  1. Do the math. Since the Rams are taking a QB at #1, These five are on the board and one of them has to be available. And all five can really help the Ravens and have big time starter potential (pro-bowl material). You don't seem high on Buckner, but I think he can be a better Chris Canty DE and maybe become Michael McCreary like. They don't have to be HoF material , but they need to be starters and contributors from the get go. I like the d-line rotation of Williams, Jernigan, Guy, Urban, Kapran-Moore and Buckner. That has to be very imposing to our opponents. I will gladly take any of these players at the sixth pick and know the Ravens have improved. The key will be rounds 2-4. out of those 6 choices they need to get 3-4 starters at minimum. Buckner and Mike Mccrary play two totally different positions. They are both DE but one is DE in the 4-3 (Mccrary 6'4 260) and one is a DE in the 3-4 (Buckner 6'7 291)
  2. That was hardly the argument that I am making (there probibly is a safety tandom that is older) that was just a bit hyperbole but was really not the point. The argument is that Webb is the closest thing we have to FS. Im sure Weddle could play FS too but at this point in his career he is more suited at SS. Every other safety that we have is a SS (beside maybe Brooks). Whitner would just be adding another one to the mix. He would be redundant.
  3. Well one reason is that he's 30 years old. He is slow and is a huge liability in coverage. Paring him with Weddle would probably make them the oldest safety tandom in the league. At this point in their careers they are both best suited to play SS. And you don't want two SS on the back end. There is a reason no one has picked the guy up.
  4. I think you meant Brennen Beyer? Maybe? Predicting that a guy who has only played on the practice squad will be a contributor is going a bit overboard. I doubt he makes the team. But even if he did it would be as a special teams guy. He is really slow and pass rushing is really not his thing.
  5. I somewhat agree but you have admire that they've identified a guy they like and they are making a move for him. They pretty much have everything but a quality QB so good on them for taking a stab. They're essentially just giving back what the Redskins gave them for RGIII. This move is even riskier than the Skins moving up to take RG3. If there was a sure thing in this draft (A Luck, P Manning) then yea this would be a good move. But there just isn't that guy in this draft. Going all in on guy from the FCS is anything but a sure bet.
  6. the comparison between Buckner and Ngata is a stretch. Totally different body types. Haloti (6'4" 338) is more of your NT, DT and Buckner (6'7" 291) fits the mold of a 5 technique.
  7. Whitner at this point in his career is as slow as a middle linebacker. There is a reason teams haven't signed him. You do realize that you can't just put two SS back there and expect them to be good in coverage.
  8. why would you replace Webb with Whitner? That does't make any sense. Whitner is a SS who really at this point in his career is about as agile and athletic as a Linebacker. Webb is our only true FS. There is nothing questionable about moving on from Ngata, Pollard, Ihedigbo, or Smith. Pollard and Ihedigbo were terrible in coverage. Ngata didn't want to renegotiate his contract so we got what we could for him. Smith???? Would you pay Smith the money San Fran is. I mean come on he isn't worth that big of a contract and how did he do last year? Boldin might be the only questionable cut on your list. Im thankful that we have a FO that can objectively determine a guys worth. Your getting to sentimental. All of the guys you mentioned were way past their prime or in Ihedigbo case just an average run of the mill player.
  9. I was thinking the same. Seems like people have forgotten we have parted ways with D. Smith and COURTNEY UPSHAW. Even though D.Smith was ok at best, I still dont see anyone on our roster that can replace them. If anyone on here says we have somebody currently who can fill the shoes or be a better replacement than D.Smith is lying and should be banned from NFL talk. Go talk about soccer or tennis. I just never understood why Upshaw never got reps playing ILBer, he no doubt has the size, and as a ILBer he would have been a tackling machine....I would at least tried him at ILBer, and moved AB outside since speed is his game,.... They never did that because it is a terrible idea. Upshaw has really poor lateral agility and if he moved to ILB he wouldn't be able to scrape over the top to clean up plays that aren't running directly at him. He would also be a huge liability in pass coverage. Art Brown would make a great 4-3 OLB. As a 3-4 OLB he really doesn't have the length needed to go up against the long armed tackles in this league.
  10. teams with the same record the previous year rotate draft positions in each round.
  11. I've seen that on NFL.com, but there comps are hilarious on many occasions. Shaq Lawson has many more moves than Courtney Upshaw ever had. He's going to have a high upside at the next level. I'd be fine with him if we traded back a couple spots. All you need to do is watch his tape and you know he's much more than Upshaw. well if you would have watched Upshaws Alabama tape you would also come to the conclusion that he would be a great pass rusher. He has 16.5 sacks and 32.5 tackles for a loss in his last two years there. The comparison is being made because their athletic ability is at the same level.
  12. where did you find all of the games? Ive been looking for complete game tape but I haven't been able to find it.
  13. Im not disagreeing with you but to Bosa's credit he much more athletic than Paul. Paul was one of the least athletic guys that I have ever seen playing in the NFL.. Awkward movements slow feet and limited pass rushing moves. To his credit though he does have one heck of a motor on him.
  14. what is true for the average fan? I'm not sure that you read my post correctly
  15. Of course he looks impressive in a highlight reel. The problem with evaluating a player based on highlights reels, is that they make everyone look like a superstar.
  16. yeah,i'm not opposed to trade back, but we alway's get mid to late round pick's,very good, but not the BLUE CHIPPER'S we really need, the more i look at it,the more i'd like to stay at #6.i don't like BOSA and it looks like he doesnt want to play here anyway.it's just very exciting,i can't wait.even without trading back, its still like we have 3 first rounders, with, whomever we get at 6,PERRIMAN if he holds up and and the 36 pick, our front office has done a fabulous job in free agency so whateber happen's,we're set up nicely.in the word's of BART SCOTT,"CAN'T WAIT!!! "it looks like he doesnt want to play here anyway" that was an April Fools trick
  17. His biggest weakness in the NFL has been his inconsistency and sometimes just down right awfulness at tackling. Frankly the most important aspect of any defender, and especially inside linebacker, is tackling. At this point... probably one of the worst ideas I've ever heard. If he improves his tackling, sure, I can see it. But certainly not now. tackling inside the box at ILB is easier than tackling in the open fiield as a SS. That being said I don't see Elam as a viable option at ILB. He would have a lot of difficulty diagnosing plays at his height. He would also have to gain a few pounds.
  18. Yea but the Broncos LT was Ryan Harris, who has been a journeyman for most of his career. He is average at best. Thankfully he will be the Steelers new LT (unless they draft someone that beats him out).
  19. I can't see a scenario where we would be able to keep Juice and another FB on the roster. There are just not enough spots on the 53 man roster to go around.
  20. One thing to remember before shooting the Henry pick down is our ZBS just got really tough because cut blocking is illegal now. So, we may need to alter our RB scheme to fit the new NFL and that means power running is an option. So schematically it gives us flexibility. Just visualize this. It is the 4th quarter in a close game and we don't want their offense back on the field because we are driving for a FG win. Their defense is tired and we unleash Henry on them in the 4th quarter. I don't think I need to elaborate any more. Lastly it doesn't mean I like picking a RB in the 2nd round, but I would completely understand the pick. Cut blocking is legal, chop blocking is illegal. The difference between the cut and the chop is outlined well in this article. At the end of the day the rule change really won't affect our offense that much. http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2016/3/23/11288894/nfl-rules-changes-chop-blocks-cut-blocks-legal-illegal-explanation
  21. I agree. However, I expect that Mosley won't be asked to play ILB, but some OLB and maybe tackle or some SS as well to help out where needed. Elam was not as good a player as Mosley was coming into the league, nevertheless, he was promising and did alright his rookie year. I think that the shifting from position to position and not sticking with one thing that he could learn to his full potential is what destroyed him as a player and why he had such a steep sophomore slump. Why would they put Mosley at tackle or SS? That doesn't make sense. He did come off the edge a few times to rush the passer but the guy is an ILB through and through.
  22. do you think he will be gone by the time we pick in the second?
  23. *eye rolls* I dont see any Baltimore Sun links here. and really, some player, coach, or front office testimony would be great, because fans, blogs, and news outlets make up stuff actual people in the NFL dont agree with at all, all the time. But this is a tangent, almost completely beside the point, so for the sake of argument, you can have it. That way you can start coming up with an answer to this question, getting back to my original point: What does one sub par season from almost a decade ago that none of you could even be bothered to remember beyond vague mention have to do with the work ethic and effectiveness of a player that has been nothing like that in any of the rest of his 13 seasons, in this upcoming September? The reason people are worried about this season is two fold. One, By suggs' own admission he showed up out of shape last year. Two, it is difficult to stay in shape when you are nursing a torn achilles. I am sure you will find flaws with all of these sources. The bottom line is that it is not such an outlandish idea to wonder if TS has stayed in shape over the offseason. http://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/article-1/Aging-Terrell-Suggs-Feels-Weird-Without-Haloti-Ngata/d268e1d9-abb7-45dc-a494-45ebd4282f07 "The other change is Suggs’ offseason training methodology. The past couple years, it seemed Suggs arrived at minicamp determined to prove he was working hard away from the team. He came back looking like an action movie hero. This year, he showed up noticeably heavier with more love in his handles. “I’m definitely not in ‘Sizz shape,” Suggs said with a laugh. “I’m not out of shape. I can participate in practice without getting hurt and without getting tired. I’m definitely not at my fighting weight. I’m pretty much at my walking around weight.”" http://blogs.baltimoreravens.com/2010/02/04/harbaugh-needs-suggs-in-world-class-shape/#sthash.StY7TMLU.dpufIn 2009, Suggs didn’t agree to the deal until mid-July, meaning that he didn’t join the team for any of the spring workouts. By the time training camp rolled around in August, Suggs was behind in his conditioning and missed a large portion of camp with a heel injury. “I think he came in out of shape, and we now have him for the offseason,” Owner Steve Bisciotti said. “So, that’s going to say everything. http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/bs-sp-preston-ravens-terrell-suggs-column-1030-20151029-column.html "But he has struggled with playing weight the past two years. He was noticeably bigger during the mandatory minicamp in late June, and was still overweight when training camp started at the end of July. Suggs also never seemed to get over the Ravens trading one of his best friends, defensive tackle Haloti Ngata, to the Detroit Lions in March." http://articles.baltimoresun.com/2010-05-17/sports/bs-sp-ravens-suggs-0518-20100517_1_ravens-suggs-terrell-suggs-ravens-facility "Last season was filled with obstacles for the Ravens outside linebacker, from the weight of a new contract to the added weight on his body. Suggs finished with a career-low 41/2 sacks and 59 tackles, his fewest since 2003, his rookie season." http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/bs-sp-preston-ravens-column-0915-20150914-column.html "During the past two seasons, he has used training camp and the early part of the regular season to play his way into game shape." http://baltimore.cbslocal.com/2015/06/18/update-from-the-ravens-nest-with-aaron-wilson-2/ "The question on most fans’ minds is about Terrell Suggs being out of shape. Aaron Wilson says he is probably 15-20 pounds over his playing weight but believes he can get back to his normal weight by the start of the season. Wilson says it is not too alarming but it’s also not a good thing. When Vinny said he is sure that Coach Harbaugh is upset by it, Wilson agrees that he probably is but won’t publicly embarrass him by talking about it. He will probably talk with him behind closed doors about what has to be done."
  24. you got links to 3 small time blogs that are presenting speculative opinions that amount to exactly what i said before; fans blowing his weight way out of proportion because he had ONE mediocre season. Two of them copied the same paragraph word for word into their pieces (and didnt cite each other), which means not only are we talking about speculative opinions, but theyre not even independent speculative opinions. you could at least find a BR,com article about it, if you're going to bother. You're scraping the bottom of the barrel on the internet, which is pretty hard to do. that should tell you something... Is the Baltimore Sun a reliable source?
