  1. yea a few of those drives looked promising until the penalties left us behind schedule.
  2. The majority of the things you have said here are pretty outlandish. So outlandish in fact that I am leaning toward the fact that this is a rouse, just intended to stir the pot. In the event that you are this out of touch with reality I will try to clear a few things up for you. I don't have time to comment on all of the silly things you have said but I do think you need to realize that we have only played one game this year. No one judges a team on the first games of the year, but you seem to be ready to throw in the towel. And JOSH JOHNSON?? I am sorry that NFL TOTAL ACCESS has not informed you that he has been in the league for EIGHT YEARS. During those EIGHT YEARS he has started FIVE games. None of his starts have come in the last FIVE YEARS. He is currently the number THREE quarterback for the Giants and in all likelihood he will NOT see the field or the entire year. Has every single team in the NFL been wrong about his talent level?? Last thing... If you were upset about our Superbowl year, I don't think you will ever be content with anything the Ravens Do.
  3. IMO the nike designs all look like they need a few more weeks in the design room. I know they make 12 jerseys for Oregon every year, but there is no cohesion in the designs, just a bunch of odds and ends thrown together. I am probably a bit biased, but all of the designs that UA does for Maryland just seem to have all of the kinks worked out, and are pretty impressive. UA does do a lot of designs for MD each year, and every once in a while I see one that could use more work, but all in all I think they do great job. I think the biggest problem with this desire to use the gold on the pants and now for the numbers, is that its just an ugly color and was never meant to be used so liberally, It looks fine when its used sparingly to outline logos and in the shield and other small things.
  4. The gold is killing me. For some reason the gold that they use is somewhere between a dirty yellow mustard and green pea soup.
  5. If Zuttah played outstanding last year I might give him a pass for the one game but he didn't and is suspect in my opinion. Urchel played worse than Zuttah last year. Heck, Urchel played worse than Jenson did last year. Yea, center is a cerebral position, but you also need to have the strength. When Urchel didn't have help from a guard, many of the times he was put on skates into the backfield. It is possible that he gained some strength in the offseason, but with him being injured for so many weeks its hard to tell how he is going to do in a real game. That said, I read somewhere today that he was cleared to play, so it will be interesting to see where he fits. If Zuttah really struggles in the game they could most definetly take him out. What I am unsure of is the fact that the depth chart (yea I know its unofficial) has Jensen as the back up center. The reason for this, I assume is that Urchel was penciled in as the starting left gaurd before his injury. Because he was the starter I am sure he got all of the reps at the guard position. I just wonder if he as able to take any reps at center. That is all speculation though. We may just have to wait and see.
  6. PFF grades every single play that a player is in the game, and they do it for every single player (even if you just play one down). Not only would it be difficult for a fan to continuously watch a player, but it would also make for a pretty lame viewing experience. Yanda is as solid as it gets. He is one of the best guards in the NFL year in and year out. Yea, Marshall had two penalties, which is bummer, but he performed well on all of the other downs. In fact he played so well that he had the highest grade of any right guard in the league (KOs grade was the best of all left guards) Stanley is a rookie. He played well for a rookie and that is probably an under satement, but he had some growing pains (mostly in run blocking). And thats to be expected of a Rookie that plays at one the toughest positions in the league. And maybe you did zero in on Stanley on every single play that he was in the game for, But if thats the case it would be impossible to also watch Marshall. PFF stats are a great way to evaluate players and this especially true for the OL. Yea there are flaws, but the numbers contain much more legitimate data than any fan watching the game would be able to collect. Im not trying jump down your throat here but the illegitimacy of PFF is a common theme in the forum. You're entitled to your opinion though, I just wanted to try and explain why these numbers are the way they are. The link bellow really gives an in depth look at how the they come up with the grades. https://www.profootballfocus.com/about/how-we-grade/
  7. CBS sports is so obscure. It was also on all of the other national networks and local ones. When your only news source is Marty Bass you are probably going to miss some things.
  8. You're embarrassing yourself http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/patriots-owner-team-lost-250k-on-aaron-hernandez-jersey-swap/
  9. Are you saying that the ravens changed the cadence because the ball got out faster or did you read that somewhere. The cadence has nothing to do with the amount of time it takes to snap the ball. It has more to do with when Joe begins the cadence. If Joe makes an audible or changes formations he is going to start the cadence after these things happen which means it is going to take longer for the ball to be snapped. If he gets up to the line and likes what he sees he will begin the cadence right away. Which means the snap will come sooner. In many of our away games we use the silent count. In these instances Joe pats the centers bum when he wants the snap. If he is in a shotgun formation the center has took between his legs and watch for Joe to give him a hand signal to snap the ball. Everyone else on the offense has to look at the ball using their peripheral vision. Once they see the ball snap they fire out of their stance and start the play. The cadence changes a lot during the game. Its Joes responsibility to mix up line calls so the defense isn't able to determine when the ball is going to be snapped. Even if the cadence was changed it is such a minor change that it wouldn't effect Joes performance.
  10. Mccelellans wasn't the only one missing tackles. We had numerous plays where it looked like either Tyrod or Shady would b stopped in the backfield but ended up gaining a lot of yards. Another big wiff happened when one of their receivers caught a bomb on their 15. The CB who was covering had him wrapped up. Then web comes in and spears the guy. He made absoulutly no attempt to wrap him up. There were also times when defenders would over persuit and leave cut back lanes wide open. The offensive line had a rough day. They didn't get much of a push in the running game and allowed a lot of pressure in passing situations. The most frustrating part of the game were the miscues. Snapping the ball early and committing a lot of false starts which killed a lot of our drives
  11. I hope Trestman has some creative ways to use Juice this year and doesn't ring up the dump pass to the FB in the flats on all starting drives. Dump passes are going to take the heat off the OLm but you can't always use the same one. They don't always have to go to the FB either. Get the TEs and RBs involved in some dump plays and screens.
  12. "Urschel has 10 starts under his belt, and he has played well in each of those outings" That is a bit of a stretch. He really had some bad games last year and gets overwhelmed by bigger DTs.
  13. man those greg mattison years were brutal. Hopefully with a better unit of pass rushers and safeties Pees will fell more comfortable playing the CBs close to the line of scrimmage
  14. Im happy for Tyrod. He deserves that contract and I hope he does well this year as he did last (just not against us) and keeps proving people wrong. I just looked up his measurables. For some reason I thought he was just under 6' and I attributed that to the reason he was picked so late. Turns out he's 6'1" still short for a QB but a giant compared to R Wilson. I do think Tyrod really benefited from sitting behind Joe. I think if he was rushed into starting his rookie year he may not have had the success that he's having now. A lot of these rookie quarterbacks that get forced into a starting role in their rookie year has really screwed up there career. Its especially so when the draft class is weak and teams are forced to draft your Geno Smiths, EJ Emanuels, Christian Ponders, and Jake Lockers so high that they are expected to start. And who knows they could have been busts even if they sat a few years. Im just glad it worked out for Tyrod. I actually saw him star in a Toyota Camery commercial over the weekend. We just have to keep him contained this weekend. We don't want to let this guy out of the pocket.
  15. It really wasn't "dumb" or a "gamble". We are paying a 30 year old running back who is coming off an injury quite a bit. No teams would be willing to guarantee him that much money. This is especially true with how deep this draft was at the position.
  16. Yea Joe jumped on KC because he almost took out his favorite target. I know Joe has emotion but how often do you see a quarterback go up to a rookie on the defensive side of the ball and tell him to "taz up" (whatever that means). I can guarantee you that Joe gets on guys in the offensive huddle. And I can garentee that he yells at people in practice on the offensive side of the ball who he thinks are slacking, or made a wrong read, or lined up wrong. And we know that if some rookie wants to play who is mas macho, in a practice, with one of his favorite targets he is going to tell him where he can shove it. But having Joe go up to KC and tell him come on, fire it up, play harder, take it to em, get pumped get pumped, snap into a slim jim, that QB on the other team said something about your mother, THIS IS WAR, hustle, hit and never quit, win from within, or any other cliches you can think of, isn't going to do anything for KC. Now if Suggs wants to take the Rook aside and give him some encouragement, I'm all for that.
  17. Yea I wasn't implying that it was a waste, just as you said it will take time. But I don't agree that he fits ILB way better than OLB. With his height and burst he will make a fine OLB. He needs to add some bulk just like Suggs did. Suggs wasn't great at setting the edge in college either. KC is playing at ILB because its his best chance to see the field. With Orr looking as good as he has it going to be tough to get on the field.
  18. people on this site overestimate the value of our players. I've heard people upset that we didn't get anything for A. Brown, T. Brooks and now Johnson. Im not sure if you know but Josh Johnson signed with the Giants as the number 3 quarterback. No one is going to give us anything for a third string quarterback it just doesn't work like that.
  19. Totally agree with you here. I think the position switch has really stunted KCs development. There is a lot more traffic that you have to worry about in the middle. Hopefully he carves out a roll for himself on passing downs somewhere on the defensive front.
  20. it will be interesting to see how much playing time he will get and at which position.
  21. The talk about how good KC looked was in OTAs and the beginning of TC when there was no contract. They really did him a disservice by talking him up the way they did because now fans think he has lost some of his spark. Changing from OLB or DE to ILB is a huge move. Sure you look good in 7 on 7 drills or in shells, but when you put on the pads you realize how much more traffic there is in the middle. It is also more difficult to read and react to keys in the middle. He will get there it is going to take time thought. I personally would like to see him get some work in passing situations coming off the edge or through the middle. I still really think his most natural position is at OLB, but with not a lot of depth at ILB it makes sense to put him there in order to get the guy on the field. And Flacco is not one to tell someone that is time to "Taz out". Thats just not his thing. You can be a leader without yelling screaming and banging your helmets together. At some of the more cerebral positions the last thing you want to do is get your adrenaline pumping.
  22. Just ask your Steelers buds, how Bud Dupree and Gholston are doing...:) Jones perhaps? Gholston was drafted by the Jets
  23. Well unfortunately 30 year old running backs get short changed in the NFL. This is especially true when there was such a deep draft class. Its a business. There are zero teams that would have added Forsett to there roster if he was cut. And lets be honest about things. You like to complain about Ozzy and the front office every chance you get, thats sort of your thing. Even if your complaints contradict your prior complaints. There is a short memory on the internet. If Forsett held on to that three mil you would be complaining at the end of the year that we paid a 30 year old running back, who only rushed for 500 yards way too much. As for free agents I would tell you to ask Weddle or Wallace why they chose the Ravens over other teams even when we "shortchanged" Anquan. Your so intent on slamming Oz that you're simply not thinking rationally.
  24. And once again your desire to keep players on the practice squad has clouded your judgement. First, Victor Ochi did nothing spectacular this summer. Second we are loaded at OLB where as the Jets are not. Its not about not wanting to stay with the Ravens, its about having a better chance with the Jets. Butler is an average player. That should be reinforced by the fact that no one signed him to their 53. He will not make anyones 53 this year. Now if we signed all of the Bobby Rainey's, the Omar Browns, The Bryn Renner's, The Jeremy Butlers we would be doing a disservice to the rest of the players on the team. This is a business. Im pretty sure you were whining about not keeping Bryn last year. See where Brynn is now. These rants you go on are ridiculous. First about wanting to change practice squad rules, when it is clear you don't know what the rules are, and now about keeping average players that you are sentimentally attached too. This world is tough. I have seen employers keep employees for sentimental reasons, and it is truly a disservice to everyone that works with these people because they have to pick up the slack. You can lie to your kids and tell them that if they try hard enough they can do anything, but that is just not the case in many situations. Especially in pro sports.
  25. step back from that ledge my friend
