  1. Unless you expected Monroe to play out his contract, he was likely to be released next year anyway, which means the $4.4M was going to count in 2017 either way. Once they drafted Stanley, this move was inevitable. Bottom line: They weren't going to pay $6.5M in cash to an unreliable player to sit on the bench. No team would. They had $6.3M in Cap space prior to this, which is enough for minimum salary moves and to carry into the season, but would not likely leave much of a carryover. Now, they can look to extend Williams/Wagner - both of whose Cap numbers will increase with an extension - and carry over the rest.
  2. Pretty much. Not too painful to get out from under after the 2 years.
  3. I agree, but let's see the final details first. Very often the first reported numbers are the max deal (after incentives/escalators) and not the base deal. I would expect (hope) that it's structured as a 1-yr "prove it" deal that allows them to get out pretty easily if he fails to perform in 2016.
  4. This. Zrebiec's tweets and the articles in The Sun have been correct. It was Rotoworld that took poor license to what he actually reported.
  5. Full details of Weddle's deal:
  6. Right now, there are only 4 FA deals bigger than KO's and I'd think it's pretty unlikely that any other larger deals come along at this point, so I'd think that we're pretty safe with a 3rd for KO. Schaub should qualify, along he won't likely be amongst the top 32, but that's enough to cancel the signing of Watson. Obviously, if Upshaw signs elsewhere, he'd be more likely to be the one to cancel Watson. At that point, Schaub would likely fall below 32, but still leave us with the 3rd for KO.
  7. Sorry, but that is incorrect. There's no limit on the number of comp picks given per round. Some years there are more for any given round, some years less. It all depends on the value of the contracts given out in that given year and where those contracts fall within the scale (which goes up every year) for where the cut offs fall.
  8. Also, to further follow up on this, all of the big FA contracts are now done, so there aren't going to be anymore contracts with huge apy's that could push KO's 3rd round comp down. Obviously, when it comes to the Comp pick rules, you never say never, but in this case, I'd think the 3rd rounder for KO is pretty safe, assuming we don't sign any other UFAs (or 2 if Upshaw signs somewhere else - assuming that Schaub, no financial terms yet, qualifies).
  9. That's bit off because they don't have all the Ravens moves included yet - still have Canty included, Watson not included, as he just signed contract today. Should be around $11M under at this point.
  10. I share this thought and am a bit surprised by a 2nd restructure, since they've said for years that they will not do so, but perhaps this explains it a little: Charley Casserly ‏@CharleyCasserly 1h1 hour ago Los Angeles, CA A GM told me one of the reasons we are seeing big money deals is because teams believe there will be a spike in Cap next year.@nflnetwork
  11. Yes, while there is a lot of serious $$ being thrown around, he seems to be pretty solidly in the 3rd round category and there's no limit on the number of 3rd round comps that can be given out, So, unless there is some major shift, he should definitely be a 3rd.
  12. Assuming it's large enough to qualify for a Comp pick, then it will cancel out the -1 from Watson. A UFA gain is cancelled by a loss in the same round or next closest lower loss. So, even if Schaub is lower, it would still cancel Watson, returning the 3rd for KO to the Ravens. If Upshaw were to sign elsewhere, he would probably be a closer Comp and cancel Watson. Whether they then get a Comp for Schaub will then depend on if he's amongst the top 32 eligible Comps - the max allowed. If he's below 32, he won't garner them a Comp, enough though he did technically "qualify" under the formula.
  13. As has already been pointed out, Jensen is a ERFA, so no worries there. Regarding OTC's estimate of ~$3M, haven't see that, but that's not even remotely close. After RFA/ERFA tenders (assuming Aiken is the only RFA to get a tender) and including Tucker and Wright and estimating Cox, they should still have a little over $4M in Cap space as of Wed (that is if they do not make any other moves).
  14. Hey, never say never, but I find it hard to believe that John Harbaugh would be on board with signing Pacman. Just don't see it (nor do I want it).
  15. If a $1M base, the 2016 Cap number would be $2.33M. $4M bonus, divided by 3 years = $1.33M. Add the $1M base to get to $2.33M. As others have said, sounds like incentives/escalators - hopefully a lot of them - so, the base deal is less than $16M. As the say, the devil is in the details, so how much is TBD.
  16. They're only going to give up on KO if the money gets to be too much. CB is certainly an issue - a major one - too. They can multi-task and work on and/or get different deals done without affecting the other.
  17. Full breakdown of Flacco's deal:
  18. Depends on what other moves they decide to make. It could be done, but would definitely be tough, though.
  19. Jeff Zrebiec @jeffzrebiecsun 18m18 minutes ago Harbaugh says Ravens made aggressive offer to retain Osemele. Says team sees him at left tackle. Brian McFarland ‏@RavensSalaryCap · 33m33 minutes ago As LT would likely top Monroe's 5 yr/$37.5M/$11M SB deal. 1st yr Cap # would be ~$4M. Can save $2.1M from Monroe cut Ian Rapoport‏@RapSheet With pending [profanity deleted] Kelechi Osemele, #Ravens are aggressive, sources say. Offered to make him the 2nd highest offensive player behind Flacco Brian McFarland ‏@RavensSalaryCap · 7m7 minutes ago 2nd highest is Yanda, at just under $8/yr, so would have to top that for starting LT. Top 10 LT $ starts at $9M/yr EDIT: LOL....too funny that Rapoport's "Free Agent Guard" abbreviation got caught by the "profanity" detector!
  20. No, that's just where they are and where they would be on March 9 after ERFA/RFA tenders (but pending re-signings, Franchise Tag, extensions, restructures, cuts).
  21. Brian McFarland ‏@RavensSalaryCap 43m43 minutes ago (1/2) Assuming a $155M Cap, Ravens are presently (before RFA/ERFA tenders & other adjustments), $6.5M under Cap w/ 55 players under contract Brian McFarland ‏@RavensSalaryCap 42m42 minutes ago (2/2) Again assuming a $155M Cap, after tenders/adjustments/etc, but b4 any other moves (cuts/restrict/ext), Ravens would be ~$1M under Cap.
  22. Oh, no doubt. Was just enjoying the laugh of making ~$300k for being on the roster for 5 days (understanding that these guys work their azzes off year round to get the chance). Good point about Reuland and Gordon - either is probably a recent candidate to fill the #3.
  23. FWIW, The PED rules require an immediate suspension, whereas the drug policy requires 4 failed tests before a suspension. Both are an initial 4-game suspension at that point.
  24. Fair enough, but I don't think blocking is really Cook's strong suit. He's a pass catching TE first and foremost. Give their Cap constraints, I just think he will still demand more than they will be wiling to pay.
  25. Yes, certainly an option after being non-tendered as a RFA, but hard to tell after his ~5 days on the active roster before going on IR.?
