  1. Theres ways to protect Joe besides just the blocking of the front line. Theres adding a tight end on the left to help block, theres moving the pocket, theres roll outs, with a good run game theres play action, quick hits, better out routes, all kinds of things Trestman ignored.

Sami, you left out one, tiny little thing. With your perfect response, I'll add it for you, as I should since there was nothing left for you to say.

  2. kubiak agreed to come here if he was able to bring his assistants with him. he brought his oc whom he moved to qb coach and i believe he brought the te and either the rb or wr coach. when he went to denver he took them all with him. when harbs loses a coord or position coach he rushes to replace them. maybe he needs to reevaluate some of these hires of his. o-line (juan castillo) has struggled before and after kubiak and the receivers (jim hostler, bobby engram) have always struggled with drops and seperation aside from sss and bolden. just something else to consider as a possible issue

You don't remember the Boldin drop in the endzone vs. Pitt to win that post season game do you?

Joe is done I'm in favor of Ryan Mallet starting and I except all yall criticism because it don't fly over here! Blaming the O line and Trestman is getting old other players are getting replaced or cut but one! It is whut it is! That's two in a row at home SMH!

this purple dog 96 is the same dude that for the whole past year was advocating benching joe in favor of schaub, claiming we would have won the superbowl with him...

until when they actually were FORCED to play him, and then he shut his mouth up...

Yep purple dawg is a troll who just hates Joe.

  4. like MANY other more competent fans have said if it's not broken, why change it?

for once today running game was going great (with west, because dixon was understandably useless and allen nothing more than a backup imo) ...why getting away from it?

for all (not just purple dog) blaming joe for his mistakes...guys you DO have to understand the guy is 9 months removed from a double knee tear...it usually takes 12 to 15 months to regain playing shape and until the following year to not feel anything...give him a break

i see NOBODY pointing out the ABSOLUTE lack of pass rush...

and nobody arguing about the complete uneffectiveness of doom...he clearly is not 100% yet...so why not letting him heal more and continue to play judon???

and...where in the world is Will Davis???

and perriman HAS to make the first half's catch AND he has to have the presence of mind of dragging his first freaking foot on the ground... that's one of the first things they teach you when you play WR at peewee level...

there's more but i'll stop here...

Purple dawg is a troll that hates Joe. Just ignore him.

  5. Was anyone else screaming "run the ball" in their last three possessions? West was tearing them up and they just stopped using him. It made no sense. I can see under two minutes but not when you have 10 minutes and only need a TD to take the lead.

I was screaming that after the first quarter ended. Trestman is worse than cancer, at least with cancer you have a chance of getting rid of it.

  6. I like Brown but I think there must be another move coming with Williams because although Waller ticked them off, his production in preseason was off the hook and he deserves a spot on the roster. Brown has a lot of upside and spent alot of time in a lot of different positions in training camp but so did Waller. I think adding them both allows for more flexibility in their offense however, if Trestman can't draw up better plays and make it so Joe can actually throw the ball down the field then it doesn't matter who is out there, Joe isn't a dink and dunk qb. Too bad we don't have an OC on the practice squad we can elevate or at least someone who will sit him down and make him watch tape of what Joe does well, because clearly Trestman doesn't know Joe as well as half of what the people in the comments section know him (and that is not sarcasm, I'm serious).

Yep, this move is about sending the message to Waller and Boyle. With what went down with Will Hill III, they MUST give these players a clear message, we like you but won't tolerate it. They can't tolerate it because they can't plan years in advance if they have to worry that the player can't quit smoking dope to stay on the field. Waller's ST skills will save him. Boyle, I love, but he is one slip up from being out for an entire year. I fear for his job unless needed due to injury late in the season.

  7. So Daniel Brown will provide to be another big-bodied option who can make tough catches in traffic and add some more speed to the tight end corps?

^ Well, I'm wondering with all of these so-called, "big-bodied" options...how come we hardly to nearly never see them targeted near the end zone?

Militant X 1 - I'm totally beilieving all the Bears fans now. We were right on Kubiak, wrong on Trestman. Time to admit it an move on.

  8. WR is one of our deeper positions, as Wallace, SSS, Aiken, Perriman are the top 4, with Pitta, and Crockett, and now with Brown just gives us another mismatch as he will blow by LBers trying to cover him, so our TE position is in good shape.....Honestly i would have focused on our depth on the O-Line as we saw how exposed our backups were......

stixfix69 - yep I'm with you, they should find a comprimise with Kyle Long and get him in here. No time or need for not resolving that situation.

  9. The Bucs either really like Butler or he told them that the Ravens made him an offer and didn't want to go because that is no surprise move. Unfortunately for Jeremy and the Bucs, putting a guy on your squad just to screw another team tends not to work out well for the team that does it. If it was Butler, get over it, the NFL is a tough place, the Ravens didn't do anything wrong. Harbs even said it was their toughest decision before he walked it back (so as not to insult anyone else who was cut, because it was clear they really wanted Jeremy on the team).

I think the Brown move is the Ravens sending a message to Waller. I think they like him and as long as he has been working and takes the hint he will be back in a week on the 53 man squad. The message they are trying to send is that [Waller] we like you, but you don't have a secure roster spot and if you do this again you won't have one at all because we don't need you, we can just you Brown or anyone else. Hopefully Darren gets it.

Totally non-shocking to see what they are doing with Waller. They have to send a message. It is also an indirect message to Boyle, who is in even more hot water because next time he screws up it is a year without him. Boyle might even be gone. I hope not, but it is possible.

They need a TE for a week without Maxx, as other suggested I think they are trying to see if they should IR him or not and Brown will do for a week while they let Darren cool his heels for another week and get the message he is on thin ice. I think the only way he is not on the squad is if he freaks out and does something bad this week. Otherwise why the mind games?

  10. We seem to play to the competition, we play down to poor caliber teams and play up to good caliber teams. We tend to make good adjustments at halftime, but have difficulty observing what is working and what is not During the game and adjusting to keep doing what works. Sometimes you have to just keep doing the same thing that is working until the other team proves it can stop it regularly.

Whatever John did or said at halftime this past Sunday, he should start the game this coming Sunday with that.

  11. Classy move on both sides, classy player, classy organization. Oddly, or not, there is no mention of an official cut yet. Part ways could mean anything, maybe trying for last minute trade with salary discussions. I think he will wind up with some team and do well in the right system.

Good luck Justin and thanks for all you have done for us. If we still had a zbs line system, I bet you would still look sharp.

UGH! Gooo away Trustmen who i don't trust. Flacco....pull a Big Ben and call the plays that work for the offense,if Trustmen call something stupid audible based on what the defense gives you. SOOOOO damn simple because Flacco had no time to set his feet most of the game, help him out with extra blockers. Nooo WE CAN'T DO THAT NOW CAN WE!

There is no wall of china in the NFL so to keep blaming Trestman just doesn't fly anymore Joe stunk it up PERIOD! All these other QBs throwing under heavy pressure so why can't Joe?! HUH?!

I'm going to chalk you up to being upset about the game outcome. You clearly didn't see the passes where Joe was great under pressure today. The line and horrid play calling is why we lost.

Backup left side of the line nearly got Joe killed. No zone blocking like under Kubiak (it is not illegal, Denver and Atlanta still use it effectively). Harbs had to say something at halftime like run the ball 10 straight times or you are fired, and then when it worked and Trestman saw Oakland couldn't stop it he switched to straight passes to end the game. Trestman panicked and went to the only thing he knows, passing. Trestman should go and Castillo should go, right along with benching of Wright who can't cover anyone.

Every QB I've seen throw under heavy pressure we not special Joe cost us the game PERIOD!

Purple Dawg you didn't watch the game if you really think this, the line was more like a bunch of turnstiles giving free runners at Joe all day. It is shocking he was only sacked twice and hit six times. Joes ability to escape and throw the ball away hid how badly he was pressured the entire game. When the ultimatum was given to run the ball that was what opened up the passing game. If you can't see this you need some help interpreting the game you are watching.

  15. too many weapons on this team for the lack of offensive output. the offense as a whole is struggling whether it is bad throws, dropped passes, poor running game, penalties and play calling. i personally believe a change in blocking scheme and personnel on the o-line will fix the running game issues. the running game stunk the year before we had kubiack. the zbs is no longer effective because of the new chop block rule. need to figure it out soon before we get to the tougher part of the schedule.

Denver still runs zbs. Cut blocking is not chop blocking.

I also hear.. key players like Yanda are not to happy with Trestmans blocking scheme and are pushing back. They want the old scheme back. And to that I say good. You dont take a All Pro G and all of a sudden start running Oregon style run game, tosses, sweeps, bs.. No.. you go with whats worked for decades&what worked with kubiak..Put a Fullback in the game.. put a RB in the game.. 2 TEs and run the ball from under center, or shotgun

The ZBS we used to run has effectively been banned by the NFL when they decided to make cut blocking illegal. We can't go back to the way we used to do it, whether we like it or not.

Cut blocking is not illegal, chop blocking is illegal. Watch Denver, Kubiak still does cut blocking in the zbs.
