I could easily see Brooks drop down as a rover back/LBer in some exotic packages, if Dean will take the leash off the defense, and let them do what they are capable of doing, and that is being a attacking defense, and not a defensive defense....Bring the noise, let the guys do what they are capable of doing....
stixfix69.... i agree, that we have went out and brought in some special athletes who we can deploy in ways that could be a nightmare for opposing offenses... (like brooks) but I think we both know that Pees will never take the handcuffs off... he is a bend but dont break guy and the idea of an attacking defense is foreign for Pees. I am really hoping that the presence of Leslie Frazier will help pees to get more out of our defense and trust our DBs a little more but when it comes to pees... i really dont have high hopes of anything more then the bend but dont break approach that causes us to lose more close games then any team in the NFL
We will be better Everywhere:
QB- (we will have Joe back and Mallet played well and will know the system)
RB- (the addition of TRICH, and Dixon and return of JF and LT)
FB- (Juice should be getting better with exp)
WR (the addition of Wallace and Chris Moore and the return on SSS, and Camp coupled with the addition of Perriman and Renyolds and others make this the most improved unit on the team)
TE- (Ben Watson is a beast- Maxx will be better and Gilmore keeps improving but I am most excited about Waller making this move- ohhh yea and Pitta returns)
OL - Stanley makes us better right now - we lost KO and that hurts but we had depth at G and Zuttah will return and we added Alex Lewis and Ducasse)
DL- the addition of Henry and Kafusi to an already very good young DL has the potential to make us one of the best DL rotations in the NFL
LB- We lost DSmith and I am not sure that Arthur can replace him (I hope) but we get SUggs back- added Kameli Coreia, and Judon.(Who knows maybe VOchi will also turn out to be a gem). ZSmith will have had time to grow and We may still add someone - this is the biggest question mark area for us!
CB- Jimmy should be healthier. The addition of Powers, Tavon and Cannaday should help us tremendously. The return of Will Davis is also a big boost and the development of SWright should prove to big boost (Plus Webb can sub in if we need him)
S - The addition of Weddle is huge. He will help to solidify a position that we have struggles in. K Lewis should be better as he is more familiar with our system. Elam should be healthy and motivated. Brooks looked good in spots and should continue to show improvement.
We look to be better in nearly every position (ILB maybe the only one not and I believe we still may make a move there) We look two deep everywhere and even more at some positions, but some players will need to play to their expectations this season (Stanley, Forsett (or which ever RB starts) Perriman Watson, Urschel, Timmy, Kameli, Jimmy)
Timmy Jernigan -Brandon Williams and Bronson Kafusi
Lawerence Guy- Carl Davis and Brent Urban
KLM and Willie Henry
Thats potentially the best DL in the NFL!
Ramsey tears the meniscus on his surgically repaired knee (microfracture).....shocking!
WOW.... that Jags cant buy a break. LOL they seriously have bad luck. (not laughing at Ramsey- just at fate)... Hope Ramsey heals up... glad we have Ozzie!

He needs to go. I mean yes he did play several positions, but does that REALLY effect you tackling ? His strong suit went to his weakness FAST!
mearzunkies.... I hear you on Elam but even without him... the Safety position is much better this year... and I do think that Elam will be improved. I think Brooks will be more improved. I had high hope for KLewis but not so much right now. I am also excited about Nick Perry maybe developing into something. That is a big bodied S who I would love to see us match up against some of these new breed Safeties!
AJ HAwk just was released (we can use an veteran inside LB) at least to push Authur and Zach Orr
Victor Ochi was a guy I wanted the Ravens to draft. I think he will be a good player in 2yrs like Mcphee.
Pros:
Highly productive(13 sacks, 16.5 TFL)
Explosive first step
Good hand usage
High motor, relentless rusher
Has knack for getting after the QB/ QB hunter
A sure tackler and always finds the ball
Cons:
A little stiff bending the curve
Needs to develop more pass rushing moves/ counter moves
A bit Undersized
Level of competition
* He's a Raven and can see him making a big impact on the team with a tittle coaching in the near future.
I hope you are right but with Timmy, Carl Davis and now Willie Henry out of Michigan.... I just do not know when he is going to get any reps... but I thought he looked great in his pro day workouts.... etc. Lets hope we found a gem!
I bet that we still sign a CB soon! We have somewhere in the neighborhood of about 12 million in cap space... we will see that used and I believe used on a CB at minimum!
Jarrell Boxton will be that next guy...diamond in the rough type. This guy is a massive road grader ... and not just a big body like Ramon Harwood or Jah Reid (although reid ended up playing okay). If Broxton improves his pass blocking and hand positioning he can be a beast in this league.
Still a lot of players that i really like in round 4. Malcolm Mitchell-WR- UGA, Travis Feeney- OLB- Wash, Marcus Cannaday- CB- UVA, Graham Glasgow-G-Mich, Landon Turner- G- UNC, Kolby Listenbee- KR-TCU, Jonathan Jones -CB- Aub (small but can absolutely fly). Tavon Young -CB- Temple- Harlan Miller-CB- SE La. Stephen Weatherly- DE- Vandy- Anthony Zettel- DE- PSU and more... and we have 5 picks in round 4. There is a lot of solid talent still there and we are in a position to load up!
Remember that all of our 4th round picks are still inside the top 150 picks. In other words in round 4 alone we will get 5 players from the top 150 in the world! I like our chance of finding a gem!
Now..trade back into the 3rd..get Braxton Miller, a legit wr before they are all gone..
I guess CB will come tomorrow.
Kiper said..Correa can play both OLBr /Pass rush and Ilbr..
I assume hes meant for pass rush.. so still need ILBr too
CB- Kendall Fuller-VTech, CB - Marcus Cannaday -UVA and CB - Harlan Miller -SE LA... all can help us out in round 4
I like both Fuller and Alexander but I see us going for Noah Spence or Ogbah... and I kinda like Ogbah out of the two!
Once Bosa was off the board and no trade back was in the works, it had to be Stanley. Much safer pick than Tunsil. Now the question is will the Ravens release Monroe in June to save big bucks? Can they switch him to guard?
I think that Monroe is gone.... we can use that 5 million to bring in help at CB and we addressed two positions in one swift move! Love it!
this might be ozzies last year as GM
LOL.... Ozzie is one of the most respected GMs in the league... ITs like when a coach wins the super bowl... they become almost legendary.... when a GM finds a HOFer..thats the equivalent- Ozzie has found at least 3 (JO, RAY, ED) and probably at least 4 (Suggs) in 20 years... and possibly 6 (Haloti and Yanda) - if any GM landed a HOFer every three years... they would be the most coveted guy around! Thats what we have in Ozzie and possibly better. R-E-L-A-X and give this draft two years.... and i guarantee that you will look at this draft with high regard!.
Ozzie said once the draft started nobody rang looking to trade up to 6. I guess it's kind of hard not to take the safest pick in that situation. I feel content with the fact that we tried to move up to 4 for Ramsey (I presume?) but I also understand why the Cowboys didn't accept the trade in the end.
Welcome to the Ravens, Stanley!
Agreed.... well said... TUNSIL ended up being the # 3 T taken in the draft and watching the debacle that was his press conference.... and the political storm that just started for him... I felt much better about our pick... just 7 picks later! SMH
It would be nice to have gotten that flashy, playmaking corner or d-lineman that we were told we needed so bad but Monroe controlled this draft, not Ozzie. Monroe knew what he was doing by coming out with those crazy pot tweets last week knowing the Ravens can't trust him to try to buck the system and get suspended for using marijuana to treat his pain. He doesn't want to be here and after the Ravens basically saying he is done for by trying to keep KO, who would blame him. He knew he was headed out the door so he fired his last shot which forced Ozzie's hand. Ozzie may have kept him a year but with those tweets, insinuating he was going to test the system, we couldn't risk the suspension. After Tunsil's pre-draft twitter hack, the Ravens couldn't touch him after the Monroe pot issues so we ended up with the second best tackle in the 6th spot. WOW. No way in any imagination did we pick the best player on the board. Now that we just cleared about 5 mil in cap space by clearing Monroe, we will get 3 or 4 old, washed up pass rushers when they get cut by the teams they are on.
or maybe with that 5 million cleared.... we have addressed two positions : LT and CB... when we can now bring in a legit CB and we did it in one move that leaves us much stronger overall for the next 3 to 4 years.
Now if Jack can fall into the 2nd round and into our laps, then the draft would be a a+
have to admit. If Jack falls a few more spots to us... it will be interesting.... Raggland is also left... as is Ogbah, Kevin Dodd, Noah Spence, MAlexander, Deion Jones and more....Round 2 should be fun ..... I think we go with Spence but Jack will make it interesting for sure!
This was a great pick for building a winning team. Some of your guys just don't get it.
Agreed ... I think in the long term this will prove to be a great pick and will help us reach our lofty goals. Stanley was a great pick... i have to admit that I was a little surprised and thought we would take Tunsil but Stanley is the safe bet!
If this pick helps the run game then that will also help the passing game.
Running game and passing game does not help the defense!!!
It does when the O is not going 3 & out each series. D stays fresh for the 4th quarter.
agreed ... and helps the defense when we can control the ball and control the clock in the process
By the way, I don't think it's fair that nonresidents cannot vote: for instance, you have a bunch of Marylanders who think that Flacco is not elite, and another weird bunch who say that they root for the redskins - and THOSE could vote!!!
Agree with ya there. A fan is a fan regardless of where they live
AGREED!
Donny Goerer played well before the Ravens. Cary Williams has played great before and after his time in BMORE. Huff played very well before coming here and then looked like he never know how to play the game while here. DStewart and Ihedigbo were wildly inconsistent here and at times flat out stunk. They left here and magically played great again. KArrington was the most sought after CB FA last season (not named Reevis) and he was wildly inconsistent and at times flat out stunk here! Will Hill was considered one of the best S in the NFL when he was with the NYGiants... came here and was wildly inconsistent. Brooks was a 3rd round draft pick and thought to be a steal there. He has been wildly inconsistent and at times flat out stunk. Matt Elam was a 1st round draft pick... When he came into the league... the book on him was a sure bet... technically sound.... since coming here he has regressed and been wildly inconsistent... and at times flat out stunk! Most people are not calling them both a bust. Melvin was someone who stepped in during the playoffs and played great and the more time he spent in out system the more inconsistent and worse he played! Under Pees, Ed Reed was called too old and slow, and Webb has regressed. Jimmy has been wildly inconsistent and at times flat out stunk. Are we seeing a pattern yet? Are we seeing the bigger common denominator? While many of them has had a good game here or there for us... (that's proof that they have talent) None have been consistent or growing. All have been inconsistent, regressing and more times then not... flat out stink! SMH.... IDK why it is hard to see this? In fact... I even think our FO saw this - which is why they went out and brought a guy like Frazier in to help Pees out!
And this is where we know you have no idea what you're talking about because Gorrer made one start prior to the Ravens and don't play a snap for two teams prior to the Ravens (three teams total), then didn't play for three teams after.
Williams did not play great and he played in four total games with like eight total tackles over the course of two years. He was a routine PS player and then he gets cut by the Eagles and flat out lost his starting job to DeSean Shead with the Seahawks prior to getting cut.
Most on here were livid that the Ravens signed Huff because he wasn't good. He had a decent year at corner, but one good year doesn't absolve how bad he was ar safety prior to that.
Kyle Arrington was the most sought after, but doesn't get signed until May after the draft? Right. Makes total sense.
Ed Reed was old and slow to the point that the Texans cut him, so.... pretty sure he also had a torn shoulder labrum. However, with Reed, he shouldn't be mentioned because he transcends scheme and any poor is on him.
Jimmy is oft injured, so there's your reason for inconsistent play. When he's stayed healthy for a period of time, he's fine.
I can't even believe you'll try to defend Melvin because he got his first shot here and so his play is not indicative of Pees, especially when he can't stick with a team.
Diggs was also not some elite player after Baltimore or before. He was a career special teams player before and played well for all of two or three weeks before sinking to mediocre play, again.
Elam was not a sure fire thing. He was the third safety taken in a very weak class where many, many of those first rounders look like busts. However, I like Elam and I want to see what he can do in year three when he's able to settle into one position and not have to try to do everything.
Or Frazier is a well respected coach and if you have an opportunity to get a good one, you do so. The Ravens brought in Castillo when nothing was wrong with Moeller. It's what you do.
lol...Huff was a probowler in Oakland...Kyle Arrington was one of the most sought after FA cbs last year and there is some truth to what steelcity said about our DBackfields inconsistency since Pees got here. They have... Will Hill has, Jimmy has, Webb has, Any S we have thrown in there has played inconsistent. IDK how you want to slice it but our DBs have been some of the most inconsistent in the NFL over the past 3 years... that is reality and its not like we havent made investments in that area. We used a 1st round draft pick on Elam, a 3rd rounder on TBrooks, We went out and signed Will Hill, DStewart, JIhedigbo, a myriad of CBs including making a trade for Will Davis and more. That dont count other big investments on Defense... CJ Mosley 1st round pick, BWilliams, CDavis and more... We signed Dumervil and brought in DSmith, drafted Zsmith, and so much more... only to get a lot of inconsistent play year after year since Pees took over... and he is right we have been nothing but inconsistent and I hope either frazier, or Harbs or somebody else (pees included) does whatever it takes to get it right... and stops the excuses!!
He will never be 100 percent for more that 3 games this season due to our schedule. He will either fake or be hurt after that, and he never did anything to cause it.
lol....yea....his lisfranc injury was fake??? c'mon jimmy doesnt seem soft and doesnt seem fake! i hope he has learned to take better care of his body and to prepare better to prevent real injuries but to call him a fake...WOW...SMH
Shore up the trenches, stay healthy, and expect to see Joe break 4k passing yards
agreed ... but if joe is bored he can work on managing the pocket better and sliding away from pressure
He moved from a crowded position to a very crowded position. Hope the beat for him, love his size/speed
He has freakish raw skills and ability..... even in a league of freaks...if he can make the transition... he can give us a serious weapon creating mismatches like few others in this league can!
Obviously is Tunsil or Ramsey are there we have to take them. If it comes to Bosa... I think we have to take him.... but if the asking price was right... I like the idea of trading back and accumulating many picks in what seems to be a talent rich draft, wouldn't be a bad idea! Stanley later in the round with additional picks feels pretty good to me... (we can really build from this draft)!

S... will be Weddle and Webb as the starters and Elam and Brooks as the back ups- KLewis will be gone unless we have plans to use Webb as a S / CB and then we may keep five.
TE.. I really think we keep Watson, Gilmore and Maxx ( I think Pitta will retire before then end of camp) and Waller is the wild card. (I could see us keeping him but I think he ends up on the PS)
RB... I feel like Forsett, Dixion and Buck are in.... I think Richardson could be the wild card.... He could be the surprise.... (but I dont like how this has started it out for him). I think LT is the most intriguing situation bc his talent is clearly there but just not sure where he is in the mix.. I think west is gone Dixion can be everything we would want from West and more
WR... obviously SSS, Perriman, Wallace and Chris Moore are locks... Probably even Kamar... (It will be a choice between Camp and Renyolds - they are the same type of skill set and I am leaning towards Renyolds... even though he is raw.... camp cant stay on the field). Jeremy Butler is interesting also...but he Kaelin Clay, Chris Matthews and Daniel Brown) are all talented but I think if we let any of them go... they will be a back up WR with someone else. (I do think at least Daniel Brown goes to the PS)
