  1. the offensive line coach is probably the coach that has the least impact on player performance. I can guarantee you that every person on the offensive line knows their assignment and knows the proper technique to execute said assignment. They just get beat sometimes and it happens every game except maybe to Yanda but its like CB Jimmy has played lights out this season but he still get chastised on this site. People have to realize that CBs are going to give up some yardage. Its just the nature of the game. Its completely inaccurate to say that "Every season that Castillo has been in charge we have faired poorly". I woud tell you to go back and look at the last two years and look at how many back ups have had to start games. James Hurst knows who he is supposed to block and how he is supposed to make the block but he just doesn't have the physical attributes to succeed. This is the same case with John Urchel. He can win the nobel prize for mathmatics but he will still be weak at the point of a attack and get pushed back a lot and in some instances just act as a turnstile ushering defenders to sacks and tackles for losses.
  2. You are so far out of touch with reality. Eveyday I am waiting for you to post something that makes sense. Sometimes I think you have it but wehn I scroll down im hit with another outrageous prognostication. http://www.mlive.com/wolverines/index.ssf/2016/11/wolverines_in_the_nfl_jake_lon.html Jake has played terribly this year (Kyle is a gaurd for the bears) One of the carsiest things you have said htis year is that JU is playing lights out and you pointed to his PFF rating. I looked and that was far from true. And do you remember this one.. KO should have left money on the table to stay in Baltimore because Oakland is a "black hole" and will never be competative. Oakland is 7-2 this year NE (best record in league) is 7-1. Why you think an nfl player in his fist contract should leave money on the table is crazy. With injuries it cold be his last contract you never know. They need to take the money when they can.
  3. you have to be joking. Zuttah has outplayed Urschel All season. I don't know where this stuff comes from. Zuttah has had games this season where he has the highest offensive pff grade on the team and quite a few games where he has been in the top 5 offensive performers. Last week a member tied to tell me how well PFF has graded John this year and I almost took his word for it but then I found the stats below (if it is any constellation in 2014 he played pretty well but the last two years he has been awful). It is possible that your going to tell me PFF is BS after this but I can tell you that the Offensive Line is the position where PFF grades are most accurate in predicting performance. Not only has Zutta continuously outplayed John but Jensen has as well. But Jensen doesnt play Center so you can kill two birds with one stone with John. One reserve from the interior JU. And one for swing tackles JH, who had to play out of position at guard a few times when Jeremy went down. The first few are from last year. . Center John Urschel (-4.4) has now graded at -9.9 over the past three weeks, and gave up a sack, three hits and three hurries yesterday. https://www.profootballfocus.com/pro-sea-bal-grades/ " he’s done a pretty solid job in the past, grading a little above average at guard back in 2014, though he struggled at center last year. Urschel also looked shaky against a talented Panthers’ interior in the preseason opener, allowing two hurries on just 10 pass-blocking snaps " https://www.profootballfocus.com/pro-2016-cheat-sheet-baltimore-ravens/ If you scroll down to where the projected starters are shown it tells you what the players grade from 2015. Johns was 44.8. Now if you look at the link bellow and scroll down to the grade breakdown you will see that a grade off 59.9 or below is a poor grade. 44.8 is really terrible https://www.profootballfocus.com/about/how-we-grade/ Now to this year..... he is currently the 49th best gaurd in the league which is pretty terrible. "So here’s a few PFF ranks on the Ravens O-Line, within their respective positional groups:" John Urchel 49th best gaurd in league http://russellstreetreport.com/2016/11/01/report-card/ravens-midseason-report-card/
  4. so Juan is the reason people miss blocks or get over powered at the point of attack or get beat to the edge??? Everyone on the line knows what they are supposed to do and they know how they are supposed to do it. Stanely getting beat like a drum last week had nothing to do with Castillo. When Urchel is in the game and was letting people blow by him like a turnstile that not Juans fault. Missed block have nothing to do with Juan. They players know their assignments. This is the nfl. They know good technique. It is about executing. There are no coaches out there that would be able to fix the problems that we have. No one every misses their assignment is what im saying. If you go back and look peole go where they are supposed to go. They just get beat. Its not rocket science which is why i was criticizing you knowledge of the game. It is crystal clear if you go back and look that Juan is not at fault. But im sure you will be beating that drum every week for the rest of the season. Just like last year when you were saying our ILB are terrible at coverage and they will never learn to be good because they onjust don't have speed. You posted that every single week. The first two time I tried to explain to you why coverage as an ILB has nothing to do with speed but surprise surprise you posted the next week and the week after that. You are lucky people here have such a short memory because you contradict yourself so often and or are proved wrong.. As is the case with CJ and Orr being really pretty great in coverage this year.
  5. the problem with KO is that he was looking for LT money (and got it) when guard is the position that he excels at. And there is no guarantee that we would have picked Tavon Young if we took Ramsey in the first. And once again nas long as Jensen ad Urchel are on this team together, Jensen will ALWAYS start over Urchel.
  6. You aren't able able to ascertain who is at fault for the Olines play. Your comments both past and present have highlighted your insufficient knowledge of the Xs and Os of football.
  7. after the play is dead touching the ball doesn't mean anything
  8. as long as John Urchel stays on the sidelines the oline should be able to make a nice pocket for Joe
  9. 'dumping it off to avoid getting hit" Are you saying tthat you would rather have Flacco take hits in the backfield instead of hitting the check down.
  10. I think you're overreacting. yea thats pretty fusu MO
  11. not in the slightest. our o line is terrible. Its just like Leslie Frasier coming in during the offseason. For some reason people thought he was going to be our secondaries savior. there is too much purple koolaid being consumed here. do you remember how excited people were two years ago when we signed Kendrick Lewis or when we resigned Sharice Wright. Both of those players have played at a below average level for their entire careers and people wonder why they cant live up to the hype. they cant live up to it because it was never deserved. and I fully expect next year for everyone on this site to pencil John Urchel at center. And when he isnt starting they will say he must be in some sort of dog house. there will be pleanty of articles about him and his math skills during the offseason that will make people totally forget about how terrible he has played for us the past few years. I put Ben Watson in this category too. Everyone was so excited that we paid for an undersized slow and aging TE. Even if he didnt get hurt their is no way he would have lived up to those expectations. He has been an average tight end his whole career except for last year when he was helped by the system he was in. And dont forget about Justin Forsett, the 31 year old coming off of an injury who has only had 1 season out of 8 where he was able to put up more than 650 yards. You clearly don't look at the stats for Urschel and you must be basing your assumptions on your expert evaluation skills of NFL players. Of course, PFF would disagree with you as Urschel has been one of the better offensive lineman (both this year and last) and a lot of experts with many more years of NFL evaluation experience believe he should have started before Zuttah this year. Don't know if you know this or not, but PFF doesn't look at Urschels IQ when they rate his play nor do they read articles about him. But I am sure those expert skills of yours would tell you that Zuttah has played well this year (once again PFF would disagree). You know, I think the Steelers are looking for fans because based on your diatribe, why would you be a fan of a team who knows so little when you clearly know so much. yea, i dont pay for PFF which is the only way you would be able to obtain that information. But i would love to be wrong. If you can copy and paste his PFF grade for last season and for this season I would love to see it. When I googled PFF and Urchel this is what came up (link bellow). Its from last year which you say he played well. I obviously dont know what his grade was at the end of the season but it would be hard to overcome the -9.9 with only four games left in that season. It is possible that you may be talking about his rookie year when he came in towards the end of the season becaseu of injuries. He actually played much better in those games (including the playoofs) than he has inthe last two seasons. Disregard the bit about me not being able to find the grades. It took a while but I found them and they sure are terrible. A lot of anecdotal information that is just so far from the reality of the situation. Cmon man. Did you just make this stuff up? Did you expect me not to check ? What was the though process here. You call me out for not looking at PFF when in fact you haven't looked at it yourself ?

  13. Yanda hasn't had the best past two games but the first five he played as good as or almost as good as any RT in the league. sorry I meant RG
  14. Yanda hasn't had the best past two games but the first five he played as good as or almost as good as any RT in the league.
  15. i don't think Webb hasn't been playing well but it is not because his natural position inset safety. He played there 4 years in college.
  16. Fasty compare our drafts of the last 6 or 7 years to NE or Pitt. Thats the only way to get a true barometer of how we are doing draft wise. Or compare our drafts of the last 6 or 7 years to the drafts the ravens have had in their first 6 or 7 years in the league. You would be a lot more credible if you had some facts to back up your arguments.
  17. I looked at our Draft choices from 1996 till 2016 and our drafts of late haven't been THAT bad. We picked a lot of years lately at the end of the first round or didn't even have a first round pick. It seems to me weve kept a lot more players from our drafts now (or they were given HUGE salaries from other teams) than in the first half of our existence. If Fasty was really trying to get down to the bottom of this drafting situation he would compare our drafts in the last 6 or 7 years to NE or Pitts for the last 6 or 7 years. But if we are being honest with ourselves Fasty is just here to poo the ravens no matter what, without any real knowledge about how the game is played.
  18. this analysis is useless if you don't know how other teams have drafted in the last six years
  19. So have you done this analysis with other teams? say Pittsburg or New England?
  20. Again Crusader you have no clue what the Offensive lines responsibilities are. A line with Urshcel at guard and Lewis at LT is not going to be able to improve with coaching.
  21. Its clear that you dont know what you are looking at. Urschel played much worse than Zuttah.
  22. Crusader you have no idea whose fault it was that the Offensive line played horribly because your limited knowledge of the game does not include offensive line responsibilities. You don't know what a trap is, or a pull, and you have no clue what a bubble or a bucket step is. You have no clue what scan or slide protections means, and I could go on. You blame one guy one week and another guy the next. In a prior post you were advocating for 6'5" player to become a lead blocker. And this week you're blaming the coach??? If you knew what you were looking for you would know that the players were to blame for the lines poor performance this week, both from a technical and physical standpoint.
  23. So you're putting the blame on everyone accept Joe? open your eyes man
  24. Right on point here. It was clear from the middle of the third quarter that our offense wasn't going to put any points up in the second half. I am sure it was clear to the defense and even some members of the offense. You also have to realize that the two possessions that the Ravens had before Timmy fumbled ended in interceptions.
