  1. I want to see details. 6M this year and 13 over the next two isn't that much UNLESS they worked it so that the Ravens are not hamstrung in the following years like they were this year and next year under the previous contact. If they did that, then that would be great so they aren't stuck in having to rework again in three years.
  2. I like it. Ozzie will gain a lot of power back waiting one year to renegotiate. The cap will already go up ~2 million more than previously thought due to the arbitration decision early this week. If Linta won't budge on some team friendly issues, Ozzie can wait a year and then threaten a trade or cut and Linta will have to take him seriously. I like Joe and hope things get worked out for the best both ways.
  3. There is absolutely no way Flacco gets cut. A more realistic scenario would be to trade him. Jay Cutler was traded for two 1st round picks and a 3rd rounder just a few years ago. Flacco would at least land us a first rounder and some pocket change if we had to put him on the block. I'm assuming what hunter is trying to imply is that it makes no financial sense whatso ever to the ravens to even think of moving on from Joe this year. 3 mil in savings wont bring us a franchise quarterback unless we draft Goff and bluff Linta for real. Next year on the other hand is a whole different story. Just stay with me and youl see how much leverage Linta loses in one short year if the Ravens make that same proposal of Trading him away to the highest bidder. 1- Joe will be a year older. 2- The Ravens open up 15mil in 2017 and 20mil in 2018 to move on to whatever QB they like. 3- The Raven get some value in return. and can make sure he doesn't go to a contender. 4- Flacco has to honor the remaining two years 20mil each on his deal (non guaranteed) 5- If Flacco gets hurt or underperforms with his new team he gets close to nothing as a 34 year old FA about to turn 35. If i was one of Flacco's advisers, I'd advise him to stop hard balling the Ravens and take what they give you now. Make up the difference in escalators and endorsements in Baltimore where you already have a nice brand. If you sign now, the Ravens build a team and future plans all around you. If you wait till next year, the Ravens in the meantime will have a plan for the next five year without you in the picture. The last 10 guys that hard balled the Ravens all lost in the big picture. Dont be #11! You wanna be here and the Ravens want you here. GET IT DONE! Yes, Halshayeji more or less spelled out what I'm thinking. Linta has the upper ground this year, the Ravens will have retaken it if they wait till next year (barring a run like Joe had to the superbowl, AND that might be just what they want). Also I would add that the Ravens are not stupid in managing the cap, if they did this there was a main plan and several back up contingency plans for exactly what is happening now.
  4. I almost hope they eat it this year because next year they will be in so much better a position to negotiate than this year it might be worth it. Even though they never would cut him the threat of cutting him this year would be laughed at by Linta who's only money ticket is Joe. Next year Linta would have to take the threat seriously due to the tremendous cap savings it would generate. Linta calling Ozzie dumb is a problem.
  5. I wonder if Ed may have been giving the buisness to whoever he was talking to with that Patriots fan nonsense. Otherwise it makes little to no sense without additional background info, despite Belichick's man crush on Ed Reed.
  6. Mallet can be a streaky good qb his production comes in streaks. There was a very good reason he wasn't a first round pick when his arm and talent level all suggested he should be. Million Dollar arm, 50 cent head. Hopefully he is turning it around, I always route for people to overcome personal issues, but whoever said he will have to give a dozen steelers game performances to get there is right on. Plus I have a feeling that the steelers completely underestimated is that game and we just flat out beat their game plan and they couldn't adapt in game because their new guy does not have lebeau's experience. Also did you not observe mallet melting down during the Bengals game, it was getting ugly and he was showing up his receivers in the game, that is bad form and a way to loose your team mates. He learned that bad habit from Brady.
  7. I'll repeat the Golden rule of 52. It is so important that they play Ray saying it on SiriusXM nfl channel all the time. "Stop the run, get after the quarterback, Heroes baby!"
  8. I don't understand why Tomlin crying after the loss last night isn't getting more press. Sure the steelers press is covering for him but the fact is this is an nfl head coach crying after he just lost in a public forum. Is it me or is that just weak and soft? I couldn't believe it when I heard this last night, this is supposed to be the NFL! It's not like this was in the locker room or for team consumption. This is a guy the steelers press says doesn't do anything that isn't calculated (after trying to trip JJ). A guy who said that calling him a player's coach was racist. Now crying because he lost. What is his game?
  9. I understand why you are saying this but look at what happens to receivers who play this role that the ravens said they wanted Campanero to be :Wes Welker, Julian Eddleman, Danny Amendola all get hurt regularly when they play this role. It goes with the position. You are right in saying that they need to be tough but it is only a matter of time till even the toughest guy playing this role gets taken out. The hits are too hard on this role and come to fast. He corrected the issue he could with his training but getting a crushed disk is not on him. He gets another chance. What we need desperately is speed.
  10. Tomlin cries after the loss last night. He also tried to give the impression that he was only wearing the sweatshirt but he was caught wearing the jacket more than once taking it off to go into halftime and for the end of the game. Seems like a fake tough guy posturing.
  11. Not tossing Amendola and not calling the launching late hit on Smith caused that endzone fight.
  12. Patriots getting all the calls and playing dirtier than steelers tonight.
  13. Scuttlebutt is that Cullen uses his off field issues as examples of what not to do to help troubled players.
  14. You can't overlook the fact that the Ravens do their own scouting, but if they pick at 6 or higher they may be pretty comparable to the consensus outside of qb. Sami how did you get to be a Ravens fan? Was your dad an old Browns fan pre-move to Baltimore andguided you down the team path when they moved? I know my kids are Ravens fans because of me even though they never lived anywhere close to Maryland.
  15. Good for Ed! Wish we hired him...
  16. Another year another former Raven becomes a head coach. Are we above 22%u2030 of the league head ccoaches as former Ravens now? Or does thepPettine to Jackson just keep it even?
  17. Eric "Will Riker" DeCosta. I'm good with that. Let's just hope we don't have a Locutus situation pop up.
  18. So Joe isn't a star? Suggs isn't a star? sure both are IR this year, but a down year does not take steam out of a rivalry, rebuliding does not take it out like the Steelers in the last few years. Ask Steve Smith if the steam was out of the rivalry for the first game, go ahead and ask him if you dare. Seems he felt how real it was. The coaches have to teach their new players how big a deal this game is. You know what John, This article is something that should have you re-evaluated for job performance just like the coaches this year. Way beneath your usual efforts. Get with it man, or are you giving up to complacency.... At least the players are playing their hearts out even if the web propaganda crew have given up....
  19. Wait for the national brodcasters to say what they want for the game, I bet they say even though Ravens are down this is still the best or one of the best rivalries in the NFL during the game. If you are not watching the home anouncing crew, just listen to the national coverage. This is a highly elevated rivalry.
  20. The rivalry has lost nothing, sure its a down year, but if it really was so out of gas, John would have written this article before the Vick game this year. I bet this game is close where the others are not. The NFL may fix it if they want the Steelers in the playoffs, but I think this is the last winnable game the Ravens have this year, and I've thought that since the Jacksonville game.
  21. Way out of line Johnny. Joe just wants to beat the Bengals because the Ravens have been loosing to them. There is not the animosity there, maybe if they win the Superbowl, but we know that won't happen. Ravens-Steelers is still the best rivalry in football because it is real. No loss of steam. Patriot cheaters are different because outside of NE, they are just recognized for what they are corner cutting cheats. Even the owner (keeping TV presidents in his box so he can control game momentum with TV timeouts [or lack thereof]) and team president (openly in the media criticizing the Ravens in direct violation of NFL rules) cheat, starts at the top. Since the NFL won't punish them because they are afraid of a congressional investigation they get away with it over and over again or else that despicable organization would be gutted top to bottom. There is a difference of rivals (which can be respected) vs. detriments to the game itself (gutless cowards).
  22. I'm going to try and say something positive about the gold pants. Since Nike likely made us use them, at least the misery of wearing them didn't infect a good season and they got it over with in this dog of one. Nike, why don't you so something interesting, like take the all black uniforms and make them more like the all black Thanksgiving day hat from 2013 and blend in purple and red to make them more menacing looking. I like the all black, the players like the all black, and the winning percentage likes the all black. Watch us go out and shock everyone and beat the Steelers next week wearing the all black. I would be real money that Steve Smith either influenced if not had it written into his contract that we would wear the all black vs. the Panthers in a day game last year. He said when he came here "I love the uniforms." I wish the Ravens would have the "juevos" to declare them the regular uniforms for next year and wear them every game where they don't have to wear white. 13-4 (all time), 10-3 (Harbs). Winning percentage says it all. Add a dark purple stripe if needed, or purple accents, but go all black. Just like real ravens.
  23. No Steelers colors. We are not the Vikings. Keep it all black and purple, or better yet, all black.
  24. No, no, no, no, no.
  25. I bet no IR for Schaub is about money.
