One would think that , in pro sports, that the best player would make the team. Not so in football--politics are an important aspect of the game. Why, for example , would Buck Allen be given more opportunity to carry the ball than T. Magee? Easy, a 4th round draft choice is more valuable that a free agent ( most of the time) because of the time and investment that a draft choice commands. W hear the hype about how pre-season games are a better evaluation than practice. Sounds correct to me. I hope that the Ravens give Magee more opportunity that they have.

Why did the Ravens trade HN? I thought that it was a salary cap issue.

Nelson is a smart football player and has the talent to make it as a receiver--and he seem to be tough.

McGee is better than Allen. We will see if he is given a chance this week.

Tom Nelson looked like someone who knows the game. Would like to see him play more. Reminds me a bit of Welker. I hope that Brown, Waller, and McGee get a chance to play more. People think that the best player makes the squad--perhaps but it seem like players who are drafted have the advantage even though they may not perform as well as free agents.

I wonder, like everyone else, about the seriousness of Perriman's injury. Seems strange that they are not really proving much information about it. We will see.

It might be nice to wait until he plays and catches a pass before giving him a nick name, since one might evolve spontaneously. It is a bit to soon to do it now. (IMO)

I would think that a freak injury would happen once not twice. Sometimes we need to admit that what we want to do is predicated on the concept of what we can do.

I have not read very much about Pitta's condition. It seems unlikely , to me, that he will return. He is one of my favorite players but to re-injure his hip and the possible future health consequences which would occur as a result is a great concern.

Headsets for QB's and defense, the forward pass, 2-point conversion, instant replay, moving the goal posts etc. have certainly changed the game. Some would have argued that when these changes were made that they were not needed since the game wasn't broken, why fix it. The rule change may make a difference in some games but isn't why it was instituted? Everyone will adjust and in the end it will simply become an part of the game.
