, he has a chance to be great if he stays out of trouble. I think Williams will end up being a bust and Watson is definitely questionable after an achillies injury, but we shall see. But the one nobody is talking about is Darren Waller. Im pretty high on him. Hes big, hes got decent speed and he can catch. Also if Gillmore stays healthy, he is good too. I think a combination of Pitta, Gillmore, Waller and Boyle is a good group. Pitta and Waller will be consistent. Gillmore may get hurt and if that trend continues, we may have to cut ties. But I don't see a problem with Pitta, Waller and Boyle (proided he doesn't get suspended) Easy on that Blue Hen drank. Boyle has the chance to be great? I think he has a chance to be good and I think he will be a big contributor to this team, but using the term great is a bit over the top. It is extremely unlikely that we would cut Maxx. He would have to have an absolutely terrible camp for the FO to release a second rounder in his 3rd year. Even though he has only played 1 year that one year was much more impressive than Art Browns first 2 and we kept him a third year. You cant just write him off because he was injured last year and your a Delaware fan. I know its hard to think back that far but he showed promise in his rookie season...He actually made some really spectacular catches while working with 3 different QBs. He actually has more receptions than Boyle who has played more games. Not that, that necessarily means anything. I think they will both be on the team and they compliment each other well. Williams is your more athletic pass catching TE and Boyle is more of your blocking TE who I expect to take over a lot of Juices blocking duties. But they are both well rounded guys and should be able to contribute this year.

If intelligence and body weight were the only factors that determined a centers skill level, every team would have a pro bowler. I think it would be great if either Jensen or Urchel become starters this season, but I won't be surprised if they don't. Both of them were projected as 7th rounders coming out of college for a reason. And unfortunately that reason had to do with on field issues rather than off field issues.

If those options fall through maybe we could trade ESPN Ben Watson for Steve Smith.

Well unfortunately being 6'5" does not automatically mean you are going to be a good receiver. Being 6'5" and running a 4.3 doesnt mean you are going to be good either (Tommy Streeter, Stephen Hill, Matt Jones, and many many more). The Seahawks did cut him for a reason after his Superbowl performance.

I think Camp knows hes on thin ice. He has been in the league for 3 years and has only managed to play in 11 games. He was released from the team last year and we brought in Danny Woodhead who has a similar skill set. Im rooting for the guy but its definitely going to be an uphill battle. Interestingly enough when we released him last year both NE and Den showed some interests. Which could mean that if he doesn't make the squad he may still have a chance somewhere else unless of course the reason that we let him go was due to injury.

My argument wasnt about your thoughts on Harbaughs coaching abilities. My rebuttal to your argument was that if Harbaugh were to be let go after the season, he would not have to go back to the College ranks to get a job and that there would be plenty of teams in the NFL that would be interested in his services as a HC. My second argument isnt about how the O Line will perform this year. My argument is that with 3 months until the begging of the season, and with only 3 rounds of the draft in the books, it is way to early to label position groups in a negative or positive way. Anything could happen between now and then. We could pick up Mangold, or a guy that gets cut, and really the possibilities are endless. And without knowing who will start this year its extremely difficult to make predictions about the OL performance. It's not rocket science what going to take place" In 2011 the Ravens lost both Jared Gaither and Ben Grubs to free agency at the end of the season. So in 2012 Oher moved to LT, we drafted KO who played at RT (he switched to LG in the playoffs) and we picked a 36 year old veteran in Bobby Williams to start at LG. The LG position that year was a revolving door. Both Ramone Harrwood and Jah Reid played at that position at times during the regular season. And that OL with two new starters got us to the SB. They weren't the best OL in the league, but they played well as unit that year, even with the constant changes at LG. And I am sure I could find a lot more instances where an OLine had 2 new starters and played well. I even think that I could find a line that played well with 3 new starters from the previous year. your argument - "Kyle was Joe's best blocker among TE. He gone." For starters I don"t think that is an accurate statement, especially because we have two of the biggest TEs in the league with Gilmore and Boyle. But what really gets me about that statement is that you continually made comments about how terrible of a blocker that Kyle was last year through out the entire season. And even after the season ended and he was rated as the best FB in the league, you were still adamant about the fact that he was an awful blocker. And that was only 2 months ago.

Crusader what you have have put up arguments that have nothing to do with my assertion. Thats a completely valid argument and I agree with all of that. And I think there have been multiple instances when he has made poor choices in teh coaching department. Deciding to stick with Trestman last spring only to let im go is another example of that. Im not all the confident in Martys abilities at this point either. I think Trestman was an odd choice since the beginnin. Joe had one of the best seasons of his career under Kubiak, and i thought picking another M Shanahan disciple would be the obvious choice.

you know if harbs don't make the playoffs there is no next year for him right I'm happy with our picks except Chris Wormley Ive seen him play a lot and he lacks production and takes plays off so IMO this was a reach I don't think Harbaugh feels such a pressure - even if he was fired from Baltimore, he'd have a new HC gig in a day. Even with his rather pedestrian last 3 seasons, his overall track record is still rather impressive. I would not bet on John getting a head job in the NFL. He'll have to go back to college. John done nothing since Ed and Ray left but fire coaches and Kubiak proved the players were not the problem. The failed draft picks also signed part of John's fate. I don't see John going anywhere. The wheels would have to completely come off. Joe on the other hand is going to get beat up in more ways than one. Right or wrong. You do realize that your inability to be objective puts a lot of your comments in the irrational zone. You are so eager to hate everything the Ravens coaches and FO do, that you are unable to realistically view them the way that the rest of the league does. And of course there are guys on the other side of the objectivity spectrum too. They are the "purple koolaid" guys, but because you are sooo far on the other side of the spectrum, you label the people who make rational and objective comments as homers. Some of the things you say are just not based in any type of reality. Rex Ryan got a head coaching job right after the Jets let him go. And his time with the Jets was far less impressive than Johns. Andy Reed is in the same boat. John has made it to the playoffs a higher percentage of the time than Reed did in Philly. He has won a Superbowl, and has won the same amount of playoff games in 9 years, than Reed did in 14 years with the Eagles. And there are countless other examples of coaches having far less success than John, that have become a head coach for another team the season after they have gotten fired from another team. It is completely fair to talk about moving on from Jim and other guys in the FO if we dont have a good season. It is completely relevant and rational discussion to have. But to think that their wont be any teams that will be in line for JHs services as a head coach just isn't based in reality. But on top of that you are saying that he will have to go back down to the college level to get a job and thats crazy. And on top of that when you wrote this we were only 3 rounds into the draft with more than 3 months till the first game starts and you think we should throw in the towel already because Joe is going to get "beat up" because we didnt draft an OL in the first 3 rounds. You are wrong in this case the vast majority of the time because of your bias. And than every so often you say something really interesting and insightful that makes a lot of sense only to fall off the rails again.

Yea Z is going to have to bring his A game. Its possible we could keep 5 OLBs but its definitely not a certainty. I like Z hopefully he has been working on his pass rushing moves. Another factor will be his special team play.

I much rather would have had Jordan Willis, but Bowser actually has legitimate talent in comparison to KC😂 Jordan Willis has great strait line speed but that isnt a big factor for edge defender. He is a fighter but he isn't very explosive or twitchy. Similar to Kruger but more pro ready than he was. The Krug spent a lot of time on the sidelines in his first 3 years. But I do think JW would have been the safer pick he is certainly more pro ready than Bowser but Bowser has a much higher ceiling. It looks like we will be seeing JW twice a year though. It will be interesting to see how the two grow over the next few years.

Thats a possibility. There will also be some UDFAs that could be intruding. But if the FO thought it was neccessary there are teams with way too many WR on their roster so we could go that route. The Eagles WR core looks pretty bloated at the moment. There are also other vets out there besides Q. I dont think V Jackson has signed with a team yet.

Well depth is important. No one is consistently picking starters in the 6th and 7th rounds, that just the nature of the beast. And the amount of spots that you would be able to move up by trading 6s and 7s is negligible. Its easy to say that we should have moved up to grab one of those OL in hindsight, but no one could have anticipated the run OL leading up to our pick. But the roster isnt set there are a lot of options out there. Your Mangolds and Boldins and also it looks like there is going to be some pretty good interior lineman that we might be able to pick up that aren't going to be drafted. Maybe the Browns would be willing to throw us a couple draft picks if we take Cam Erving off their hands. lol Unfortunately his performance with us wouldn't be any different to what it was with the Browns but I would take those picks lol.

Since no modern day starting QB has ever taken less money than what was agreed upon in his contract, I would say no. It always going to be the same answer for you guy. Whether you are asking if we could trade Joe to Cleveland for their first round picks this year, or If we could just cut Joe and pick up Jay Cutler and Alshon Jeffery the answer to all of your questions is always going to be NO.

This is a solid pick. I know some people were high on Z Banner but this was the right move. If Zach Banner ever starts for the Colts its going to be because they have a lot of injuries on the OL and its not going to be pretty. Converting a 6 9 guy to OG is tough and with his inelasticity and girth he is going to have a tough time getting into a three point stance. And to top it off this guy has come into camp way over weight in each of the years he has played at USC.

I think we are good in the TE department. Butt isnt a really explosive play maker either.
