  1. 1. I'd never classify any draft pick as a HOF type player until proven otherwise. I haven't heard anything about Tunsil that I haven't heard before about various prospect LTs. Some of them became very good, and some of them struggled for years. 2. I have zero idea why people are convinced Dallas is taking a QB at #6, because frankly, it would shock me if they did. I'm not even sure there's a franchise QB in this entire draft class to be honest, and I don't see Dallas taking one to sit on the bench for 2-3 years, which is what will happen. I'd handicap the Browns taking a QB at #2 at 50/50 to be honest, because again, I just don't see who this quality QB is that teams are supposed to fall in love with. I get the whole "you need a QB in this league" idea, and I agree with it, but that doesn't mean you just keep drafting them over and over again and hoping to hit. Cleveland could very easily and justifiably determine that day 2 QBs aren't that much different than day 1 QBs in this draft (and I'd probably agree with that), so it wouldn't make much sense to take one at #2. Has all the makings of Dallas using a day 2 or 3 pick on a QB, particularly when they probably are legitimate SB-level contenders this upcoming season if they are healthy. Dallas taking a QB is about the most talked about topic currently, especially at the Senior Bowl. Would you rather start a QB who isn't ready on what is deemed to be a "win now city", or groom one as much as you can before Romo has to hang it up. BTW Romo retiring might be sooner than later, based on his ability to finish the season strong over the last few years and his re-injury history. Clearly the backup QB play is what landed them the 4th overall pick. Everyone in the NFL scouting community seems to believe that Carson Wentz has all the tools you would look for in a successful NFL QB, and it is clear that the QB is the most sought after position in the NFL. Maybe they prefer a guy who will fall to the second Round, but everyone has them all over Wentz. It is merely wishful thinking that both Dallas and Cleveland take a QB with their first picks, but everyone seems to believe that is the most likely outcome. To me Manziel is not even an option for teams, until he can prove that he can put football first. I think he ends up somewhere as a backup again under an established vet. Tunsil will be dominant. There isn't anything else I need to say other than the fact that he is the best player in the draft and he will be the 1st player taken. Luke Joeckel and Eric Fisher and Matt Kalil. These OTs were takin at 2, 1 and, 4 respectively and none of them has panned out. Fisher was also considered the best player in the draft and he has been anything but dominant. There are plenty of other names I could have listed there that have been taken early in the first and not panned out. OT is a crap shoot. There are no Joe Thomas' or JOs in this draft.
  2. Ragland could play either OLB or ILB in the NFL. He played strong side LB in the Senior Bowl, but he could be a run-stuffing ILB too like he was in college. He has been compared to Hightower, who is good vs the run and not useless in coverage, unlike Upshaw. I wouldn't say that Hightower is great in coverage, Jamie Collins yes but Hightower is average at best. The difference between Hightower and Ragland is that Hightower runs a 4.52 and Ragland runs a 4.62. It doesn't seem like much but it will make a difference. Ragland will have tremendous difficulty trying to cover anyone in this league.
  3. There actually was a notice on the forum page for several days indicating when they would be making this change. unfortunately I haven't the slightest clue as to what the forum page is or how to get there
  4. Rookie salary cap is different from the team salary cap. It won't save any money. Scroll down to the last question here..... http://russellstreetreport.com/salarycap/nfl-salary-cap-faqs/
  5. I can only thumbs up/down in the forum section. In the main article I cannot even see a up/down option. I don't see a thumbs up or thumbs down anywhere ...... I am just about completely lost in this format ? You would think they would have given us a warning about this or something instead of just springing this on us. You would also think there would be some type of explanation for the changes. I mean there are a ridiculous amount of mods on this site (who most likely knew this was coming) and they are being unusually quiet.
  6. Ragland is more of a inside backer (he is a liability in coverage) and more of a run stuffer. Upshaw and Ragland have similar forty times so we wouldn't be gaining any speed by drafting him.
  7. there are a lot of people in this world that are 6'2" and weigh 215 pounds. Measurements don't mean that someone is going to be an elite receiver. First off treadwell is slower than the elite receivers in the league. Now speed doesn't always mean that a receiver isn't going to be great. ODB isn't the fastest guy but he knows how to run routes very well. Laquans routes leave a lot to be desired. He rarely gets separation (which is key to being an elite receiver). He is more of a jump ball kind of guy (which isn't a bad thing) but if you are picking at six the guy had better be able to get separation on a regular basis.. But like i said, I wouldn't be apposed to trading back and picking him up a bit later in the draft.
  8. the idea that you see Laquon Treadwell as a "bonafide stud" is utterly ridiculous. There are no receivers comparable to the ones that you have mentioned in this draft. Just because he is the best WR in this class doesn't mean he is going to turn into a superstar like your Larry Fitz, Julio Jones and ODBs. And yes as of now he would be a reach at six. The combine could change this but as of now I would only take him if we moved back in the draft a little bit.
  9. laquon treadwell is not a bonafide stud. Comparing him to Fitz Jones and ODBjr is ridiculous. This wide Receiver class doesn't have any "bonafide studs". Its a week class especially up front.
  10. I don't really see that as a possibility at all, but if it were to happen, I would happily accept a second round pick.
  11. When Dean was with the patriots they ran the 3-4. There are very few DCs that switch from 4-3 to 3-4 or vice versa. If you can find any examples of this I would love to know about them. This site tells you the types of defenses that teams have utilized and in what year they were utilized. Like I said, if you can find a DC that flip flops between defenses I would love to know about it. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/nwe/
  12. I mean I'm sure the guy knows enough about a 3-4 defense to coach one. Heck maybe we actually switch to the 4-3, stranger things have happened. Although both of these scenarios are pretty unlikely, i actually think poor old Arthur Brown would do better in a 4-3 defense as a will linebacker.
  13. Are you insinuating that Frazier could be in line for the DC job at some point? You do realize that he is a specialist in the 4-3 tampa 2 defense (he has never been a DC or HC in a system other than the 4-3 tampa 2). If he became the DC it would necessitate a total change in defensive philosophy. Not to mention a total overhaul of our defensive personnel.
  14. there is no way you put a guy with Z smiths measurables in the middle. He is a prototypical OLB/DE hybrid. Inside guys in the 34 usually have less length and weigh in the 240 to 250 range. I mean he could come up the middle on a twist or another stunt but there is no way you play the guy at ILB. You have to let a guy like that use his size and length on the edge against the OTs.
  15. We do give some 4-3 looks in our hybrid system. But switching to a totally different defensive philosophy is really easier said than done. Out of the top five defenses during the regular season only one uses a 4-3 scheme (Seattle) and the cards run a 3-4.
  16. where have you seen that he is being projected to be on the inside. he has the measurable to be an outside guy. i mean he could be an inside guy but his measurable are more in line with a OLB. i really don't know much about this years draft so i could just be out of the loop. http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=128150&draftyear=2017&genpos=OLB
  17. hey bio would you by chance know what draft picks we have this year. I know we don't know the compensatory picks yet, but didn't we do some pick swapping for Gino Gradkowski and even for that UDFA center that we sent to the niners. I can't find this info anywhere. Cheers
  18. i can dig that
  19. he is 4-3 tampa 2 kind of guy, I'm not sure that would suit our defense.
  20. When they drafted him the Texans ran a 4-3. I mean the guy is 6'7 and out of college he weighed 295 pounds. His natural position is DE in 4-3 scheme (He is also probibly big enough to play DE in a 3-4 system but at that position you wouldn't be able to utilize his speed). But you're right when wade phillips was the DC they did switch to 3-4. Im not saying he can't play OLB. He is just better suited at DE.
  21. The only issue with that is that for the past 10 years (maybe longer) we have been drafting players that fit a 3-4 defense. There are major differences between an OLB in a 3-4 and a DE in a 4-3. The defensive tackles and linebackers also differ greatly from one system to the next. Not that it couldn't be done (sometimes a defense that has been one way for a lot of years changes because of a new coach) Its just like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. If we were to switch, you're right, we would have to draft or pick up some new look DTs, DE and LBs (I actually think Art Brown would have more success as an OLB in a 4-3 system). It isn't always successful though. What comes to mind is Buffalo. They had Jim Shwartz as a cordinater who ran a 4-3 and they switched to a 3-4 because of Rex. There was a dramatic decrease in production from Shwartz to Ryan because their DEs (Mario Williams, Jerry Hughes) along with their DTs (Marcell Dareus, Kyle Willams) had a difficult time adjusting to the new system. But im sure that there are other instances where the transition from one D to another worked well. I just can't think of any at the moment.
  22. the last two games where he has looked woefully overmatched and has a case of the dropsies. His measurable are intriguing though, he just needs to work on the rout tree.
  23. you are always hating on the stories (everyone is drinking the purple koolaid) and you say pretty much the same thing in all of your posts, just worded differently (the ravens haven't drafted well in the last 5 years, and we won't be going to the playoffs for the next two to three years) but what is astonishing is that you are one of the most prolific posters on this site. My question is if you think all of the writers are drinking the koolaid, and you think the ravens are so terrible why do you read the articles and feel the need to comment on almost every single article. I'm not trying to hate on you or anything i am just curious.. whats in it for you? Why post so much ?
  24. Well we obviously don't have to pay for them because they post them on here every week. I would really like to hear more about why you think they are a joke. Read this .. https://www.profootballfocus.com/about/how-we-grade/and tell me how grading every single play that a player plays throughout the whole season is a joke. When you look at peoples PFF grades at the end of the year it is an accurate assessment of each players skills. The people that don't understand PFF are the people that diss it, especially when they think a player that they like should get a higher grade. The only thing that PFF can't grade is effort and character.
