  1. Lee is projected to go in the late first round. No way he makes it to round 3
  2. Since they couldn't get the name "Colts" back, Mustangs is another name for a Colt. I see the connection. That's actually not true. A Mustang is a type of horse, and a colt is a young horse, but that's not even the point. Neither have anything to do with football, and if it's because of the similarity to "Colts", then it sounds like a cheap knockoff. name a mascot in the NFL that has to do with football.
  3. Why not? As of now he is I am hoping one of the young guys can beat him out. On paper Maxx and Gilmore possess much better measurable than Watson has. I understand that is just on paper and you can't really quantify a veterans savy but I hope one of those guys can step up. And you are right as of right now Watson is the starter. Its probably just wishful thinking.
  4. I wouldn't be so quick to name him the starter.
  5. The Ravens didn't have Gronk on their board because of injury concerns.
  6. Buffalo had a down year on defense in 2015. In 2014 their defense was the number 4 rated defense in the league. And last year they dropped to 15
  7. Im not too high on Raglan. The guy is a huge liability in coverage.
  8. i hope we pick up Jamarcus Russell.
  9. Also need to consider where we selected those players. Historically, the later you pick, the less likely the player is to pan out. Steelers are great at drafting receivers...not so great all the time at other positions. Their secondary is arguably weaker than ours and hasn't been good for years. They've drafted nine defensive backs in the last five years and I'd argue not one of them could start for this team right now. Tomlin was a WR coach, knows what to look for and personally goes to scouting sessions and runs the drills himself. Look at what he does he knows what fits into his team. If you want to improve drafting WR study what Tomlin does. This year or best chance is going after Kolby Listenbee in the fourth round. Yes we are picking high but he won't last. And he might be taken by NE with one of their 3rd round comp picks. KL is Raven tough and has unteachable speed. im not sure where you come up with this stuff. Tomlin coached WR for one year. It was his first year of coaching experience at the Virginia Military Institute. After that he was a DBs coach for multiple teams. He then became a Defensive Coordinator. The Steelers have had luck drafting receivers way before Tomlin coached there.
  10. you say the same thing everyday. we get it. offensive line, linebackers
  11. Z smith was surprisingly good against the run last year (he was better against the run than the pass). And yes it is possible for a rookie to come in and take over Upshaws role. I mean Upshaw started his rookie year and that year was his most productive year as Raven. That was Upshaws problem. His play leveled off after his rookie year. He came in to training camp overweight multiple times and he never used the offseason to perfect his craft.
  12. Are you kidding? That would be the worst thing you could do. Upshaw has no speed and no covering ability. He'd make a horrible MLB. Hate to tell ya ya but MLBers priority is run stopping not pass coverage, as they rarely do cover unless htey sit in a zone for crossing routes....It's the OLBer who have more coverage responsibility covering TE's....mute now as Upshaw is in Atlanta... And I hate to tell you that, thats not true at all. If the OLB is not rushing the passer on a pass play (they rush most of the time) OLBs usually have the flats. ILBs or S cover the tight end. The OLB may chip the guy but he's not going to cover him down field. Moving Upshaw is not a good idea. The only way he would succeed is if the teams ran straight at him. His lateral quickness is not very good. Im sure he could stuff a hole but he wouldn't be good at scraping over the top in pursuit. And its moot not mute.
  13. PFF is actually a really reliable and proven way to assess a player. There is a lot of data that goes into those numbers. Its not irrelevant at all. Courtney's issue was that he never did a whole lot of work in the offseason. He has shown up overweight to training camp multiple times. I think if he really worked on it and dropped ten pounds he could have been a decent pass rusher. In my opinion his best year was his rookie season.
  14. what? i never mentioned Jack
  15. just what we need another slow middle linebacker who can't cover.
  16. Rosberg isn't a kicking coach. Randy Brown (kicking specialist) is the guy who handles that aspect of special teams.
  17. it is highly unlikely that we take another TE in this draft. This class is really weak and over the last two years we have drafted three tight ends. We have already dedicated enough recourses on that position. Our FO will take "best player available." Watson-older veteran, Gillmore-coming off injury, Williams-unproven 1st year/hoping he will be better, Waller-never played TE/project, Boyle-2nd substance abuse suspension, Pitta-possible career ending injury. I'm not saying our TE position is horrible, but it's not set in stone either. If there's A player out there on draft day that will help us, you take him. Joe Flacco likes his TE dump-offs, so this is always going to be A need position. If Gillmore is re-injured and Williams can't cut it, we're left only with Watson. Raven's run ALOT of 2 TE sets. well they say they take bpa (thats really just lip service) but its really bpa at a position of need. And like I said there aren't any tight ends in this class that would be worth taking. But lets say we did take one. One of two things would happen. A. He can't beat out anybody on the team and gets cut or B. he beats out Willams, Crockett, or Waller and one of them gets cut. Either way we would be cutting a recent draft pick which really doesn't make sense. All teams say they take best player available but in many cases takin BPA doesn't make sense especially in latter rounds.

  19. John, I wouldn't be so quick to label Watson the starter
  20. I think the FO should really consider adding Jamarcus Russell
  21. you're right, it just makes me nervous drafting a RB that high in this day in age. But hey, if the FO thinks we should take him that high I am really in no position to argue. They know a lot more about the players than I do.
  22. we would have to trade way way back in the draft for the Zeke pick in the first round to makes sense.
  23. Well thats a common misconception. At ILB its not all about man coverage. In most situations the ILB job in coverage is to recognize routes and drop into zones. It is all about positioning and taking away angles. The ILB doesn't need to move very far in order to be in a position to intercept the ball on intermediate crosses and digs. In Daryls Smiths first year in Baltimore he had 3 ints and a whopping 18 pass deflections. As an older guy who isn't as fast as he once was he had to rely on route recognition in order to be in position to jump the routes. I can assure you the Mosley is a lot faster and more agile than Daryl was when he put up those amazing stats. He just has to get a better feel for dropping into zones and taking away angles. Sure every once in a while the ILB takes on the tight end but, in those cases he usually has help over top from a safety. He will also surely be asked to pick up backs out of the backfield which he may struggle with. With time and film study he willl undoubtably get better in coverage. You don't have to run a 4.3 forty to be good at coverage as an ILB.
  24. mosley can learn to cover, he did a pretty good job of it his rookie year. Wagner and Monroe are solid tackles
